Traveling has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember.
There are many aspects of filmmaking but cinematography is one of the more obvious and arguably the most important when it comes to travel videos.
I always tried to pay attention to the way I capture images and travel videos is what got people to notice me in the first place years ago.
So in this video I want to share some insights and tips on how I go about travelling and filming at the same time. I will talk about the gear I use, planning, how to quickly frame shots, energy and pace and everything I do to create those videos.
Hopefully this is helpful to you guys.
Let me know if you have any questions :).

you know you can put table of contents in your description now?
"Just because the internet is full of fast-paced transition videos, doesn't mean you have to." Amen.
Haha thanks man !!
Spot on
Instagram is full of this
Yes and I think there will come a countermovement, I'm sick of it aswell
"Don't make the trip about the content", "Don't forget to look". These are some very solid tips that many need to hear. Most of the videos that inspire me the most have been shot by people who are travellers first, and content creators second, usually on cameras people will scoff at. Story is king and if you don't have a story to say, then you're not saying anything.
Story is definitely king !! Glad you've enjoyed the video man. Thanks :)
How can even your "BTS" video be so calming and magical? Damn! Thank you!
Haha glad you like it :). Thanks for watching !!
This was not only highly informative, it was also a true piece of art
Thanks so much !!
I'm years late to the party but this vid is too spot on not to comment. So many creators throw around the word cinematic to talk about gear, settings, and post-production techniques. Using all the same stuff as Hollywood blockbusters doesn't make their glorified tourism and lifestyle commercials cinematic. Only an impactful story can make content cinematic.
Thanks for so much for taking the time to watch it :)
This is genuinely one of my fav videos on youtube. So much inspiration.
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic content, this is a proper travel video. No speed ramping, no uneven pacing.... just smooth.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :) !!
Out of all the filmmaking channels on RUclips I have to say that this is one of my favourites. I respect so much about how you shoot, taking the time, looking with your eyes, being still and quiet. I think we're so caught up as content creators to engage the audience in quick, fast paced and easily digest-able videos, that we forget to slow down and really look at what is around us.
Thank you so much man!! It's hard sometimes for content like this on RUclips but trying my best to be authentic and genuine :). Your comment means a lot!!
Really makes me want to travel again 😘 xx
Can’t wait to explore new places again 😍 !! xx
I’m a photographer and a film graduate. My style of work have always been calm and slow. I was never a fan of fast transitions and crazy amount of camera moments and sounds. Being a introvert and having quiet personality I use to observe everything around me from sounds to visuals and human behaviours and i loved everything about the life.
I stopped working just because i thought no one would like it as everything is fast nowadays, even the youtube is crazy.
After looking at your work, it gave me motivation to start again with my own style and pursue my passion. You're doing great and thank you for this simple yet to the point video. Amazing work 🙏🏻
Thank you so much and so happy to read this, happy shooting :) !!
Whoa, I feel like this is the most important travel how-to video on RUclips
Thank you so much for the positive feedback !!
Great content nice!👍
Thanks !!
LOVE this. Just like everything you produce. thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words :) !!
Brilliant! Always a pleasure travelling vicariously through you!
Thank you for stopping by :) !!
I never comment on anything but I felt I had to for this. This is one of those videos that I will think about for many years to come. The choice of footage, simple but effective supers, tone and delivery worked seamlessly. I work as a film producer and often just get so consumed by the high intensity of shoot days and timelines. Even though commercial and personal travel content capture is quite different, your points about just taking a step back and looking outside of the viewfinder are applicable in many areas of life. Basically free therapy. Keep up the good work :)
I feel so incredibly lucky to have found your channel today. It's excessively difficult to find such truly meaningful content in this fast-paced transitions world.
Thank you so much, means a lot :) !!
@@OfTwoLands Thank you. I've already binged through half your channel. Never stop posting!
now that is a nice pace video that lets people see the place your visiting without a rush
Underrated channel with great content. Your style is soothing and organic, thank you for taking the time to share these in depth tips.
Thanks so much man, means a lot :) !!
Thank you for these really thoughtful minutes.
Thanks so much for watching !!
I keep coming back to this video. Down to earth, and really speaks to me.
mndoci So glad you like it, thank you !!
Piece of art, thank you
Thanks for watching :) !!
Outstanding advice. Good luck to you.
Thanks for watching :) !!
great stuff mate! This, I can tell , (like all your work...), comes from the heart.
Love your content man. It’s so good. It’s travel content without all the fake-personality/flashy transition BS. Keep it up!!
Thanks for the support man, appreciate it !!
Great tips! I definitely enjoy slower paced video
Thanks !! And yes, me too :)
Thanks for sharing this with us) You are on my top 3 favorite RUclipsrs, please continue what you doing!) Thanks!)
Thank you so much for saying this, it means a lot :) !!
This is by far the best video about travel filmmaking I've seen... very single point you made strikes a chord in my heart...Love it!
Everything about the video is absolutely amazing my friend. I have just started to get into cinematography (coming from strictly photography, mostly street shooting) and have a Sony A7R III as my first full frame camera. This video is so awe inspiring and makes me emotional. I am going on my first travel trip to the rocky mountains to shoot my first travel video and cannot wait for the experience! I am shocked that you do not have more views or subscribers! I hope you continue your journey with travel Cinematography my friend. and I wish you and your wife great success! Thank you so much for this video once again! May the gods bless you and your wife!
Thank you so much for this positive and kind feedback, it means a lot !! :)
This was absolutely awesome! Thank you so much! And your work is superb! Love it!
Thank you so much for the nice feedback, really appreciate it :) !!
extremely helpful video! I am going on a backpacking trip in Europe this summer and am learning as much about travel cinematography before as I can- this taught me a lot and got me even more excited. I also really like how you talked about the importance of living in the moment and appreciating the new places in addition to capturing them.
So glad to know that you found this helpful !! Happy shooting and travelling :)
Just brilliant !!!
Thank you :) !!
thank you for sharing. I love what you said and I find it is true. Sometimes I was busy looking for a shot, how to make it cinematic, I forget to look, I forget to enjoy the moment. THank you for reminding me
Just stunning - love your style
Thanks so much!!
Such honest words and beautiful narrative
Thank you so much ☺️
Love the way you have described everything. Really inspiring.
Glad you've enjoyed it :) !!
So good, thank you!!!
Thanks for watching :) !!
Such a good video, story, and a lot of good value. Love the cinematic shots you to, and the light was always on top! Keep it up the amazing work you do
This is such a breath of fresh air out of all the travel video content in youtube...
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :) !!
@@OfTwoLands Thank you for putting such nice content. I have been in photography for quite a while but I just started the video shooting. It is a bit confusing for me at the moment because the light changes all the time in a single take and I am not sure if I am supposed to change the aperture and ISO all the time to keep the exposure balanced. I cannot find a good tutorial about simple video shooting principles. A lot of people say it is ok to use auto ISO function to compensate for changing the amount of light, some other people advocate that everything has to be manual at all times. Do you have a preference? Apologies for the long question but I wanted to express my problem clearly.
Great video! I don't think I have ever learned such valuable information while being so calm at the same time. Out of this world. Thank you for making it.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Beautiful video packed full of loads of useful info, thanks!

Thanks so much and no worries !! So glad to hear this :)
Beautiful video on so many levels. Thank you for sharing your insights
Thanks for watching !! :)
Concise and reasonable.
Some of your points are unpopular, but that's what we call personal choice. And when you managed to master that personal choice, people even may call it as your "signature style".
Greatly enjoying and learning a lot from this. Thank you.
☺️🙏
As usual, stunning stuff man. Enjoyed every second of it!
Thanks man, glad you did 👊 !!

I'm glad I found your channel!!
Thanks so much and glad to know !! Happy filming :)
Love it
I’m about to travel for a couple years and appreciate the packing tips/ pics and over all suggestions.
In the end, we are just observers haha
This video was worth it. I have learnt several things from it. "Being present in the moment and appreciating what is before your eye. Memories are important, first when absorbed my your soul before they can be documented on camera." keep up with the good job
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback :)
Thank you for giving all these valuable advice to improve videos and thank you for making this video. Your work looks great and very peaceful. Best wishes.

So happy to have found your channel guys!! Stunning content and even more incredible message about travel. Lots of love from San Francisco 💛✨
Thank you so much for the kind words :) !!
I’m a new creator and love your tips. Also awed by the beauty of your shots and i enjoy the pace as well.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback :)
This is interesting and beautiful to watch.
I love stories✅
Thank you :)
What a channel! Inspiring video. Thank you 🙌
Thanks for the nice feedback!!
This is a best example of travel video I have saw.
I will keep practicing filming till I get these skills.
I subbed and give you a like.
Thank for sharing the knowledge.
Thank you so much for the support !!
Wonderful tips. My partner is typically exploring the landscape while I capture the perfect shot. In many ways she is experiencing the location more than I am. Point taken! Thank you.
Thank you for the taking the time to watch it :)
Watching 3rd time... Nice n calm video with straight content... :)
Thanks a lot :) !!
This was such a great video. Thank you for the tips. I actually recently got the lumix 12-35 based on your videos/reviews. such a great lens.
Thank you, glad I could help :) !!
Definitely one of the best and more "compact" videos I've ever seen here on RUclips about this topic. Already suscribed to the channel! Not sure HOW I didn't know about you and your content time ago, it's awesome!
Cheers from Argentina!
Thanks a lot for the kind feedback :) !!
@@OfTwoLands Super refreshing in this era of 16 transitions per second and empty meaning content 🙏🏻 glad to find you!
Extremely well done!
Thanks so much!!
wise words and beautiful imagery!
Thank you John !!
Beautiful places!
Indeed :)
Very nice video, lovely with nice pacing, music and imagery. I agree, less is more. I have to force myself to slow down, video and photos. I have to tell my wife to go on, we can meet up at the corner or the tree or the big rock otherwise I feel rushed (although she is normally nice about it).
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it !! Traveling with family and relatives isn't always easy for sure. I feel lucky that my wife is into this otherwise it wouldn't always be fun haha.
Beau boulot, vraiment fan de ce que tu fais :)
Vidéo super intéressante !
Merci beaucoup, ca fait plaisir a lire :) !!
Loved every word! Great stuff, as always 🙂
Thanks a lot :) !!
Bravo!! Amazing video man. Love your work. It inspires me a lot to keep working on my own style and not to try to create content that I think others would like (like trying to fake some style I don't feel comfortable with). Thanks!
Thanks so much for the support !! Glad I could help :). Cheers
