Ryan really needs a guy like he used to have in Mike. He may have just been learning about concrete when he was there, but he was very conscientious when it came to being responsible with equipment and tools and how to leave a job for a customer.
All of these guys are only there for a paycheck. They definitely lack in the how to treat a customer and respect their property department. Most of them are too much in a hurry to go get side work dome, I can only imagine the work their doing there when they gotta be told how and what to do constantly

I see a lot of people blaming Big Ray for the stones in the top soil, and obviously he's to blame, once again, but the other guys are also to blame because they for sure saw the stones in the dirt but they didn't do anything, they just did the job and left. None of them care, they just want a check and free food. I fully agree about paying them a bonus to show up is wrong. I’ve never had a job where if you don’t show up you are no longer employed. The incentive to show up is the pay check.

i dunno the exact situation here, but in general, alot of business owners of buisnesses like this try to make it work with a crew full of rookies and incompetents so they can pay them less....and it always shows. This has been the deal at several electrician businesses i have worked for. And its like they never learn....pay extra for a couple competent guys that really know what they are doing and it goes a long way.

@@Tundraoutdoors One of the problems is that when the day is “done” they go right home. They don’t have a quitting time. The day isn’t done until all tasks are finished. If you are responsible for a vehicle the day isn’t done until that vehicle is ready for its next usage. With a dump truck that means a clean bed. If it’s always carrying the same material, no big deal if there is some left over product in the bed. If you’re moving topsoil, you need to make sure there’s nothing that’s going to ruin the quality of the finished job. The other problem is that when they applied the topsoil they left gravel in the finished job. That’s unacceptable. I’m really surprised because they usually do good finish work.
I agree the guys had to see the rock mixed in with the topsoil. If there is rock mixed with topsoil every time it rains it exposes more and more rock to the surface. But with all that said I think it still comes down to laziness.

You can't fire someone for being mentally challenged, especially if they have medical documentation when they fill the application, it's grounds for a lawsuit. I'm a supervisor at my job and have three nuero-divergent employees, I can't just fire them when they mess up.
Exactly! Ryan you have no right to disrespect a customer that paid for a professional job and has a reasonable issue with the quality, especially since he still holds the check. Had it been me I would have said fix it right then I'll pay! A stone picked up by a mower can cause a lot of damage to windows, parked cars, heaven forbid if it hit a person. I am amazed that instead of questioning the crew first you called the man to confront his issue, sight unseen. Why not drive by after the email he sent to check it out yourself, or ask for pictures? Finally I wonder why you didn't offer to stop by that afternoon, but choose to build fireworks stands instead? I have watched other concrete RUclipsrs that cut the sod back before setting the forms and when they finish, replace the sod. Piece of advise, let Mike contract with you to fill in these areas and reseed at least you know it would not be half dirt and half gravel.
That's one of Ryan's worst traits.. He gets so defensive with people he should NOT be getting an attitude with like customers and city inspectors. Like Boss, your guys messed up that guy's yard, and it was not left in a "completed" state that you agreed to in your service contract. I was in construction for 15 years. Every crew I worked around was like this. Only the boss cares, so unless you have skin in the game, it's not your worry. I worked for my dad, it stressed him out all the time.

He gets rewarded for his lack of care. Did not clean the dump truck, leads to a customer complaint and he gets rewarded with lunch. The other employees see that and figure why should they care.
Been there and done that. If you have 1 employee who will take real pride and pay attention to the details you are a lucky guy. As a retired contractor I know how it goes.

He gave his employees an incentive to get a raise isby ,3 bucks just by being on time .
You can't fire someone for being mentally challenged, especially if they have medical documentation when they fill the application, it's grounds for a lawsuit.
I'm a supervisor at my job and have three nuero-divergent employees, I can't just fire them when they mess up.
Ryan makes an extra 30k a month just from social media probably covers a months worth of pay roll if not less so why would he fire them?

Exactly! Ryan you have no right to disrespect a customer that paid for a professional job and has a reasonable issue with the quality, especially since he still holds the check. Had it been me I would have said fix it right then I'll pay! A stone picked up by a mower can cause a lot of damage to windows, parked cars, heaven forbid if it hit a person. I am amazed that instead of questioning the crew first you called the man to confront his issue, sight unseen. Why not drive by after the email he sent to check it out yourself, or ask for pictures? Finally I wonder why you didn't offer to stop by that afternoon, but choose to build fireworks stands instead? I have watched other concrete RUclipsrs that cut the sod back before setting the forms and when they finish, replace the sod. Piece of advise, let Mike contract with you to fill in these areas and reseed at least you know it would not be half dirt and half gravel.
That's one of Ryan's worst traits.. He gets so defensive with people he should NOT be getting an attitude with like customers and city inspectors. Like Boss, your guys messed up that guy's yard, and it was not left in a "completed" state that you agreed to in your service contract. Why don't you try and raise your voice with your employees instead of customers next time lol

I was in construction for 15 years. Every crew I worked around was like this. Only the boss cares, so unless you have skin in the game, it's not your worry. I worked for my dad, it stressed him out all the time.
Tino went from unreliable to most reliable ever since Ryan helped him out with that car. Shows that one simple gesture can truly turn someone around.
