    I’m Tongan but mad respect to this guy and his advice. My brother was incarcerated and when he came out and saw how overweight I was and he made me do 25 burpees every day repeated sets and now I went from 145 kgs to 115 kgs and now working on achieving my goals to be an athlete. I didn’t do burpees just to loose weight and impress the ladies I did it cause I wanted to be driven and be mentally tough and with this guy posting videos about work outs will truly help another person out. Keep doin what you doin brother mad luv and respect ✊

      @Beeblebrox One right on. Yes you hit the target. The skinny guys have their stabilizer muscles more activated and more engaged through rough practice than the gassed out bodybuilder. Im that type of skinny guy like the workers. Stamina and endurance are up to par. But most importantly you gotta have the heart. I got a solid athletic frame just that some more thickness to the arms wouldnt hurt. I want my arms bigger. I can workout or lift heavy ass sand bags for that same type of work. I actually look swole ripped with that pump. Veins sticking out everywhere. but hours later the pump goes away. Sleep and nutrition are key factors also. But you hit the nail with your comment.

      @@franksmith9153 your right. Im upping my calories as of now. Its defcon 4. This morning I made my usual everyday green smoothie (kale, parsley, cucumber, celery) tossed it in the blender and downed that shit. 30 min later I had 4 pasteurized eggs in olive oil with a fat steak burrito. I think even if you do high pump burpees and calethesthics you will gain muscle if you are on a caloric surplus. I been eating a little maybe that is why I see minimal gains or no gains at all.

  • @yardratvegeta2237
    @yardratvegeta2237 4 года назад +10

    Yes, you are right brother they are different. Calisthenics is all about relative strength where when you do weights you're training maximal strength.

  • @ep7077
    @ep7077 4 года назад +20

    Great points. Like Moses says, you can do TOO much good cardio at times depending on what you're trying to do. If you were in a combat zone or maybe in Prison like he's talking about, all the burpees in the world aren't going to get you out from under a strong attacker who outweighs you by 30lbs. Having some explosive power and torque to grind stuff out will.
    Take training for specific sports take combat sports as a fitting example: A boxer trains to go for a long time. He wants to be lean, agile, and be able to throw tons of punches (light and set up mixed with power shots) But this boxer either never trains with weights, or if at all, its light weights. When a boxer gets leaned on, grabbed or tied up, the ref breaks the action. If someone grabs or ties too much they lose points. This guy can work cardio all day and its a good thing. But you switch to MMA and you need a different look on the torque and grinding strength. These guys will dead lift, shoulder press and do other stuff to get their muscle mass and explosiveness going.

    • @ep7077

      thank you Jose, way to keep a real convo amongst gentleman the way it should be. Yes indeedy, when in doubt do burpees as much as possible and we know that many institutions now took out the weights & almost always when you're on lock down you're without weights. But yeah to main line guys, if given the chance and provided the equipment, do your burpees, do your push ups, jump squats and then hit weight pile a few times a week, try to go as heavy as you can (many places have the pin machines or lower weight dumb bells) but if you're able, then keep your cardio but also get some of that "yoke" going...like the deadlifts, shoulder press, farmer carry, just a snatch a fool up and slam him kind of power haha

    Great that you said this. Truth is, if you do one exercise only, a couple of things will happen. You will get specifically fit at exactly that exercise and you will have to do even more or go even faster to get benefit. So mixing your training up is exactly right. Secondly, you will get wear and tear in that overly repetitious exercise. They are still great to do, but mixing them up in a routine of other exercises is the smart way to go IMHO.

    Agreed. I feel that the surface is important, if possible doing with a surface that takes the pounding off the joints. I also like to alternate doing them using parallete bars or an some other raised surface. That repittion of expoloding, (if done with a jump), from a closed packed position of the knee joints, (or close to it), has the possibility of leading to knee issues, (more so if you're predisposed to them).

    Very good message. I would highly recommend some hamstring and glute isolation training to prevent some knee pain, especially acl. Some nordic hamstring curls and hip thrusts certainly can't hurt. I also like to mix in different forms of cardio: biking, running, rower, stairs, and burpees. Can distribute the load across the body and prevent some of those nagging overuse injuries. Stay strong.

    My preference is burpees 3x per week at the end of a lifting session. Great cardio burn and gets circulation through the whole body.
    Since they're brutal AF and so boring to do, 3x per week is high enough frequency without getting burned out on them. I feel like doing burpees daily would eventually drive you crazy. 🤣

  • @collegefootballaddict1715

    Very good video - I think if you are jumping during your routine - then you are definitely putting additional stress on your knees and ankles... So, I don't do any jumping... And I completely agree with doing some weights with calisthenics - I added a weight day once per week and I can tell it has made me stronger over just the calisthenics. Many people on YT talk about the benefits of "lifting heavy things" every so often and - the hex bar with some weight definitely makes you overall stronger - so I completely agree - do a lot of different exercises for flexibility and strength.👍

    I can attest to this. First off, I ain't got nothing against burpees. It's one of the most effective body workouts to improve overall health, hands down. But unfortunately, it does affect the knee joints in the long run especially when you come of age. I've been doing burpees consistently in my 20's until I felt my knees gave out at 34yrs old. It's called "Jumper's knee" that affects most athletes involved with physical training. And burpees deals with a lot of bending and hoping.
    I don't do burpees anymore but I did find an alternative - swimming. As much as I love burpees, knees are the most important part to walk and the pain ain't no joke. That said, I had to burpees to rest.

      I’ve heard about that, I started keeping feet wide and no pressure on knees when I do burpees anymore.

    • @henchgamer6996
      @henchgamer6996 4 года назад +1

      @@trevordubois5573 put your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart.. Now squats with ur knees.. You'll notice that your knees are not in line with your toes but rather they go way forward... That puts stress on your knee joints and does nothing for your legs... Now.. Instead squat by bringing your ass back, and squatting down with your hips... Imagine that your lowering your ass backwards and down towards the floor.. Doing that will make your knees in line with your toes.. Not damaging your knees and working your legs.. Now incorporate that in thr squatting bit of the burpees

      True i used to do squats at the gym before doing burpees and I've incorporated that same form into my burpees with the wider stance and toes pointing out a bit keeping the back straight and my whole body feels better than when I use to pound heavy weight

    Moses cuevas you need to take supplements for your joints especially if you are working out very often i take animal flex for my joints because im really prone to injury on my shoulders and my knees, try taking supplements for joint support..

    you are absolutely right. i did burpees continue for a week, now for a month i am having joint pain in knee as well as in hand. now i cannot do even push up, it hurts. Be careful with this exercise and don't push yourself when you starts to feel pain.

      Burpees are actually meant to be done slow and controlled

    I agree...there are just certain exercises that my body lets me know right away that it’s no go especially when it comes to knees.

    Yeah i have done a similar training method, if the joints are not resting enough they will ache. You are correct to tell it in this video, that is why i liked it :)

    I think it's good to mix things up. Dips and pull ups upper body days and sprints and burpess cardio days .at least one day no burpess with cardio .

    Gotta use your hips more, burpee was originally a hip thrust movement.
