    Here is a tip, they're the best part. You can attach a winch and connect two vehicle then pull the other one to where you are going. For instance, I will attach a scout and pull it with a heavy to get to where I'm going, if I need a second truck. You can even pull a scout to another map without a garage, that way you don't have to drive both vehicles. A ramped flatbed works for towing too, but you might not always have access to one. You always have a winch.

    One thing to add is that sometimes having weight on your truck can help it chew through mud and also helps the tuck stay planted while crossing rough streams. Driving with nothing in the bed of the truck will for sure make it more difficult to traverse deep mud and water. This does not work with trailers because you are dragging dead weight and the less dead weight the better. Loaded truck bed= better mudding results. The axles need that weight to force it down to the bottom of the mud and grab dry ground increasing traction.

  • @leodriscoll2929

    Couple things to add, if pulling a trailer and you get stuck and are trees and stuff are beside you and not ahead, the trailer will also have winch points and you can attach the rear winch point on trailer to the trees beside the truck (witch means they are ahead of the trailer) to then winch the whole truck and trailer forward. Also when putting a bed on a truck, you might consider using the flat bed over the box bed, as it carries the same as the box, and will fit loads of pipe that will not fit on the box trailer.

    You should also look around the map for trailers with cargo on them. Most of the trailers do have cargo which is required for a task or mission nearby, so you only need to pull the trailer a few hundred metres instead of delivering cargo from the warehouse all across the map. On Smithville Dam, service spare parts for the Quarry sit on a trailer just a little further up the road and lumber for the farm sits on a semi trailer just north of it.

      J DuB bingo, that’s what I’ve been doing. Also when I do a task or objective and complete it, I’ll take supplies back with me for the heck of it if the garage isn’t terribly far or difficult. *Here's an essential trick that carries over from the older Spintires games:* Constantly steer lock to lock (left to right, vice versa) when you're going through mud and water. It'll get you through faster, helps prevent you from getting stuck, or even get you unstuck if you can't winch or pull the truck out. It's extremely useful and I do it all the time. SD1ONE has a helpful video on it.

      actually, dont do that if you arent sinking or you will only cause yourself to dig in.

    In Smithville dam there is a service area right near the entrance where you can get service parts to bring back rather than bringing them all the way across the map from the warehouse. Wish I discovered that much earlier

  • @bloodwolfgaming9269
    @bloodwolfgaming9269 3 года назад +2

    To build off of Tip 13 with using a crane. If you have a crane on your vehicle, you can choose to manually load your own cargo instead of it being "auto-loaded" If you manually load your own cargo, I believe you gain a bit of bonus when you complete that task. Also, when you manually load your own cargo, make sure to "Pack Cargo". If you don't pack the cargo after you've loaded it, then your trailer/truck doesn't actually register has carrying cargo...despite you seeing cargo onboard.
    Also, if you detach from a trailer to recall your vehicle to your garage, make sure the cargo is packed. Otherwise, when you recall your vehicle and the map refreshes, it will force your cargo to clip through the trailer and get stuck underneath it. And if you arrive at a location with the proper cargo and the game doesn't want to register it, leave the "delivery area" and then unpack and repack your cargo. This should then reregister the fact your truck does have the proper cargo and you should then be able to complete the delivery.
    I've seen people actually give very bad reviews and claim the game is broken/bugged because something happened during their traveling and it caused their cargo to become unsecured and they forgot to repack the cargo (Even going as far as to attack the people in the comments who tried to explain it to them that it wasn't a bug and they just screwed it up themselves.)

    When you press Y it's not a random object it's the nearest to your centered point of screen, fps view helps with this, to pick objects behind objects look up some.
    A crane is handy to get you unstuck like high center or to adjust the weight to help you get out or to point straight down to lift your vehicle.
    If you find a trailer that won't refill fuel. It's most likely used in a mission youre unaware of.
    Tires and size make a difference but chains are best in snow/ice only mud are best in mud and dirt
    Always always retain ALL trucks before you change maps
    If you're stuck and you have a tree in front of you only, you've pulled yourself to it but stuck still... All good. Winch from the rear opposite side of tree and pull past it
    Steer left and right to WALK a stuck vehicle while management of tire spin...

    • @AceCrasher24
      @AceCrasher24 4 года назад +2

      1 counter point to always think about with cranes, the added weight can and will affect your vehicles power and com. a crane should only be taken when you think you may need it.
      if you are worried about tipping over or something, attach the rising side of your vehicle to something to prevent a roll, you dont need to pull towards it, just keep driving normally. if you cant get the sides or the back/front is slipping more, attach the furthest point from the weakest stability, if the back is slipping and you connect the front, you will swing around and stay upright.

    Id also like to add a tip. When doing a cargo transport contract, if the drop off location has other pickups look at other available contracts that you can pick up along the way instead of dropping stuff off then going back to the garage or something and then having to go back halfway across the map to get supplies so try not to recall back to the garage if possible. I tend to take a flat bed on the truck then pull the 4 points ramp trailer and maybe tow another behind that giving 10 spaces for supplies. Its extremely heavy but can be easy with proper navigation and steady driving, if i plan on taking a supplies trailer back to sell ill pick up things on my way and then offload them at the garage and then load them when needed.

      It depends on the cargo and it’s just learning what takes how many slots. A flatbed will take 2 single pieces of cargo or 1 metal plank for example as it has 2 slots and a flatbed semi-trailer will take 5 single pieces of cargo or 2 metal planks and 1 wooden plank for example as they have 5 slots. If you go to the trailer store it will tell you underneath each trailer what they’re capable of carrying 👍

    What i like about snow runner is a highway truck is still useful. the GMC truck can power through the icy mud in alaska with just highway tires. i tested The GMC truck with an attached heavy crane and highway tires. was able to traverse most areas and was easily able to avoid the obviously bad spots. you guzzle gas like mad though.

    When wrenching, if your stuck which from your body instead of front to get those extra few feet of ground cover (how I got the heavy truck out the swamp on michigan ( I whiched to the tree from front but wasnt able to activate so I winched back and used my back to pull me forward and past the tree
    Domt be afraid to use your other which points other than the obvious
    And another tip if you start sinking in mud switch to a low gear and if possible engage diff lock
    I like running my scout in the snowrunner gearbox and use low 3 for swamps and high 1 for minor mud

    Having to accept the tasks each time is a real pain. I've driven through and read almost every task in the starting map but never 'started' them, now I have done all my scouting and a few road unblocks, I have to go over and start each mission individually again, that's a real pain. What I do now is use my scout truck to drive to the start mission area, then quick spawn back to my mission truck or garage to actually do the mission.

      dis it happen in the garage? if you have a vehicle that you havent purchased, (one of the ones you found on the map by ubnlocking) if you have that vehicle in the garage and then "recover" another vehicle which you purchased to the garage, it will vaporize that cehicle you got for free.. but you can always purchase it from the store, not that expensive... Also, if you travel to another map via a tunnel, and you arem towing a trailer with your winch and dont have it hitched to the trailer, you will lose the trailer and everything on it... But that sucks man, i havent experiencd one bug yet.. seems reallyrandom. .What platform are you playing on? Im on pc.

    Tip #22: Low range works well with diff lock on because it seems to automatically limit wheelspin, but without diff lock on it will reduce power to almost nothing if there is a wheel without traction

    • @razorblade7108
      @razorblade7108 4 года назад

      Even with full traction it seems to reduce power. I tried it a few times going up a steep hill. Gear 1 in automatic has a lot more power than Low gear, which makes no sense since Low gear should actually be a lower gear with more torque and same power. Power shouldn't change because of gearing. Low gear is only useful if you have a truck which can only engage diff lock in low gear. A truck with permanent diff lock pulls through mud quicker in gear 1 with more power.

    • @BrokeWrench
      @BrokeWrench 4 года назад

      @@razorblade7108 if diff lock is always on low it's pointless, but it doesn't have less power just slower wheelspin. That's a big reason never to use low without diff lock on

    • @razorblade7108
      @razorblade7108 4 года назад

      @@BrokeWrench It has less power, otherwise it would pull you up hills better than gear 1. If torque was the same, power would still be lower because of slower speed, but actually both speed and torque are lower.

    • @razorblade7108
      @razorblade7108 4 года назад

      @@BrokeWrench I actually think what they did with the Low gears is the same as the three speed settings in Mudrunner which helped people without a steering wheel and pedals to control throttle better. So Low gear is actually first gear with lower throttle and thus less power.

  • @ricksgamemisc10

    Started playing last night and only had about an hour and a half. So still doing tutorials. But as to flipping/stalling and winches ... I of course flipped my starter pickup on its side at one point and stalled. But I simply tapped R2 (I think) and the engine restarted and I was able to winch myself back on my wheels. It did surprise me, because from videos such as these I expected flip/stall = reset. Maybe it was just tutorial, or maybe it was some specific circumstances, but thought I'd mention it.

    Advise never drop (detach) a semi trailer with landing gear on soft and in-level surfaces, always find a hard tarmac road where possible if dropping a trailer otherwise when you come back to attach the landing gear will have sunk into the ground making it extremely difficult to reattach later on especially if the trailer in question is loaded, a low saddle might work but trailers can drop lower than that, be careful with that folks.

    You can switch the time of the day at any given moment and you should do so while recording a youtube video ;) also you can and maybe should always drive 2 vehicles at a time by winching them together. If you do so the vehicle on the back syncronizes the throttle, brakes and steering with the one on the front! 2 engines are better than 1 in most chases :)

    I just got this game for PC and it looks great and would be more fun to play if you could rebind ALL the keys to your own setup. Right now you can rebind only 7 keys. And using the WASD keys to drive is unnatural.
    I find most of the tasks and contracts impossible to complete because I don't earn enough money to upgrade my vehicles so I end up getting stuck and running out of gas especially scouting around looking for lookout towers.
    Update: I have a Redragon DITI Mechanical One Handed Gaming Keyboard with OUTEMU Brown Switches. The only 2 keys that you can't rebind in the game that I need are L (Headlights) and M (Map). With the Redragon I can bind the N and P keys on the keyboard as the L and M keys.
