Tip 5 - Keeping it clean. So many times I've taken footage thinking its gonna be so epic, but when reviewing the footage it's really shaky or the horizon is not level. Shooting with intent and a steady hand makes such a difference. Tip 7 - Travel Light. So true what you say about less is more. Its also easier to film and pull your camera out when your set up is small and compact without multiple bits and pieces. Tip 1 - Story telling. Probable the most valuable tip, but hardest to do for me. Help!! lol
Loved how Jake emphasized storytelling as the core of travel videos-especially the part about using a three-step narrative structure and planning your shot list! One challenge I’ve faced is nailing clean framing and stable shots while traveling solo. That’s where MagMirror could be a game-changer-it wirelessly mirrors your phone’s back camera feed onto its built-in screen, so you can perfectly frame yourself without needing a second person. Plus, its professional lighting features are perfect for those cinematic vibes Jake talks about. I’m heading over to MagMirror’s channel for more creator tips-hope to see you there!
My husband and I started making travel videos, and our goal is to be informative as much as possible. Your tips and information are indeed helpful. Will apply that in our next travel vlogs!
Travel light... just got back from a trip where I had a backpack and carry-on filled with camera gear, lol. 2 cameras, a GoPro, a GoPro Max, drone, gimbal, various mounts, tripods, filters, batteries and chargers. I used it all. :)
I never knew it as foley but rather sound effects. I am an amatuer moto-RUclipsr with limited time but love the post production aspect. Great freaking hobby! TY for the vid thumbs up, proud of your content!
Glad you enjoyed it Amelia, was probably info you already know from our storytelling workshop but yes! and yes to focusing on telling better stories :)
This was such a helpful video, thanks Jake! Awesome content, you made me buy a GoPro Hero 9 so there’s no other option than to go travel. Big fan, keep up the awesomeness 😎
every video is incredible you do, you definitely make it look effortlessly in all you do. I think the storytelling part is what we need to get right first. thanks Jake :)
I love making travel videos but my biggest mistake is not making a plan BEFORE going for holidays. I love being spontanous but when I put the video together I see i should made a plan. Great content! Thank you!
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah Thanks a lot! My next trip is Brazil in 3 months. I will make a solid plan this time. keep the channel growing as you got new subscriber:)
Great ideas. We have just got back from Brasil and have 200GB of footage from drone to phone footage and not sure how to structure but this has helped to have a bit of a plan
How cool, just found your channel, excellent delivery. My best tip was Micro stories brake down. Don’t try to tell your story all in one video. For me it’s just to overwhelming. Brake it down to bite pieces and then put together your story in video. Brilliant !!!
Thanks for the sound effect list! I need to do more drone shots in my videos, but sometimes I get nervous about whipping it out. It's so loud and attracts a lot of attention!
I feel you, it can be so obnoxious, but if you find places in the mountains where it’s quiet or just off the beaten tourist track it’s always worth the shot
found your channel, when i was reasearching go pro settings and techniques...your videos are so so easy to understand and helpful... and todays episode is what i needed...but i dont have your personality, i think that is also a major factor...
Great vid, last tip is spot on. I’m guilty of taking loads of gear then getting nothing. Took just a gopro last time and got loads more, and enjoyed it more too. ✌️
Great video man. I don't make travel videos, but came for the overall filmmaking/storytelling portion and you delivered big. Also, really appreciate your sound design on the little things too like the intro, the transition to overlays, etc. Keep up the super high quality work 👌🏻
Hi Jake! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and advice on your channer, I appreciate it! Could you please share your Premier output setting for youtube? Thank you!
Love all your videos very informative, I have a Go Pro 8. One thing you would suggest for video editing software that is great for beginners would be awesome..Thanks
Which tip did you find most valuable?
Using a shot list to plan and manage your content followed by micro storytelling.
Good storey telling, variety of shots
For me, micro storytelling is the most valuable, then the importance of audio. ✌
Tip 5 - Keeping it clean. So many times I've taken footage thinking its gonna be so epic, but when reviewing the footage it's really shaky or the horizon is not level. Shooting with intent and a steady hand makes such a difference.

Don't listen to anybody. If you like to make videos go out there and start. Just be YOURSELF. so simple.
Not even Jake saying this?

Hello there, could you please make a best setting video for air?
Mavic Air?
Merci pour les conseils, et surtout la traduction en français, en plus des images maintenant je comprend.
Which microphone would you recommend for gopro hero 9 and Android phone for making travel vlogs?
Can you do a video on external microphones and options for GoPro? Is it better to use an external recorder or media mod?
yep, just upgrade with the media mod and add a rode wireless go or rode video mic pro ;)
Thanks for this video Sir .
You’re welcome
