had a lot of fun, first time hosting a video that i also pitched! overall it made me understand better what things I want out of a phone.
one thing I didn't get to bring up in this video that was a Bit concerning about the iPhone experience. The phone had been factory reset, but when I installed Spotify it automatically logged me in to the Spotify of the employee who had previously used the phone.

I wonder if that is Spotify detecting the device. creepy since this means either apple isn't erasing your data correctly (a security and privacy issue) or Spotify has almost no security/privacy protection. I'm surprised you didn't complain about the scroll wheels instead of number pads for setting things like clocks and alarms.

    • @Yesthatsmyfirstname
      @Yesthatsmyfirstname 10 месяцев назад +2

      That's freaking wild 😳
You should give a Pixel phone a spin next. I switched from Sammy to Pixel and haven't looked back, though you would lose that stylus so if that's a massive selling point, not much can be done there. My Pixel has the weather widget and lock screen bonuses you talked about as the pluses of the iPhone though.
What's cool is if you use Google home devices and set a timer on one of those, even that shows on the lock screen of the phone so if you leave the room you set the timer in and get distracted, you don't miss your timer.

The one thing Kinsey liked the most, the weather, was because they bought a company (Dark Sky), pulled their code into the Apple weather app, and shut it down. So they didn't even develop it; they bought it. Then, they changed the APIs from free to pay so that if you want it on Android, you have to pay for an app that uses it, further extending their anti-competitive behavior.

I use a pc layout (num row on top, shift symbols are the same so 1 is !, 2 is @, etc.) in Google keyboard and could never get used to the random assortment of symbol locations Apple keyboard uses.

Matt & iPhone users: "I don't want to be able to control anything, tell me what is right! Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Everything Kinsey said is spot on. The lack of customization without work around, the weird app interactions, the default behavior of certain features, and a myriad of other reasons is why I'll never go to an iPhone. I loved my Samsung phones, but even they were getting too Apple like. Curently using a Pixel 6 Pro and see no reason to change any time soon.

I remembered getting my 1st iPhone on my 44th birthday 10 years ago on July 25th. It was an iPhone 5c in blue. My mother had a yellow one before me. I still have my 2nd iPhone which is an iPhone 8 in silver grey that I gotten in November 2017. Even my 3rd is a SE(2) in white a day before my 50th birthday. I also still have it,too. Now I’m using an iPhone 14 in purple since Black Friday 2022. I preferred using an iPhone since it is so easy to used. My way of learning to used an iPhone was just playing it. I tried to helped a friend just shortly after she gotten a SE(2) in red. That is or was her first iPhone. I haven’t seen her over 2 years ago or it might be 3.

I switched from an android to an iPhone 14 and I lasted a few weeks and I switched back to a google pixel. My main gripe is the layout. Can't move icons, can't customize the theme as much, Can't sideload apps. I like my RUclips revanced because I watch a ton of RUclips. I also like my 3 buttons. Gesture navigation is slower.

Kinsey seems to have the same exact complaints I did. I used one for about 2 1/2 weeks when my phone broke and I was waiting on insurance and the back button, keyboard, and app manager were killing me.
I hate the fact that we live on our phone but we do, and we want them to be what we want.
My wife, HARDCORE iPhone user agrees that android is better, but she doesn't care because she loves her iPhone, and I accept that.

I completely agree with the icon arrangement and having a nice desktop on the phone. I do the same thing with my PC and on android it just feels good to have it customized to my liking. All the points about getting emulators and just running 3rd party apps is on point, a real game changer when you are a power user. To me the standout of the OS is it's flexibility and functionality despite being as open to implement on different hardware of varying power. To me its the best OS and nothing since WebOS on the Palm Pre can match it.

Kinsey's a real one, lol. I got an iPad 2yrs ago through AT&T and I absolutely hate it. I wish I had gone with a Samsung Tab instead. Just general things like transferring files from my PC to the iPad are a pain in the @$$. My iPad has been delegated to being a VERY expensive RUclips video player and that is it. Seriously I only use it at work when I'm on my breaks either watching a RUclips video or a video I put on the iPad. I tried using it one time to edit a video, even going as far as buying a cheapish ($50.00) attachable keyboard but just finding a good free video editing app was a PITA. I have like 8 more payments to make on this iPad and once it's paid off it's going up on FB Marketplace and I'm using what I get from that to put towards a Samsung Tab. The only plus side is this exact iPad is still going for around $500 on the used market.

I agree with Kinsey. In a world where customisation is something we strive for, the iPhone actually seems very restrictive, with a lot of unnecessarily gimmicky apps. I think a lot of people (kids especially) only get them for the name. I'm sticking with Android myself.

  • @hellomynameisrodney

I was burned by Android early on, around iPhone 2-5 years. Android at the time seemed slower and it seemed like the longer I had things going, the slower it got. So I had Android for like 3 or so years and then when the iPhone 5 came out, I moved over and haven't been back since.

I switched to an iPhone for 1.5 years and just switched back to android. You don't get used to horrible ios it just continues to slowly kill you. All of the first party stuff like imessage on macbook or airdrop only work 25% of the time. I'm glad I gave it a shot to see what it was like but I'm even happier to be switching back.
