It's nice I'm no longer the first to comment! Anyway here are some more advanced tips, hopefully you find them useful. Now it's time for more truck guides so let me know what you want to see :)
Neutral is useful. If using an autonomous winch, you can cross water without a snorkel by turning the engine off and winching. But in Neutral it seems to have less engine braking and so it goes faster.
Here’s a tip. Don’t drive like a lunatic. When I first started playing I got the first pickup on a raised chassis with the largest Off-road tires and the best engine. Went full speed and almost tipped into a ditch. Don’t drive fast, drive smart.
To use neutral properly, also turn off the engine and watch gravity to it's thing. It's great on a nice paved downhill slope, you can catch some massive speed even with big slow trucks, which then immediately translates to a nasty crash at the bottom of the hill, but hey, if you want downhill speed with neutral, perfectly doable.
Maybe a handy tip - with an autonomous winch I recently managed to drag my out of fuel scout to its goal and then onwards a considerable distance through trees to within refuelling range of a parked tanker. Was one of those lands with no garage so it was worth it.
Pre-idle fuel costs (ah, OG Spintires...) this was a thing. I once winched my truck and trailer over half the map to the garage. Successfully completing mission like that gave an incredible sense of achievement. Well done!
Another tip similar to the wheelie one Is use the crane as counter balance. I needed to drive along a path that sloped down to the right i had a cargo of steel beams on the back and it was about to tip me down the hill, so i unpacked the cargo lifted it with the crane and moved it over the up hill side, drove past the sketchy part of the road and then re loaded and packed the cargo.
Its weight displacement and depeind on the addons single tigers wont hold the weight as well i.e the van shop body or fuel tanker on dually vs single tires
Another great tip is keeping an eye on the auto save, you can quickly quit the game sometimes and get reloaded just before you tipped and lost your precious 4hr job cargo or got stuck
@@RS-sv3bl yeah same, It happened to me so many times that i got pissed off and closed app on ps5 and reopened it 10 minutes later and I was still on 4 wheels lol
I have 2 tips. 1. Use (low) or (low-)on steep hills for hill decent control. 2. If you are having trouble maintaining traction in Alaska. Drive with one side of your truck in the snow. But be warned it can get you into trouble. Because of ditches, trees etc. Stay safe and healthy.
2. That actually also works IRL. I learned that one from my father. He once got us home when a hill close to our house was completely frozen over, by wiggling the cars left tires on and off the very edge of the low curb, which was not frozen, just snowy. He was my ingenius hero back then. 😲
Another tip - when using a controller and you don’t like the steering you can change the steering input in setting/game/steering mode and switch between controller and steering wheel. When using a controller and have it on steering wheel mode it will act like all other car/racing games like forza or gta. Will cause automatic centring when using controller in this mode
Need more "pull me forward" out of a winch? Pull from front bumper up to your anchor, disconnect, attach REAR bumper to same anchor and get another truck-length of fwd winching.
-On PC alt+F4 will have you respawn at the last quicksave point once you reopen the game. -The wider the tire the better : Dont dig into mud and have more traction on them. -Mud tires > chained tires if the ice deforms or breaks, as it is coded as mud as well. -If a route looks like its supposed to be driven, it usually isnt or has major obstacles (Rubber trees and massive rocks) -You can carry logs unpacked in the sideboard trailer up to 24 medium stacked 12 over 12 and 12 long logs as 6 over 6: No more 100 trips to deliver 6 log loads. Manual loading required -Ground (mud, road and snow) and objects are different in traction. Even if rocks should have 10/10 bite on offroad tires, they dont as they have next to 0 traction. -Tartarin is a must find scout, it pulls everything easily through the deepestmud and can ace all contests but one (quarry race I think) -Low gear lowers your CG in quite a few trucks -Difflock is a mere suggestion in game, under high load the diff slips either way -unlike spintires and mudrunner, trucks can now be packed too if they are on a bed or trailer -rescue cars are considerably heavier than your owned ones -unpacked loads are significantly lighter than packed ones, unpacked cars are opposite -The winch can be used as a grappling hook/ turning aid -High saddle trailers have a massive ground clearance issue, use only on gentle slopes -Special objective trailers are not dropping their load EVER, you can pull them with the winch once detatched without worry -if you want to know if a trailer is needed for an objective, try the delete trailer option, it wont show on needed trailers
@@adventurzwithiain put car on trailer : open menu (for crane and trailers) use "Pack trucks and trailers" If you have enough space, yellow wheel chucks will appear
'Swingshot' around trees by snapping on winch as you approach then swing wide and let momentum continue. Bonus points if done on cliff edge on last tree. On PC, bind all gear positions to numpad, 4 Lo 8 Hi 2 rev 5 auto etc. Instantly slap gearsets on the fly, no more fumbling the gearstick. When using different lo gears, diff lock stays on.
Having played like 20 hours of spin tires. I hopped into snow runner expecting nearly the same thing. I was not disappointed. AT ALL. it takes the best of spintires and adds to it drastically. For the better. I love the personalization of everything in snowrunner.
I never played the original spintires, but I did put about 100 hours into Mudrunner and I'm not disappointed with Snowrunner (just finished all contracts, excluding logging, about 200 hour into the game). I only have a couple minor complaints. Mudrunner had better mud graphics and physics. The detail of the mud building on the tires and sloshing around was so realistic and awesome. It's still mostly there in Snowrunner, just not as much. Also for a game called Snowrunner, only 1 of the 3 regions has snow. They should have made all 3 regions with snow. Like in Russia and Michigan there should be snow in certain areas at higher elevations, or have at least 1 of the 4 maps in the region be covered in snow.
Tbh i disagree partially bc spintires AND mudrunner had an option to control the winched trucks acceleration on your own, which snowrunner does not, this makes singleplayer games .... Which without chat that snowrunner doesnt have is pretty much always the case, oh right and the fact you cant choose what lobby to join, or the fact you cant just join some lobby then download the mods then ready up, nah you gotta have em beforehand so get ready to download the whole workshop to have some fun experiences and find new trucks. Idiotic game design choice oh and the fact they lock most interesting trucks behind a paywall now.
@@tipips you need to understand that this comment is a year old. I have a job so I can afford the 5 bucks every 3 months. Doesn't mean I've bought dlc. And I've hardly played the game since I've posted this comment. I got to like 100 hours and quit playing because of the tedious missions. Multiplayer is the only true way to enjoy it for what it is.
One tip is to use clutch LB/L1 is you want to change gears quickly. For example, if you are in automatic gear (4th or 5th gear) and you drive through deep mud, normally the truck will stop and restart in 1st gear, but if you tap clutch button, you gearbox will go to 1st or 2nd gear without stopping, it'll be easier that way. It can work the other way also Not sure if I explain it correctly^^ Nice video again
ive been doing this too! when you first start moving in auto mode tap left bumper and you will force the truck to upshift making it much faster (you are able to skip the slower low gears and bump right into 3rd or 4th)
A very useful little trick I found today is that when you're sick of your truck being sluggish when getting up to reasonable speed, start with high range and when it hits it's top speed switch to auto. This way you don't need to row through the gears and skip to 6 or 7 instead. Useful when you're in a hurry (me all the time)
Solid video, the cargo and fuel tips are brilliant. Another pro tip is ninja closing the app. If the game isn’t mid-auto-saving and you roll, close the app and poof, your game backs up a few seconds to the last save point. Then you should load back into your situation just before your critical mistake. Wish we had that kinda rewind in life. Keep making content, your awesome!
Cool video! I wanted to add a couple of tips based on my experience and some insights others shared with me: 1. OHD1 tires are much more stable than mud tires; you won't tip or bounce as much with them, they are often mounted as dual tires on the rear axles, and because they aren't as "elastic", they don't collapse under heavy loads. The datamined values for tires may show the mud tires as having better grip, but I never use the balloon tires any more, because the OHD1 works so much better (if you don't have OHD1, use UOD2). 2. The small loading cranes can pick up scout trucks and put them in a trailer/bed for easy transport. If you try to use the small crane for truck rescue, however, it will likely tip its own truck due to the flimsy anchors. 3: If you do equip a spare wheel, pay attention to where the wheel is mounted on the truck. If it's mounted on the underside, it could drag in mud and snow. 4: Navigating fast-moving water (e.g. in Maine) is much easier if you use a truck that's very heavy (KOLOBs, Twinsteer, BOAR, P16). The size will help ensure the wheels reach the bottom, and the weight reduces the effects of the water trying to push the truck. 5: If there's a troublesome spot of breakable ice that needs to be crossed repeatedly, park the CAT 745C or similar vehicle with large tires nearby and use it as a "ferry", just towing whatever comes by across.
Even though I seem to be past most such tips I still watched the full vid because it was so enjoyable :) o wait WHAT trailer shops can fit the corresponding saddle?? Four potentially handy remarks/tips: 1) As in 8:40 I also use that pre-empt winch technique for sharper cornering with trucks like an Azov... 2) When in crane mode --> push right stick (camera btn) to change camera viewpoints to better align the hook/cargo. 3) When you tipped over and your engine is still running AND you have a crane equipped you can use the crane mode to push your truck upright. Handy in cases where there are no winch points near you or when winching trees isn't dragging the truck upright. 4) If the spare wheel upgrade is attached behind the truck cab, like on the taiga, it will take space (just as a crane or a cabin protector) and you'll have to choose.
Thanks for your suggestions! I mentioned the crane one in my basic tips video. To be honest I'm running out of things to add when it comes to tips, the core concept is basic. But it's awesome you watched anyway!
You can haul 6 slots with one truck by having a sideboard bed and a ramped trailer, semi trailer has 5 for comparison. Also if you're struggling for engine power and you're winch stops helping you can attach it to something in front from a rear attachment point and it helps pull you that last bit.
Great job on these videos! I learned a bit from a few tips I didn't know about. Thanks! Here's a Pro tip for YOU. If you are pulling a particularly long or heavy trailer through some nasty muddy terrain with very few winch points, you can get yourself much further forward using trick. Once you have winched your truck next to the only tree in winch range, manually reattach your winch from the rear of your trailer to the same tree. This will pull your vehicle forward till the truck AND most of the trailer are past the tree and you can hopefully reach a new winch point by then. Give it a try! And keep up the good work!
One more thing about *20) Master the crane* : While in "crane mode"... if you _tap_ on [B] to exit menu -> you will be back in "drive mode" if you _press_ [B] (i.e keep your finger on it) -> you will be back on "functions menu" I found it usefull since I often use "restore crane" once my crane job is done.
I've got a tip for you I didn't see in your videos, I consider it cheating a bit. when transporting logs, most trucks become very topheavy and prone to tipping, simply unpack the logs, those three logs arent going anywhere while you drive, and you hardly notice you have cargo, then before delivery simply pack it and unload. Good tips! Keep up the good work
The white Western Star 4694 I think that's the number but that truck has a tendency to roll the f*** over all the time I just like the ANK which by the way I love that military vehicle but it's a shame that rolls over so easily
Did not know you could winch to another vehicle and it would drive while you drive. Cool! Tip#26 Even though they don't allude to it anywhere in the game in a tutorial in anyway... Clutch kicking is a thing. 3:08 if you would have tapped the left bumper (while holding down on the gas) while you were stuck on the side of that rock you could have potentially clutch kicked your way up the Rock. It has a similar Force to putting it in high gear. I learned about clutch kicking from watching a streamers gameplay. Do not knock it until you've tried it with a loaded semi approaching mud!!! In some instances if you clutch kick at just the right moment you can keep your loaded vehicle on top of the mud instead of sinking down into it. To stay on top of mud you have to clutch kick right before you see the deep mud start. If the deep mud goes for a long-distance you're not going to be able to clutch kick and stay on top of all of its just to get you over short patches
Idk if it's in the video, but this tip changed my entire experience & made the game waaaaay better ! Tap Left Bumper on Xbox whenever you want to downshift going up a hill or shift up in a scout for a speedy pull, etc. Makes the game WAY better & I never saw anywhere in the game that mentioned it. No more stalling in 3rd & downshifting to first gear 3/4 to the top of a hill.
This is in one of my videos somewhere, I forget which one. But yes it is great, your truck spends less time grinding to a halt or slowly accelerating. I use the truck all the time.
hearing michigan is the most user-friendly map makes me reevaluate why i try to play this game. i've done 4 restarts to date before i finally feel like i'm starting to get the hang of it 😂
A quick tip on the subject of cranes I found out the hard way is if you forget to unpack your cargo with the truck carrying it then you recall that to the garage on the other side of the map you can flip the trailer with the crain to knock the cargo out of it then you can pick it up!
@11:40...I always use a low saddle and 5 bay trailer, open bed. When faced with a slot heavy mission, I use another red steerable trailer behind attached by winch. Up to 10 slots can be transported using this method. If it’s bad terrain, grab another rig and semi trailer and winch him instead.
Great tips thanks, I have a tip for you and everyone else. If you just dont care about using lower gears and just automatic. You will notice when you start slowing down in mud your rig will lurch to a stop before shifting to 1st gear. You can eliminate this sudden stop that waste your time and tap the gear shift button L1 if your on xbox and your rig will quickly shift into a lower gear without slowing you down or stopping. This can also help when speeding up as it takes a second to shift up so you can shift faster with the shift button to jump up a gear, sometimes skipping a gear all in all. Such as 2nd to 4th with one tuch. This can help especially going down hill : )
It sucks somtimes but I try my best not to recover a truck if I really get in a jam that I cant winch out of with a rescue truck or crane I will mentally pretend I had to pay a better trucking company to bail me back to the garage. Idk why but this game has really had a impact on me I love it
Another outstanding and funny vid! I knew about half of the tips from experimenting as I play the game but still learnt another bunch of great new things to help me progress. I'm nearly done on Smithville Dam and have not jumped ahead as yet - but some days I feel so daunted that I'm only half way through Michigan I have to play something else that genuinely involves mindless driving (GT7, WRC 10, F1 2021). One thing I noticed is how easy it is to wreck a vehicle by customising it. I gave the CK1500 the high suspension and the biggest tyres I could buy as soon as I levelled up enough and it turned into a tippy, uncontrollable pig of a thing (so a bit like the khan 39 but without the amazing water performance). Switched it back to 31" AT's and stock suspension but kept the roofrack with extra fuel and I still use it as my go to scout even now 20% through the game... it's been absolutely brilliant. Also would you (or anyone else) know what tyres I can use on the Khan 39 that makes it even a little easier to control? That thing is everywhere, all the time, just randomly seems to drive an any old direction on road or off road. I only take out when I absolutely have to get somewhere no other scout will go (I don't have the Hummer or Tuz etc yet) as it's sooooo disgustingly hard to drive!
Thank you for the nice words and comment! The Khan 39 used to be even worse. I think the gearbox helps more than the tyres but it's always unruly. And you're right, some mods (particularly higher suspension) can really make trucks harder to use. The Hummer is similar, but the TUZ 420 is a mud beast! Worth getting for exploration. Just avoid water...
@@ATribeCalledCars Thanks - re the Khan, I have the Snowrunner gearbox in it and it's still god-awful to drive but today I'll do some tests with all three gearboxes and see if any of them make any difference. It still a brilliant vehicle but I just wish I didn't hate taking it out so much!
14:17 - keeping it in gear is more fuel efficient, you just wont travel as far due to the engine braking cool video thanks, just getting into snowrunner
Tip: use the tether winch technique. Before descending a steep slope attach a winch on a nearby tree and ascend the slope slowly while the winch is attached. This will help you not fall down the slope and damage your truck.
if you really need the heavy crane, use the P12. It's the only truck where the heavy crane is put on a lifted base so the legs don't get caught on the terrain.
Not sure if this is dead obvious but catching back loads from one map to the other can save time on the missions . You just need to look at the load list of other missions that are to come and what resources are on the map to figure if you will need a load from another area allowing you to have the load ready to go when you need it.
You can actually use the clutch for speed instead of the handbrake. When your driving on 1st get a little initial movement going and tap the button that lets you switch gears and you'll get a huge boost of speed. A lot of the time I will go from 1st to 4th in an instant. You can also use the clutch to get out of auto reverse a little faster
You can carry the wood unpacked so its less weight. We even used to load 9 logs without packing and then pack them in groups of 3 at the place of delivery with my friend, making it a one-trip task.
Also Also, I have found a legitimate use for the neutral gear in snowrunner. In my case, I had to push a truck through a narrow canyon because I couldn't get round to the front. Placing the stuck truck in neutral made it easier to push. I imagine the same applies for winching dead trucks.
Like the videos, thanks, some things were still new to me. Always nice to see how other people think and do things, as you never know and might pick up some new tricks, haha. I found the neutral gear pretty nice to have on scouts, if you are stuck out in the wupwups and low on fuel or already empty and you have an automated winch, you can just stop the engine, save the fuel (if any left) and pull yourself from tree to tree or whatever lies about. Neutral will make it easier for the winch to pull you through terrain when not using any engine power. Also when you are pulling a damaged vehicle and or tanks are empty on said vehicle, you can put that in neutral and change trucks and pull that along easier. Works probably best with coop mode, I guess. (usually you can refuel from vehicle to vehicle a little, I know)
Loving the vids, they are helping so much. I have a tip, when you're 100 meters from your destination don't hit a barrier, apparently it flips you onto you roof instantly. You'r going to have a bad time OKKKKAAAY.
A little tip for speed demons, when using a truck with a bad turning circle like the Dan when you get to the turning winch to a lamp post on the corner and keep driving you will instantly turn 90 dagrees in a second. Done this so many times it's loads of fun making a 50 ton truck turn like a fly
Great vids, very helpful. My favorite truck so far is the Royal BM17. I just love the way it looks and despite not having a locking differential it just seems to keep going. Really wish I could get a copy for my friend to do co-op with me. Anyway keep up the good content and stay safe.
I think this game is Really Fun!! I grew up In a place that was once Country, Woods and lots of Mud etc.. my pops ran a Junkyard and I got to grow up driving Various different types of Vehicles, starting with a GoKart at age 3!! I started this Game, using No Mods to begin with.. But after a few weeks of Really Struggling, I downloaded an assortment of different Vehicle&Trailer Mods that ultimately make the Game a lot more Fun & not so super Difficult!!
I'm still enjoying the game nearly two years later so definitely can't be bad. Envious of the junkyard thing! I also wanted a few random vehicles when growing up. As for mods, go for it. I'm more into enjoyment than realism these days.
@@ATribeCalledCars No you wouldn’t be too envious of my life specifically for how many times I almost got killed and had to be rushed to the hospital.. but definitely as far as the vehicles and going through mud and everything in four-wheel-drives!! When I was nine years old my dad gave me a Ford Pinto a little white Ford Pinto wagon? It was a little two door looking wagon?
watching this in august and he's close 60k subs now. crazy! I barely play this game anymore but the quality of the videos is so good that sometime I come back randomly, usually if I can't sleep or if i'm high lol. Keep up the good work and high quality vids
On PC you can just go to the pause menu and it will tell you to hit F (or whichever key) to enter photo mode and the HUD is removed. You can also then change camera settings, i.e. aperture, saturation, contrast etc.
A very important trick to use, especially if you're stuck trying to recover an especially big truck (especially with the new difficulty settings in Hard Mode or New Game + making recovery cost money), or you're doing a recovery mission and don't quite have a large enough truck for the job, like the drowned heavy truck im Black River, you can park with a large stump, tree, boulder, or any relatively immovable object between you and your winch target to brace against. This makes even the weedy Autonomous Winch effective at freeing even the biggest superheavy vehicle from the mire.
One trick I like to use when trying to haul uphill is winching from the back of the trailer. Feels like an abuse of physics but you're essentially using your winch to push your trailer against your truck to help push it up difficult slopes. Just be careful not to over do it and lift your trailer off the ground
You forgot using the winch to turn rapidly and make sharp turns on uneven surfaces. I call it Spidertruck method as it latches from trees and speeds up even in the tightest turns.
Thanks for sharing these advanced SnowRunner tips, tricks, and secrets! I'm always looking to take my skills to the next level and these insights will definitely help me out. Appreciate it! 💯❄
Hope you keep making more videos of this game. I loved Mud runners and was often on my own. Jump into too late I suppose. Just got Snow Runners and am already lost. So much to do. Good videos & humor. Keep it up
I’ve also got great wheelies out of the kodiak c70 with the lift kit, high saddle, and heavy trailer on with anything heavy that fits just do some little roll backs and it’ll drag frame for days
I just realized when you unpack cargo the rear end sits back up even while the cargo is still in the back. So unpacking cargo before going through mud might help out with weight reduction, might need to do some testing first.
If you want the best acceleration, when you start rolling, shift into high range and then shift back into auto.... this will drop you into the highest gear in automatic and give you close to your top speed straight away.
Combine the H gear launch with a ninjawinch to a stuck trailer can help get it moving, though if your a little overzealous I have sent it flying overhead before... so worth it hahaha
Keeping the camera set slightly to the side of truck, typically on the outside of a corner is a good way to keep an eye on which direction your front wheels are facing so you don't turn too much into the corner and smash into the inside barrier.
I used the paystar with a large crane to aid in rescuing the white western star at the dam. Was quite effective and can shave time if you know what you're doing.
I got it stuck on one of the hills, got behind it, and carefully pulled it past that using the force of the crane against the cab and then lifting it and pushing it forward. After multiple attempts of pushing and pulling with no luck, the crane worked pretty effectively.
Another good tip that people don't notice although I'm a noob: sometimes it's better to drive off muddy paths to get across rough surfaces, for example I was in alaska and I tried to drive across a river but I got stuck in the middle and could only winch myself out, where as when I winched back in I noticed I was moving quicker when off path, so I pulled back to get a run up then I drove as fast as I could turned off road slightly then I managed to get across much easier, although later on I upgraded my tyres and diff lock then I got across no issue, so a tip for the noobs really
Heavy Burden can be farmed with a stock Paystar. I did it with a sideboard bed and a ramp trailer for the first run then detach the trailer and recover the truck. The first run with 6x Service Parts takes about 4:00 but the subsequent 3 trips with no trailer only take 2:15. 4 completed runs with the trailer returned takes about 15-18 minutes (1480XP and 12200 money).
I keept flipping some of my scout trucks like Chevy and scout 800. Found that they where top heavy, so I removed all the add-ons (roof rack and trunk parts) that helped slot and I didn't really need them. You should play around with the Scout's.w/ without upgraded suspension and w/without add-ons, the difference in handling and mobility is quite significant. I prefer my H2 with no add-ons and stock suspension.
I agree with the Eurobeat for drifts, I suggest a short compilation video for grins. Fail Race makes some amusing Co-op playthrough videos worth watching. Voice is cool, don't look old though. Overall, keep up the great work!
If your tire is blown and you don’t have a spare one, you can use the spare tire from a totally different truck. I have repaired a few trucks with the spare of my Khan.
Placing fuel trailers is a very good idea. I just started playing and the Dam area doesn't have a fuel station on the northern part of the map and I got stuck a couple times
Just to add to towing another truck. It's great for pulling very heavy loads through mud or up steep hills with lower powered trucks. You always have to be the lead truck towing the one behind and the truck behind drives autonomously. It accelerates, steers, and brakes with you. I'm not sure if it matches the gearbox and AWD/Diff-lock settings between both trucks but it definitely helps you get through areas you wouldn't with just one truck. If both trucks are under powered then have an empty truck up front and loaded truck in the back. If they can handle their own weight then both loaded and you just have more capacity but a lower speed. the front truck will pull the back truck but the back truck can also push the front truck. When I was pulling one of the very large construction trailers with the pacific P16 up a steep hill around a corner in low- gear (the very low gear with off road gearbox) the wheels just stopped. That truck didn't even have enough power even though its amazing. So I got my most powerful other truck and pulled it the rest of the way up the hill. It was the only way i could complete that haul. -You drive slower even on hard ground when towing a truck even though the truck behind is powering itself. -The truck you're towing seems to use less fuel so I'm guessing the truck in front will use more. -I'm not sure if both trucks match the gears and AWD/Diff locks (if you put your truck in low range does it put the rear truck in low as well?) -Its great for pulling heavy loads through mud -It's great for transporting two trucks to another map that doesn't have a garage.
In Imandra, did you know, to get out of the ice, instead of getting another truck? I used the loading crane to get out on many occasions. Use it like a paddle to dig and twist the truck out of the ice. I must say, I was surprised to see it work, but it does. Easiest on the lighter trucks.
When using trucks such as the Khan 39, notice how the handbrake only locks the rear tires. This is useful when needing to do a tight turn, as the rear axle is locked the wheels will slip on the ground when you turn, allowing you to turn almost at 90 degrees. Works best on even and smooth terrain such as roads and dirt trails
It's nice I'm no longer the first to comment! Anyway here are some more advanced tips, hopefully you find them useful. Now it's time for more truck guides so let me know what you want to see :)
Thanks for mentioning my map! Much appreciated :)
The anchor will usually reach all the way down; take them off, then on again.
It is you? I am honoured! You have skills.

Neutral is useful. If using an autonomous winch, you can cross water without a snorkel by turning the engine off and winching. But in Neutral it seems to have less engine braking and so it goes faster.
Dang, didn't think of that.
Here’s a tip. Don’t drive like a lunatic. When I first started playing I got the first pickup on a raised chassis with the largest Off-road tires and the best engine. Went full speed and almost tipped into a ditch. Don’t drive fast, drive smart.
Sage advice. Take it steady.
If you see a hole, you must be in low

You are so correct, but I… actually fell in a ditch 🤣🤣🤣
I was the same but now I've been playing for 2 years I've finally learnt🤣🤣
To use neutral properly, also turn off the engine and watch gravity to it's thing. It's great on a nice paved downhill slope, you can catch some massive speed even with big slow trucks, which then immediately translates to a nasty crash at the bottom of the hill, but hey, if you want downhill speed with neutral, perfectly doable.
Glad I’m not the only one
One of the most underrated tips that I haven't seen on any video.
Another tip: double offroad rear tires are generally better than single mud rear tires.
You're right, helps with stability too.
Is it the difference in track width or contact patch that sets them apart?
@@Project337 I think both, double rear tires will usually have a larger contact surface area thus improving traction
Its weight displacement and depeind on the addons single tigers wont hold the weight as well i.e the van shop body or fuel tanker on dually vs single tires
That's why the Kodiak sucks
Another great tip is keeping an eye on the auto save, you can quickly quit the game sometimes and get reloaded just before you tipped and lost your precious 4hr job cargo or got stuck
Ninja eject, like it.
Yea
Use this ALL the time. Wasted hours going over the same and the same and the same before I found it
@@RS-sv3bl yeah same, It happened to me so many times that i got pissed off and closed app on ps5 and reopened it 10 minutes later and I was still on 4 wheels lol
Man used this so many times, wounding when it happens to save as you tip over 😂
I have 2 tips.
1. Use (low) or (low-)on steep hills for hill decent control.
2. If you are having trouble maintaining traction in Alaska. Drive with one side of your truck in the snow. But be warned it can get you into trouble. Because of ditches, trees etc.
Stay safe and healthy.
high gear is better for steeps hills, but you get that later in the game
2. That actually also works IRL. I learned that one from my father.
He once got us home when a hill close to our house was completely frozen over,
by wiggling the cars left tires on and off the very edge of the low curb, which was not frozen, just snowy.
Took me ages to find this. Improves the game so much in my opinion. Less crashes haha
Wow, havent played in 6 months but starting again today and this will help immensely. Always hated the steering mechanics on controller. Thanks.
@@JakobeOG its the best thing I've found out on that game
Need more "pull me forward" out of a winch? Pull from front bumper up to your anchor, disconnect, attach REAR bumper to same anchor and get another truck-length of fwd winching.
I can't believe I never thought of that!
Eyy I been doing this since mudrunner
I have been doing this since Spintires
-On PC alt+F4 will have you respawn at the last quicksave point once you reopen the game.
-The wider the tire the better : Dont dig into mud and have more traction on them.
-Mud tires > chained tires if the ice deforms or breaks, as it is coded as mud as well.
-If a route looks like its supposed to be driven, it usually isnt or has major obstacles (Rubber trees and massive rocks)
-You can carry logs unpacked in the sideboard trailer up to 24 medium stacked 12 over 12 and 12 long logs as 6 over 6: No more 100 trips to deliver 6 log loads. Manual loading required
-Ground (mud, road and snow) and objects are different in traction. Even if rocks should have 10/10 bite on offroad tires, they dont as they have next to 0 traction.
-Tartarin is a must find scout, it pulls everything easily through the deepestmud and can ace all contests but one (quarry race I think)
-Low gear lowers your CG in quite a few trucks
-Difflock is a mere suggestion in game, under high load the diff slips either way
-unlike spintires and mudrunner, trucks can now be packed too if they are on a bed or trailer
-rescue cars are considerably heavier than your owned ones
-unpacked loads are significantly lighter than packed ones, unpacked cars are opposite
-The winch can be used as a grappling hook/ turning aid
-High saddle trailers have a massive ground clearance issue, use only on gentle slopes
-Special objective trailers are not dropping their load EVER, you can pull them with the winch once detatched without worry
-if you want to know if a trailer is needed for an objective, try the delete trailer option, it wont show on needed trailers
Lmao UOD IIs are better than TMHS 1s
How do you pack cars? On a towing trailer?
@@adventurzwithiain put car on trailer : open menu (for crane and trailers) use "Pack trucks and trailers" If you have enough space, yellow wheel chucks will appear
Also unpacked wooden pallets are heavier then packed for god knows what reason
'Swingshot' around trees by snapping on winch as you approach then swing wide and let momentum continue. Bonus points if done on cliff edge on last tree.
On PC, bind all gear positions to numpad, 4 Lo 8 Hi 2 rev 5 auto etc. Instantly slap gearsets on the fly, no more fumbling the gearstick. When using different lo gears, diff lock stays on.
Using the parking break while in 4wd can assist in tighter turns with some vehicles. Works like a dig kit.
Snowrunner is miles ahead of spintires, and I loved spintires
It can work the other way also
Not sure if I explain it correctly^^
Nice video again
That's a really great tip, I didn't know this was a thing. Jolting into 1st is annoying.
this is exactly what i’ve been saying but some ppl don’t seem to believe me for sum reason
ive been doing this too! when you first start moving in auto mode tap left bumper and you will force the truck to upshift making it much faster (you are able to skip the slower low gears and bump right into 3rd or 4th)
I tried this but nothing happened. Is it only with certain gearboxes/vehicles?
Do you think you could explain more? Im having a hard time understanding completely
The Crane is also great to push youself out of the mud, if there is nothing to attache the winch.
I didn’t even know you could do that!
@@jadenhurd7187 It's a pain in the crane and it takes hours but it is an option.
Yes, there have been a few times when life's autosave was a problem! Thanks for watching.
THisssss. i been using this so long and found out by mistake by RAGE QUITTING after tipping a trailer. hahahaha
Cool video! I wanted to add a couple of tips based on my experience and some insights others shared with me:
Four potentially handy remarks/tips:
1) As in 8:40 I also use that pre-empt winch technique for sharper cornering with trucks like an Azov...
Good tips, cheers for that.
Glad you found it useful and yes that is a good tip I'll use!
One more thing about *20) Master the crane* :
While in "crane mode"...
if you _tap_ on [B] to exit menu -> you will be back in "drive mode"
if you _press_ [B] (i.e keep your finger on it) -> you will be back on "functions menu"
I found it usefull since I often use "restore crane" once my crane job is done.
Good tips! Keep up the good work
Another pro tip - Keep the White Western Star! Fast, fuel efficient, pretty dang cheap. Traversed all of Drummond Island and Island Lake in the thing.
The white Western Star 4694 I think that's the number but that truck has a tendency to roll the f*** over all the time I just like the ANK which by the way I love that military vehicle but it's a shame that rolls over so easily
@@mrjb1445 imo the ankh rolls just as much
Taymyr and the hard dlc maps will eat it alive LMAO
tip: if you stuck on a stump, use a winch on the side of the truck to lift the other side while accelerate/reverse a bit until you get unstuck
Did not know you could winch to another vehicle and it would drive while you drive. Cool!
Tip#26
Even though they don't allude to it anywhere in the game in a tutorial in anyway...
That's some serious cargo hauling potential. Closest thing to a road train.
Great trick, cheers for that :)

Same it's just so fun to be like the local trail runner got himself stuck again and we gotta go bail him out
I like to use diff locks before going to AWD. Sometimes that will be enough and not cost the extra fuel of AWD.
14:17 - keeping it in gear is more fuel efficient, you just wont travel as far due to the engine braking
cool video thanks, just getting into snowrunner
Tip: use the tether winch technique. Before descending a steep slope attach a winch on a nearby tree and ascend the slope slowly while the winch is attached. This will help you not fall down the slope and damage your truck.
if you really need the heavy crane, use the P12. It's the only truck where the heavy crane is put on a lifted base so the legs don't get caught on the terrain.
That's interesting, I shall have a look. Hadn't considered that fact.
Not sure if this is dead obvious but catching back loads from one map to the other can save time on the missions . You just need to look at the load list of other missions that are to come and what resources are on the map to figure if you will need a load from another area allowing you to have the load ready to go when you need it.
I might play this game again. I was getting tired of it. I really enjoy you videos, thanks for the tips!
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Diff lock can be enabled in reverse no need to go into low first
You can actually use the clutch for speed instead of the handbrake.
You can stack a second load on smaller trucks and hold them down with a crane attachment
Oh yes, I've failed missions many times when just about to go over the finish line. Nightmare.
"Who cares about health and safety" 😂😂😂 oh man I was dyyyiinnnggggg.
Nice trick with the crane for extra cargo btw 👌 cheers mate
A little tip for speed demons, when using a truck with a bad turning circle like the Dan when you get to the turning winch to a lamp post on the corner and keep driving you will instantly turn 90 dagrees in a second. Done this so many times it's loads of fun making a 50 ton truck turn like a fly
This is such abuse of the physics system (and trees). I love it!
Great vids, very helpful. My favorite truck so far is the Royal BM17. I just love the way it looks and despite not having a locking differential it just seems to keep going. Really wish I could get a copy for my friend to do co-op with me. Anyway keep up the good content and stay safe.
I've got to pick a winner soon, will do that! Maybe you'll win. Anyway, I also really like the BM17!
7:07 with the size of that intake snorkel, it's good to know the driver will drown before the truck does.

Yes, photo mode didn't exist back when this video arrived. Nice to see it.
well balanced set of snow runner video's informative bit funny and some focus on fun perfect
I'll have 'bit funny' put on my grave.
Me personally I like playing in cab view now imo it’s just a better experience
Hey! Carrying all the shopping at one time is efficient and just makes sense.
It's also a good workout.
@@ATribeCalledCars 😂👍🏻 Indeed it is. I've just bought SnowRunner now, so I'll have to rewatch your tips and tricks videos.
One trick I like to use when trying to haul uphill is winching from the back of the trailer. Feels like an abuse of physics but you're essentially using your winch to push your trailer against your truck to help push it up difficult slopes. Just be careful not to over do it and lift your trailer off the ground
with tip 17 you can actually use the crane to clamp down the cargo and be able to use your winch at the same time
You forgot using the winch to turn rapidly and make sharp turns on uneven surfaces.
Keep it up

while doing that fuel trailer tip and your crashing i was just laughing. loved it
I’ve also got great wheelies out of the kodiak c70 with the lift kit, high saddle, and heavy trailer on with anything heavy that fits just do some little roll backs and it’ll drag frame for days
I was wondering what else can do it, cheers!
I just realized when you unpack cargo the rear end sits back up even while the cargo is still in the back. So unpacking cargo before going through mud might help out with weight reduction, might need to do some testing first.
Good point, worth trying.
This was definitely a thing in Mudrunner, unpacked cargo weighed less than packed.
Very nice. I didn't know about the reversing with diff. lock on :D
The comment highlights at the end is a fun feature.
I shall do it again because I really enjoyed making it, cheers.
Thank You, Your video is both informative and entertaining.
Cheers very much.
Good tip. The old MudRunner camera is being added, it sort of moves to the side and not just rotate. Helps with this a lot.
12:55 omg i didnt know u could even go that fast in this game jebus
You can buy get in the truck with the highest speed rating going downhill
I used the paystar with a large crane to aid in rescuing the white western star at the dam.
Was quite effective and can shave time if you know what you're doing.
That's a good plan, getting that truck up the hill wasn't easy even with a fully upgraded Tayga (but it was satisfying!).
Yea snowrunner usually uses the method of to go fast just go the longer route, pretty stale and badly designed
Nice, good to know. It has been a while since I have looked at these XP/money farming tricks.
With this is possible to do it from level 1 with all North American stuff but I think you would have to sell everything.
I am like most people here, and indeed am pretty happy 😃. Just hit level 12 in the game. Onto the level up grind me thinks
It does seem to really slow down around that rank, I try not to use the method often but I wanted to try out as many trucks as possible!
You're right, unless you need that clearance it seems that extra height and weight makes you way more tippy.
10/10 content right here
You are too kind.
Quality content, keep up the great work!
Cheers, Dan.
The service hub repairs your truck
I agree with the Eurobeat for drifts, I suggest a short compilation video for grins. Fail Race makes some amusing Co-op playthrough videos worth watching. Voice is cool, don't look old though. Overall, keep up the great work!
I enjoy Fail Race, been subscribed for a while. Thanks for the kind words. Compilation sounds like something I might be doing ;)
@@ATribeCalledCars just thought of a recommendation: ruclips.net/video/Dr1S8DfNiKw/видео.html
Good stuff, very enjoyable. Thank you.
Absolutely welcome, many more hopefully useful videos on the channel!
If your tire is blown and you don’t have a spare one, you can use the spare tire from a totally different truck. I have repaired a few trucks with the spare of my Khan.
Nice, hadn't considered this.
You can get an easier to use camera view with the crane by switching to the first person view, it locks the camera behind the crane arm.
Good tip, cheers for that.
Great video. Best snowrunner RUclipsr in my opinion
Cheers Travis, you're too kind.
-I'm not sure if both trucks match the gears and AWD/Diff locks (if you put your truck in low range does it put the rear truck in low as well?)
-Its great for pulling heavy loads through mud
-It's great for transporting two trucks to another map that doesn't have a garage.
Nice post, cheers! I'm not sure if the rear truck engages diff lock if you do, I'm guessing no but I've not tested.
One thing, the low gear acts as a engine limiter, not a low gear sadly so it has less torque as low and low+
In Imandra, did you know, to get out of the ice, instead of getting another truck? I used the loading crane to get out on many occasions. Use it like a paddle to dig and twist the truck out of the ice. I must say, I was surprised to see it work, but it does. Easiest on the lighter trucks.
Good tip. I tried this with a heavier truck and ended up just drawing lines in the ice. But smaller trucks can benefit from it!
I do the same thing. It also works well on rocky swamps
Great tip and also fun so it's win win.
I have a advanced tip is if you're going up a steep hill with heavy cargo and you have it packed then on packet then try and get up the hill
Very good tip, shouldn't work but it seems to.
Awesome video and great tip for the more advanced players..... WAIT MORE WHEELIES BEST VIDEO YET 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Wheelies for life.
Neutral is good for speed downhill when you run out of gears but thats it
Yes, definitely keep including comments at the end… Ya Funny bits, Bolt right in! ]
Don’t tell mum
It's been a while since I've done this, I need to do it again.
No one ever seems to mention this but if your close to tipping over turn into it you’ll level out and can adjust from there
Yes, the power of physics for the win!
