  • The Lectric XP is a 28mph eBike with a 500W motor and a 25-50 mile range, and 20x4.0 fat tires. The bike is equipped with an LG 48v 10.4ah battery and a 1.7 Prowheel and Shimano drivetrain. The bicycle has a folding design, aluminum fenders (on production model) and a metal rear rack with a 55lb load capacity.
    Lectric eBikes sent me a Prototype model to review. They also provided a coupon code for KevCentral viewers that gets a free Waterproof Pannier Bag with the purchase of an XP. XP is short for Experience.

    The fact that this comes standard with fenders and a bike rack all for under a grand makes this *my* number one choice. Damn that pre-production wait.

      So how about now (2022 March/April) is it possible to get a good deal on one of these and still get a decent powered motor or are there a lot more restrictions on the power output? I read in a lot of places that they are limited to 15mph (which just won't do for me) I had an electric scooter with a 5000w motor that could overtake cars on the road and hit 58mph but it was 5 hours to get a full charge and I had to avoid police on every trip incase they tried to pull me over and take it off me (never would've happened) but I'm 39 I'm too old to be blowing police chases around my neighbourhood so I'm after a bicycle that has a fat battery and can get a good 20 mile trip at decent enough speed (25-35mph will do tbh). So...is that possible to get or am I asking a bit too much here guys?

    Its gasless, affordable, convenient, can be stored in a closet in a house, if necessary, unlike a heavy , gas/motor scooter, and no significant maintenance issues, that you need with gas required motors.
    I'm convinced, this could come in handy for many situations. Not just recreational.

    Lectric XP, just ordered mine for the September batch. They have done a wonderful job getting their message out through really great reviewers like you and several more. I was at a great bike shop and warned about issues with rear hubs and changing tires being a problem. After reviewing a few youtube videos I don't see it being much more of a problem than on any of my past (non-E) multi-geared bikes. Thanks for the review and looking forward to riding again on the tired old knees that saw too many miles distance running.

      It’s a little tough getting the rear wheel back on this one because the rear frame flexes inward when the wheel is out. It’s a tough fit, but doable.

    First decent review of one of these bikes in my opinion and I was happy to watch this as it was informative and useful aswel as easy to watch and wasn't boring like the majority of them on this kind of bike. So thanks for the help bro it was a great help and I got what I needed from the information you gave. I don't often get to say this as it is a rare thing to see a video that gives you the best bits and is straight forward without the bullshit, so, genuinely, cheers brother. I subbed and will definitely have another look at your channel and use what you have shown me here to get me a new bike with all this in mind. Nice one mate 👍🏼.

    Today I got to test ride a Lectric XP. I was met by Robby, nice young guy, knowledgeable about the bike, who answered all my questions and let me take it out for a ride.
    First of all the seat tilt wasn't perfect for me (yes, you can adjust it :), and the tires had too much air in them for street riding. I think lowering the tires to @20psi (or maybe even 15) would make a better ride on rough streets. That said, at 6'2", I was able to sit upright no problem.
    The motor has both speed and power! Very impressive! It sounded rather loud to me, but my current bike has a front motor, which is a bit farther away, so I wasn't used to it being right behind me. It is quite a bit more powerful and faster than my current 36v 500w motor. I never even got it into PAS level 5; at level 4 it easily got me up to 25 mph, so I have no doubt it could have hit 28mph in level 5.
    The disc brakes worked perfectly! My current bike has rim brakes, and I will never buy another bike without disc brakes. They really stop well!
    The rack can take foldable baskets on either side. I use them now, and they are well worth it.
    I'm used to the feet forward design on my current bike, and none of the bikes like this have it. If you're used to a regular bike, this wouldn't bother you at all. It would take a little getting used to for me.
    Having seen and ridden the XP, the $899 price really is a no-brainer, if you're in the market for a bike like this. Comparable bikes sell for hundreds more, and the XP has the same quality components they do. I haven't decided yet whether I will buy one, but in my case it's about personal finances, not the bike - it's definitely worth the money.
    Also, Robby tells me that if you preorder one now, you will get the finished production version. That's what I rode today :)

      @@FloridaEbikes I agreed.
      I the my research (thanks to Kev) and basically if you're new to MTB and you don't have a ton of parts why buy a big bucks bike? By a budget bike upgrade it get use to the maintenance and then after you master it then buy a big bucks MTB frame for $400-200 then add your components that you bought for the Budget mountain bike.
      I seen 2000 bike that still need adequate parts before it hit the trail the geometry of the factory MTB might be a factor and the Rider might hate it. building your own Ensure comfort and make you feel like a mad scientist!!.

    Nice. I have a folding fat tire ebike from another company with similar specs (minus the built in headlights, rack, and a LED instead of a LCD, but it's also ~100 bucks cheaper before additional discounts), and you are right about the cute pinchable tires. Love it, it's like riding on a tiny cloud until there's cobblestone or epic potholes. The smaller wheels and geared hub motor means it's torquey enough to get up northwestern hills on my commute home. The speed is good enough to tackle a lot of bicycle-car situations even a slower Lime ebike made nerve wracking. Glad you're enjoying these new types of bikes, and great video!

If your health insurance doesn't cover you for a accident injury, you have to have coverage on your car insurance for that and I guess that's why it's so high. Plus uninsured motorists is a huge fee that we are paying. In 2010, I was paying $250 every 6 months and $500 a year. It's getting ridiculous. I don't like the sound of riding on a snowy day but I am going to try it out this next winter. I am planning on picking up a mongoose fatbike to ride when I don't want to ride my ebike fatbike because of possible battery damage during the colder days and possible water damage. I am sure nothing would happen but I would rather go slower in the snow anyways.

    • @Spanky8402
      @Spanky8402 5 лет назад +8

      @@stevenleek1254 that's not true in some cases. Some people can't afford car insurance and they still need to get to work and they drive without car insurance. A old friend of mine lost his license for that reason and he has to walk or ride his bike now. I can barely pay my car insurance and I have a clean record but I am seriously thinking about selling my vehicle one day and just ride a ebike but I wouldn't be losing my license though, I would just be choosing to not to pay huge fees to a company that doesn't care. I am waiting to see what happens though because a new bill that just got passed here in Michigan is supposed to drop insurance costs by about $1000-$1500 a year per driver. I would probably be paying only $250 every 6 months and that's what I used to pay but I am paying $1000 every 6 months for no Liability insurance right now. I don't have that kind of money and I have to budget right now on everything and I am sick of it. I hope either insurance goes down or I am just going to ride a bike and sell my vehicle. It's not what I want to do but I don't make enough to make someone else rich. I have no accidents and no tickets on my record, it's ridiculous and I can see why some people lose driving privileges but is someone is a reckless driver, they shouldn't be on anything, like you said. I have seen many people lose they're lives because I used to be a over the road semi driver and sometimes a bike or someone walking doesn't look and cause a car to swerve into another car and someone dies and that's wrong. Those people need to stay away from the public and seek help. That's probably how you think as well.

    I have a love/hate relationship with e-bikes. I love that they get timid people, older folks, long distance commuters, and lazy people out and into a form of cycling. I hate that they’re essentially electric mopeds with a human hybrid engine. Again people are out, not in cars, enjoying riding but I feel like it cheapens some of the magic. Speaking of cheap they never are. And if they are cheap then you’ve got a lithium ticking time bomb.

    • @KevCentral

      Any bikes you see here aren’t given a good review because they sent the bike. I make that plainly clear to every mfg when they inquire. If I don’t like it or it has issues, I’ll tell it like it is. Some don’t accept those terms or only want a paid review - which I don’t do - and that’s why their bikes aren’t on KevCentral. As far as this bike goes it’s really that fun, and IMO (I’m up to 3 eBikes now) and the opinion of others that I’ve let ride it, it is a bike above its price point. The local bike shop even kindly asked me to not park it out front one day because they had someone coming to look at an eBike they carry. They knew the XP would be too enticing and they would likely lose the sale.

    • @bFlattheOriginal
      @bFlattheOriginal 5 лет назад +3

      @Hojung Kim I live nearby their warehouse and I tried out the XP (I left a mini review here in the comments). It would be a good choice for your first ebike. If I didn't already have one that I built from a kit, I would have already bought an XP.

    • @bFlattheOriginal
      @bFlattheOriginal 5 лет назад +1

      @Jeff Foster I hear you. I just happen to live 4 miles from their warehouse. I took a test ride on the XP. Look here in comments. I only discovered the bike from Kev's video a week or so ago. I was thrilled to learn they were closer to me than most bike shops. I found a video by Jax Austin here on YT a couple of days after I rode it and you can see exactly where I tested it. The blonde man is Robby whom I met.

    • @bFlattheOriginal
      @bFlattheOriginal 5 лет назад +2

      @Jeff Foster The one point you make about people reviewing the first ebike they've ridden is absolutely valid. Most of the reviews on most bike sites are from people reviewing the first ebike they have bought, and virtually all of them will put a smile on your face the first time you ride one. I like the people that review a bike several months down the road, once they've at least had time to find out things they may _not_ like about the bike. Since many people aren't near a bike shop to try several different brands, you often have to just pick one and hope you like it. That's why I added a kit to a bike I already knew I liked, and I still went through 2 kits to find the one I wanted to keep.

    I was gonna pull the trigger and order one for a ship date some time in August(6-8 weeks to ship). Asked if the credit card gets billed at the time of shipping or when they get the order. They replied "When they get the order" I dont feel comfortable with that arrangement for a bike that is in prototype mode only. The time to protest the charge on my credit card would expire before it would even be scheduled to ship.

    Watched a video with Fate Abound and their review of the bike. We our Airstream heavily and carried mountain bikes on the tow vehicle front bumper. Pulled the trigger on a black and a white version, one for each of us. Arrived in early July, have been riding them every day since. I don't seem to miss the lack of suspension at all even though my mountain bike is a full suspension one. We have ridden them on all types of terrain and up and down mountain trails. I am amazed!! No lack of torque or speed, almost too fast in some cases, but I am learning to cope with the power. The big fat tires smooth the ride and allow for a pretty smooth ride. They fold up great and are now carried in the back of our contractor shell on our tow vehicle (3500 Ram). Weight hasn't been a concern as they don't really seem to be almost 60 pounds. Great little bike, incredible range and unreal price!
