- Taking my Hilleberg Soulo BL on its maiden voyage and it only made sense to take it to the summit of Green Gable in the Lake District to the exact spot that my previous tent failed which led me to bailing in the dark. ( Give it a watch if you haven’t already ) The weather wasn't great which made filming difficult but was glad to get out into the mountains again.
Look out for the next Wild Camping video that was filmed the following night after this video.

I am so glad you have this tent. From the wild and windy videos I have watched using the hilleberg for such weather, you are bound to be way safer in high winds and rain and snow. Your safety must always be number one no matter what. Thank you. Xx

You could easily spend 150 a night in a hotel. I think this justifies the investment. You did well to source this so fast. I either need to pay now and wait until end of May. Or hope somewhere in Europe gets stock. I’m after the sand coloured BL too :)
Thats so true, yeah as soon as I decided I wanted a Soulo BL in sand i quickly realised nowhere has them in stock. I even messaged Hilleberg but they said none will be arriving in UK for at least another month or 2.. I was then told about a french company that sells them so managed to get the last Soulo BL in sand that they had.

@@GoodBlokeOutdoors i know what your saying times precious and u cant change the weather to suit ur days off ... ive got all my gear together now ( i think 🤔) so no excuses now ive enjoyed watching you tubers doing it and now i want to do it , hainworth woods first night out then hopefully i'll try that secret spot nr you with my lad 🤞 then my aim is it small water? hopefully with my ex girlfriend shes got 'iffy' knees so cant be too far a trek before camp and i believe its a mile or so ? but youve inspired me mate 👍 ..spent last 6 month buying gear and im desperate to get out there 😁... great video liam 👍-my big concern is getting bored if im

Hilleberg Soulo has one major design flaw; It only has one single ventilation point and that is located on the top of the tent. The problem is that in rainweather in combination with strong winds the water will drip from the roof and the movement of the outer tent (caused by the wind) will spray the water everywhere inside the tent leaving your gear wet. One single ventilation point also means that you get no proper air-flow through the tent, which is maybe good if there is -20degrees celsius outside and snowstorm, but not so good in any normal conditions as it inevitably leads to condensation. And condensation IS a problem for both Hilleberg Soulo and the Allak.
Thanks for the comment… i do get condensation if i sleep with the inner tent fully zipped, never had an issue with water getting in and wetting my gear though and I’ve had it out in heavy wind and driving rain

Never been up great gable or green gable , been close many times at styhead tarn but this one is on my never did it list lol , glad you had a great night in the soulo , i can see you and that tent having some epic adventures .

Just Picked up My New Hilleberg Soulo BL , Just need to find the time to get out & Test it! ⛺🥾
I'd takea tunnel any day due to the bigger porch. wouild be bit nervous cooking so close to the flysheet.
With regard to using the ceiling vent to get rid of Co2, Co2 is heavier than air.
Recently got a Soulo BL, love it. Only downside is condensation. Unlike my Akto, the foot of sleeping bag touches the inner (akto has 1 foot to spare) making it damp which is not a big deal. When no wind, have had water droplets dripping onto my sleeping bag from the inner, even with the mesh panel open aswell as the outer vent, but then again not a big deal. The Soulo has alot more inner room than the akto making getting chnged alot easier, the porch though smnaller is adequate, plenty of room for cooking, not as small as it appears on videos.
My akto is super strong with 2x10mm poles, but the Soulo is stronger.
Will get a 2nd 10mm pole for the side when they become available to eliminate the weakness of the Soulo, the side.

The weather was grim but some times you just have to make the most of it.the tent looked great and worth every penny in conditions like that.i hd the niak out weather was pretty fair so not a test as such but I'm loving how easy it is to pitch and the room is great got a cpl mods I'm going to do add a reflective guy line on the door and the tension cord change that for a reflective 1
Thats it mate, cos of work gotta pick my times to camp and stick to it irrelevant of conditions ( within reason ) so just luck of the draw when it comes to the weather. If your on instagram follow me and you’l after send some photos of the Niak over when pitched 👍🏼

Another cracking video Liam. One question, some guys have said that the Soulo has a condensation issue. So far have you found that to be true?
Thanks mate, I’ve had 1 night ( out of 3 so far ) where I had condensation , because I fell asleep with the vent fully closed. Not too bad though. Thanks for watching buddy.
Is it cramped for a person above 6' or around 190cm? :s
didnt seem to be much room for the mat mate - how long is that for ref or did you have it propped at 45 deg whilst relaxing and food then flat for sleep?
Yeah i had it up strapped to the trekker chair for chilling just keep me propped up then dropped it down flat to sleep.
Full length of soulo inside is 7 foot 2 or 2.2 metres.. so pretty long to be fair.
Hiya mate, i have the cloud peak 2 and last time I went out in it, I was freezing. Is this tent warmer.
This is much warmer tent as its 4 season and you can close off all the mesh. What sleeping system are you using mate? bag & mat.

The backpack itself is quite heavy at about 1.8kg but fully loaded with all my gear on this trip i’m not sure. I’m out again in a couple days so i’ll give it a weigh before I leave the house.
