Awsome! Great comparison and honest opinions between the two. I'm sure I love both too! I'm sure if Zvex redesigned this pedal they would make a few changes for the new pedal Era but it still fits in great to stack into and has great tones.
I suggested in the comments the zvex box of rock v teisco distortion pedal last time I think the 68 v box of rock was a better choice.. lpd pedals are the best sounding wonder what the Lawrence secret formula is?🙂
For me the 68 on sound and looks as you say handles the Humbuckers better but can I also just say Fano + Distortion pedal = magic sweet sound every time.
One of my faves is TechNTone's Turbo Nonna. TNT is in London UK and is the one man operation of Fabio Pania. Colombo Audio Electronics does the Plexi Breed. The one box has a Marshall JTM 45, a model 1959 and a model 1987. The 3 most classic Marshalls ever all voiced with scary accuracy! It too is a one man effort of Luca Colombo.
That BOR looks different... I'm scared. I fear change. Always leave that boost on, yes! It's a "more better" button. I run most of my Fuzz 'n dirt into a BOR. It works.
I'm a simple guy, I see Box of Rock I click like before the video loads. As for my thoughts, there's a difference, I agree that the BOR seems to run out of headroom at a certain bit, So why didn't you have a TS9 in front of both to stack that? :P Still, this isn't enough to make me buy one over a box of rock which I absolutely love as a base tone.
For me LPD Sixty8 all the way. It's more open, less compressed, less saturation.... If you want that add a compressor and / or light overdrive and I feel you can get the same sound of the Box of Rock out of it if you want, probably even sounding better imho.
Also, what even is a plexi? In my notes the Sixty8 is like a Marshall '68 JMP50. The La Grange is like a Amp (Marshall '65 Super Lead (EL34)) imho. The real contender? Europe's pride and joy and high in my amp-in-a-box-pedals list: Drybell's The Engine. Comes with a rangemaster circuit as well.
The LPD is clearer and the overtones are very detailed and well defined. It really does sound more 'real' tube amp. The 'Box' is a great dirt pedal in the same way a Fuzz came be great. It is simply it's own thing.
I LOVE my ZVEX Box of Rock (& my ZVEX DistorTRON for that matter) ... but that Sixty8 is definitely making my head turn! 🤣😂🤣

Another great demo! I liked the sixty8 better! 😁
Please try out a Bogner La Grange!!
Best marshall plexi in a box in my opinion!! Great video as always, greetings from Chile

I have a question? Why do you use the boost always on the right one?

Left player... no sense play for a demo...
Love BoR with the LP!
