The actress' sweat in the scene is real. In a panel discussion at a con she told the story of how they were under the gun for time and she was very sick. She had the crew put a bucket next to her and between takes she would throw up into it. The kind of thing stagehands like me do. The show must go on. Mad respect.
Having that sick definitely adds to the scene in how the character Starbuck is trying not to rewind her breakfast when she not only has to fit inside the raider inside guts and flesh, but the fact that the oxygen tube she had to inhale didn't make it better, lol.
The waggle is also a nod to the OG Battlestar Galactica series, in which both Appolo and Starbuck hijack a Raider and fly it back to Galacita, who also reacts in a similar fashion to here...until the guy monitoring it on his screen says "It's Starbuck!" and is asked how he can tell "He's waggling!".
@@benjaminbierley2074That's right! They had a transponder that would ID them as friendly, and when asked before their mission what they would do if they lost it (which they did of course), Starbuck said sarcastically, "I guess we'll waggle our wings."
It's called 'waggeling' in the original BSG series when Apollo & Starbuck use it in their Cylon Raider, so Galactica doesn't kill them. So nice this one did the callback.
Pilots in reality also 'wave' with their wings in real life-- I imagine there's some kind of unspoken naval aviator thoughts on it as a signal as well. Basically it's probably based on real world stuff :3
3:28 Anyone notice that both Adama and Tigh say "This'll be over in 45 seconds." at the same time? Adama's voice mostly overwhelems Tigh's but you can see Tigh's mouth move and can just about hear him.
I'm so glad I own this DVD set. Ya just can't get tired of it. It touches the heart in so many ways. It's family. It's friends. It's enemies. It's happiness. It's the worst tragedy It's drama. It's comedy. One of the best shows, not just sci-fi but all shows, in history.
I love how they kept the wing waggle in from the original series, as a reference! (Dirk Benedict's character did the same wing waggle, because he lost the custom transponder before they hijacked one of the cylon raiders to return to Galactica. The wing waggle was a way for the viper pilots to tell that it was Starbuck, and not an enemy cylon.)
Waggling is reference to Original Series; in ME 'just waggle your wings of something' by Joker was reference to the same Original Series mission, very similar to Geth Dreadnaught. BTW: Mass Effect also referenced Hunt for Red October in the same mission.
Never under estimate the effect of one person on a units moral. My grandfather and Dad taught that. They said you get bad apples all the time. But every once in awhile you get person, who may be a loudmouth and troublemaker among others. But when the chips ared down, they are at their best. My dad said you learn love them like your own kin. He that lived bout this epsiode show bond of a unit the effect losing that one person could have.
It’s like duh would one raider fly towards you all by itself and not immediately jump away and have a base star jump in and fire nukes? They needed to update their friend or foe recognition protocols.

@@KuDastardly don't forget the broken leg
I love Lee's reply to Adama "it's got to be her. This thing is flying with some serious attitude".
Starbuck delivers, arrows, Cylon raiders, base ships, Earth.
Apollo's holler and the wing waggle always gets me! Show did such of good job of getting you invested in what's happening
I feel bad for whoever had to empty/change the bucket between takes. The sight and smell requires a strong stomach.
@@drmayeda1930 Yeah, the actress's stomach flu at the time...which can be nasty, and hella of a job her powering through it to film the scenes.

Love how Tigh and Adama say at the same time "it could be over in 45 seconds".
Rip-off from "Top Gun."
"Bring it into the bay! If it does ANYTHING, take it out."
Perfect line perfectly given.
I love the callback to the original BSG "waggle" at the end.
"The Hand of God."
I love the little wiggle Starbuck gave lmao

I keep forgetting how great this show was. Thanks for the reminder!
Said it before and ill say it again-that tiny 'ship wave' at the end-just classic. Took me back to 12 years old watching the original

This time watching was actually the first time I noticed that they both say it at once.
"They're waggling!"
"Waggling?!”
They actually made a reference to it in mass effect 2 when joker mentions waggling the wings. Tricia Helford played the A.I. on Normandy.
@@Anarchist86ed This is reference to BSG original series.

One of the MOST EMOTIONAL scene from this tv-series... Epic!

Man I miss this show
Gods this show was so frakking good!
Probably the greatest moment in BSG ?
When they took out scar. I liked that one.
2:01 - you can see the greenscreen still reflected in the visor
Brilliant and amazing show 😊❤️👍Love this episode

That's a Hero character for ya
It's a good thing Lee isn't a better pilot.
3:11 I’m gonna hit the brakes, he’ll fly right by…
that dude fired so much ammo that i suppose he dragged a warehouse behind him
between Starbuck and the raider they were that good. They kept evading is shots.
Romo Lampkin uploads please

It should have been hotdog that intercepted starbuck, man she makes lee look so bad in this scene.
Callback to the original show.
