I still remember standing out in front of Circuit City back in 2006!! All night on Black Friday for a deal on a laptop, and the first two guys in line were drunk and walking up and down the line saying hello to everyone with Bud Lite in their hands - good times ☺️
As a former Circuit City employee of over 8 years, the thumbnail made me cry. Thanks guys.
You are a Man among boys, thanks for your service.
I miss circuit city. I still have great memories as a kid of buying a joystick on promo there but the promo was so good they actually paid me a penny to take the joystick haha, its also where I bought my first digital camera and my xbox 360. Was right up there with compusa and now closed frys :(
Yall hiring?
Medical IT here. Washable keyboards were a big deal during Covid. Also helps with extending their life of them in the gross room, where they use Dremel tools to cut open things like kneecaps while you install updates next to them.
The washable keyboard is legit; we use them at the hospital and they're great. There's even a washable mouse! I mean yes, they're membrane, but you can wash all the nasty junk that accumulates from your co-workers out of your keyboard. The bleach wipes used to clean workstations leaves a fibrous residue, but washing it takes that away. I usually just wash it in the sink
You can actually wash pretty much any keyboard as long as you’re just using water. If you’ve got a mechanical board with lubed switches it would be a pain because you’d have to re-lube them after washing, but yeah, as long as you let it dry fully before using it you can wash any keyboard.
@@charlesbrown4483 Not the same way. These keyboards are fully sealed and encased in a thick plastic with no openings, so there is no place for ... gunk... to get to outside of surface level. This one they have here is a 'newer' model, but still exceptionally more washable and easier to sanitize compared to a normal.
@@Artimidorus I mean it's a different design than a normal keyboard but they're both washable. Even with that design I wouldn't trust it enough to use it until it was air dried for a couple hours anyways. Most things that say they're water proof or resistant really aren't.
There are some small electronics stores around where I live that use to be Radioshack stores that continue to have Radioshack on their signs. Let me clarify, these stores were essentially Mom and Pop stores that were partnered with Radioshack
I applied to work at a Radio Shack once, didn't hear back from them. The last thing I bought at Circuit City was a stack of blank CDs and I think I still have most of them unused. I don't even have a CD/DVD drive in any PC I own anymore.
RadioShack did not go out of business. They just closed all their corporate stores. Franchise owners stayed open.
these guys don't really do great research, they also frame it as if RadioShack was a Tandy and pc retailer first, when they were an electronics part store for decades prior.
@@bcyrx Nobody cares about decades prior, boomer.
Yep, there's a RadioShack here on my town
Very true I live in a big city An last I checked we still had 2 radio shacks out here. Sure unless you live near them they prob didn't know but it's still kicking
@@agenericaccount3935 Some of us care. Accuracy is important now matter how old the subject matter.
That being said, This Is videos seem to be much more entertainment based than other/older Austin Evans videos so I don't come to this channel to learn...I come to play something in the background while I clean. So here I am anyways. 🤣
I had to make sure i was not having a stroke when i read Circuit city 🤣. ( low key was better than best buy tbh)
no channel of this size has this level of production quality
I worked at FYE for 4 years, ending my prison sentence there early this year around June. I never thought I would work a job that would make me want to wipe my existence off the face of the planet, and yet I did. For 4 years. I beg all of you to not give them a single cent of yours lmao and avoid their VIP and magazine programs at all costs.
Got to say this channel has definitely convinced me to buy some of these items like the ONN brand charger pad for your iPhone and Apple Watch definitely needed it and onn brand at Walmart isn’t to bad honestly if you don’t have tons of money onn brand isn’t a bad option. Love the channel guys
Just never ever rely on it
Why does this feel like a sponsored comment? 😳
Wtf is onn doing at circuit city? It's literally owned and created by walmart
@@nolanheistad2526 I’m commenting on the previous video lol
I actually live 15 minutes away from a privately owned RadioShack Location in New Holland, PA. It’s a neat little store and somehow was the only place in the area selling a DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort cable.
😂😂😂😂 sent him the wrong products then was like 'SUCK IT NERD!!! BRO I LAFFED EXTREMELY HARD!!!!!! Oh my😂😂😂😂😂
Surprisingly, there is still a radio shack 15 minutes from me. I have no idea how they are still open even though they are independently owned, but glad they are still kicking
FYE in Florida Mall was fantastic in the mid 2000's. Always went there when visiting from the UK.
The washable keyboard would be great to have in the lab I work in. I'd be afraid to touch my keyboard without gloves on most days
Me: oh, this episode isn’t going too bad
Austin: *smacks Matt with wrist rest*
Me: ah, there it is. The good old yellow $
Not Matt scratching Austin's ass for the yellow $?
I'm surprsied that these companies that went out of buisness still have websites up. I looked at Circuit City's site and all their products have the most generic pictures and have no reviews at all.
Can confirm, those seal shields are used in the hospital. I have probably setup over hundred of those things.
0:07 To be correct, there IS a Radio Shack in a town called Derby, KS and DOES still sell stuff.
Being happy about scamming is something that can only happen on this channel
The very end is worth sticking around for🤣🤣
You know it's funny always hearing about toys r us closing down in the US and you live in South Africa where there have like 40+ shops in all the big malls around the country. At my local mall, they even moved to a bigger shop in 2020
You guys just love getting scammed. And I'm here for it.
I bought a radio and door speakers from a local radioshack franchise last week.
I don’t understand how there was a mushroom and a snake on the table, and Matt didn’t make a “Badger Song” reference.
5:48 our mall still has an FYE lol
This feels like Matt is a host for a show for adults and Austin is one for a children’s show.
Austin is the Blues of Tech toubers.
Fair
@@austinevans hey at least your honest
Austin, the type of guy to release a 2022 video 2 days before 2023
No seriously that keyboard is legit. We also use those in the manufacturing industry because they don't short out from dust and metal dust or water used in machining
Great video 😂
You guys should do Big 5 Sporting Goods, they have a lot of product that'll be perfect for this xD
We use the seal shield keyboards in my hospital and they’re actually not terrible. Being able to actually clean them is major
I went to a mall in Costa Rica 2 years ago and found a Radio Shack. I was so damn excited because I hadn’t seen one in years. I got even more excited when I saw a sign that said they had PS5s in stock. I had been looking for one since they came out but never could get one. That plus the fact that at that point not a single store in America had ever gotten one in stock. I went to buy one and they said it was something like 1,000,000 colons which was at the time around $1,600. I was expecting a markup because 5 years prior when I was there I notice PS4 games that are $60 here were $100 there, but wasn’t expecting triple.
Im glad my name is not on that credit card. I think after the comp usa part I would cancel it.
"I'm monitoring the situation" 🤣
I want an all denim gaming rig video. The Jouse, the Jomputer, a Jeyboard, all while Matt and Austin wear the Jong
I used to work in a RadioShack for a few years. Always had a lady come in solo looking for a particular battery. Each time I would ask her what it was for, she refused to tell me every time. Last time I saw her, she came in with a guy and never saw her again. Good for her I said in my head! 👍 Another time, I helped a different lady with a Zoombak GPS tracker and voice recorder, she came back and just screamed, "I caught the son of a B with his coworker!" She thanked me and went about her day. I enjoyed working there and met interesting people with unique issues. Hated pitching RSSPs though.
Best product review I've heard in a long time. She bought it, it did what it needed, and she came out better for it.
Worked for them from beginning of 07 until their close in NH.
Had a lot of fun.
In nowhere Ohio there is a Radio Shack, right next to Subway and the Vape shop, I saw it today while eating my sammich.
Yes there are still independently owned stores that had a name franchise with Radioshack. Those stores weren't owned by the actual corporation and weren't part of the whole bankruptcy deal. My town still has a computer store with some Radioshack signage on it. It was basically a way for small shops to pay and get some instant name recognition to attract customers.
Radio Shack does exist. There is still an actual store in Belle Fourche, SD
In a town near me there is actually a radio shack still standing and open
If you pause the video at 5:41 you can see the crappy Radio Shack tablet is $98.99 it says 4 payments of $24.75 through zip but the delivery thing is definitely a scam
Getting ripped off by online retailers that scam people is why charge-backs exist for credit cards you should make a follow-up video detailing the process of commencing charge-backs for every purcahe that you were scammed on that way you can empower your viewers with knowledge of how to get their money back if ripped off.
I second this.
Man. I was waiting for a ThisIs celebrity feature. How did y’all get Logic on this??
I actually went to a physical FYE store pretty recently. I can say that they do sell a lot of "pop culture" stuff other places don't, and I got a nice lanyard for like $12, but the general gaming stuff you could get in person was cheap as well lmao.
As someone who use d to work at hospital that keyboard is legit , we have had companies send us equipment that just came with those and never had any trouble
7:14 The WASD on the arrow keys is so when you wear the legend off the WASD you can swap them out with the arrow keys and have the legend back.
Hey guys great video.
As a former Radio Shack employee (a long time ago) lets clairify for the kiddies Radio Shack was its own store founded in 1921 before being bought by Charles Tandy (Tandy leather goods) in 1962. Then became its own entity in 2000ish. Tandy did make it a huge success and it was a great resource for the tinkerers as well as the casual non-tech savvy folks.
“You have questions, We’ve got answers.” Was the motto they lived by but what eventually killed Radio Shack was pushing cell phones, long distance home phone services, and satellite dish subscriptions. Instead of competing in their core niche products like components and other hard to find items. Online competition would have eventually hurt them but they were always extremely more expensive than any competition with the idea that they would be able to help the customer demistify the technology but in the end Radio Shack like many other companies completely lost its customer service quality and never adjusted its prices. Pushing subscriptions to things nobody wanted when they just came in for batteries, components, etc eventually driving away the core customer because they made more money from strategic partnerships with Sprint, RCA, Verizon, AT&T, etc. Then all these wireless companies creating their own stores killing the need to go to Radio Shack just added to getting bombarded with pressured sales pitches from Radio Shack employees also drive customers away.
I apologize for the long rant. Radio Shack was a fun place to work during the end of HS and some of my college years. I learned a lot about customer service and business. Unfortunately Radio Shack didn’t learn to adapt nor have the foresight to see that they really needed to.
Radioshack stores can be found around Central America and the Caribbean 😂😂
I have a RadioShck still open in my little town some how, it’s kinda mind blowing.
I live about 40ish minutes away from one of the last physical locations for a Radio Shack that I am aware of in my state. Now im unsure if they are still open due to the pandemic but man, I had a lifetime warranty on an aux cord I really wanted to test out the policy.
Ahhh… radio shack. Kids may not know this but at one time Tandy computers were actually pretty solid.
I loved Radio Shack!
My town has so many old stores we have a physical radio shack 😭
I got to say the FYE has gone way downhill over the past 10 years and striving way far from the stores original planed selling products. Cause I remember walking into one of my local FYE stores 20 years ago and about 75% of the store was filled with Music, Movies, and Video games. But some time ago that particular location moved to the other side of the mall that is in a smaller spot. The last time I was in that store was early December of 2021 and 75% of the store was pop culture collectable stuff. Also my mom used to work at a COMPusa 23 years ago before they closed down the stores. The main thing I remeber about COMPusa is that they were one of the big 3 Big-box Consumer Electronic retailers. But they did have a good selection of computer hardware parts that's almost equivalent to what Microcenter has. Also over the years that particular COMPusa location has been a fitness gym for a while and is now an Aldi. It's also located right next to a Barns & Nobile. That Barns & Nobile has been there for at least 20 years or so. If I'm not mistaken it was there at the same time when my mom was working at COMPusa.
I mean Matt, as an “upstate” NYer, i’m shocked you didn’t know that FYE has made a resurgence. At least in the two malls in western New York they have.
I gave that same freaking mushroom! 😂😂
Woah hold up! Tandy made radio shack?! I had a Tandy 1000 as a kid, dad always took me to radio shack, I never fricking knew the two were even connected 😅 bro I miss radio shack.... and dos
Still have a RadioShack in my little hometown.
Lol dial up modem 😂😂😂
There is. a Radio Shack down the street from me with Branded products and still have the drawers of electronic components.
Why does austin look like logic with that hat on 🤣🤣
We use those seal shield keyboards for real in the hospital!
That hypergear gaming bundle can be found in dollar general lmao.
There is an FYE in a mall close enough to my house. The mall is basically half empty and somehow FYE is still there, but worse than ever. I remember being a kid and when we got to go there, it was an event. So many cool things, toys, games, movies, posters, etc. now it’s indeed funko pop land and some random shitty dvds with some other random pop culture shit. Sad way for it to go out.
My local FYE somehow is still holding on but they have majorly downside from having CDs and DVDs to selling candy, trinkets and stuffed animals. It's just a matter of time before they will be gone forever due to how we get our entertainment.
As someone who worked in a Radio Shack my freshman year of college, I both want and fear the Radio Shack hat.
Hello there ThisIs! :D
Yeah, I have a radio shack near my Mimi‘s house. We go there all the time to look at stuff, so RadioShack did not go out of business. They still have stores open because we go there all the time.
Shower beers are lit I haven’t even Hurd the review in it take my money
About the washable keyboard many hospitals I’ve been at use that same keyboard, it’s decent, for a hospital
Cracked out of my Jouse
dude..back in the day..Austin and toys R'us would've made the BEST collab
I remember when I was a kid Radio Shack had this badass giant remote control Godzilla. I wanted one so bad but alas we were to poor to get one. Also its kind of sad because Radio Shack was the place to get your computer parts and ham radio parts. It sucks for folks like me who hate ordering stuff online.
i worked at a hospital and swapped all their keyboards out for that exact washable keyboard.
i have that jouse i bought it at walmart its generic branded for a few companies mine is Onn. it actually a good travel mouse battery life is excellent
I thought RadioShack was dead too...until I moved to Utah. There's an operating RadioShack store down the road in Layton. I went in because I was looking into HAM Radio stuff. They only really had CB, but I looked around and it seems like a pretty typical RadioShack. A bunch of small electronics hardware in the back and RC Cars, TVs, etc up front.
Hey Austin Evans i have a question im building my own pc and i would wonder if tou would help me out to set it up like the wiring and where to plug them in would you be able to help me
lol @ "the only outragious charge after 'compusa ' took our money, was from Radio Shack"
Best thing about radio shack for me where the remote control toys call super street xmods
Austin: We got scammed! >:(
Matt: We got scammed! :D
Don't crap on the Battery Shack man. Now we spend endless hours walking around a grocery store looking for batteries.
When the mushroom is lit
there has been the same toys r us in my city since like 1995 lol
Tandy was also a leather company that turned into a computer company
didnt know matt and logic did a collab
Radio Shack was SO freeking awesome
Austin. You have a tiny head
There is a radio shack down the street from my house still selling new radio shack items
best thing i ike seeing is ya review on items ik cost ya evertime doing video it helps me as gamer what good are suck
I have that fellowes wrist rest and it’s actually pretty good
There are still physical locations of radio shack, in fact i live a few minutes from 1. Pretty wierd
man, I use to go to FYE back in the 90s and early 2000s for DVDs now he's right all they seem to sell is funko pops and t-shirts like every other store now at the mall.
jokes on u theres a radio shack in my town
i wish radio shack would come back. I miss going to my local one all the time .
Agreed! I was a regular parts drawer customer until one day they just offered me a job. Fun gig while I was in college.
i had search up information i thought circuit city was it own branch from radio shack but here fun fact circuit city brought out radio shack in 2005 so title of this video not clickbait
The arrow caps on my Red Dragon also say WASD. HELP, HOW HAVE I NOT NOTICED THIS BEFORE
I work 4 buildings away from FYE’s headquarters in Albany NY.
Bro I miss Radio Shack I used to go there all the time.
12:20 "bio juice" should be banned from our language lmao
