Melatonin has helped my daughter quite a bit (shes Autistic). She doesn't take it every night, but it helps when she's restless.

I take it just before bed , but I never have problems going to sleep , it’s waking a few hours later with mind racing , it just seems to keep me more relaxed right through the night

Some medications can suppress melatonin production too. I'm on beta blockers to lower heart rate and they suppress melatonin along with adrenaline. I was waking every two hours during the night for years, but recently started on 2mg melatonin and finally am only waking twice a night with more restful sleep.

@@reneemupeti6438 As I said, I was taking 2mg melatonin tabs every night & it worked for better sleep. Based on the advice given by Sleep Doctor (that seniors shouldn't take more than half of one mg) I dropped my dose to 1mg. Within a few weeks I couldn't sleep any longer than 6hrs, no good. So I am taking 1mg most nights and 2mg every so often.

Melatonin can be pretty scary. I’m on thyroid medication and I took a very small dose of melatonin for about 2 months. I experienced a depression like I’ve never had before and it made my tsh drop (while also lowering my t4, which made no sense). This was six years ago and my low tsh never quite recovered and endocrinologists just kept trying to lower my synthroid having no clue as to why this happened. All it did was lower t4 even more while the tsh barely budged. I wish I had never taken melatonin and was something I had to ween off of for several nights.

Wow, glad I just didn't go out and get some for my awakening several times per night.

Would you please recommend a brand of melatonin and where we can buy it. Thank you.

Lots of serious side effects to taking this in drug form [vs supporting your body to make its own]. Look up the studies Andrew Huberman has reviewed on it.

My chronology type is dolphin and melatonin acts like caffeine for me. I can't take it. It keeps me awake.

There is no melatonin retard in liquid so if you have trouble staying asleep, you’ll want a pill, but the right one.
