After trauma prefrontal cortex is not working great but that doesn’t k mean a person cheats! Morals are in another area of the brain I’d say!!! Cheating is something entirely different!
A lot of the depression women deal with isn’t because our brains are just more emotional. It’s because the world is genuinely a much more dangerous place for us, plus there are so many more unrealistic expectations and responsibilities placed on us in this society. When I spent some time living the way we were meant to live, I was not depressed. If I took time to make a list about everything women have to think about from day to day this would be the longest RUclips comment ever.
Young women are very stressed. I had an anxiety disorder throughout my 20s. I think it has a fair bit to do with the lack of respect for feminine aspects of sexuality today.
I don’t know… I think it’s ok to know that men need reminders and more guidance when it comes to emotional maturity issues, but I’m not going to be “gentle” and “loving” when a man keeps forgetting an anniversary or continuing to cross a boundary that is objectively wrong. I also understand that men are not the primary care giver but a man who gets pissed if you ask for help with the kids, is a man who has no empathy or respect for his partner. I’m no doctor, but I say “when someone shows you who they are, believe them.” I’m not taking them for no damn cat scan. LOL
@@sherriflemming3218 Sharp u r . No need to understand men who mismanage their masculinity. This causes a woman to b a slave. Great insight here, thanks.
It's the same old b s- This doctors making a loophole / Just another excuse for the human male To be a dead beat, And not have to take responsibility. For his own negligence. That's why running into a real divine masculine/.A real man- is like crossing paths with a white leopard. As women, we need to let them deal with their own s*** and you deal with yours. And when it gets too full then out the door you go, The better pastures!
I disagree. If a man really values you, he WILL remember what you like. You won't have to remind him 5,000 times like a surrogate mommy. If he takes you for granted, he'll care about his sports or video games more. I've seen the difference personally. Don't settle for men who don't have any softness to them, that's just not a good deal.
Men have a great memory capacity for things that matter and can even be super focused For exemple: They can remember all the players of the football league, the transactions, date and time of the games. If his partner is important he will remember and if he's unfocused, add or something he would use notes and alarms to remember
Yes true, but also that can happen sometimes, it's key to not treat the person like crap over it cause sometimes( i say sometimes cause i mean the people who fr care not people who don't care like you were saying) they really do care and just need a reminder, but I agree on most things should be remembered. Nobody is perfect everyone makes mistakes NOBODY has a perfect memory, and if you destroy a whole relationship just cause the other person forgot your favorite color or preference of something and just need a reminder? That's just toxic. But the rest of what you said is so so true!❤️ I really believe once someone is set in their ways and they are fine with themselves like that then they aren't gonna ever change so theres no point in putting all your effort into someone who isn't willing to put the same in for you❤️
Also! I would like to add that's probably more of a foggy area with things because of some people have more problems with memory than others, short term, long term, from birth, sudden onset, concussions, dementia, and also trauma and ptsd or cptsd. And if you don't know if you or your partner had those sort of problems people might blame the person instead of understanding the underlying problems and working through them together.
@@QueenKaeOfficial oh, nobody is advocating for treating somebody like crap. I would say if your partner forgetting things which are important to you, you can pull back some of your energy, too. A healthy relationship is an equilibrium. He gives less, you give less. Instead you use that extra energy on yourself. It's important to nurture the relationship you have with yourself, too, so that's extra time and energy you take back. Nagging would just not be a good use of personal energy, as that would still be "putting energy in," and running the risk of not getting results.
I am a woman & have adhd... I am still capable of remembering things and people that are important to me. I think most people are, so let them show you if/how much they value you.. then act accordingly.
I'm a woman with ADHD. When I went to school I was allowed to go to my drum lessons instead of math which I hated. I forgot my favourite lessons and went to the lessons that I hated... That was just ONE example! I forgot many things throughout my life that I wanted and looked forward to. I forgot my best friends that meant a lot to me. But they knew me and didn't get offended. No.. ADHD doesn't look the same in everyone and especially in men.
@@Dr.Shreyaroseminz I just love people when they tell you about you when they don't even know you. I can tell a lot about you too like I know you. I can tell you had trauma in your life and you're very judgemental. Just to show you how much you know about me and how my memory works and what I'm passionate about and how much I care. You know absolutely nothing.. as little as I know anything about you. Your judgement on the other hand tells more about you than it actually does about me.
i don’t know if I agree with the always reminding him of everything, if he knows he’s forgetful why can’t he put your anniversary in his calendar? same day every year
I probably won’t do that. That sounds too much like a mom and in no way I would ever make myself a mom to my partner. Either he remembers or he forgets. It shouldn’t be up to me to be his walking calendar. There are plenty of tools out there and he should be able to handle days that are important to him in ways he likes.
I reminded mine 2 months ahead, 1 month ahead, 2 weeks ahead, 3 days, night before, morning of, and he still "forgot". They don't care, they won't remember
It’s just an excuse because they’re very capable of remembering the things that matter to them. Like when a work project is due or when the next game starts and who’s playing vs who etc.
I think men used to be the protectors physically like so we were safe and they hunted they were brave it’s sort of sad they don’t have to do that stuff anymore. But being a provider can make them feel amazing
@@miller5170 Yes, but today they don't do that either. Instead, they feel okay running away from their responsibilities. And there is a lot of 'coddling' going on in our societies when it comes to men which creates both laziness and a sense of entitlement in them.
Thank you for putting into word my thoughts as I was listening to this... Like why is all the work on Women's shoulders? Why after all that brain scanning he doesn't have a solution from the man side... What can men do about it? how can they also show up for us and do the work as well??
I think a big part of it is that feminism isn't really listened to. Women are often expected to still do most of the housework and child rearing AND work jobs. My Mum did this. I don't remember much of my father as a little kid really.
Of course it’s usually hormonal but many doctors misdiagnose and mistreat us. Then when you go to another doctor who treats you, one feels cheated out of life. This happened to me. All I needed was progesterone for my heavy bleeding, but all my doctor prescribed was the birth control pill. Glad I found two doctors who know how to treat me.
Most allopathic physicians are woefully uneducated and unwilling to be in dumb m functional medicine and those that are charge way too much making their care out of reach of the majority of the population that needs it. When dealing with allopathic professionals we have to do our homework first and research their treatments for contraindications in our cases because they aren't likely to. Majority of malpractice and iatrogenic death caused by ignorance and stubbornness on the part of allopathy to get educated.
Feel you. Currently dealing with los ferritin that I have had for 10 years+. Totally avoidable. Had to junp through hoops to get Progesterone as well. I was already Estrogen-dominant when they wanted to give me an Estrogen-Pill „to manage PCOS“, except the next doctor could not find any evidence of it. The system is not well set up and having lived both in Germany and the US, its quite similar. The patient has to be semi knowledgeable and take matters into their own hands. Glad you did that for yourself!
Took me years of medical gaslight mostly by middle age men telling me i was too Young to be sick to FINALLY run some blood test and realised inwas having a thyroid issue
ALSO: mothers hold back on suacide because of the need to protect their children is SO High! At all cost protect kids. So They wont act on it.. even if severely depressed! Should have been Said in the video.
The rate of women attending or trying to off themselves also went Down by 60% when women could finally divorce their husband in like the 70s ....hummm.. go figure
Ever since Adam blamed Eve for his choice to eat the apple And because in every culture on Earth, women do the bulk of child rearing. So if a kid turns out bad, the therapist asks "Tell me about your relationship with your mother". Maybe mom had too many kids. Maybe dad was abusing her. Maybe she worked and daycare raised them. None of that seems to matter. They always blame the mom
@@kpf2014 well he did "eat the apple" and blame Eve. Although I believe the original sin was lust. Because if you look at the language, originally it said the serpent "BEGUILED" Eve. And the meaning of beguiled is a sexual one, meaning she was seduced But he wasn't a serpent until after, as part of his punishment. During the seduction, he was God's smartest and most beautiful angel. And it took decades for him to finally seduce her. Think about a kid who snuck a cookie before dinner. Did you eat a cookie? No, they claim, while covering their mouth, because that's where the evidence of their crime was. But Adam and Eve covered their genitals. Not their mouths
Because of this forgetfulness, and ADHD as in get bored quickly (which often leads to cheating), and the non-interface with one's internal states (emotions), men are SO MUCH WORK, like having another JOB, and so where is the JOY in that? Why would I sign up for this kind of overWORK?
I believe that women are gifted with a cyclic rhythm that asks them to step back and rest or meditate….the constant pushing forward without rest creates distortion and imbalance.
This is very spot on. The older I get the more I realize my body tells me when it wants to be worked and when it needs to just exist and have nothing to do other than paid work. That’s why I only date men who are caretakers and know how to take care of a home, because for at least half the month I will not be able to. But when I’m at my peak energy?? I can do anything. I just wished this is more on the forefront of women’s standards when dating so they don’t burn out in marriages and nag all the time. Also, most men don’t want to get this so they all end up with someone that they can’t tolerate.

I'm a 9 on the ACE scale and I consider it a miracle that I made it this far. Not like you wear it on a shirt for everyone to know. There's so much recovery work involved in getting to normalish. But when the scale came out the difficulties of my life made a lot more sense.
Lisa I love that part (1:16-) where you tell how you posed those questions to the doctor in the neurosurgery, where your mum got her brain surgery. I'm a student nurse besides learning natural medicine, and always get irritated by the same thing. Trying to teach our patients in secrecy to be aware of this and they are grateful for it.
If he is forgetful why can't he put the reminder in his own calendar? My mom expects me to remind my brothers. But I have just as much or more to do than them. I refuse to be their secretary too.
I agree that there are hormonal influences at play but I think there is also some excuse making here. A man doesn’t need to be reminded 10 times about what he needs to complete or the deadlines at his job. At some point there has to be some personal accountability.
We need mental health care reform in the US, there are so many people that don’t have the ability to pay for this kind of help or treatment. The entire world needs this help.
I love this interview so much!! Dr. Amen's research helped me immensely 20 years ago with the decision to medicate my 7 year old son for ADHD. I learned it's NOT a behavioral problem. Now, we've learned so much more about sugar and diet, but at the time my son needed to succeed socially and academicly. Now, as a menopausal 55 year old, looking after my parents in their 80's, this information is AGAIN so helpful to me. Thank you Lisa and Dr. Amen!!!
I feel this is a bit of excusing men for being sh** & again, making us caretakers while they skate by Women work so much harder in life than men. We spend time grooming, cleaning, doing 99% of childcare, making spaces nice & building relationships- plus usually a job too. We also feel overburdened, lacking energy & yet we still pour passion into people. Yet they just roll out of bed & go to a job for some hours.. come back & can barely cope with a conversation, even after having beers with the boys to unwind I thinkkkkk they could do more, and do better. Adapt pls
Most men just really don’t add a lot of value in today’s society because they aren’t expected to. And then they wonder why many women would rather be alone than be in relationships
We (women) can only change ourselves. Once the time comes where we grasp this concept, of not waiting/asking/pleading/arguing/cajoling/threatening/fawning/capitualating, etc. in order for them to change, we can stop *enabling* men. They have to do the internal work on their own. They may, they may not, but habitually stepping in (being codependent, really) is a surefire way to maintain the status quo and waste our lives. We're not their moms. No matter how much the generation that raised us conditioned us to behave like we are....or ought to be. I never had kids because I didn't want to raise children, and I make no exception when it comes to men.
We need more women in AI. And chatGPT doesn’t represent all of AI, but was glad to see they put women on the revised board after removing any diversity during their drama
If these conclusions are based on scans done at an Amen clinic, wouldn't they be done on people who are there because they are already having trouble in their life that led them there? That would mean these observations are skewed and not a random crosssection of the population.
That's correct. Unless of course he paid people to be in a 'control group' or they volunteered themselves. I don't know if his findings include the results from a 'control group'
I also notice he's not considering how much more women have to deal with in this society.. Like Horrific internal and external body image, Her safety, How she has to do almost everything in the family unit..... ect..

I had an active life eating clean and was hospitalized 7 days longer than expected for 3 major abdominal surgeries I had all at once due to an accident. I had to go to an inpatient rehabilitation facility (nursing home) for 2 months afterward. I'm glad you brought up certain foods as being inflammatory. I gained 25 lbs while there post-op and had no choice of what I could eat once I left the hospital and went there. I am still battling the documented nutrition deficiencies and the weight I put on there. Everyone complained of the food. It was mostly highly processed simple carbohydrates and very little protein or fresh foods and this was considered one of the better rehab/ nursing home facilities. So many patients were suffering from inflammation related and dietary related issues there. If they were lucky, they got to see the nursing home's doctor and were issued a highly processed protein supplement. One of the staff members actually told me to get out of there if I wanted to live. I was in a wheelchair, came home to home care, and now I'm walking again and in outpatient physical therapy on my way to getting my health and life back after a bad car accident. I wish someone would address such facilities but when you're in your 40s and have been inpatient, you realize they aren't in the business of keeping people alive and thriving. Your podcast is helping me so much! Thank you.
Thank you for acknowledging that female hormones start changing in our 30s. I’m so tired of people claiming that 41 is early for peri-menopausal symptoms. 🙄
I hate how he calls it 'worry' - our language hasn't invented a word to explain the emotional thinking/strategizing/planning that happens simultaneously for women because we care about future outcomes. The combination of this will of course trigger anxiety but we continue because we want to do the 'right path' over and above. It's not worry. It's intelligence.
@@angelwings7930 I respectfully disagree. I do believe women tend to be more caring towards their partner and hence observant. If a man pays attention, though, he can encompass all factors in the interest of problem solving. Women's focus tends to be on keeping people happy, oftentimes with imperfect short-term fixes, whereas men often focus on more permanent solutions, arrived at from a more rational angle. Depends on the individual, of course.
Very early into the video, my first question becomes: Are these brain differences by nature, or are they designed by socialisation? Are we training our children to behave and function in these ways due to societal expectations and demands we place on them based on gender? Can we improve the outcomes of all genders by changing how we raise kids?

His wording is so strongly coded and skewed towards men who feel they should be in control of women and “their emotions”. The truth is that men are the emotional ones and women have to constantly calm them down and deal with their incompetence.

NAILED IT & NOW I have peri menopause & a serious low level of iron that I'm having to get infusions due to such a crazy HEAVY cycle...I'm an emotional dumpster on FIRE 😂 and a critical care hospice nurse trying SO HARD to be extra empathetic at work while I'm dying inside! I play it off pretty well, but if I didn't, I'd be in bed crying on a daily! It takes so much energy to NOT FALL APART because I simply do not have the time to fall apart. I agree. PMDD along with another major health issue stole two decades of my life from me (20s & 30s). Doctors said they didn't want to tinker around with hormone levels unless it was really bad. I WAS the worst case scenario, but no one would help me!

EMDR is amazing! I had a chaotic childhood too and this therapy really helped me massively, I found a great partner at 42 after always being in unsatisfactory relationships (understatement!)
Not every human and woman has the same character, which includes the empathy, iq, morals, spine. Knowing they own the physical strength is the only reason why men in general almost always don’t care or aren’t bothered about what others think of him.

Neuroplasticity begs to differ. It’s only natural that after hundreds of years in which boys to men have been conditioned to prioritize themselves and their careers over their intimate relationships that the scans would produce such results.
I was literally thinking the same. Can she please bring Dr Tara on here. Coz this nonsense of but that's how they are and we must understand is rubbish
I really like that Dr Amen looks for the best in people, optimistic, knows the science etc. But my opinion, he can come across as an apologist for dysfunctional harmful people. Most of what he talks about here puts the burden on women to accommodate men's difficulties, but not visa versa...
I don't feel like I accommodate my husband. I am his helpmeet. My husband does wayyy more for me than I could ever do for him. Loving him is the easy part compared to all he does
I just love Dr Daniel Amen, he is so incredibly brilliant. I was given one of his first books probably over 25 yrs ago and it has changed my life. An incredible person who more people should follow and understand!! ❤❤. Loved your interview with him, Lisa!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I would love to know if Dr. Amen has studied the brains of women who use the pill and those who do not and if there is a difference. Very interesting, thanks.
Neuroplasticity suggests that we can change our brains based on the activities we engage in, such as the famous example of London taxi drivers. But how much of the difference between male and female brains is acquired and trained, and how much is inherent? For example, the idea that men are less emotional might stem from societal expectations, like being told from childhood that "big boys don't cry." On the other hand, women may worry more because, historically, society has limited their power and control, when you feel that you cannot do anything, you worry more.
Give the man credit. Hes explaining the facts, the different parts of the brains represent for both men & women .. i find him quite clear and objective
This is the best video you have shared yet. I need to find out who this man is, and follow all his social media. This changed my perception to my own response. I am not getting a period at 45 but I am still getting hell week one week out of the month. Like How?? Mind blown! Thank you for sharing.
Men have their fluctuasions either: TESTOSTERON. According to their age, 1-3 days after sex they cannot stand to see any woman, hear or interact. They tend to run from women and hide in a secret cave.
Women are more intelligent. Society hasn't/doesn't want us to know this. Of course we're more stressed, think about it parents worry more than their children do.
Depends the type of intelligence your talking about. Do you know how to rewire your circuit breaker box in the basement? Or configure electrical wiring to install a new light fixture? Or pop the hood of your car and be able to to know what’s going on with all those mechanical parts to configure why you’re car is acting the way that it is? There’s a reason this is a male dominant field. Men’s brains are naturally wired better for more logistics.
@@Diarrheagodimplying that installing a new hardwired electrical fixture is hard…one doesn’t need to be intelligent to be able to understand wire colors, or how to climb a ladder.
@@Diarrheagod pfff, that's not about genitals... It's about WHAT you decide to learn. I'm girl and I'm programmer - doesn't have to do anything with gender. And I learned LITERALLY ON THE GO woodwork (not everything, only things that I needed: how to fix furniture, how to assemble the furniture, cut, polish and varnish wood). If needed I can learn even this, just don't see the need. If you said about something that requires great physical strength - this would have more sense, but it's been long proven that women don't lack cognitive abilities. P.S. It's my 3rd language, and I'm learning 2 more (languages ARE difficult for me, but I still manage), so cognetive abilities are more about individual than gender!
It has to be realized, and noted here is..... They have both been indoctrinated and infected by patriarchal regime- "and did not have the females best interest in mind"- What should be obvious to everybody by now. That has had control over people for over five thousand years now. And has absolutely nothing to do with biology, or how Our creator made us to be.

Wow ….let’s continue medicalising the cyclical nature of women’s bodies. Understanding our cycles and cycle hacking is one thing. Honestly, if your partner is putting you on hormones to turn you into a more compliant version, I would be asking questions. Where was the pushback on this? How many men would have their hormones tampered with to make them into better husbands? Why do we as women spend so much time seeking to understand our partners so we can meet them where they are?
I'm just curious as to why this channel has gradually changed into one focusing on men and love and romance. When it started it was of women achieveing great things; breaking barriers; inventing things; launching and running successful businesses. Now it's super focused on romance, when women have much much much brighter and varied lives outside of their romantic dealings with men.
Understanding your own physiology and how you show up in relationships can help a woman understand herself better and make better decisions for a happier, healthier life (romantic or not). Have you really not taken any useful nuggets from this conversation?
Meeting people, love and romance are a part of life. Lisa is just showing us what not to accept or put up with it if it’s with the wrong person (someone who is leading you on). She is also trying to help us understand our differences so that we can make better choices. We are worth the self love and deserve better. Sometimes, we make lousy choices in love.
@@deb.m.7458 I never said those things weren't a part of life. My question is why has the channel changed focus from highlighting the exceptional achievements of women globally, into men men men, dating dating dating. It's an insidious change in direction. And I'm curious as to whether that was the original plan, or this is what we see when a channel starts pandering to what women have been conditioned to focus on in a patriarchal system. In the earlier days she features so many female CEOs and record breakers and I loved to see it because we as women are so starved of that content. But nowadays the videos on this channel are typically a variation of how to keep a man. It feels like a regression. My opinion anyways.
Ever wondered if those exceptional women understand themselves, their bodies, the way they interact with other people including their significant others? Do you not think that that is a solid foundation based on which one can become an exceptional "woman of impact"? Can you maybe try to reframe the way you see this current episode or is it only "men men men"? I am currently single and I personally find this episode extremely useful (for my own growth).

I agree on some of the comments about menopause helping you see reality! Yes, we as women put up with a lot and men say that women in menopause don’t care anymore… I call it instead the NO BS stage of our life! Enjoy!
Me too. I think she has taken a role of a mother in that regard. If she’s important to him and he knows anniversaries mean a lot to her, why is he not doing all that work that she does on his phone/ diary etc?
I wish he could talk about men that “enjoy cheating.” I’m not someone who experienced it chronically but the 1 time, was it really me even if it’s not ever happened before? Or was he just wired that way and he was going to keep doing that to everyone anyway (wish I’d known about the fingers check! lol). So not so much they can’t think ahead, but is there such a thing that they plan ahead even more because they can’t wait to go cheat because the thrill is the cheating ?

Loving this!! Just on the women having 52% less serotonin than men, was that an average taken across the month, as serotonin levels fluctuate massively depending on time of the menstrual cycle. I'm guessing they controlled for that. Interesting stuff!!

Lisa - love your channel. Had read Dr Amen’s books over the past decade. Was stunned recently to read BBB info on his highly costly (and profitable) business model and sales of supplements as well as other reputable medical professionals who call his work BS. So confusing
Something about this isn’t quite right! As a woman I respect Dr Amen for studying the science and breaking it down for us. However I have a sense that he is biased in his words and thoughts. I’ve also noticed that he casually shares quite a lot of confidential and mostly negative information about his loved ones, such as his ex-wife, children, in-laws or nieces that he adopted, just to validate himself. He tries hard to buy credibility for himself at the expense of others. Not sure if he’s aware that he’s doing that. In my opinion it was absolutely unnecessary that he casually throws it in there that “I adopted my nieces because they had a traumatic life!” Or “apparently we men are stressful, haha!” Totally dismissing a woman’s ability to judge as if she were delusional! Sensed an act of being dismissive and a slight gaslighting throughout the entire discussion, while science and bias just don’t go hand in hand!
Thank you both for this very enlightening conversation. I 've always known that men and women are wired differently, but this sheds a whole new light on the subject. Understanding the brain and how it functions is fascinating!

OMG i have just understood what happened to me in my late 30's !!😮 i felt it had to do with hormones, but the treatment was anxiety pills that i got hooked on. Wow. Thank you, i feel such a sense of relief to finally understand ❤❤❤
Also, this is the worst part, none of us exist in a bubble….. The quality of one’s mate choices impacts hormone levels! All of this means nothing until we study the hormone profiles of family units or couples to examine the effects we have on one another. You only need look at the research into the effects of cortisol on the endocrine system. Autoimmune disease, cancer, chronic illness. The impact of ACE scores on health etc. I would suggest that before advising women to go on hormones or any long term pharmaceutical treatments, to really understand the possible cause of the imbalance.
Great conversation! This is so true on so many levels between man and woman. We are different and that is ok ! we need people like this to help us understand how to deal with it and help relationships. Not everything they are talking about fits everyone’s situation but we can all get something out of this conversation ❤

@@sherriflemming3218 Sharp u r . No need to understand men who mismanage their masculinity. This causes a woman to b a slave. Great insight here, thanks.
Lmfaooo I love this😆❤️
It's the same old b s- This doctors making a loophole / Just another excuse for the human male To be a dead beat, And not have to take responsibility.
Men have a great memory capacity for things that matter and can even be super focused
For exemple: They can remember all the players of the football league, the transactions, date and time of the games.
@@rwdswght4057 I said IF they ACTUALLY care.
I am a woman & have adhd... I am still capable of remembering things and people that are important to me. I think most people are, so let them show you if/how much they value you.. then act accordingly.

Your judgement on the other hand tells more about you than it actually does about me.
i don’t know if I agree with the always reminding him of everything, if he knows he’s forgetful why can’t he put your anniversary in his calendar? same day every year
Because their frontal brain is not as developed. They lack the ability to think ahead.
Cause he's not thinking ahead lol
Why is it that we make ALL kinds of excuses and ACCOMODATIONS for men and handle them with *kid gloves* while women are just expected to suck it up?
I think men used to be the protectors physically like so we were safe and they hunted they were brave it’s sort of sad they don’t have to do that stuff anymore. But being a provider can make them feel amazing
@@miller5170 Yes, but today they don't do that either. Instead, they feel okay running away from their responsibilities. And there is a lot of 'coddling' going on in our societies when it comes to men which creates both laziness and a sense of entitlement in them.

Most allopathic physicians are woefully uneducated and unwilling to be in dumb m functional medicine and those that are charge way too much making their care out of reach of the majority of the population that needs it.

Why are Women picked apart and held responsible for everything?
This is precisely why women are more defensive.
Perhaps the greatest change is derived from women. Where there is impact for change or movement, you’ll find women.
Ever since Adam blamed Eve for his choice to eat the apple
And because in every culture on Earth, women do the bulk of child rearing. So if a kid turns out bad, the therapist asks "Tell me about your relationship with your mother".
Maybe mom had too many kids. Maybe dad was abusing her. Maybe she worked and daycare raised them. None of that seems to matter. They always blame the mom
Recently heard that Adam actually ate the apple but blamed it on Eve. Hence “Adam’s apple”. 😌
@@kpf2014 well he did "eat the apple" and blame Eve.
Although I believe the original sin was lust. Because if you look at the language, originally it said the serpent "BEGUILED" Eve. And the meaning of beguiled is a sexual one, meaning she was seduced
But he wasn't a serpent until after, as part of his punishment.
Exactly this!
exactly. is it worth it? probably not.
Idk I get bored easily lol I think everyone needs a hobby
😅😅😅 the one million question. Sorry, but women are waaaaaay more interesting. 🎉🎉😅
Relationships are complex. Single equals freedom and peace.
I believe that women are gifted with a cyclic rhythm that asks them to step back and rest or meditate….the constant pushing forward without rest creates distortion and imbalance.
Hey, that was very well said❤
Intriguing concept!
Rest and meditate? You mean keep working and mothering and menstrate pretending I'm not enduring physical pain while I do all the things. 🤨

Now, we've learned so much more about sugar and diet, but at the time my son needed to succeed socially and academicly. Now, as a menopausal 55 year old, looking after my parents in their 80's, this information is AGAIN so helpful to me. Thank you Lisa and Dr. Amen!!!
I feel this is a bit of excusing men for being sh** & again, making us caretakers while they skate by
Women work so much harder in life than men. We spend time grooming, cleaning, doing 99% of childcare, making spaces nice & building relationships- plus usually a job too. We also feel overburdened, lacking energy & yet we still pour passion into people. Yet they just roll out of bed & go to a job for some hours.. come back & can barely cope with a conversation, even after having beers with the boys to unwind
I thinkkkkk they could do more, and do better.
Totally agree tbh.

Great question! There will be no answer.
By nature- it’s males biology
So many men watching this are going use the "cycle" to verbally belittle the woman if she shows any negative emotion during that time of the month.
His wording is so strongly coded and skewed towards men who feel they should be in control of women and “their emotions”. The truth is that men are the emotional ones and women have to constantly calm them down and deal with their incompetence.
So clearly explained, and so repectful to women. Seems like such a great doctor.
I'm just here to say how much I love Lisa and her husband and I appreciate that they both are in there own journey to explore and find understanding for us. They both have no problem asking the most basic questions and finding the nuts and bolts of the universe.
PMDD is truly life altering. It’s like the worst possible emotional experience, every month of every other month and it is so so understudied
I've got way too much to do just to hold up the fort ❌️❌️❌️
I FELT THIS ❤
SO TRUE, THANKS GIRL
YOU'RE NOT ALONE 😘
OMG YESSSSSSS 💯💯💯
With my full time job and holding up the FORT alone, I don't have time for a breakdown, And if I did, it would be every day with peri menopause, PMDD, and now anemic because my cycle is so crazy HEAVY That I have to go every wednesday and get iron infusions at the hematologist.
I am an emotional roller coaster / dumpster on FIRE trying to still be a super empathetic hospice critical care nurse & Not have my patient's families hand ME THE TISSUE 😂🔥 🫠🤯
YOU nailed it...and you aren't alone 😘
💯💯💯💯
I agree. PMDD along with another major health issue stole two decades of my life from me (20s & 30s). Doctors said they didn't want to tinker around with hormone levels unless it was really bad. I WAS the worst case scenario, but no one would help me!
Thank you for this great episode. Im 44 and it is just what i needed!
Through a life of emotional pain and devotion for having to want live and never ever getting it, as a 61 yr old mother 3 with 11 grandchildren, i can honestly da6, they are all was more important than any man ever will be again!! Ive wasted a lot if my life and been more lonely with a man than i ever have been even though I enjoy being alone! Never been more fullfilled or happier
EMDR is amazing! I had a chaotic childhood too and this therapy really helped me massively, I found a great partner at 42 after always being in unsatisfactory relationships (understatement!)
So thier is hope ( i am 22)
Not every human and woman has the same character, which includes the empathy, iq, morals, spine. Knowing they own the physical strength is the only reason why men in general almost always don’t care or aren’t bothered about what others think of him.
I was given progesterone for ten years before my period ended because I had severe PMS. I was part of a study group for this. It worked.
Just 10 minutes into this interaction, I am just loving it ❤
Cuz were better girl!😉🌸
Sick of caring what men think and why they do what they do. Good luck to the rest of you.
😂
Oh my God, this video has been the best two hours of my life ! Dear Lisa, Dear Dr Amen, thank you so much !!! I admire your wisdom, your personal set-up and passion. Only the wise love their brains, and I thank God for being amongst them 🙂 Thank you once again for sharing your wisdom with me !
RUclips keeps having me come back to this interview, like wow! seriously!?! So many gems in here...
Interesting point.
Li-te-ra-lly
Bravo. Somebody gets it.
I really like that Dr Amen looks for the best in people, optimistic, knows the science etc.
But my opinion, he can come across as an apologist for dysfunctional harmful people. Most of what he talks about here puts the burden on women to accommodate men's difficulties, but not visa versa...
We need the female version of hem to give the female perspective more indeed...
EXACTLY 🎯
That's what I got out of it too.
It's because women need to be convinced to be with men, men don't need much convincing. And they'd forget what he said anyways.
The sugar question that he dodged is about progesterone. Progesterone as we get closer to our periods makes us want sugar
This is the best video you have shared yet. I need to find out who this man is, and follow all his social media. This changed my perception to my own response. I am not getting a period at 45 but I am still getting hell week one week out of the month. Like How?? Mind blown! Thank you for sharing.
I'm really happy he's talking about the menstrual cycle. It's so important to know because women do have monthly fluctuations.
Men have their fluctuasions either: TESTOSTERON.
According to their age, 1-3 days after sex they cannot stand to see any woman, hear or interact.
They tend to run from women and hide in a secret cave.
Thank you Dr. Amen for spreading the message to reduce social media usage, toxic processed food, and toxic products.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
@@soccermommyNPC oh really? No intelligence necessary huh? Why don’t u have a pet rat try to do this then and come back to me afterwards.
I think menopause depression comes because people finally see reality.
You need to have your brain scanned
It has to be realized, and noted here is..... They have both been indoctrinated and infected by patriarchal regime- "and did not have the females best interest in mind"- What should be obvious to everybody by now.
That has had control over people for over five thousand years now. And has absolutely nothing to do with biology, or how Our creator made us to be.
also notice he's not considering how much more women have to deal with in this society.. Like Horrific internal and external body image, Her safety, How she has to do almost everything in the family unit..... ect
@kattodoggo3868 ur brainwashed.

Oh man, cellphone affects us like a cocaine, oh my god, that hit me. Also the sugar inflaming everything, so true. I’m so glad everyone from the guy from tictok Eddie to this guy who is a doctor in his field are talking our diets: sugar and carbs are so toxic not only to health, but the brain. More fat and protein - so glad this knowledge is becoming ubiquitous.
Processed carbs are bad whole frutis veggies and whole grains are very healthy many Africans their stable of their diet is millet these people are very healthy I follow a girl from Africa on here actually . They are like glowing they are so healthy
I’ve been on 5HTP for a month and it’s helped my depression so much. You have to wait out the first 2 weeks because it takes a longer time to build up in the body before the chemical serotonin level is enough to change your depression.
So glad you're getting better. Facing depression myself, I added 2000 mg of vitamin C as magnesium ascorbate and saw much improvement. I also recently started taking algal calcium (Now Foods brand), boron (also Now Foods), and strontium citrate (Nutricost brand), which continue to improve my depression. I don't each much dairy, and have a lot of stress that demands more vitamin C. I hope and pray you continue to feel better; depression is a pit and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Love this interview. I too, am fascinated with the brain & psychology. I want to know why people do what they do. Great story about the Husband who worked in a furniture factory for yrs, who knew? Thank you!!
This one deserves a million likes!
Imagine tampering with their testosterone to make them more empathetic. The outrage it would cause.
I'm sorry. But HRT. Is one big gamble. Pretty risky for being linked to the Big C
@@kaythomas8521 Absolutely. HRT only in extreme cases.
Self care and a healthy lifestyle holistically is a better idea.
That’s concerning too. Tempering with a woman’s body just to make her “feminine.” 😢
I was very impressed by his clinic and his methods/studies 10 yrs ago. Brilliant.
So glad you come into that! Maybe She's sold us out! Hubby brainwashed her!
This is on a watch list to watch again with my partner... So much valuable info.
at 50 I was put on antidepressants, in hind sight I think it should have been HRT.
Wow. This is so eye-opening. Thank you very much for this very valuable insight.
according to this if women find a way to be regulated emotionally then theyre the premium kinds of all of the creatures out there
l love this conversation between you two women. So rare. l am 78 & still very active. l believe a smple diet with all types of food is very important. Non-processed fruits veggies & meat.
Lisa, you really know how to ask the best questions!
She is absolutely amazing on it
I agree on some of the comments about menopause helping you see reality! Yes, we as women put up with a lot and men say that women in menopause don’t care anymore… I call it instead the NO BS stage of our life! Enjoy!
27:47 sounds like too much effort lol I just wouldn’t celebrate an anniversary and see where things go
Me too. I think she has taken a role of a mother in that regard. If she’s important to him and he knows anniversaries mean a lot to her, why is he not doing all that work that she does on his phone/ diary etc?
What I do get out of this interview is that our brain indeed matters. So we have to take more care of our brain than of our cloth.
Elisa, it can be cultural and for various reasons. Sam Vaknin has great podcasts on the topic. Also James Sexton divorce attorney has great podcasts.
@@sherriflemming3218 I get that , have seen them. I’m interested in their brain scans, not anecdotal. Does that make sense?
@@sherriflemming3218 thanks sherri! I'd still really like to see scans because I know not all men chase sex

We loose purpose once kids leave nest. This is why women need to be very active in community and help others and find ways to find purpose. We need to do !!!
Funny you say that, as I've been preparing for this mentally before they're all off to college and adult lives
No 'WE' don't lose purpose. Speak for yourself.
Women should create full lives for themselves from the beginning.
U can have a full one and still lose it to balancing raising children
I always pay attention when Dr. Amen speaks. He makes sense to me. As for todays interview, I was not able to relate. But i loved the pink.
Loving this!! Just on the women having 52% less serotonin than men, was that an average taken across the month, as serotonin levels fluctuate massively depending on time of the menstrual cycle. I'm guessing they controlled for that. Interesting stuff!!
Every time I see this doctor, I learn so many new things-he’s amazing to me, and I wish I lived near his clinic bc I’d love to go…and bring a few people I love with me, lol. His whole countenance is so kind to me, which makes the info easier to digest when I want to clap back with realities I don’t like (maybe bc I have a long ring finger, hehehe)
Hobbies I have a lot of hobbies that I enjoy that really make me happy and I'm a school bus driver which I love and a union member who's on the executive board which makes me happy and I do my exercises half an hour before I go to bed and it actually helps relax me. Because after I exercise for 20 minutes I stretch for 10 which is relaxing

In my opinion it was absolutely unnecessary that he casually throws it in there that “I adopted my nieces because they had a traumatic life!”
Or “apparently we men are stressful, haha!” Totally dismissing a woman’s ability to judge as if she were delusional! Sensed an act of being dismissive and a slight gaslighting throughout the entire discussion, while science and bias just don’t go hand in hand!
Something isn’t quite right. We need other educated individuals discussing this topic as well. Thanks for noticing it.
Thank you both for this very enlightening conversation. I 've always known that men and women are wired differently, but this sheds a whole new light on the subject. Understanding the brain and how it functions is fascinating!
How happy one is…. ( MY perspective ) is how HEART CENTERED one is and NOT brain dominated.
Girl, your style is too cute! And yes, we are very different. Its amazing we can co-exist at all
Great interview!!! But my goodness, all the ad breaks! Do you really still need the money?
Glad its is on social media to help others in the path . I suffered enough for everyone i think. So happy it’s gone aging not so great but getting rid of that red dragon was nice. Learning what my body is really going through helped tremendously getting enough magnesium epic help.
That's why Alternative Medicine works. Due to the holistic approach and longterm experience which Science is now evidencing. Great Interviews!
