I just got my first Strandberg Original NX8 a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been playing guitar for 25 years - played everything from Aristides, high end Legator’s, Ormsby’s, Ibanez, and everything in between. That being said - I’m obsessed with my Strandberg. There is just this “vibe” that it gives me that makes me come out of my “box” I’ve been stuck in with writing for so many years. It’s inspiring, so comfortable to play, and truly one of the best sounding guitars I’ve ever played! I’m only buying Strandberg from now on. Great video man, and Matt’s playing was superb! Dudes got killer phrasing in his riffs.
Rock on, man. There's no question Ola is light-years ahead of most other people and is certainly one of the most original thinking builders on the planet. Def check out Matt and I in Lost Symphony at www.lostsymphony.com Matt is a ferocious beast!
Awesome dude! I really dug the detailed story of Strandberg - that guy put a ton of thought and work into developing his guitar. Matt's playing is amazing - thanks for a great show. BTW - am guessing that's about one week's supply of weed in the jar you gave him :). ROCK ON BENNY!
What kind of friend doesn’t offer samples after using the jar as a footstool?! That’s like putting candy in front of a kid and then saying, “no dice, cause it’s bad for your teeth.” 😢 😂😂😂 Gotta love this guy. Puff puff pass, folks!
I'm 68 years old Benny, and I like head! I like guitars with a head is really what I meant. I have heard nothing but good things about Strandberg's, but I'll take my 10 lb Gibson Les Paul Custom to my grave. Great video Benny!
Lin, you're preaching to the choir, my friend. I think these play great and I don't think I had shared how spectacular they are when I did my last video, that said, give me the 37 lb les paul. I don't ever see myself wanting to play this over a Gibson but you never know
You would look very strange with one of those strapped on and playing on stage. Just messing with ya Benny. I understand that guitars are all about tone! But, I knew when I was 9/10 years old that I would play & own a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top some day. Now I own & play 7 Gibson Les Paul's with humbuckers & P90's. I love them all, and with Christmas right around the corner, I may have 8 by the first of the year. I have a few already in my wist list on Reverb. Life is great Benny! Take care my friend. @@TheNeuroticGuitarist
I had to leave a comment. Not only is matt a great guitar player. But when you added the jar weed for the support of his foot. I love you man. Ha ha. You couldn't have done anything more perfect
Holy shit, man. That man can play! You were not kidding. You're no slouch either, though. Kick ass video, man. Strandbergs are for sure innovative. Love that. Despite of having a hard time with the aesthetics of no head stock.
They're great guitars. I'm old fashioned where I want a les paul because of how it inspires my esthetically but strandbergs are def here to stay and incredibly innovative. Matt and I have been playing together for over a decade, check out the song conflagration at the link in the description. That's my band Lost Symphony that Matt has guested on! He's incredible
Will totally check out the music! I’d love to hold a Strandberg just once to understand what the deal is. I’ve heard very few people say they dislike these guitars after trying them out. I just wish they could figure out how to make even a teeny headstock for us headstock fans lol.
The whole point is that they make Headless guitars 🤪 the neck is also patetened so no one is gonna be using that neck until the patent is up, that's the whole point 😀
1000 pound Les Paul vs. a Strandberg,,, well I guess it's good to try out new things, was a well informative video, LaPierre was laying it down there,,,, great job once again Benny~
Thanks so much and Matt killed it! If you haven't checked out the stuff he and I have done together with lost symphony def add it to your Spotify and check out the link in the description. He's a monster.
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I would call it ' Disney Metal ' but mostly a rhythm player. Switched to Strandbergs due to hand pain / complications and the strandy is the only guitar I can currently play for extended periods of time.
I’ve had a boden nx6 for about 3wks now…I like it…not a fan of the “fanned” frets but its lite, the neck carve is incredibly comfortable and it holds tune like a beast…so I think its a keeper👍
I'm curious to see what you think in 3 months about the fanned frets. We talk about that in the video! They're def rad guitars but 100% their own thing.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist man I think if I just got one and lived with it I could see the features and versatility making it the only one I pick up. Except for one thing. My favorite individual riff of all time is Couldn't Stand the Weather. And your thumb just can't be in the middle.of the back of the neck. And it isn't as comfortable for the thumb over the top. So a learning curve. Love the innovation and forward thought.
My uncle was mentioned in the movie! Back to the future 2! The football play in the background! The guy running for the winning touch down for UCLA! Jim Decker! 😊😊
Ah...I don't get why people are so surprised by these guitars?? Strandbergs are great guitars but did everyone forget about Ned Steinberger in the 80s??? Headless GL2T from carbon graphite and the GM series guitars with the TransTrem, transposing Tremolo?? The Steinbergers with a TransTrem were 9 octave guitars, 3 in the neck & 6 (3 up, 3 down) in the Trem. Ned Steinberger was the first to do Headless. Remember Eddie VanHalen's GL2T guitar, Sting's Steinberger L2 bass, Mike Rutherford of Genesis' GM1T guitar or Reeves Gabrel's (Of David Bowie fame) chrome GL2T guitar??? Don't get me wrong, I love my Strandberg, it just seems like everyone forgot where this concept started...with Ned Steinberger.
I'm with you. EVH used a trans trem on some 5150 tunes although complained it never stayed in tune so he stopped using it. Even the Gibson futura prototype that just was sold (it was made in 82/83) looked like a strandberg. Although his real innovation is his neck design and the hardware he uses. That's why people go crazy for him. He expanded that niche well beyond what steinberger was ever doing in the 80s.
Awesome stuff!! Did you get any more Strandbergs after that other one you demoed? Seems like an interesting rabbit hole to go down 🐰 So.....why exactly do they raise reindeer??!!!!!!! Maybe answer that after a few tokes lol
I don't own a single one, just borrowed them. They're cool, if I can trade into one for the right price I'd probably keep it in my arsenal, but still not a guitar that appeals to me esthetically which is super important to me. I like looking down at a les paul or prs, but the strandbergs play spectacular
@@TheNeuroticGuitarist I found the text on the website, maybe not dip into the footrest jar before you re-read it 😁. Some lady (at a guitar show in Uppsala, another Swedish city) did liken it to reindeer horns, and hence the connection to Boden where they keep a lot of reindeer. Regardless great video, keep it up! Oh, and they farm these animals for their meat and pelts, traditionally done by the Same indigenous people. Reindeer filet steak is delicious. Cheers!
Ah yeah … about the my friend Matt is a better player than me , he is also a good deal better than me as well ! 😄 after watching him do a little demo ( just kinda messing around too! ) that was very impressive! ( caution though you might want to buy it when you see the crazy beautiful tops they use ! 😄) They look Awesome 😮and every single one of them is a high end custom order. The price isn’t that bad really when you consider it’s a full custom order tailored to exactly what you want , I’m sure I read they will even make a freaking 10 string if you want it ! Like a beautiful piece of artwork that you can play. They have a cool video tour of their shop on RUclips. If I had the cash I think that’s what I would love to own next , ( no not the 10 string but I do think I would get a 7 string for the low end but I definitely don’t need more than that ! From what I’ve seen it will take about 6months to a year to make and ship but totally worth it when you see what they can build ! they absolutely do not rush their true craftsmanship style process and the results are astounding! The first time I ever seen one was on a Distant Dream video ( main guys name is Marcin and I’ve talked with him a bit a few months back , he’s a super nice dude ) they are Polish band , very cool instrumental heavy guitar riffs with high guitar note runs over top, sounds awesome! I was an instant fan. 🤘🏻 if you do like it also check out Widek he produces their albums and sounds somewhat similar and that’s a good thing 👍🏻
