The lack of compatibility with the Gen 2 Apple Pencil and (probably) lack of compatibility with the existing Magic Keyboard on the 11” M4 Pro makes it a hard no for me. I’m not dropping another $300 for another keyboard. Like I hate being that guy, but that’s ridiculous
It’s even more bizarre when the usb c is compatible. That means that the real issue is the magnets or charging, not the pencil tech. Apple didn’t want to bother with charging compatibility.
I mean it's pretty much a mini MacBook Pro with a pen and touchscreen, and the MacBook Pro with max specs is $8k... so if I had to choose between the 2 I'd probably go for the iPad...
I been iPad only for 3 years paid 2k for everything with the m1. I use it everyday so I think it was worth it. I have a pc for file management and some programs but I prefer the simplicity of the iPad without all the clutter and having the Apple Pencil is crucial for my photography editing. Not to mention that they are probably not upgrading the pencil anytime soon. So you’re getting a really future-proof device.
1000% I was waiting for an air update, had my fingers crossed but was fully expecting it to start with 64, 128 was my deciding factor! 64-256 being the only options is criminal, 128 makes way more sense cost wise
On the other hand, for $999, a baseline iPad Pro with a 120hz oled screen, how long could that last you? I mean, a brand-spanking-new M4 chip that is “not being fully utilized due to iPadOS” could probably be supported for a good while. In fact, some people reported that their iPad Pros from 2018 are still running as well as back then.
That’s how I feel with all these ultra thin devices. Seems too fragile, would definitely get a case. In general I like weight reductions, but I don’t like thickness reductions (less durable in general, harder to hold, runs hotter in general).
iPads are the tablet version of fully loaded $100k trucks that stick to the pavement and never haul anything heavier than 5 bags of soil or boxes of girl scout cookies. So few consumers actually utilize the product to its fullest and could easily have saved hundreds, if not thousands, just to babysit their children with a RUclips playing device.
Have never owned an iPad even though I've long toyed with the idea of getting one simply because I've been craving a new graphics tablet. I never got great at drawing in general, but I had fun waaaay back in the day with a giant Wacom. So the appeal of drawing directly on a screen has been in the back of my mind, and I think this new M4 iPad Pro with Pencil Pro is the combo I've been waiting for. I can't imagine I'll be doing a lot of other stuff with the iPad because I have a MacBook Pro and a desktop PC (hooked up to my home theater), so my media consumption and productivity needs are already satisfied. This would really just be about having a nice drawing tool.
Still doesn't run Mac OS; no windows. Thinner, until you put a case on it, which you don't generally do to a MacBook, since the screen is protected when closed. No compelling reasons to upgrade from an earlier one for most people with one. The new pen has a little more capability, if you need it. So, do you upgrade to stay leading edge current, or wait until something really new comes along?

You really don’t need an external keyboard. The reason you use iPad Pro is the touchscreen experience. If you just plop your iPad Pro 13-inch on a keyboard and use the touchscreen 10% of the time then you might as well get a mac. You are wasting your money. The touchscreen experience is so refreshing coming from a windows user for half my life. I use the on-screen keyboard. I love Touching and moving my documents, spreadsheet, playing the piano, guitar, making music, just doing everything on the 120hz touchscreen display. That is the reason why iPad is so popular. The mac is not that. It’s good but it’s ancient like Austin. Kidding. Love ya Austin.
Agreed. I’ve never once tried to use a keyboard and I’ve been using iPads since the first generation. It’s perfect for traveling, minimizing workstation areas, quick adjustments that don’t require PC access, bedside (which I’m doing now lol), and more!
Generally speaking I don’t think year to year or every-other-year upgrades are worth it anymore and I think that’s fine. Personally I’ll upgrade my 5 year old ipad pro since I it’s time and as an artist there are multiple appealing feature, but won’t be upgrading again for another 5+ years
I remember thinking the same sentiment. Bigger isn’t always better. The regular sized iPad was/is for big athletes, business & the medical profession. The average person can hold & operate a mini just fine.
The mini has low screen brightness and its battery blows. Plus, when I want to really watch a movie I want a big screen. Nothing better than chillin in my car with the big display connected to my sound system watching a movie
It's annoying that I'd have to get the 1TB one to get the 16GB of RAM...I think WWDC will be extra important this year because it will be hard to justify with the limitations of ipadOS... unless it's opened up next month...
With the cost of the iPad keyboards I don’t know how they sell a single product….when you can build a custom keyboard for the same price or less and you get something that thocks, is wireless, can be used on multiple setups, and is surely a better typing experience - many times for less than $200 let alone $300.
No, and neither can starving artists and musicians. The two versions of the M4 p, the unnecessarily thin iPads sacrificing battery capacity and heat dissipation is insane. iPad line up is messy and many will just buy last gen used to save money. The new apps are very niche… Where’s the Mini, Timmy?
It’s just sad how iPad mini is treated like a step child. They didn’t even show it on the lineup and only very briefly mentioned at the very end. It’s clear they are unfortunately killing the mini because of the new significant lower price of the 10th gen iPad. It makes it wildly cheaper than a mini….cannibalizing that line, painfully. iPad mini is the definition of what a tablet is suppose to be for the general consumer.
I ordered the M4 iPad Pro w/1tb regular glass and the the new apple pencil Pro. I have been using the m1 iPad Pro with 1tb since it's been released and it's slowing down and starting to overheat. I use Lightroom, photoshop and Adobe Premiere on it for about 8 to 10 hours a day. I prefer it over my Mac PC because photo editing using the touch screen is so much faster than using a trackpad I figured not to get that Nano textured glass because I'm just going to put a screen protector over it to protect my investment I bring my iPad everywhere when I go on photo shoots
Traded in my older iPad Pro for a new iPad Pro. Always wish it was less but it isn’t. Being able to connect a drive to it is a big deal for me. Will order one along with pencil and keyboard .
Well, how long would my 11-inch M2 iPad (512G) last? It began to feel the slightest bit of productive ONLY AFTER I’ve embraced Obsidian into my workflow…
You don’t need the iPad Pro with the keyboard. Ask yourself what you need the keyboard for and if you already have another device that covers that. For example 2D and 3D artists, designers and Architects may not use the keyboard that much.
10:15 this is exactly why I’m confused. No one has said the iPad Pro )or any iPad) was under powered. That has never been uttered in any language. So why make a more powerful iPad if not updating the OS? Let’s put a MacBook on iPadOS and see what happens… Oh wait, we basically did that with the new iPads… and it’s still boring.
It’s like $1000/$1300 if you get the base models. Recommend people go for the base model unless there are upgrades you know you will use. I don’t need space, I don’t need cellular, I don’t need the matte screen (gloss looks better), I don’t need the pencil, I don’t need the expensive keyboard.
It's so simple if the iPad pro 11/13 inch hasn't convinced you to buy it just wait till WWDC or your one of these that make videos on apple products. Imo the Tandem Oled Panels are enough of a reason to upgrade with the new pencil, keyboard, landscape camera, sorry but you can't convince me it's the same ipad as 2022 but software...
I have an Ipad Mini 6th Gen (from launch) and I have found it to be a useful tool. I use it mostly as a second screen e.g. watching a youtube video but can still use my phone when on the sofa opr in bed. Also got a bunch of manuals and guides loaded up as a reference tool.
9:16 well, to answer your question Austin, do you know about the Apple Pencil ? You know, you can write and draw with it. That’s what I do. I do art and graphic design. So far I haven’t felt the need for the keyboard.
Well, well, well, look at the iPad Pro thinking it's all that with its iPhone operating system. Samsung's out here doing a whole lot more than what that iPad could even dream of! It's like the iPad Pro's trying to be a laptop, but Samsung's got its own Pad game going strong. Apple's iPad Pro? Just a supersized version of the iPhone, talk about underwhelming! Speed? F , your so uneducated
A9 to A12 chip owners are the demographic most likely looking to upgrade. I’m on the A12 (3rd Gen) chipset and I’m getting the new M4 iPad because I want the improved performance to create as an artist and video editor. Not to mention, my games will be a better experience for playing too 😊
IMO the new iPad pros should have macOS. At this point almost any M series chip is basically overkill for iPadOS. They just need to make a the iPad Pro a tablet macbook with a magic keyboard and touchscreen.
I’m not buying an iPad until it can duel boot iOS and Mac iOS. What is all this power for? I have a 2014 iPad Air. It runs Netflix and RUclips just as good as these.
I’m going to get the new IPad Pro this year! I’m a in a blessed position to be able to afford one! With my major which is Computer Science that this going to last beyond any windows or Linux machines!
I literally just want to stream movies and TV shows while I’m working. With Apple finance and a trade in I could get the 11 inch one for like 50 bucks a month for 12 months. Idk if I will but I’m definitely considering it, especially on that OLED. Might be an impulse dumb purchase but I’d literally have it for 3-5 years.
I use my iPad Pro 12.9 2020 for drawing and making GIFS, the keyboard looks cool, but... I tend to use it as a second screen in Mac OS in Photoshop, illustrator and InDesign
3600 USD for the fully spec'd 13" new iPad Pro is just ridic AF! For 3600 USD, you can get a high end gaming rig, a full computer that can run modern AAA games with high resolution and high details... it doesn't matter how "good" the new iPad Pro is, that kind of money is just not justifiable for a tablet.
i have an ipad 7th gen, the only problem i have with it is it is 32gb!!! i wish i could get a somewhat up to date ipad mini with a apple pencil 2 and at least 128 gb!!!
Buying the 11 inch is pro is pretty cheap right now if you have a current iPad Pro you get value of $350 off the new iPad Pro which brings it down to $650.00. Then if you have or get the Apple credit card you can do 12 payments if no interest of $55.00. Doing it this way buying the new iPad is a no brainer.
Wondering if my 6th gen pro keyboard case will fit the new M4 pro. Have a feeling apple increased the size by .1 just to force people to buy another Magic Keyboard. While advertising trade in program for iPad just to be stuck with a bunch of magic keyboards
I was hoping a surprise announcement on the iPad Mini - not because I would need it, happy with the Air - but many people like it and it has its own use case. Sadly it hasn't happened.
This feels like when Apple released the MB Air 15. It won for a ton of ppl because it meant a bigger laptop without having to drop MB Pro money. The winner with these new iPads will be the IPad Air 13. Bigger screen for less money. Not saying the new IPad Pros won’t do well…there’s always going to be an audience for that product but as many of these ppl have said Apple did the typical thing with it tho. They made it that more powerful and made it that more expensive. But personally I’ll probably trade my work MB Pro 11 for an IPad Air 13. I’m keeping my IPad Pro 12.9 from 2022 for upcoming classes though.

I still use my 7th gen iPad everyday and really enjoy it. I haven’t had a reason to need an upgrade.
The Apple way move with the CPU difference between storage memory is crippeling. Sticking to my M2 11 inch Pro for years
Generally speaking I don’t think year to year or every-other-year upgrades are worth it anymore and I think that’s fine. Personally I’ll upgrade my 5 year old ipad pro since I it’s time and as an artist there are multiple appealing feature, but won’t be upgrading again for another 5+ years
iPad mini was the best purchase I’ve made. Fits the purpose of a handheld device.
You don’t need 16gb 😂
With the cost of the iPad keyboards I don’t know how they sell a single product….when you can build a custom keyboard for the same price or less and you get something that thocks, is wireless, can be used on multiple setups, and is surely a better typing experience - many times for less than $200 let alone $300.
No, and neither can starving artists and musicians.
The two versions of the M4 p, the unnecessarily thin iPads sacrificing
battery capacity and heat dissipation is insane.
iPad line up is messy and many will just buy last gen used to save money.
The new apps are very niche…
Where’s the Mini, Timmy?
It’s just sad how iPad mini is treated like a step child. They didn’t even show it on the lineup and only very briefly mentioned at the very end. It’s clear they are unfortunately killing the mini because of the new significant lower price of the 10th gen iPad. It makes it wildly cheaper than a mini….cannibalizing that line, painfully. iPad mini is the definition of what a tablet is suppose to be for the general consumer.
They’re gonna update the mini be patient stop bitching like a child
It is always best to get the cheapest ipad available because the power of the expensive ipads are heavily limited by the operating system.
short answer: nuh uh
Lol. That’s the default answer for every Apple product.
Shorter answer: NO

Well, how long would my 11-inch M2 iPad (512G) last? It began to feel the slightest bit of productive ONLY AFTER I’ve embraced Obsidian into my workflow…
The thinness will definitely be one of the most noticeable feature I would think. That and the weight reduction.
I'd like a video comparing the 2024 ipad pro to the 2018 one.
You don’t need the iPad Pro with the keyboard. Ask yourself what you need the keyboard for and if you already have another device that covers that. For example 2D and 3D artists, designers and Architects may not use the keyboard that much.
Ehh I have a cheap keyboard that I use when I take the iPad on the go as an artist/I don’t have to lug around a laptop as well (I’m an artist)
Most people should get either the base iPad or the air at most
There is a RAM difference also. 8GB or 16GB and number of cores difference for Pros below 1TB
As time has passed, I've found fewer uses for my ipad pro and more for my laptops. Now I just use my ipad mini for reading.
Try drawing
I watched many ipad videos now and just realized the pro oled says PRO in the oil like wallpaper
i did buy the keyboard for my M1 iPad pro but i never used it. i'm an architecture student and the only thing worth using is the pencil with procreate
10:15 this is exactly why I’m confused. No one has said the iPad Pro )or any iPad) was under powered. That has never been uttered in any language.
So why make a more powerful iPad if not updating the OS? Let’s put a MacBook on iPadOS and see what happens…
Oh wait, we basically did that with the new iPads… and it’s still boring.
Do you keep switching to the side camera just to screw with Austin so he is looking at the wrong one?
I just purchased my iPad Pro m2 like 3 days ago, I’ll just return this one and get the new one
If you truly did buy it 3 days ago (or even up to 2 weeks ago)… you’re just a moron 😂 I’m sorry but did you buy that and do literally zero research?
It's so simple if the iPad pro 11/13 inch hasn't convinced you to buy it just wait till WWDC or your one of these that make videos on apple products.
Imo the Tandem Oled Panels are enough of a reason to upgrade with the new pencil, keyboard, landscape camera, sorry but you can't convince me it's the same ipad as 2022 but software...
I am still using the iPad Air 2 with 128g and cellular, should I upgrade to the best 13 inch iPad Pro 2tb?
I was hoping for new iPad Mini’s
You are the BEST comedy show! Those that actually USE the iPad are giggling at your “vision”.. thanks for the laughs!
I have an Ipad Mini 6th Gen (from launch) and I have found it to be a useful tool. I use it mostly as a second screen e.g. watching a youtube video but can still use my phone when on the sofa opr in bed. Also got a bunch of manuals and guides loaded up as a reference tool.
the thing that still holds it back is thd ios. theres no point making it stringer when it still limited by the os yhat opening it up
9:16 well, to answer your question Austin, do you know about the Apple Pencil ? You know, you can write and draw with it. That’s what I do. I do art and graphic design. So far I haven’t felt the need for the keyboard.
After 14 years, Apple has finally made an iPad model with an OLED display. Only took them over a decade to catch up with Samsung. 😂
when will samsung catch up with apple's m4?
Samsung chip will took a century to keep up in performance💀
Well, well, well, look at the iPad Pro thinking it's all that with its iPhone operating system. Samsung's out here doing a whole lot more than what that iPad could even dream of! It's like the iPad Pro's trying to be a laptop, but Samsung's got its own Pad game going strong. Apple's iPad Pro? Just a supersized version of the iPhone, talk about underwhelming!
Speed? F , your so uneducated
When will Samsung tablet sales catch up though…
@@chachinitom4 can do what😂😂😂
A9 to A12 chip owners are the demographic most likely looking to upgrade.
I’m on the A12 (3rd Gen) chipset and I’m getting the new M4 iPad because I want the improved performance to create as an artist and video editor. Not to mention, my games will be a better experience for playing too 😊
This just makes me lose hope in iPhone pricing this fall. If they doubled storage on most iPads, 16 pro will be 1099 at 256
I just bought a ipad pro 6Gen m2 and iam happy 😊
What do you guys think 💭
And Again...
"No Dual USB-C'S" ...
With All That Power...
🤔🤣😎🧐
Hopefully they make a an updated oled m1 mini with a 120hz screen. That size is great for mobile gaming and best size for content consumption for me,
3600 USD for the fully spec'd 13" new iPad Pro is just ridic AF!
I found on Amazon you can buy the iPad Pro 11 with M2 chip for 256
Buy it
I'm still on my first generation iPad. Should I upgrade?
No i good for a few more centuries bruv
Buying the 11 inch is pro is pretty cheap right now if you have a current iPad Pro you get value of $350 off the new iPad Pro which brings it down to $650.00. Then if you have or get the Apple credit card you can do 12 payments if no interest of $55.00. Doing it this way buying the new iPad is a no brainer.
11:10 He said Zephyrus G14 and I perked up. I love mine so much
I relate to the host . I got like 6 iPads and im still using 2020 version . I have a feeling i will snap it half the firs at week
idk what the deal is but my basic comment abt "which ipad i own" is getting auto deleted................lame
BTW, The best processor is only available on the 1tb and 2tb !!! 8gb ram vs 16gb and the core also are upgraded on 1tb and + vs the 512gb and -
With the new M chips, Apple will get rid of the MacBook's all together. People were asking for touch screen macbook, well here it comes.
If they enable macOS on the new iPad pros it will be very very tempting…
Wondering if my 6th gen pro keyboard case will fit the new M4 pro. Have a feeling apple increased the size by .1 just to force people to buy another Magic Keyboard. While advertising trade in program for iPad just to be stuck with a bunch of magic keyboards
I was hoping a surprise announcement on the iPad Mini - not because I would need it, happy with the Air - but many people like it and it has its own use case. Sadly it hasn't happened.
Matt being like General Grevious over here, probably thinking "your iPads will make a fine addition to my collection!"
As an owner of a 3rd gen ipad pro, I think I'm finally upgrading to the M4 pro.
Yeah i am really excited that i can save my money and not waste it on a new ipad now
I was thinking of a macbook air, now im thinking of geting an ipad pro 13" with the keybored , and it works out cheaper ......
I love my zephyrus g14 Matt. It's overkill for what I do but will last a while.
At least they finally killed the lightning ipads off. The cheapest ipad finally has USB-C.
It’s great to have the option😢
I have the m1 12.9 and I feel the performance is average. Glitching and poor battery life for performance
