- The vipers from Galactica and Pegasus are set to do battle with one another over the issue of Helo and Tyrol’s impending execution. It seems Admiral Cain and Commander Adama have differences to resolve.
From "Resurrection Ship (Part 1)" (Season 2, Episode 11): Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace prevents a potentially deadly face-off between the battlestars Galactica and Pegasus when she returns at the last second from her unauthorized mission in the blackbird stealth fighter, bearing stunning recon photos of the Cylons' "resurrection" ship.

Love this scene and her reaction.
I just love how quickly and elegantly all the fighters stopped "fighting" each other and formed up so beautifully when they detected Starbuck.

Its amazing how effective a common threat is to make two groups stop attacking each other and to start working together.
Crazy how they all align along the same imaginary 2d plane. One would think in space it doesn't matter if your ships roll angle is different from the others.
All the Vipers falling into formation is just a thing of beauty.
Notice that nobody detected the blackbird until it responded to Lee's message. The same second Kara pressed the send button, the alarm sounded in both battlestars.
Actually, it was later, when she disengaged from stealth mode after she and Apollo had hashed out a plan.
Well yeah, that's when they detected her transmission.
It looked like she jumped the blackbird into that spot. They should have equipped that ship with a transponder that can be turned off as needed.
@@drmayeda1930Real world stealth aircraft also have radar reflectors that can be deployed so they can be tracked when they want to be. Like, say, by ATC. Its likely the Blackbird has something similar, especially after it 'vanished' on its flight test.
I guess this was one of the rare moments where Admiral Cain was REALLY impressed by something.

I really, REALLY hated this version of Admiral Cain. Don't get me wrong. I loved the actress, but how they handled the character to me was just awful. I did not shed a tear for that POS when she died.
That's a chilling scene. A ball of Hornets buzzing around only for all of them to turn and chase after you.

The actress playing Admiral Kane did such a fantastic job at her role.. i had feelings of contempt whenever she spoke her lines. thats great acting.
She also played another favourite: Ensign Roe, in Star Trek: TNG. They planned to bring her back for DS9, but declined. That role ended up being replaced with Nana Visitor as Major Kira.
Her name is Michelle Forbes
I did not like her because a woman should never be in charge of anything more than a vacuum cleaner, however I agree with what she did, She was watching out for herself and her friends 1st and did what it took to keep her ship flying and fighting and her crew fed.
She was also great as the bad guy in second or third season of TRUE BLOOD.
And she did a movie early in her career with Brad Pitt, David Duchovney and Juliette Lewis called KALIFORNIA which was really good.
Bear Mc Creary's "Prelude to War" was an integral part of the build up of tension in this scene but his soundtrack throughout the whole show was just brilliant.
Bear was a very young musical *genius* when he wrote the musical scores for this television series. probably my favorite tv show soundtracks, *ever.*
The cue at 5:12 isn't something that you can find in the soundtrack but it's still gorgeously done. McCreary really killed it.

Well deserved. Even regarding Cain's mental issues, Adama could have done better.

@@ultrasometimes8908 Not quite. She was intended to be on DS9 but the actress didn't want to commit to a new series, so they instead changed Ro's character to Kira. While she was supposed to be there, Major Kira isn't the same actress.

They do, but a raider jumping that close on purpose would be suicide.
The whole fleet jumps are specially coordinated to prevent a disastrous collision event.

But if one were to consider it...
Fisk wouldn't know at this point, but suicide wasn't a deterrent to the Cylons with resurrection tech.
If it had been a Raider, whether it escaped via FTL or was blown up, the end result is the same: fleet location info gets back to the Cylons.
A Cavil actually told a Six to airlock herself in Razor, so that she could provide information to the rest of the Cylons.
I always thought a technique that would've worked is having Raiders do close proximity - relatively, not right on top of them - jumps with nukes armed, then launch on arrival. Of course, that would've made the series a bit shorter ;)

The new show’s got a lot to live up to. I was colossally late to the BSG party (first full viewing was last year), but i went through the whole thing in less than a month. Could not put it down. Can only hope the new one is even a fraction as good
Watch The Expanse. GREAT show. I'd say it's slightly better, but not by much.
@@TheEDFLegacy The Expanse is better in that the quality hasn't wavered . It's been consistently amazing through all 5 seasons. BSG kind of went in the crapper in season 3, once they broke out of New Caprica. It picked up a bit in season 4 but it never matched the quality it had before they escape from New Caprica.
I was watching one night and thought "man the second unit filming near Saturn was earning their Pay on that one then remembered it was all CG"
The Mark VII looks soooooooo good. So glad they went all out with the designs.

This. This is what happens when humans have a common enemy. We stop fighting ourselves and start fighting the enemy.
Cain was an awesome character played by a great actor, I would have liked her to stick around for a few more episodes though, after her and Adama decided not to kill each other, see how that story arc would have played out, maybe give her a more heroic ending like the original series.
This was the best show on TV, ever, end of story. It was the reason why TV was invented.
It wasn't on a network so they had a little more flexibility.
Next up is Battlestar Galactica and Pegasus blazing hell on Cylons!
See folks nothing like a common goal or target to unite humans. They were all about to start shooting one another.
Then they see a possible Cylon Raider and it’s “Hey we are all on Team Humanity”
The chaos made things chaotic.
It's basically like this, metaphorically applied everywhere. Sometimes people need a temporary villian for unity. And look at what they accomplished together after

Gods, can you imagine seeing two squadrons of Vipers about flip and head straight for you? Even Starbuck wet herself a bit, I imagine.
I saw Admiral Kane's actress on Picard recently- Jesus christ she hasn't aged a day.

Michelle Forbes was amazing as Admiral Cain. I really hated her character, and that, my friends is what great writing and acting does!
Why no one talk about the prequel "Caprica"? good show too, and essential to understand where and why everything starts!
Caprica would have made a good 6part mini series but it was too jumbled and unfocused to stand as a show. Cylons were interesting but then there was all that monotheism subplot, the matrix, digital avatars, crime family drama, people smuggling, business coups... I just wanted to shout “Pick a lane and stick to it”.
@@mattwho81 True they're a bit all over the place with subplots, the Caprica show would be far better if it follow less characters and not try to explain everything about that Cylon cult, or the root of the Adama family and stick to the reasons and the purposes of the creation of the first Cylons and the people who made them.
Caprica had a good idea but it went to hell quickly.
The colonies were a space faring civilisation for hundreds of years but the aesthetics of Caprica were like being in the 50's.

Admiral Cain was excited because she saw the opportunity to begin research on number 6 realdoll research here. She has been lonely ever since Lt. Shaw identified one of them as a spy.

Wow - space battles between jet fighters - what an original concept!
They're thrusters, not jets, and they're space/atmos fighters, hence the innovative attitude jets and the tactics that go with them.
If you're going to attempt to nitpick, at least put in the work.
@@michaelccozens That's what I like about shows like this one and The Expanse...The ships use actual Newtonian physics as opposed to the fancy maneuvers in other sci fi shows
