UCLA for instate is only$13,500 for tuition. State university. The living cost is more than the school. USC, a private university, is $65,000 a year. Out of state UC tuition is $46k, give or take. If I had a kid who went to any college and wanted a crap degree they would be.on their own
All educational establishments should NOT be profit making organisations and there needs to be legislation limiting cost of providing education against profit. Big business and the stock market should be kicked out and banned from anything to do with educational establishments. Also sponsorships need regulating in this area to prevent political manipulation

I have watched videos of students at these universities for years now. I am very sad to come to the conclusion way too many of the are some of the dumbest people in our country. I also think forgiving student debt is totally immoral.
No one forced college students to go to college or take out a loan. Why should I as a taxpayer be forced to pay for their economically poor decision? I didn’t worked hard and earned my $150000+ a year job working at times 60+ hrs a week. I’m appalled my taxes are going to pay off these indoctrinated kids loans. I received a very poor state education here in California. There was a time when I lamented the fact that I couldn't go to a beautiful school like UCLA. I was somewhat envious, in fact. Now, It's obvious to me that these institutions have abdicated their responsibility to truly educate the youth of this country. At worst, they are indoctrination mills. At best, they simply don't have the will or the strength to set their students on the right path. I see these colleges as nothing more than beautiful buildings occupied by idiots and ideologues.
When students go to college and start taking on these loans, they don't understand the compound interest applied to the outstanding balance on a DAILY basis. So when thede loans are starting to be paid off the standard payment is divided as followed: 90% of each payment and 10% goes to tge outstanding principal. I am currently paying off student loans for the past 12 years and still gave 85% of total loans stull due. I did not got to an expensive school. I had one loan have a principal balance of $1500 and not has a payoff balance of $1600. I have not missed any payments since starting the payments. The best way to deal with the student loan crisis is to forgive the interest on student loan debt

While living in Germany, most of the people I knew were getting out of college in 3 years with little debt. Also have to keep in mind that they are basically going to an in state college. Massive majority of people going out of state w/o scholarships are just wasting money. And it seems the smartest method anymore is to do community for basic classes that transfer and move to in state university for a major if needed. My dad worked 2 jobs on side while going to university and starting a family as well as continued for his masters (multiple) while starting career. I went a different route w/ the G.I. Bill. These kids just need to take responsibility for accepting a large debt for the big name that won’t mean crap if they get a worthless degree or don’t work hard. But they’ll probably get out, live in an area they feel entitled to that’s realistically out of their col range and take a ridiculous loan on a car they can’t afford. And they’ll whine about not having enough to pay it back while racking up credit card debt. So many people have more debt than they make annually w/o including mortgage. And the current economy is only making it worse, except for that top 1%. I’m sure that’s Trump’s fault though.
Student loan debt is paid by the working class taxpayer. The debt relief should be owned by the person who takes out the loan, not the taxpayer. The president is keeping the middle class and lower class live check by check.
