Hi! I'am kelly joining your fabulous channel from here, the canary islands.I never went camping but watching you I am thinking about doing it. Keep at it cause I will be watching all your adventures!!!!😊
Good evening Luke, you were just speaking about your mess up of 2023. I had a good one myself! Just started running along the sea front where I live, must have run about half a kilometre, when I caught my trainers on the cobbles and went flying. Managed to break my right shoulder, plus a few minor injuries, out of action for nearly 4 months, had to cancel a couple of road races, not able to work, and all my own fault 😔 and kept beating myself up about it. Best wishes to you and your family for 2024.
Diana, you are just human -please don’t feel bad when a true accident happens. Instead think of how long you’ve gone without one! What a blessing! We all trip, stumble, get knocked off balance by a pet, etc. sorry your accident was so impactful, but glad you ultimately healed and can look forward to new adventures.
For me, I am grateful to be up and running. This time last year the tumor in my head quietly upgraded itself from a decade old grade 2;to an honest to goodness grade 3. But I’m still here, fighting the good fight.🤙
Thanks Luke for the wonderful videos on both channels, they have been very beneficial for my healing process from my recent surgery on Monday. As silly as it sounds your videos really do help me to relax and just chill while I'm recovering.
Enjoying this so much ! I love these adventures. For one thing I've spent the last year recovering from brain surgery. Surgery full of good news and for a grandma whodjust retired, I love much about my new life---except my sense of balance, which is returning so slow. Love to see you moving so freely. Thing that is great is seeing new gear, too. I'm temporarily "camping" out in my recliner. Fireplace in case of New England ice storm.. basically I prepare a checklist as if I'm camping out each week, which gives me some self-sufficiency. And I'm getting better. My goal is to camp out for at least 1 night this summer. The icing on the top of everything is the beauty of the nature videography you share. Thank you so much!
Hoar frost on the way in was pretty. We have all had those whoops or more precise, Oh Crap moments. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe and God bless.
Luke has so much experience downrange and he has truly tested and vetted all of his gear to the point he can easily survive conditions that would be the end of most of us. Luke is a 110% percenter. I wish he was training our light Infantry.
Such beautiful photography. I love the beauty of the white snow on the black trees - such a contrast. Such detail - it's amazing. Thank you for doing such a great job for us to enjoy.
Been there, done that with my truck, but a quality aftermarket bumper with a Warn winch & a couple of auxiliary lights would add to both the value and the utility of the Tundra. You never know when a good winch can really save the day, and it looks good too!
I figured out another suggestion for those TEMU heating pads. Cut the toe out of a pair of socks. Pull one of the socks over your water bottle, then pull the other sock over the first sock and slide the heaters in at the bottom. Voila….an emergency water bottle defrost and you can still use the heaters for other purposes.
0:15 I'm trying to figure out why you use plastic water bottles. Wouldn't it be better to put water in a stainless steel bottle, so when it freezes, you can stick it in/near the fire and not worry about melting or plastic leaching into the water? 💖🌞🌵😷
@@suzisaintjames I guess you haven’t carried 65 lb plus on a weekend camping trip where ever ounce counts soft hydration packs carried close to your body don’t freeze 🥶
So glad that Luke tests out all the hiking gadgets because I am a hiking gadget freak, although I don’t backpack anymore, just day hikes. Hang in there Luke and keep testing.
? Why do you put your tent so far from the tarp wind break? Really enjoy your videos. Have you seen the three second tent? Wonder how long it really takes looks nice & easy.
@@karenjohnson3832 was wondering that myself. i get the whole dnt cook where you sleep and dnt store your food there either if your in bear country. but why wouldnt he park it closer for a wind break. i get sometimes the terrain isnt perfect and you just cant. i would try to put the opening on one side of the tarp and inward so the rain or snow stays out.
I noticed your water bottle. Thanks to a gear review you did, I know have my own Hardside Nalgene bottle system. I have the insulated sleeve as well. No more bladders that can get gross. Thank you!
Think I’ll watch this in bed tonight. I love these types of videos. Especially in the cold weather. I’ve never actually been camping in any shape or form and I actually would love to do it. I know lots are put off by the cold but that kinda appeals to me. Getting inside sleeping bag and getting warm, while it’s pissing down outside of tent, is soothing for me.
Hi everyone!! I rarely post, but couldn’t help it this time. I’m by no means any type of backpacker or camper albeit would luv to be. My only skill with anything similar was my enlistment in US Army. So, here’s my thought regarding some comments about a frozen water bottle. As long as it didn’t burst you can still melt the ice inside it by suspending it over the heat above the fire. As close to BUT without burning or melting the water bottle. But as someone suggested, melting snow and placing the the water bottle in boiling snow water is prob the easiest. Luke, love your channel. Keep doing what you’re doing. Sorry about your truck but there are worse things that can happen. (I was in a motorcycle accident years ago. Had a nice touring bike BUT was overloaded and had to come to a really quick stop. Got down to slow enough speed but lost traction & lost control of the bike. Totaled it. Result: wife fractured a wrist, knee. I fractured a thumb and a toe. No one else hurt thank God. No one to blame but myself. Hard lesson learned. ) Be safe everyone God Bless.
You’ve always had a good eye for camera angles and transitions. I’m not sure if you’re studying or just getting better, but I have noticed that the production skills on this video is top notch. Kudos my friend.

My old farmhouse property adjoins a state park and a trail head is a few hundred feet from my front porch. Right before Christmas, I went out to the mailbox and when I was there, thought I'd just take a quick check to see how muddy the trail was since I planned a Christmas day hike. Took just a step or two on the trail wearing sneakers with no tread, slipped on a bit of frost, twisted my foot and broke my fibula right at the ankle joint. Otherwise it was a great year!
Liked seeing the Stanley kit and BCB being used. My go to kit., but of course I like old school too. I use the Firedragon tabs. I located some dirt cheap. They do put out some good heat.
Happy New year Luke and everyone else. I need to catch up to more reviews. I've slipped and missed quite a bit. I know Luke get many texts ect. I know he won't read my texts. But for those that do? I love his trips. I don't think I will ever do this. I don't drive. I have no gear or money to do this. I have serious health issues from having prostate cancer for a second time. But watching Luke is all I need. So exciting watching him or Susie. I just turned 60 Jan 4th and hopefully get a camping trip in the near future. When Luke has breakfast, lunch or dinner he makes me hungry with those meals. I'm a chef I can make these things. But also when Luke has his coffee I need to brew up my decaffeinated coffee for myself and join him 😃☕ Not too long ago I purchased their cap "Strength and Honor" I love his Moto....I think that's what it's called? Well another episode watched I'll check out previous videos I skipped or missed. Strength and Honor everyone and of course our great friend Luke & Susie ❤❤❤❤❤

Luke, If you haven't fixed your bumper yet.... Check out the Toyota specific ARB bumbers .... You can also color match those to your factory color as well... And they absolutely do not lower the value of a pickup. Especially a tundra like yours.... Winch capable as well... Just a thought....
I enjoy watching these videos. I was never a camping camper. My body was built for comfort. I’ll just stay in the RV. What about an old-fashioned hot water bottle? You could just recycle the water back-and-forth. Heat it use the bottle then reheat the water again.
Very relaxing video. Everyone has one of those days. I usually know mine when I keep dropping stuff. As soon as I get up I’m dropping something than I know how my day will be. My husband will say well that makes three times you dropped something. I just laugh because I know it’s going to get better.
Much braver than I, I have zero tolerance to cold and snow....all those Michigan winters....taught me to hibernate lol..... another video I've enjoyed...living semi-wild through you ! Stay safe , stay healthy, stay happy, stay warm !
Hi Luke, you always remind me of the simple things in life to enjoy like the sound of the rain, thunder storm, wildlife sounds and even the perfect snowflake. The best things in life are free we just need to reminds ourselves where to look. This area you're in is beautiful with the snow trying to land and stay and very cold, but you always have the right supplies with you to handle it. What's the worst environment / area and climate you've ever camped in whether it be cold or hot weather? Moreover, what's the best cold or hot?
My biggest messup, like you, involved my 2008 Toyota Tacoma Offroad(my baby). On 101 just inside LA, towing my Scamp 13’. To avoid merging cars who don’t merge but speed up. I reacted badly and scuffled with a car in the other lane. My fault but thank thr Good Lord no one was hurt. Off to the repair it goes. Stay safe out there Great video🤙

Looks like the bumper cover just popped off. Held on with plastic clips you can get for a few bucks. Probably be able to re-use you original black cover. The bumper itself is a steel frame and wont need replacing.
It's another "adventure" where we once again watch someone make instant coffee and then pour hot water into a bag. Good thing the "storm" turned out to be only a dusting of snow and the wind didn't devastate acres and acres of forest.
You didn’t have to watch it-we chose to. I enjoyed it very much-because I like Luke, backpacking, camping, gear and snow. Just because it’s not a hurricane doesn’t mean it’s not a storm-just ask the Weather Channel.
The amount of kit haha! I love it! Bring whatever you can carry, and obviously you can carry more leisure items on shorter trips. But man, you have a whatchamacallit for every occasion 😂 Keep it up!
As far as keeping water bottles from freezing I always bring hot hands for warmers. You open the package up and stick the sticky part of the warmers to the bottle and it will usually keep it from freezing, if not warm
