  • 🏞️ *Hiking Adventure in Snowdonia: Unexpected Snowstorm in the Glyderau! ❄️*
    This was an unforgettable hiking and wild camp up the stunning Glyderau in Snowdonia, Wales in the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 3. Despite a clear and sunny weather forecast, nature had a surprise in store for us - the mountains covered in a blanket of snow, turning our hike into an epic winter wonderland experience! What an awesome place for the first wild camp of 2024.
    Our trail led us alongside the foot of Tryfan, a mountain known for its distinct profile and challenging ascent up the North Ridge - my favourite! It was just a fleeting visit this time passing by but hope to return there soon for another scramble.
    Shout out to ‪@itsmescottp‬ for the help with the route 🤙🏼
    ⛺ ** Wild Camping in Winter Wonderland: Glyder Fach Summit **
    We quickly tagged the summit of Glyder Fach, the second-highest peak in the Glyderau range, standing proudly at 994 meters above sea level. Then as the weather closed in, I searched for the perfect wild camping spot for the Abisko Lite 3. Had a bit of a mare pitching it this time as you'll see in the video but hopefully sorted for next time.
    🌨️ ** Winter Wonderland: The challenge packing up camp **
    Awakening to even more snow, I then faced the challenge of packing away the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 3 tent with the wind and snow blowing in. Just about managed it haha.

      Cheers Dave. Yeah it’s a strange one as absolute love being out I thrive of it and need it but not sure what stops me. I’m going to change things up and start putting dates in the diary and going regardless of weather and anything else. Think it’s the best way as leaving to the last minute to decide often doesn’t work for me

    I can sympathise with your pitching woes, I always solo camp and always used small single pole tents but decided to treat myself to some more space so got an Abisko Light 2. A couple of pitches in the garden to see how it goes and then time to hit the snow covered mountains, the wind didn't do what it was supposed to and decided to blow at 40mph with gusts over 60 whilst changing direction. The tent was going everywhere in every shape, the ground was frozen solid making pegging out a slow process and when I got one pole fitted the tent turned into a stunt hang glider rolling over a few times while levitating several feet in the air on the end of a guy line, at this stage I decided I would scrap the pitching attempt and spend another considerable amount of time trying to get the unruly brute back into its bag before heading down. Hoping for better luck the next time.
    At least you have a new subscriber.

      @krisgleave  5 месяцев назад +1

      Haha I shouldn’t laugh but can literally picture that camp. Can be a nightmare pitching some tents can’t it. I’ve found the trick with this one is to pitch the pack 3 points first. Just make sure they’re good and the rest follows suit.
      As my last camp the tent was wet I separate it all apart (ground sheet, inner and outer) and put it all back together but must’ve missed a couple of clips. It made it a nightmare to pitch and the back wasn’t great. And when it was pitched I noticed the ground sheet wasn’t attached properly and couldn’t rectify especially as it was windy so left it.
      The tent was still solid which was good. But definitely need to pitch the back first then it’s good.
      Great to have you on board thank you

      @ExploreAboveAndBelow 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@krisgleave feel free to laugh buddy, it was just one of those situations that went from bad to worse so no point in getting wound up about it but just see the humour. I had the rear pegged out and the vent guy attached to a ground anchor when the tent got sucked up by the freaky weather I was in the middle of and released itself from the rear pegs whilst doing several barrel rolls and thankfully still attached to the ground anchor.
      My back garden is obviously way to sheltered for trials 😉

      @krisgleave  5 месяцев назад +1

      @ExploreAboveAndBelow Sounds extreme haha but lived to tell the tail. Ground anchors and definitely worth having. I have them but never take them. Just picked up 4 titanium ground anchors I’ll be taking in future as smaller and lighter

    "castle of the gwent"? It's not a big deal, but at least try and make an effort to pronounce this Castell y Gwynt. The Welsh ll isn't the same as the English l (admittedly it's tricky) The y in Gwynt is sounded more like i in English, not like an e - it's nothing to do with the county of Gwent in south Wales. Or just play safe and stick to Castle of the Winds, if you haven't a clue about the Welsh pronunciation.
