    Idk if hes mentioned it yet, but something i learned (from reddit) while on level 7, and that made my life ALOT easier, is:
    If ur ever on a "hard map" that doesnt have a garage or fuel station, dont worry. You can use the trailer store, buy a fuel trailer, refuel ur truck, and resell it again for no loss!
    Hope this helps!

    Azov! Thanks for the tips! New to the game, and was completely ignoring vehicles I found less-than-optimal, but getting frustrated with lack of cashflow for upgrades as they came. Your 'avoid hoarding, sell vehicles' suggestion helps a TON.

      @FireflyOnYoutube  2 года назад +7

      Thanks & glad to be of help! Yeah that's the thing, most vehicles & upgrades you find in this game are junk unless you want to try them for aesthetic reasons (you are a fan of the vehicle in real life etc.)
      Much, if not most, of the cash you earn comes not as straight cash but in the form of sellable vehicles & upgrades. It's kinda weird but once you learn it the game becomes super easy lol

    Azov! I started playing last week and totally agree with all you said here. I did jump to other maps and used Maprunner to help get a little better big truck to hold off the frustration of the mud - but no mods or cheats. I enjoy completing the missions and clearing the roads as needed. Thanks for the tips!

    Asov! Thank you for the tips. I found myself grinding the XP in the same way you mentioned already; however, I never thought to sell upgrades I wasn’t using and not hoarding trucks. So, you’ve definitely helped my cash! I’m about 30 hours into the game, and your tips will help a ton.

    When you go into a new map your first order of business should be unlocking towers and finding all the trucks and upgrades, and the next thing you should do is clear all the road blocks and build all the bridges. This will make the harder quests much easier to complete

      I recomend going to North Port Alaska and completing the drowned hummer task. Co.pleting it gives your the hummer H2 and it is the best little scout car. It kicks ass and it is more powerful, more durable, more fuel efficient than the chevorlet truck. The hummer is a beast

    AZOV my good trucker friend, cheers from Brazil!
    Your tip about MAINTENANCE FRAME IS PURE GOLD !!!!!! BEST TIP EVER !!!!!!
    Clearly remember losing a lot o time to recover FUEL/REPAIR trailers.
    I have something like 35-40 hrs played , but Sony removed Snowrunner from PSN about a year ago,
    Now im playing it on PC and i totally agree with you mindset about the game.
    Here´s my 2 cents (extremely aligned with your tips)
    1- UNLOCK the map overview with watchtowers;
    2 -FIX the roads/bridges
    3 - GET/FIND the upgades and Trucks
    4 - SIMPLE missions FIRST
    5 - ALL THAT DONE? Go for the complex missions...
    6 - MOVE to other map
    7 - REPEAT what you did 1 to 5 in previous MAPS
    8 - THEN, JUST THEN, start missions that involve multiple maps!!!!

  • @Beencheeling
    @Beencheeling 11 месяцев назад +2

    You know, i just clicked out of curiosity, since i've been playing at my own pace, slowly unlocking the watchtowers then doing the bridges and fixing up the infrastructure and then done the contract missions, as you explore you find new vehicles (like the scout 800 on Michigan), since first off you should ignore the tutorial and in case you got dlcs then go to new game plus and make them buyable instead of being in your garage. that will skip the tutorial too, then go fix up the fleetstar with the utility trailer if you're playing on hard if not then just recall it, start unlocking the nearby towers with the chevvy, stock as it is should do most of them, you don't really need to upgrade your vehicles for black water besides some things here and there like the engageble AWD for the Fleetstar, that helps a TON with getting around. Once you find the Scout 800 you can just sell your old chevvy for some extra cash witch you'll spend getting a crane for that fleetstar, and once you find the GMC, recall it and take that flatbed off because the GMC is not that good and give it to the fleetstar instead, now you can sell or keep that GMC it does not really matter, it's up to you but since you got most watch towers, you should fix up the bridges and clear off the road of obstacles and you're set for black water, you finish it up and just go to the getaway point to unlock the next area. You're going to get quite a bunch of vehicles on Michigan so you shouldn't but things right off the bat so yeah enjoy!

    Nice video. well put together.
    I think you should have added in the trailer section, that leaving vehicles that are discovered, or stuck on the map, might be left on the map. Recovering vehicles too much can drag the game down quickly. Leaving vehicles out on the map can help you to get yourself unstuck or give help, need more fuel, etc. This is usually a lot more useful for self-help. Then when you clear the map, you can recover everything you want, before you leave the map or region.
    A good way to move in seemingly hard areas (MUD/SNOW/BOGS), is to tow another track behind you. This can help push you through slow areas that bog you down so much, it seems you can move anymore. Just turn on the truck you are towing "C" and it can help push you that little bit to get you through and on your merry way.

    Good advices about money. The one thing I would add is that you should try to maximize runs as much as you can. Meaning that don't go from point A to B with a few cargos. Try to combine different mission cargos by towing an extra trailer or hooking a cargo with a crane. While the game wasn't exactly designed to do these kind of crazy tricks, it will definitely help you progressing faster and avoid a few frustrations down the line.

    I done one contract with mod Tatra 815 8x8 but it was too easy and now I am fighting without mods.
    I just wish more addons (no mods) for scouts, especially for the International Loadstar 1700, like a fuel carrier and spear parts on the roof, that would be great

      Yeah, I think it was a bad decision for them to put the T815 as a Yearly Pass truck, considering that those appear automatically & for free in your Truck Storage when you start. T815 is ridiculously strong for a free truck.

    good advice to get you going but if you are like me ang get bored/want more of a challenge then try New Game+ and set the rules so you don't get back all of your money when selling trucks, have to pay for fuel. no recovery to garage etc then you'll really have to manage your game differently, for example i had to spend 48k to fill up a couple of fuel trucks just in preparation for the upcoming jobs, scavenging fuel from vehicles before you sell them, keeping the engine off on winched vehicles to save its fuel etc all adds to the challenge

    Azov! Solid Tips/Tricks video.
    However, i have a very serious question/dilemma to pose to you; What advice would you give to someone who _right-out-of-the-gate_ downloaded a bunch of really OP mods like the the MAXX Trucks Pack, MAXX Scouts Pack, GGMS Free Money Trucks, etc, etc years ago when the game first came out. They then went to play the hell out the game, 100% every single map in every region (that they had at the time), bought all the DLC(even in advance, ahead of time), but then ran out of steam sometime shortly after beating all of Michigan/Alaska/Tamyr/Kola/Amur and stopped playing the game for 3 years, despite still buying all the DLC.
    Now, let's say this "hypothetical" person has come back to Snowrunner, and they still love the game, and they have all these new regions to play through, but they actually want to be challenged by the game, but find that loading straight into hard mode with no mods is just _waaaayyyyy_ to fuckin' much? And also, what if this person has a legitimately crippling addiction to over-modding the holy hell out of every game they own, to the point where they have 3.5x the filesize of Snowrunner atrtached to the game in mods, and they just can't stop, because this is what they do with every game? Like playing Rimworld (~6GB filesize total) with 64GB of mods attached to it?
    TL;DR: Help! What do i do to both satiate my uncontrollable lust for more trucks and more mods and more addons for trucks, while also providing some challenge so the game isn't basically playing it's self? Any tips for a proper NG+ setup that would help with this? Where i could earn a shit-ton of cash very quickly so i can fill the parking lot of every garage with a couple dozen vehicles to play with, but also still have some challenge left in the game?
    _TL:DR:TL;DR:_ *How the hell* do you teach your 30 year old *mod-addicted* brain ( at least _some_ ) self control and just play the god damn game the _way it's meant_ to be played?

    • @FireflyOnYoutube

      Yes: Pretend they don't exist, then try to make the most of the starting cash you otherwise would. Also don't jump to Russia to by the Azov 6 or Vorons either because if your problem is "lack of constraint" then you basically just reintroduced that problem.
      I say start with the Scout 800 & Fleetstar. They are the best trucks at the start that aren't missing critical parts you need to find (namely AWD & Diff Lock)
      Replace the Scout 800 with the Chevy CK1500 once you've found the Diff Lock & Snowrunner Gearbox, and add the Paystar 5070 to your fleet when you have enough cash.
      You can also experiment with the Pacific P12 & P16 for heavy loads, but their usefulness is limited due to weighing way too much and not having a much bigger engine to handle that weight.
      The White Western Star is probably the best truck that will come out of Michigan, and compared to the rest of your fleet at this point, it's likely to outlast them moving forward. You will want to have AWD & Diff before you try to do anything serious with it though.
      With this fleet, by the end of Michigan you would have learned quite a lot that you wouldn't have if you used other trucks that were introduced later in the game.

      I might be a little late but you can retain the trucks, then you don’t have to even see them and can just pretend they don’t exist until you go somewhere else

      If it is still viable for you. Money mods can also remove money. Just sell the dlc Trucks. Cheat your money back to selling what you didnt want and then save and deactivate the moneymod

    Азов my friend! I found this video very helpful! I have one question regarding selling trucks: what happens to all the modules when you sell an upgraded truck? Do they *all* get sold with the truck (equipped or not,) or do they *all* get dismounted and retained, or do just the ones equipped get sold? My thought is that, depending on how it works, there might be unequipped modules that can't be sold if you don't have the truck, especially for items that are specific to one vehicle. So then, do we have to go through the trouble of downgrading a vehicle to the baseline, selling all of the modules, and then finally selling the truck to make sure everything is gone?

      I covered this in the video, but I guess it might have been confusing lol. When you sell a truck, all the EQUIPPED parts will get sold, regardless of whether they were stock or were purchased & put on by you.
      And yes, it is possible to get into a situation where you must buy back a truck to sell an item, because that item is exclusive to the truck and therefore only accessible from that truck's customization menu. It is troublesome, but it still won't cost you anything else other than the time to press a bunch of buttons.

      @@FireflyOnRUclips Hi, and thanks for the reply! I got the basic "sell everything" premise from the video, but I wasn't sure about the minutiae of the inventory system. Regarding the "loose modules" thing, the more I think about it I can kind of answer that myself: since you get copies of the modules when you discover upgrades in the world, there *definitely* are unsold/unsellable components in each player's inventory that you don't necessarily know about if you don't have the relevant vehicles because we can't see the inventory outright.
      And regarding selling the whole vehicles, I couldn't tell if upgraded modules were unequipped when the base vehicle was being sold, since the only way I could see those modules would be with another truck that has access to them. It's nice to clear up how the game works, but it would be even nicer if the game would just auto-sell everything not equipped, since there's no reason for it not to work that way when buy & sell prices are equal!

    Azov brother! Just starting out. Michigan 3/4 maps 50% cleared. Alaska 3/4 maps 15% cleared.

    Wow, I wish I watched this video when I first started.
    Lots of great advice here, but I don't understand the need to go through the maps in order. The tutorial forces you to go to Alaska. There's a lot of low hanging fruit there. Might as well pick some before going back to Michigan.

    Maybe they only added this to hard mode but dident they change it so that when your selling a truck your only getting about 80% of its purchase price?
    Or maybe this video was made before that change.

    Great video indeed as a beginner myself this thing of you can sell for the price of buy is a huge thing since you can beta test whatever you like.

      "beta test" is a great way to put it lol. It's almost funny that the moment you learn to sell all junk you instantly go from being broke to rich AF

    Yeah, great video to learn how to make the grind a bit easier... I actually found out about the selling of trucks/trailers/oarts by accident. But it's kinda cool.
    I'm not much for using mods, especially overpowered mods. The only mods i really use that are OP is the recovery vehicles, ie the IX3880 Heavy Rotator, and the IX light wrecker. I find it more fun and realistic to go fetch a wrecked or disabled vehicle with an actual recovery vehicle.
    I also like to use the "realistic mud and vehicle weight" mod. It balences out the vehicles in my opinion. OP vehicles become a little less powerful, and "vanilla" vehicles become a bit more capable... at least from my experience... so far...

    I'm 20 hrs in and I havet even finished the first area of the first map. The game is so hard and I even modded my save file to level 6 so I could buy decent tires. If I hadn't modded to level 6, I don't think I would have gotten anything done at all yet, the map is just too impassable until you rebuild some bridges

    i've put in a couple hours just in the past two days because it's such a cool concept and execution for a game, but i think i have finished no tasks because none of the starting trucks can handle them, as far as i can tell.
    i guess i expected this to be a little more of a sandbox in a sense that i can tackle any challenge with what i've got, even if the going will be slow. However what i am finding is that i can't do anything with the starting trucks outside of exploration, and have no idea what truck will be needed for any given job.

    • @FireflyOnYoutube
      @FireflyOnYoutube  Год назад +1

      The beginning is quite tough and the game refuses to explicitly tell you how to do everything, but the difficulty eases quickly as you unlock better tires and pass the "trail by fire" 😆 Also get used to scouting with trucks that have Autonomous Winch and avoid starting things when the map is still dark (and enjoy the view meanwhile :) ). You can skip that step later when you become more proficient but it certainly helped me learn.

    Is the selling of stuff and rebuying at no loss still hold up? I ask bc i heard a youtuber say this was patched out and now we have to lose 10% on truck sales. Can you clarify?
