I had a brain haemorrhage, eight years ago, and the dreams I had after I woke out of my coma, were surreal and reoccuring. The concepts of the dreams were like: a pile of people dead on top of me and I couldn't move or feel my body; me calling out for help and no one can hear me; me talking to someone I knew and and having them reply with, "I'm not Wendy, I'm a nurse at St George Hospital", etc. Turned out I had the haemorrhage, became paralysed(couldn't move or feel my body), calling out for help(in my coma, and no one could hear me- I was just reliving it), trying to speak to "Wendy's" better nature(turned out to be a nurse by my ear telling me she's not Wendy, she's a nurse).... Anyway, after I came to, the hospital provided a neuro-psychologist, and she said, "your brain knows your body is in danger(I had emergency brain surgery, and was swollen) and is trying to put two and two together to help you understand, but it doesn't have two and two, it has two, four, yellow, square, and fire, and it's creating stories to let you know you can't move, you can't be communicated with, and you're surrounded by strangers" it was wild. And what's weirder; two years before I had the haemorrhage, I dreamt it. I recognised the ICU scene by sound, alone, in my coma. I definitely want to be part of a dream study.
This why I love social media. I'm able to listen to a conversation on a topic that I'm interested in. It's as if I'm sitting in the same room engaged in a conversation.

For me lucid dreaming doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a peacefulness beyond the waking life. You travel to far away places and you know you’re dreaming and flying to all kinds of places. They’re very vivid, colorful, and yet when I wake up I was energized, motivated, and felt as like I was given a gift that was priceless. I’ve never forced a lucid dream and never knew what it was until lately hearing the term. For me they’re very rare but when I get them it’s a force to be acknowledged. As the day or week or month goes on bits and pieces comes to light in your inner soul that explains parts of it but not all of it. Leaves some mystery for your soul to wonder about.
That’s so interesting. My lucid dreams turn into night terrors and leave me scared of falling asleep again. Ive had my therapist tell me my dreams were disturbing. I wish my lucid dreaming was fun😭😭😭
I'm so happy that a neurosurgeon is FINALLY talking about dreams and premonitions explaining this with science as in the past, science was too quick to dismiss dreams as fodder which is offensive to those of us who predict so many things via our dreams
Same with survivors of NDEs. Fodder. It’s offensive. But science is changing. Check out Rethinking Death on here. A doc about a new and funded research arm at a major teaching hospital.
Yes! I have extremely vivid dreams where I wake up from a deep sleep with ideas... I also have dreams that are premonitions. Throughout my whole life, I dream of circumstances, conversations and even major life events. I'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves rather than being swept under the rug.
I’ve had so many lucid dreams. They’re amazing and I remember them vividly. I can also return to them. My favourite is flying because I know I can because it’s not real. Absolutely incredible feeling. I loved listening to this podcast. Super interesting.
Why would you think that flying and a lucid dream is not as real or part of you just because you’re “aware” and living in the 3rd dimensional physical why isn’t your lucid part not valid as “real” lol. Isn’t it only what you’re so lucky to experience and remember, most people don’t.
I have 4 types of dreams, one instills fear then anger, one disgusts me, one Im an invisable observer especially with my loved ones and one I run through the forest on all fours its powerful and exciting. Occasionally, I have a dream where I get shot in the chest and one where I can't talk, I know what I want to say, but my mouth doesn't move.
I’ve watched this twice now, I’m just so impressed as a healthcare provider that this neurosurgeon was able to speak so that a general audience could understand. Excellent interview 🥰
I stopped smoking Marijuana after years and years of daily use and I can tell you my dreams have become insanely vivid and noticeable. Even after waking up I go back into the same dream I was having. It's like my mind is jumping dimensions...
im glad i smh never had that problem except for a 2-3year period but had other issues at that time so idk if it rly was due to smooking weed, but since a few yrs im dreaming a lot again and allmost every day i can remember em pretty well the 1st minute after waking up
I had a brain aneurysm 2014 and after the first year of recovery for about 3-4 years I had the same nightmare almost every night! To the point where I was a little scared to go to sleep because I knew what was coming. The dream: It always started great, beautiful day surrounded by family, friends etc. usually doing something eventful, a party or something. Then the sky would go dark and someone in the dream would always turn into an dark figure, old skin, sometimes with a face sometimes not… chasing me until eventually I awake, sweating and heart racing. It wasn’t until I brought this up to my partner years after and we both kind of came to the conclusion or meaning of the nightmare. It was as if I was running away from death or at least trying to. After this revelation, I have not had that nightmare once. Life changing experience. This podcast was incredible Jay! Thank you for having Rahul on. Love ❤️
For years as a chiId I had a recurring dream that I could fly. I would fly over the houses in my neighborhood and my school, and it was so realistic; and the dream was exactly the feeling and visualization you would actually have if you coukd fly. It almost felt like i was a camera on a drone looking down on everything. I always dreamed of flying at night. It felt so real.
I was told by an avid follower of Carl Jung that when waking from a dream, first notice the feeling the dream expressed and then ask yourself if that’s a feeling your aren’t allowing yourself to experience in your conscious life. The purpose of our dreams is to keep us mentally balanced. Basically to keep us sane.
Another way to use your dreams is to ask a question just before going to sleep and your subconscious will work on it while you are sleeping. This has worked for me several times. Once I forgot where I hid some jewelry. It took a few nights but on a Sunday morning I woke up and like a zombie walked to the place where I had hidden them. Or if you are indecisive about something ask for help consistently. You will be guided.
That scares me. I don't dresm often but was told by my ec that I scream and cry in my sleep. I'm always in distress and I never remember what I dream.😮
It makes sense to me. Afraid, feeling fear, accepting that it is part of life and that we have to face it, go after the things we want even if it is scary. My dream tonight was about a man shooting everybody in a room and I was the next one dying... It was scary, i tried to escape, to run away, the man came after me... I am avoiding taking some steps in my life for fear, fear, lots of fear...
I fully believe that our dreams is another way to see our life in another dimension. whenever you close your eyes to dream, you view your life from a different life, like a alternate universe. This is why all dreams are different, but always have the same people in your life - dealing with different situations. Honestly this is the only thing that makes sense to me.
While I like your thought process, you said it's the only thing that makes sense to you. Everything that you don't know, doesn't make sense to you because you haven't learned or experienced it. Foreign languages make no sense to you, but you know it's a form of communication using words. You get what I'm trying to say?
@@wegohamm7yes, the way she interpreted her dreams are not the same as yours. That’s the point. No one is right or wrong. Because no persons brain is the same. We are the motherboard of our brain and bodies, we can have guidance, but no one is wrong is how they understand themselves
he and his books have been my favourite for years now for the same reasons. he is so well spoken and approachable it is fascinating listening to him because he just radiates genuine passion about what he does and studies. i am really happy he is starting to get more recognition because he is definitely one of the people out there that deserve it the most.
I just found you guys. Ive been writing my dreams for 14 years in journals, but remember dreams from when I was a child. Some lucid, some obe, other lifetimes, other planets, I'm really happy I found you guys - this ought to be interesting. I'm 59 now.
I just love the way he honestly says "I can't answer that", "my opinion is" and how we need more data to get to greater insights... People sometimes don't understand that this is exactly how science is made... There's a long journey before we find clear evidence, but this is how it starts! Excellent interview! 🩷
Exactly, he fully researched this and still can’t say anything for sure 100%. People always want clear answers, and pissed when someone can’t give that. Think for yourself and find your own understanding and stop waiting to be told what to think and believe.
I have a biology and psychology degree. And so I have quite a filter regarding for who I will watch on RUclips. You know someone is more legit when they push back and won't proclaim answers without substantial research. I appreciate his hesitancy. To be honest, I think symbolism is likely to vary depending on a person's own background and culture. So not wanting to give a single answer is a good answer.
My own experience with dreams is that they are occasionally prophetic and usually capture subtle layers of my waking life. Themes that repeat are usually me working out issues. The freedom from judgements and restrictions that my conscious self would impose on my dreams makes them healing and means i usually wake up rebalanced. In modern life we don't think about it so much, but there are plenty of things we don't understand. What does consciousness arise out of? Whatever it is - whatever it is it seems like many creatures (other animals besides humans dream too) return each night to that generative pool. Glad we are starting to pay more attention to an activity that we
5"00 "In certain diseases dreams come to the rescue." Yes, when I had cancer one dream was of a positive loop device which lit up when good news was played from or recorded into it. In another dream a healthy fattened cow told me to get well. I felt such intense love from the cow and hugged it. Both dreams gave me the message that love and positivity will help me heal.
In the beginning of May I dreamt 3 times in 14 days that my husband died. On May 29 my husband unexpectedly passed away while out of state on a month long work trip. He was 55 years old. I’m devastated. I’ve had dreams predicting things of this nature since childhood.
I’m so sorry for your great loss. I have a similar kind of knowing prior to death and understand the difficulties in reconciling the deep pain and questioning that comes along with such premonitions. Due to the aftermath of many experiences, I am steadfast in the belief that it’s a new beginning as much as an end. Love remains. I recently lost 3 loved ones in the span of a year’s time. They are undoubtedly “living” elsewhere and have each communicated with me to show they are very much still around. It’s just different. Hugs and healing to you as you navigate thru. ❤
I am very sorry for your loss... ❤ My husband has similar ways, he dreamt that his little brother was going to die and unfortunately it happened. He also had visions and heard an audible voice of signs as well. He lives with major regret because he didn't warn his brother... 😢 I have been on a mission of why this happens.
@@msjamie702 I’m not sure we ever get answers why while still here on this plane . I feel my dead people around me so often , encouraging me, sending me messages of love. My husband has come to me several times and it has given me so much peace and comfort. But still , grief is a powerful feeling.. and I miss him so terribly.
Whenever i set the intention before bed to lucid dream, i imagine I'm in a dream and I use the mantra "i am dreaming" over and over. I almost always lucid dream and the more i do it the easier it gets. You can quite literally lucid dream if you just set the intention before bed. I have met with my dad in my dreams to fly together. We both set the intention before bed and though our dreams were quite different, we both met with eachother and flew.
My ex boyfriend was murdered in 2012 and it was the hardest thing in my life I had to go through. I used to dream of him kind of often and in those dreams, I would always be the only one who wasn’t aware that he was still alive. I was confused to why people were acting like it was totally normal. Recently, when he came to visit me in my dreams, it wasn’t like that anymore and it was just happiness. I’d love any come back about my dreams.
How many lucid dreamers are watching!? I've been a lucid dreamer my whole life, and can recall vivid dreams as early as 3 almost 4 years old. In my personal experience I've regularly dealt with sleep paralysis accompanied with my dreams and as a teenager I often carried fragments of my dreams into waking consciousness like a blur between realities. I still deal with sleep paralysis but I'm able to will myself free easier and faster by shifting my head until my body wakes up. My head feels significantly heavier than usual while I'm doing this but all it takes is a firm will! As they say mind over matter. Occasionally I go through what I call "Slip-Wakings". I'm entering the sleep state and the dreaming begins to take shape, my body can sense the paralytic state taking effect and so my waking mind flares back as I'm trying to wake myself up in panic. I belive my almost automatic panicked reaction is the result of years having lucid nightmares accompanied with paralysis. During one of these episodes I had last year, at the moment when body paralysis and clear consciousness collide, instead of indulging panic and the desperate desire to wake my body back up, I decided to feel the stillness and wholeness of my body. I had the clear desire to experience flight, as I've never flown in my dreams. After connecting to my body, I started to imagine my arms flapping, and no fucking joke, the very thought sent an electrifying sensation throughout my entire body as if it had been lit up. For those of you who understand the feeling of frisson when listening to music or poetry, it was similar to that but completely magnified on a whole other level, it was electrifying and I flew as a great heron over crystal clear waters that reflected the sky like the salt flats of Brazil after spring showers. It was magical, and unlike anything I've experienced in dreams as otherworldly and complex as they are. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Hi, my sister has the same sleep paralysis. This happens when she drinks an excessive amount of tea. She awakens, eyes are open, hears what is happening around her, is unable to communicate or move. Stopped drinking tea, and this condition stopped. At home she would call it her tea dreams. Maybe it's caffeine related? Hope this is helpful ❤.
I’m definitely a lucid dreamer and have been as long as I can remember. I have held on to a few aspect dreams that repeats in a similar form and feel. I also experience sleep paralysis yet it’s not as intense as it was when I was a child. I even have a weird sensation in my dreaming state of sinking into the bed when I drink red wine that is so frightening that I have to wake myself up constantly in fear of sinking to my death. Another interesting thing I experience when I dream is being able to use a fell safe when in danger of falling or drowning I just tell myself that I can breathe underwater in at a depth where there is still sunlight yet I’m not trying to reach the surface or the dark depths. It’s crazy how much of my dreams are recalled. I even intentionally recall word for word conversations details and sequences of events. My dreams slip into different dreams yet I can trace the dream as it changes so it’s like a long dream with different chapters.
This is a great discussion. The Senoi dream culture is one to study. I solved complex math problems in my sleep when I could not accomplish the solution in wakefulness. I'm lousy at math. An image came to me in my dream-boardroom that made the solution clear. I saw a series of floating spreadsheets, one on top of another, that made sense. Meeting that challenge was a benchmark in my early career.
I've twice had the experience of taking action in a dream and it had a healing effect on my waking life. Tonight I will do as the doctor suggested and journal that the pain I've been having will start healing during the night.
I had a recurring dream as a child about sick and dying babies. Mostly me having twins where one is ok, and the other is dead. I started my career as an RN in neurosurgery but was rerouted to NICU after an injury. Many times I experienced scenarios I dreamt about as a young child. Nice to look at the physical brain and what is happening in real time. A lot of dream studies about energy from previous life. Also fascinating ❤.
My dreams have been incredible. I dream and wake up, try to write down whatever I can; go back to sleep and pick up right where I left off. Also for about one year I have seen a lot of written words. For example I saw the word Zenith, plainly written. Interesting word!! Also I have 2 dreams that I remember from when I was a kid. I am 65 years young.
This entire conversation was absolutely wonderful! I am in awe of dr. Rahul’s fine etiquette elucidation of dreams as a doctor and how he explains it scientifically and philosophically. Not to mention his humbling way of interacting with Jay. Other drs. Or professionals tend to speak with a certain finesse sense of ego and I can normally catch it with their body language mainly. dr. Rahul it’s so common and relaxed when speaking that I’m actually drawn to this conversation with such fascination. Normally, I get bored and tired of hearing about these things are fascination to me seeing as I am a stroke and an emergency brain surgery survivor. So obviously the brain really fascinates me, especially with because I still remember the dream that I had while I was medically induced in a coma.. or at least I think it was during the coma or perhaps the surgery if we can still dream during that… would love to ask him that question. But overall, I thank you for making this video and sharing it with us, I would have loved to have heard more about the predictions and premonitions of them after dreaming. There was one I am specifically interested in learning and understanding.
Both of these men have such amazing openness to life and learning, and helping others. It breaks my soul to see how confused many men are about masculinity & perpetrating damaging thoughts & behaviors on typical social media sites. Thank you for having these refreshing conversations and inviting us in. ❤🙏
I haven’t had/remembered dreams in years (at least 5+ years) but today woke up from the most vivid dream I’ve ever had. It was so vivid, for the first time I was inclined to write it down. It made me feel oddly energized
I fell asleep to this video and dreamed vividly about my ex gf who betrayed me last year. I still can't get over it. In the dream, she extended her smear campaign to social media, and I was devastated. I just woke up at 3am and am trying to digest the emotions I just felt.
Forgive and forget, even if you male your peace in your dream it will help. If you have a similar dream, use it to get everything off your chest and then find forgiveness.
I've been recording and interpreting my dreams most of my life, and I have been interpreting them for others for about 20 years. It's nice to see so much of what I have gathered through my experience being reflected and in cases backed by the research mentioned here. Thank you for this episode.
I’m a retired therapist and I always inquired about my patient’s dreams and I can’t tell you how many time they reflected the solution to their problems. If only we listen!
Man, he’s absolutely right. Dreams are influential and influenced. Watching this a few days ago, I thought to myself, I’m gonna start dreaming again just cause I watched this. And since then I’ve had I think three dreams two of them were very, very busy dreams.
First of all, Dr. Rahul Jandial’s voice is superb. Reminds me of Hugh Jackman’s. And he can even be on Broadway. Not diminishing all his other accomplishments here. Thank you for this conversation.
I ended up writing a book from a recurring dream I had when the life I had known up until that point had abruptly ended. Fast forward 12 years later, the novel is being turned into a movie and is being received beyond anything I could imagine.
Thank you thank you! I always had problems with sleeping due to my intense dreaming and always knew that during sleep my brain is not resting lol! It feels good to finally have that confirmed.
This was needed and so good! As a person of Christian beliefs who dreams a lot, I needed the scientific background about the brain coupled with my religious studies. ❤
I once was tired with my life I wanted to live my youth again to rewrite time. I had once lucid dream where I can turn back time and live my life when I were in college. It was so good it felt real.
Lucid dreaming can happen, I've done it. I was having a dream where i was in school and the teacher announced a math test. I was looking around and freaking out because i hadn't studied. Then i wondered why i hadn't studied. And then i remembered that i graduated college and have a job and I'm not in school anymore. Once i realized i was dreaming, i decided to change the dream. I went to a carnival with MacGyver. We had a great time!
Encouraging the best dreams to live up to, keep up growing habits & the leadership in everything. Best way to finish my day today by being here listening to this episode on the podcast. Keep up the great work Jay
When my mind is clear, I can fall back into the same dream. This help me understand this reality can be mindful and I’m not crazy to believe in this happening
This episode (as lots of others) is masterclass. I wanted to share something on reconciliation dreams, I've had this dream two or three times (involving the same person on the other hand) and I really felt peace in my hart. This was one of the purest emotions I've ever felt and I wasn't even awake. The world of dreams is fantastic. Thank you Jay for bringing this episode❤
Dreaming of things that happen in the future I have a lot n this needs more research because having dreams of people that are going to die but you don't know when could you stop it
@@angelageier1574this is correct, in some cases. Deja vu feelings can be a sign or symptom of a partial seizure. I get these, and it happens in a very, very intense way both mentally and physically.. it’s hard to describe. But I’m positive it’s a seizure, usually induced by highly emotional situations in my life (thankfully, it doesn’t happen very often!). My doc did say it would be hard to catch with testing as it’s hard to know when it’ll happen next. But you’re correct, it can be seizures. Not all cases of Deja vu is though.
I have, on several occasions, not only wake up and slip back in where I left off, but even continued a dream up to 3 nights in a row…….that was mind blowing to me……so very cool!!
i dream every night and remember mostly all my dreams. i dream of things that happen in the future . I call it a gift. I dream of things that cant be explained but actually happen eventually in present or future time, i write and study my dreams.
I dreamt of first sons death IN DETAIL before I even knew i was pregnant! I knew what he was going to look like! Unfortunately I also dreamt of when he was going to pass. He went to heaven in my arms when he was four days old, due to a genetic disorder. I can't wait to be reunited with him some day ❤
I would take 50% of this as I have found long ago that he tends to take his information from those who have done the groundwork to establishing information and facts. He takes it, puts his own spin on it and puts it back out there.
The idea that our dreaming brain could be predicting future health issues is mind-blowing! If we could detect diseases early through dreams, should this change our approach to medical screenings and healthcare?
Dreams have helped me a lot in life, especially giving me forewarnings of impending events. It's actually saved my life at least once. I don't think this makes me psychic, more that at times, I'm connected with perceptions that my conscious mind has excluded, in error.
Totally when I had a huge brake up I remember going to a carnival with the ex walking through the maze of experience and when we got to the end I woke up and was super relieved and peaceful. I worked out my bad brake up through dealing with it through my dream…I love dreaming!❤
I have a strange relationship with dreams. I remember a dream i had as a toddler. Clear as day. Since then I have cultivated a whole dream world that i visit most nights. multiple places, and reoccurring dreams, not where the same things happen, only the settings are the same. Renditions of hospitals, my old houses, old schools, airports, mansions, malls, architectural masterpieces that are impossible to describe. I remember most of my dreams even though i don't sleep more than 4 hours most nights. coincidentally, i have journaled about every day since 1st grade but in my late 20s now when i wake up i usually try to recall my dreams first thing in the morning. I am a filmmaker, my dreamworld is very helpful as you could imagine. I've dreamt of short films. full plots and characters, costumes and everything. I think my dreams and mind have alot to do with my "purpose" I find this conversation very interesting. As a kid and even now, i get sleep paralysis often and i've learned to control it. if i don't wake my body up and just relax, ive discovered i can kind of kick off my dreams the way i want to since im still conscious. I've lucid dreamed multiple times and only one time after trying so many times did i feel like i may have successfully astral projected. So the topic of dream entry and dream exit is something im going to look further into.
I have been in a lucid dream and felt my body attempt to physically pull me out of the dream and I would immediately fall back into the dream. That happened 3 times in one dream. I could still recall attempting to talk also to wake. Sounded mushmouthed. And I ended up crying myself into waking.
Interesting conversation. I got to 1:20 on the video and called it. My intuition distinctly kept showing me something is not 100% with this man being interviewed. Couldn’t ignore what soul knows any longer.
I’ve had reconciliation dreams with relationships that ended badly and also with my parents since they have passed on. Maybe folks just don’t share about them as much. But they feel so wonderful and full of love. 💕
My dreams feel as real as if I was awake. Except for the confusion of being at many places at any given time. I can feel, smell, touch, and even my conversations in a dream are pretty straightforward. Just 2 nights ago I had a conversation in my dream with my ex's sister. Even telling her in my dream that I dreamt we had this conversation. When I woke up, I was confused about what really happened. Then I snapped out of it, realizing it was a dream. I have also dreamt about my loved ones who have passed on another world in the universe. Days later I see similar planets that have just been discovered on RUclips with stunning detail to my dream. It's weird feeling to wake up from a dream, to think it was real life. Welllll, what is real life?
Only 9 min into the video and i love the animated discussion. I love dreaming is like HIIT training for the brain. Looking forward to absorbing the material in this interview ❤
I’ve always been fascinated with dreams so much so that I wanted to have a dream expert do a study on me. I noticed that I get the most vivid/intense and emotional dreams when I fall asleep on my back. I’ve always wondered if the sleep position has an effect on your dreams??
I usually get creative at the sleep entry/sleep exit zone, for years I’ve been wondering why but thankfully I watched this video, my final conclusion is that these are zones where the rational and creative parts of our brains meet and intertwine with subtle control on our behalf.
After divorce, I didn’t have someone to wake me from nightmares. When my first nightmare came , as I was alone, I said, I’m only dreaming I don’t have to do this. Then my dream changed in an instant. I haven’t had that caliber of nightmare since then.
After watching Cinderella as a child, i developed a fear that if I had a dream 3x it would come true. I had this reoccuring dream that the jolly green giant from the green bean can would come and step on my home. That made me convinced it would happen 😂.
I don't normally remember dreaming. But the rare dreams i recall were very important in advising and informing me of what I'd never have realized in waking hours.
Just before falling to sleep you can ask to dream about something specific. I once asked to dream that I was in the casino and see the next winning bet and the betting amount on the roulette wheel. That night I had the following dream. I was in a casino at a roulette table and i had a bet of 10$ on the line between 17 and 18. When I woke up I remembered the dream and was pretty excited. That night I went to the local casino. I bought 10$ of chips and placed the bet and left the table for the restroom. When I got back, I had won 175$. Litterally making money in my sleep. Predicting the future too. Your welcome.
@@BoominGameu r totally right about shit👌 shit = $ I also want to add : Some dreams come true when we can see the future as it is, but other dreams may hold different meanings.
I believe me and my daughter are connected telepathically so sometimes I can try to communicate her while we are sleeping and dreaming and sometimes she lets my thoughts crossover to her but sometimes she shuts them down by verbally saying out loud “no mommy” she’s 3 and I’m 25
I had this with my mom and it has transcended death. Such a gift! Among so many other things, she recently helped guide me to pinpoint an allergy my young daughter has.
So I had a shared dream with another person. We both had the same dream from our own individual perspective and dreamt it at different times in our lives. Has anyone else discovered this has happened to themselves?????
Really enjoy this talk. Just got the audiobook. 🎉 I have premonition dreams once in a while. Usually to protect me from a negative event. I can recognize it when is happening so I get out of the scenario to a space i can be alone to remember everything and prevent as much as I can the "disaster". Alcohol and sugar reduce my ability to remember my dreams.
Great topic, my feeling is he remains on a superficial level. If you read C G Jung you feel how dreams express deep cultural wisdom and archetypical knowledge across all cultures, regardless of them having been in contact. Freud examined how dreams manage to circumvent the censorship of the mind in a funny way and provided lots of examples. Fascinating topic.
I’m glad you talked about Parkinson’s. I’ve had patients tell me they have a history of vivid and wild dreams. Then in advanced Parkinson’s I’ve witnessed some people have night terrors.
Dr. Estes (Women who run with the wolves book and others) has shared all this long ago about dreams. She is a Jungian psychoanalyst and storyteller/healer. If you have not read her book, it would be helpful to you on many levels.
1:07:36 I’m a unicorn 🦄 and I have dreamt the Massachusetts daily numbers on the MBTA heading to Boston. I fell asleep and woke up before my stop and saw the numbers clearly in red. I played it that day and won! This was only the beginning of my dreaming life. That was back in 1997! I’m a MASTER lucid dreamer now.
Fascinating discussion, thank you both. I too have experienced lucid dreaming, not all the time, but every now and then. I dream a lot, sometimes remembering many details and other times, the dream is lost minutes after awakening. Emotional dreams seem to stay with me longer.
I've been retired from working in surgery for 10 years but I still have dreams of being trapped in a hospital with an angry surgeon needing something from me while the patient bleeds out. In 2004 I survived an extreme house fire and my friend died and I had to see his face melted and after that working in the medical field was too stressful for me and though the dreams of fire have stopped now the dreams of not being able to finish or help the doctor in need resides. PTSD sucks.
I’m interested in the “landscape” of my dreams. Listening to this, I was recalling some vivid dreams from my past. I can still recall what I was doing, and who was with me (often complete strangers), but …and oddly enough, minute details such as furniture color, shape, and configuration …and architectural details! Also outdoor scenes which include the placement of trees, shrubs, and rock formations. …thank you, this was a fascinating topic!

Nearly two hundred people were injured and many were killed in the attack. At this time we need you very much because the journalists of our country are on the side of the government. They have no news on this issue. They have not promoting about on this issue. Seeking freedom has now become a crime for us.

Ive had a few lucid dreams and they are indeed incredible! They are very rare though as you've said. You explained it very well!
That’s so interesting. My lucid dreams turn into night terrors and leave me scared of falling asleep again. Ive had my therapist tell me my dreams were disturbing. I wish my lucid dreaming was fun😭😭😭
So well written
I notice the more stressed or more busy, the less I dream or less I remember. If I’m in a carefree point in my life, I dream more.
I notice the more stressed I am, the more nightmares I have.
I'm so happy that a neurosurgeon is FINALLY talking about dreams and premonitions explaining this with science as in the past, science was too quick to dismiss dreams as fodder which is offensive to those of us who predict so many things via our dreams
👏👏👏
Check out Eben Alexander
Same with survivors of NDEs. Fodder. It’s offensive. But science is changing. Check out Rethinking Death on here. A doc about a new and funded research arm at a major teaching hospital.
It's because he has Indian roots. If he was a white surgeon, he would have been totally dismissive 90 percent of the time.
I also have lucid dreams frequently. flying is one of the best ones.
Riding a motorcycle or a horse, It’s pretty cool too.
@@alozara13 HUH?? what are you saying lmao.... he just said he loves the flying part cause he knows we cant fly irl, how was that hard to understand?
I’ve watched this twice now, I’m just so impressed as a healthcare provider that this neurosurgeon was able to speak so that a general audience could understand. Excellent interview 🥰
I stopped smoking Marijuana after years and years of daily use and I can tell you my dreams have become insanely vivid and noticeable. Even after waking up I go back into the same dream I was having. It's like my mind is jumping dimensions...
It's tiring.
I never rest. You must always feel the same.
Same thing is happening to me. It’s been 5 months since I stopped smoking and the dreams never cease to be intense still.
im glad i smh never had that problem except for a 2-3year period but had other issues at that time so idk if it rly was due to smooking weed, but since a few yrs im dreaming a lot again and allmost every day i can remember em pretty well the 1st minute after waking up
I’ve noticed that too I started smoking again and my dreams are so foggy
May be… dreams are a conduite to other realms.
Yes! I find that the initial feeling or thought u get right after waking from a dream is probably the most accurate.
Honestly this is the only thing that makes sense to me.
love this thank youuu very much agreed🤍🙌🏽
this is exactly what i think and people think im crazy. anything’s possible!!
Shhhh!!!! … you’re not wrong. Keep dreaming as you’re being a witness to your other self. May the universe keep you connected.

I just love the way he honestly says "I can't answer that", "my opinion is" and how we need more data to get to greater insights... People sometimes don't understand that this is exactly how science is made... There's a long journey before we find clear evidence, but this is how it starts! Excellent interview! 🩷
😊w
Exactly, he fully researched this and still can’t say anything for sure 100%. People always want clear answers, and pissed when someone can’t give that. Think for yourself and find your own understanding and stop waiting to be told what to think and believe.
Well said! Totally agree

@@msjamie702 I’m not sure we ever get answers why while still here on this plane . I feel my dead people around me so often , encouraging me, sending me messages of love.

I've been controlling my dreams since I was a youngling. Im excited for dreams to have more substantial research.
Welcome. You’re not alone
No, but congratulations on making an amazing choice and directing your dream. I think you are healing at a deep level.
Yes this happens to me as well!
I had nightmares coming out of the Navy but learned to control them pretty quickly. I rarely remember dreams anymore.
I've dreamt songs, woken up and written them with the music.. it's happened 3 times
My God, this man is so intelligent... both of them. This was wonderful
I think this really debunks a lot of the extra meanings I try to add to my dreams. It’s just desire !

Is there anyone else that when you are dreaming you wake up and then go back to sleep and continue the dream.

I have been in a lucid dream and felt my body attempt to physically pull me out of the dream and I would immediately fall back into the dream. That happened 3 times in one dream. I could still recall attempting to talk also to wake. Sounded mushmouthed. And I ended up crying myself into waking.
What would that be indicative of?
Interesting conversation. I got to 1:20 on the video and called it. My intuition distinctly kept showing me something is not 100% with this man being interviewed. Couldn’t ignore what soul knows any longer.
I’ve had reconciliation dreams with relationships that ended badly and also with my parents since they have passed on. Maybe folks just don’t share about them as much. But they feel so wonderful and full of love. 💕
Carl Jung did extensive work with the psyche of dreams and had deep meaning and symbolism for the person in their lives
Ah yes a fellow man of culture
I do my best problem solving when I'm sleeping. There is less distraction, and I can think more clearly. I wake up and know exactly what I need to do.
Did you ever had subtitles to your dream but you cant read them because your eyes are closed?
Only 9 min into the video and i love the animated discussion. I love dreaming is like HIIT training for the brain. Looking forward to absorbing the material in this interview ❤
I’ve always been fascinated with dreams so much so that I wanted to have a dream expert do a study on me. I noticed that I get the most vivid/intense and emotional dreams when I fall asleep on my back. I’ve always wondered if the sleep position has an effect on your dreams??
I often have nightmares when sleeping on my back- so strange.
What an interesting thought to ponder!
Me too
I usually get creative at the sleep entry/sleep exit zone, for years I’ve been wondering why but thankfully I watched this video, my final conclusion is that these are zones where the rational and creative parts of our brains meet and intertwine with subtle control on our behalf.
Profound insights. Thank you for this interview!
Listening to this in my sleep to prepare myself for my neuroscience exam tmrw ❤️
Roald Dahl used to fall asleep in his chair with a book on his lap to get ideas for his books.
I do that too
After divorce, I didn’t have someone to wake me from nightmares.
Dreaming that you earning money means something sad will happen, apparently if you dream about shit, excrements, it brings money.
@@BoominGame You can go with that, call it forth. It it only brings more shit, well then you've learned something and can change it.
@@BoominGameu r totally right about shit👌 shit = $ I also want to add : Some dreams come true when we can see the future as it is, but other dreams may hold different meanings.
@@LL-eg8uu It's all very mysterious.
I ve had the same recurrent dream for more than twenty years... No clue what it means, i just know its the most enchanting dream i ve ever dreamt
@@beckyg361 what was most special about having this with your mom??
She wasn't my mother, but close, we had a connection, she woke me up in the middle of the night at 3.23 when she died on the other side of the planet.
I had a very clear vivid dream before a Sunami. And when I saw the Sunami on the news, I remembered details of my dream and what I was seeing on tv.
So I had a shared dream with another person. We both had the same dream from our own individual perspective and dreamt it at different times in our lives. Has anyone else discovered this has happened to themselves?????
I had several recurring dreams during my life, I also had some warning dreams that came true few days later. Fascinating thing!
After listening to this man for 17 minutes, I unfortunately cannot get behind what he is saying. His thoughts are a dream.
Really enjoy this talk. Just got the audiobook. 🎉
I have premonition dreams once in a while.
One of my favorites
1:07:36 I’m a unicorn 🦄 and I have dreamt the Massachusetts daily numbers on the MBTA heading to Boston. I fell asleep and woke up before my stop and saw the numbers clearly in red. I played it that day and won! This was only the beginning of my dreaming life. That was back in 1997! I’m a MASTER lucid dreamer now.
How is that related to being unicorn you saw precognition dream
first❤ thank you for another interesting episode!
thank you for watching!
Love your video, Jay Shetty
This guy did an excellent job excluding medical jargon - bravo 🙌
