Brill thanks Sean glad you enjoy the videos 🫶🏼. If you like a series I’ve got a few from long distance hikes in the UK which I really enjoyed doing and filming
Yeah I really wanted to but I know it’s better to pitch the foot end into the wind and unfortunately that meant the head end was lower as I was on a slope so only choice was to sleep the other way around. Looking forward to sleeping the other way though as definitely more space. Thank you
@@krisgleave They’re absolutely bombproof Kris. I had the RL years ago and sold it… regretfully. I was fortunate to get the BL when it became available. Many happy adventures with yours mate. 👍🏼
@dougieranger I’ve heard many people sell them and regret it and that’s a nice upgrade. One day I might try and get hold of 10ml poles for it but they’re expensive and hard to find. Some say it’s even better so will see. Cheers Kris
@@krisgleaveI really did regret it. To be honest, I think the RL is sufficient since it’s so strong at the crossover point. You could always double pole with 2 x 9mm sets though it’s probably unnecessary Kris.
@dougieranger Yeah I’ve heard people doing that but like you said, for UK I think it’s fine. I’d always check weather and never head out intentionally if it was bad but appreciate if the weather rolled in this would be fine.
It’s a game changer. Another tip is to use heat shrink but tricky on the Hilleberg zips as they’re really big but it’s another way of doing it. Haha I know. To be fair I’ve been over striding edge and sharp edge with no spikes and was fine but so much better with them.
Great video! Can I ask where your drinking cup is from? I’ve been looking for one with a lid & heat protective sleeve! Thanks in advance if you see this 😁
Thanks Jaz really appreciate it. The cup is the GSI Infinity Backpacker Mug. I’ve had it for years and just haven’t used it for ages but it’s great. Lid is secure and has a little handle. Also the cup is like a beaker with measurements which comes out of the sleeve it’s great. Off on a camp today so I’ll talk more about it in the video for you.
Haha just a bit blustery 😂. How are you liking the Unna, I see it a lot on YT at the moment? Filmed this on the DJI Action 4. I do have a Pocket 3 I use when in the tent too if it’s dark.
Hi mate, I went wild camping for the first time this Saturday and ended up on Dock Tarn. By the looks of it you took more stuff than me but I struggled to fit all mine. I've got the leviathan 900 also and even in it's smaller stuff sack it took up like half of my Gelert shadow 60+ pack. Can you link me the pack or any storage solutions you have. You have opened my eyes with some of the little tips in here also so thank you.
One of the tricks is don’t use a stuff sack for your sleeping bag….i don’t use one. I just have one 60K dry bag / pack liner. Stuff your sleeping bag in the bottom and it’ll fill all the areas. Putting in a stuff sack gives you less space. Try that and see how you go.
@@Manofmanyhobbies86 Just use a compactor sack or polythene bag you don’t need the expensive ones they sell. Your existing pack should get everything in and have space depending on how much you take etc… Atom Packs are good but pricey. I have mine as it’s for long distance hikes but now I use for all my camps where I need a slightly bigger bag as sold my other packs.
@@krisgleave yeah I've seen the poly ones will probably go with that. The Atom is expensive but I like the features and after watching many reviews on it...I just really want it 🤣.
@gordonjervis770 Haha that’s as good an excuse as any. I always tell people to make sure it’s what they want as an Osprey for example has superior padding and sits off your pack. These don’t. The selling point of these is really the lightweight side of things
Hi Kris, just come across your channel, Your content is brilliant +1 Sub and I will be keeping an eye out for your next adventure. I've just invented in the Allak 2 with 10mm poles as I needed some extra room with my dog, I noticed you also own a Motorola Defy like myself, Have you seen the news about the Bullit company going bust 😥. The company folded on January 26th so no idea how long they will keep working.
Cheers Andrew thank for that. Been a couple of weeks with no videos but about to start looking at footage from my most recent snow camp and it was epic so hopefully that should be out on Monday. How are you finding the Allak? Theyre good aren’t they and sure the extra space comes in handy too. And yeah I wonder what’s going to happy with it. The Zoleo has the best messaging service out there but hated the form factor and love the Defy for that so hopefully someone picks it up and invests.

Why you calling Soto Windmaster MSR Windburner? different stoves, except similar name.
I’d have to watch it back, is that what I call it? 😂. Yeah fully aware it’s the Windmaster I’ve had it for years I’ve probably see too many videos later talking about the Windburner and the name in my head. Probably Messners video 😂
I cut all my metal zip pulls off all my tents and replaced them with dyneema 3mm cord, with the amount of zip pulls on the soulo you'd save a good few grams as well. Great video 👍🏻
I do that with other tents and was always my intention with this…but then I got it…and didn’t want to devalue it 😂. Saying that, I really don’t want to ever sell this tent so maybe I’ll just do the same. Would love to know the weight of all the zips 😂
If you check the weather for that night it was before the storms were arriving and winds on that summit was 40-50mph that night consistent. Stronger the following day

I love Wales too and have some routes around there on there too. Tryfan is ace isn’t it
Hi Kris. Have just come across your channel, really enjoyed this video so have subscribed. Will be checking out your past videos and look forward to seeing your new ones 👍
Brill thanks Sean glad you enjoy the videos 🫶🏼. If you like a series I’ve got a few from long distance hikes in the UK which I really enjoyed doing and filming
Spot on Kris. I'll definitely be giving them a watch 👍
🤙🏼
Great stuff!
If you sleep the other way round its actually slightly wider for you head and shoulders.
Yeah I really wanted to but I know it’s better to pitch the foot end into the wind and unfortunately that meant the head end was lower as I was on a slope so only choice was to sleep the other way around. Looking forward to sleeping the other way though as definitely more space. Thank you
That looked a little bit blowy 😂 tent stood up well
Yeah it was brutal at times but tent was solid. Considering pegs were only half way in too but they all stayed put
stop robbing paul mesners saying you kris 😛great video mate as always i have that tent light off temu and i always drop a like kris
Haha love it. Which tent is it you’ve bought off Temu?
Liked & Subbed, love my Soulo BL.
Awesome thank you. They’re great aren’t they. I bought my used in mint condition but if buying new probably would’ve opted for the BL
Taped zippers, good one😊
Cracking video. What did we do before spikes? I don't mean crampons either.😊
He he. That looked like a calm night..🙂👍❄️ I got the Unna. What do you use for filming?
Haha just a bit blustery 😂. How are you liking the Unna, I see it a lot on YT at the moment? Filmed this on the DJI Action 4. I do have a Pocket 3 I use when in the tent too if it’s dark.
@@krisgleave Just used a few times in winter but it seems very good so far. 👍❄️
@@krisgleave been looking at all sorts mate. Just waiting for pay day and gonna invest in an Atom Mo 60 with a liner. Thank you mate, keep posting 👍
@@Manofmanyhobbies86 Just use a compactor sack or polythene bag you don’t need the expensive ones they sell. Your existing pack should get everything in and have space depending on how much you take etc…
Atom Packs are good but pricey.
Are people in Enland only allowed to wear Rab hats? 😂
Haha. To be fair my actual hat is a Salomon I only have the Rab headband. Do prefer it to a hat sometimes to keep your ears warm but not overheat 🤙🏼
February mid winter class normal weather
It’s not often you get snow like that in the lakes so loving it. I know we’ve still had snow in March so let’s hope we get more
@@krisgleave not unusual in winter
WIll the Soulo survive 50mph winds? My Soulo thinks that you are having a laugh.
If you check the weather for that night it was before the storms were arriving and winds on that summit was 40-50mph that night consistent. Stronger the following day
