The best roasted cauliflower recipe

- Whole roasted cauliflower is a delicious, easy recipe (though it takes some time). It's a great way to use discolored or oxidized cauliflower that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
Written recipe: markosavic.ca/recipes/whole-r...
It's super easy - all you need is a whole cauliflower, olive oil, and salt.
Boil your cauliflower for 10 minutes until fork tender. Move it to a cooling rack so all the steam can escape, which takes 20-30 minutes. Coat it in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and place it into a preheated, very hot oven - 450-550 F. After 30-45 minutes, remove it and allow it to cool slightly before serving.
It's an amazing recipe and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Tried this last night but with garlic powder and parmesan put on for the oven stage. Even my vegetable hating husband loved this!
Amazing! That sounds great. So glad that you both loved it!
Just found this recipe and made it because I had a cauliflower head in fridge. Even with these simple three ingredients, it turned out AWESOME! Thanks for making it so easy to follow too!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! Thanks for this.
I will make it!
I love your simplicity and calmness!
Thank you!
I cook my cauliflower in the microwave for 10 mins, then cover with a mixture of Helmans mayo and grated parmesan cheese, top with buttered bread crumbs and bake for 20 mins, OMG, it is amazing. Much better than just plainly roasted
Sounds great!! Gonna try your version, it reminds me of the artichoke dip with parmeson and Hellmans.
Great tip!
Thank you, for giving me an additional option for cooking one of my most fave veggies!
I’m going to try this weekend.
I love cauliflower, I am going to try this! Thanks
"Give Ugly Produce a Chance" should be a bumper sticker! I was "today years old" when I learned about oxidation on cauliflower. I would always scrape/cut that stuff off thinking it's not good to eat.
Thanks! I actually made these stickers already for my friends and my local independent grocery store put one up in their produce fridge! Definitely on the list of merch ideas when I get there! Perhaps a Market Bag too?
Me too.

I am a newbie cook, and remember seeing this recipe some time ago. At the time, I thought I had to light my electric stove with a match so I didn't attempt it. Thanks to some great friends, I have finally learned a few cooking skills, and I just made this marvelous tasting cauliflower recipe. It is so amazingly delicious, and I can't believe I was able to do it. Thank so much.
I’m so glad to hear that, I’m glad you had a great experience with the recipe and I hope it encourages you to keep cooking! If you like squash, I would recommend the roasted squash recipe on my channel as another easy but very tasty recipe!

I made it and it was delicious! I mixed Herbs de Provence with good olive oil and brushed the surface; once it cooled off, baked it , and when it came out golden and caramelized, I sliced it and sprinkled fresh Parmesan cheese...it was a hit! Thank you for sharing the recipe....next try , Baked Cabbage...😊
That sounds amazing! I am going to try that.
@@ProbablyWorthSharingI was watching this video and thinking that sprinkling some grated Parmesan cheese at the end of baking process might work nicely.

Amazing! So glad you enjoyed it.

I love your voice. So calming. 🙂
Hello Marco,
Thank you for illustrating this recipe. I have a friend from India who made baked cauliflower once for thanksgiving. She had covered in in some sort of a curried bean paste. I guess that's an Indian thing. Anyway I'm so glad to have your recipe I will try it as soon as I get a head of cauliflower. I am also looking forward to trying your squash recipe that you mentioned somewhere. Best wishes to you
It was delicious, cooked it in the oven for 40 min , going to try it again. Cheers
So glad you loved it!
I made this and it was awesome.
I will be putting this on my menu for next week - A perfect vegetable dinner centerpiece for a diabetic! Thank you so much! (Great channel, btw.)
Thank you, hope you enjoy it!
I made it and it is SUCCULENT and WONDERFUL !!! Made it October 2nd 2023
@@ProbablyWorthSharing It is wonderful. In a pinch, I have even used this for a frozen cauli florets side dish! Quite amazing!
i try to have one best recipe for each thing i cook. i made this today and it is hands down my (your) absolute best cauliflower recipe. it is also the first of your recipes i have tried. many thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you liked this I would suggest trying the roasted squash next!
This came out perfectly. I'll experiment with other toppings just for fun, but I also like it just the way it is with olive oil and salt. I had the most amazing cauliflower in Israel that had a tahini-sauce on it which I haven't been able to duplicate. Every time I make cauliflower, it's either too mushy or too undercooked/dry. This technique made the cauliflower picture-perfect. Now I just need to figure out that tahini coating....
Just discovered you and enjoyed the relaxed recipe presentation… freshly subbed for more delicious delights 😊
Thank you!
Yes, I love Marco's simple, calm presentation. Feel I have found a chef I can learn from without a lot of hype. Thanks so much, Marco!
Can’t wait to try this recipe thank you!
Hope that you love it!
It's a great idea. I usually use cauliflower together with stockfish , after having cooked it in water and then add it with olive oil in little pieces of garlic and onion ,then take it to the oven with soja sauce , pepper and piri-piri for around 25 minutes ,180°. This is a recipe from south Europe. You may other kind of common fish instead of codfish and add slices of boiled potatoes to it. Greetings from Portugal in the Algarve.
Sounds great!
I made this last night along with Chicken Marsala. I must admit, I was skeptical. But it truly was delicious! I usually just roast cauliflower. But this way, it stays very moist on the inside, as well as roasted on the outside. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. I will make this my go to for cauliflower. Thank you for the recipe!
Glad you loved it! Appreciate the kind words.
😊😊
Love it very good 👍
So excited to try this! I did read through all the comments and enjoyed the variations people are suggesting too. As for wasting the vitamins in the water, I would use the water for stock in soups. Thank you for posting this recipe!
I appreciate you! The water might be too salty for soup so if that is your plan I would suggest lowering the salt going in initially.
Had my doubts, but it is great! Thanx.
Glad to hear that!
I love the way he says "Caul-ee-flower". 🤩
I was talking about your comment with a friend, and then we did a voice memo poll with a bunch of people - it turns out this is a Canadian thing! We had no idea.
Ellen I say it like that as well, how do you say it?
How else would you say it? How do you say it?
UK here, We say it like that here too. How else can it be said?!
If, not eef
A very enjoyable and informative video, mainly because of your knowledgeable and relaxed teaching style. Because of that, I have subscribed
Thank you, that means a lot!
Thank you for such detailed instructions - will be trying this recipe soon!
Thank you, I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you good man!
You’re welcome!
I love it! Can't wait to make it...
☺️
oxidized anything, even apples, taste differently. I just peal the oxidized bit off.
the rest is quite well explained. I esspecially loved the fact that you didn't waste time saying what is also written on the vid.
and I agree with you that we should always buy the older produce first. they're awesome for any dish (especially cream soups).
I wanted the recipe diary, so I used melted butter instead of olive oil, and I sprinkled some shredded parmezan on top, as well as herbs and garlic powder.
I will definitely try some green goddess thina to serve with, next time.
thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to try this recipe! I loved your video and your presentation, and how carefully you explain so many things. I can’t wait to watch more of your video, so I’m definitely subscribing now. Thank you so much for sharing this.❤
Thank you, appreciate the kind words!
I've been making this for years, as I am not a huge cauli fan, but I can devour an entire head when cooked this way. I love it best in the air fryer so the whole head gets brown. No need to pre-cook it either. Also great with the head brushed with a mayo/dijon blend and sprinkled with your favorite seasoning. Makes a nice crunchy crust on the outside and the inside is soft and creamy. Yummo! You're the first person I've seen do the whole head like I do.
Glad to know the air fryer works - had a lot of questions from folks about that! Mayo/dijon sounds delicious.
@MizJewels: thank you for mentioning the no need for pre cooking. I hate boiled cauliflower but love to it raw with some mayo+mustard sauce. Am going to try roasting it without pre-boiling.
I wonder though if the boiling in salted water doesn’t give it an extra umph. Maybe I need to try both…
Hi. Can you share your recipe with the air fryer? I was just about to type questions about adopting this recipe with air fryer before come across your comment.
Airfryer you say! hmm., just acquired my new toy so this will be getting some experiments now.
What temp in air fryer and how long please 😊
Mmmm gotta try this recipe 👍🏼
😊
It will taste even better if you add a little bit of butter with the olive oil. It is good as you have it but, if you want that extra that only butter can bring to a dish.
Butter does make everything better
I was thinking the same.
Ghee
'Better' is subjective fella.. also some people don't eat animal products so...
My thoughts too. I love butter!!
I went out and bought the most perfect cauliflower I could find just to make this recipe...can't wait!!!!!!
Nice! Hope that you love it.
@@ProbablyWorthSharing I made this and OH MY GOD!!!!!! It was absolutely delicious!!!!! Also, I happened to have some hummus so took your suggestion and paired them together----the combination is sublime, you are so right about that. Your directions were spot on too, even the seemingly minor details were important, so I really appreciate the effort you made to explain all of the nuances. xoxoxo
I made this, and it is delicious 😋
Great recipe. A light dusting of paprika adds another layer of complexity and flavor.
That sounds delicious!
Yum I have smoked paprika
I'm going to try this recipe in my new Ninja Air -Fryer. Thank you for this.
I made this and it was SOOO good!! 😍
Sounds fabulous.
☺️
I forgot how delicious cauliflower can be if prepared well. Thank you. Anxious to try your method... I've never boiled it first or left it whole...
I hope you love it, I believe in you!
At Christmas its lovely with cream and cheese on top
Really tasty! I think for my 2nd try I’m going to salt the water a bit more for boiling.
Thank you for simple ingredients and still very delicious, it help me a lot to start my life as a wife to cook meal for my husband 😊🙏🏼
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Great recipe mate..
Thank you!
I will try this, am pretty sure its good.
Do everything like this recipe. After cooling down, you need to mix mayonnaise and shredded parmesam cheese 5-6 oz. and spread it on cauliflower at bake at 370 until golden brown. You will be in heaven when you eat this. People who don't like cauliflower love it this way.
wow...i want to try this now.
Do you mean that we should do this after it already cooked in the oven?
@@LisaThornburg-cm8uv
YESSS!! This is excellent too! Both ways are so good.
I've made it twice now and passed it onto others. It looks fabulous and tastes it too! Thank you!
Great to hear, and thanks for sharing!
going to try
Made this tonight, and after many failures before, your method made it turn out perfectly.
Great to hear!
OH MY GOODNESS. I just found it to 23 muskie. Wow. I just made it this evening. I can hardly stop from eating it. So delicious. Thank you Mark. You rock. xoxox from AZ.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for trying the recipe out 😊
This is delicious, but I like my Cauliflower firm, so I only boil it for 5 mins, the bake it for 15 mins and broil it on low for about 3 mins to get the additional browning. Add parmesan for an added flavor dimension.
