Lucky man 👍 I upgraded to Cubase 13 in September, but don't have the free upgrade to Cubase 14 🥲 @DomSigalas, maybe I'll have it too? :) I'm the fan of Cubase from 2009. And didn't use another daw 😄
Cubase killed it with this update man. I was waiting for an update with the drums and pattern window because I use FL for drums through Cubase but this is hard. Game changer. I’m glad Cubase is paying attention to the producer community and coming up with tools that help make the production process smooth. Definitely buying this update.
The best update of Cubase since a very long time. The king is back! Dom please lobby to save drum machine with samples used to our choice of location so we can create a collection, same with sampler track 😊 thank you for a great presentation❤
finally steinberg!! now cubase can get back into the game of every genre. this makes producing in cubase fun again. these tools were needed for modern producers. im working on a beat in 14 rightnow and it brings back the fun in making music! make a video about the drumsynthesizer!!! the drumsynthesizers sounds for me like my elektron units! allready updated. thnx steinberg for listening to loyal customers.
As an 15 years cubase user i have to say that all the lower zone upragdes from the last versions are very ableton live inspired. Also the clip gain draw mode and the clip fadsr is inspiried by pro tools, great job steinberg bringing the best of all worlds for the users
As someone who bounces around between a lot of DAWs, I'm impressed how many of my "wish one of my DAWs had all these features" Cubase is starting to hit. :) The pattern editor reminds me a lot of FL's drum editor.
As a rock, prog and metal musician/producer, honestly, most of the major features are of no interest to me. I’m not complaining… I’m glad to see Cubase move forward in its development and introduce features for a large number of users. I will say that the ability to re-order tracks in the mixer view is worth the upgrade price alone (although frankly, this should’ve been a feature decades ago) and opening insert plug-ins with a key command is great.
I love modulating sounds with my Cable Guys Shaper Box & Filter Shaper, but SO often I've wished I could apply those modulations to ANY Plug-in or DAW parameter. This makes my day!!!! I suspect the new Cubase modulations will be more resource efficient, but I'll probably keep using my Shaper Box / Filter Shaper plug-ins along with the Cubase modulator. I imagine they'll still be very different tools that will both be useful situatively.
It was a hard decision for me at first to choose cubase over Ableton for the type of music I make (LoFi/EDM), but ended up going with cubase. So thankful I did now that they are adding everything that made me jealous of the Ableton features!
Very happy to have been a part of this since early this year when I joined the team. I’ve been wanting to talk about it for months but wouldn’t violate my NDA for anything. So glad it’s out now so that everyone can enjoy it. It’s fantastic!
It's amazing how excited one can be for a new software update. Steinberg can do this! This update is MASSIVE and thanks again for video's like this Don!
Steinberg has done a great job on this update. That modulation section is EXACTLY like I would like modulators to work. Same thing with the pattern event type. I don't get it why so many daws make something so simple so complicated. You just wanna lay your patterns in the fastest way, but typically what is getting in the way is too complicated approaches to handling velocity or probability, etc. And of course: Thank you for the video! This was a lot of work to put together.
It's great that you're looking at another German company's experience. Finally, Cubase is becoming more modern. Everything is very cool, keep going! One simple request - add more colors to the default palette and add grayscale, there's a really lacking color range, from black to white. Thanks in advance.
Dom! Thank you for your clear presentations and education along the way - all while introducing what's new... my skills are close to beginner, but your words encourage me...
A great overview of the new features. Thanks! Loving the update so far. Something else to mention as an under-the hood "feature" is that the update process is now super-smooth. I just moved up from Cubase 11 to 14. I remember back when I went up to 11 it was a quite complicated and stressful procedure, wrestling with the Download Manager, Library Manager, and eLicencer control centre to get all the right components to their latest versions and in the right locations. This time with the added step of moving from 11 with the elicencer system to 14 with the Steinberg Licensing system I was really apprehensive. It turned out to be a very straightforward process, and everything worked as expected straight away.
Yes the modulators probably bring me back to cubase fully. Only used it for mixing in the last years. Left a few years ago for ableton’s Max for life LFO and workflow. Good call Steinberg 👍🏻 The modulators look awesome! And the patterns too!
Actually, I for one appreciate the feature of reducing or increasing volumes on audio events because I was doing that by cutting audio events just to reduce a volume of small event. It is very useful and it will save time. The mini fader as well is a life saver.
It's an amazing update... I'm loving it!! There's a feature that I don't think you mentioned - the ability to add anything to the modulation lane of the pattern editor. So I can add my filter cutoff, or anything else. It's pretty close to parameter lock and doesn't have to be used with drums. I can create a nice pluck pattern and add synth functions to the mod lane. A really lovely feature to get the inspiration going. Thanks for covering C14 so well in your videos. I know where to come for anything Cubase! :)
the volume pluin is a god sent for automation because now you can automate it and afterwards you still have your fader for normal mixing and dont need trim. Throw the plugin post fader and bum. Usually I solved this with adding another vca fader to automate volume, which was annoying when I would need vca for another thing.
Ohhhhhh! At last, the editing of gain curves is as good as what it was in the awesomely old but fabulous Cool Edit Pro 1.2a from 1999!!! Been waiting 25 years!!
Wow, this is by far the best update since I got cubase! The modulation features are exactly what i’ve felt was sorely missing, and the logic-like lower window mixconsole will be a great workflow improvement.
This is amazing. I was hesitant for the 13 update but now when they literally single handedly integrated entire Ableton into it. I'M IN! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 PS: YES Dom, Do a separate video on each one of them, I will be there ❤🎉!!
This is exactly what an update should be brilliant work Steinberg you’re at last looking at creativity tools, you finally have my attention after not keeping up to date since 11 Pro. More of this
The only people who won't be absolutely stoked about all these features are hobbyists. These are seriously epic features and I can't wait to implement them into my workflow.
Thanks Dom for the video and for your enthousiasm! I started with Cubase SX in 2002.. then I spent a decade with Ableton, and swit switched back to Cubase à few years ago. Seeing Cubase 14 I definitely don't regret my choice to come back to my first beloved sequencer ❤
Cheers Dom! I'm truly hyped....what an update. Between you, Chris and Sappo you've all brought a permanent 'Cheshire cat' grin to my face. I cant wait to get my hands on this update for real. Happy Days!!
It's such a massive upgrade and I couldn't be happier! I'm glad that Steinberg has finally added modulators. That insert shortcut for plugins is great! My only gripe so far is that, there's no keyboard shortcut to open an empty insert slot to search for a plugin.
the pencil on the event volume was possible in previous versions of Cubase though... just not nearly as well done as this... awesome new update though! thanks for the vid Dom!
90% of these features are inspired by Ableton, including the autosave folder. It’s great to see Steinberg consistently striving to keep up with everything-huge W move from them!

Thank you Dom for that great video, lot of great new features, I finish my project on cubase 13 and jump to 14. Shimmer reverb, modulators with macro knob and envelope follower great, like on Montage M I can use them on all in cubase now, amazing!!!!🤩
this Drum Machine reminds me of the Logic Drum Machine, I really love all these features, I was eagerly waiting for Cubase 14 and I knew it would be a great update, I look forward to the next ones!
I'd like to see a video on the new Drum Track, particularly in relation to acoustic drums and how it fits in with VSTs like EZ Drummer and Addictive Drums and also its "humanisation" capabilities like velocity and timing randomisation. 👍
A great upgrade with no doubt to catch up with Pro Tools (Clip Gain, Volume Fader on clip) Studio one (Pattern Sequencer) Ableton Live (Modulators) but I still miss some very basic stuff like showing and sync folder tracks to Mix Console and editing fades (changing shapes and curvatures) on the clips and events themselves and not opening the fade editor for such trivial task which are common ground to any DAW I can think of. I'm pretty sure that we will see sooner a clip launch section like Ableton than the aforementioned workflow updates! C'mon Steinberg...
Iv been using Cubase since the beginning. Noticing a trend of less and less new features for actual musicians/studios recording with real instruments, real mic's and gear. Features have been leaning more and more towards programming. That being said I'm not sure what we would need in that realm, everything works pretty well for us as is.
I do really appreciate this update and the effort steinberg is putting to renew cubase slowly without changing it's dna, but... there are things that are still missing that i don't understand why no one talks about, like freezing every kind of track regarding of the routing. This feature seems a pretty small deal but it isn't during the final stages of a mix/master session or on scores.
OMG! This is the best DAW :)) I started with Fl. After, Cubase and Nuendo. Ableton too... Any DAw is good those days. BUT Switching back to Cubase for sure! :)) Big improvements in Scoring and workflows...GREAT! Very well done Steinberg! I am coming back to you :))
Stoked for this! And I was wrong a few months ago, you can record through plugins with very little latency, just not their vocal chain plugin because it’s too heavy. Obviously it was intended to be used post recording! Cubase is for sure a dope daw!!

I think this is a good update. The modulators are huge-a long awaited and much needed feature for any DAW to be called "modern"! But it's all the the little things too: 1. The cornucopia of region-editing improvement, including the new volume curves on events, is a huge timesaver. When you muted the range selection I shed a tear... 2. The volume plugin (I've always used Sonaklkss FreeG). I never automate on the channel's fader, I leave that for mixing only, don't want it "taken" by automation. 3. Couldn't help notice you have the screen real estate eater turned off :P
Hi Dom, wonderful video and tremendous Update! I bought the Update immediately!!! It would be nice to have a dedicated video on the new Score Editor, thanks you!!!
Bought it the same evening it was introduced. Best DAW ever. Now they just need to build an UNDO function for everything you touch. Faders, Plugins, Sends etc. Then its perfect
I am very impressed with the new drum track and drum machine; it combines many features together. A video that explains its functions in depth would be perfect, as well as how flexible it is regarding render in place when we want to export each drum element to a separate audio channel. When we've done some rough sound design within the drum machine, does it give the option to render everything dry without affecting the effects from the drum machine? BOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!
I literally just upgraded to Cubase 13 not that long ago...shows you how far behind I am! Some really cool quality of life features! I love that new Auto-save feature!
I am waiting for an integrated AI feature where you can write what kind of sound you are looking for, or as helper where you can write why the sound is sounding like that if it shouldn't be, so the AI will recognize all applied settings and plugins and it will answer with some suggestions what you could change... 🙌😍
As usual a very good and punchy video. Thanks a lot, you convinced me to upgrade. A video about the way to use the external fx would be really appreciated.
Thanks for the concise & enthusiastic update list Dom 👍 # 27 made me smile bigtime 😉 ( have they finally added ‘ save custom set ups ‘ for the audio connections ?? all the best & have a great day.
Best Cubase update in a LONG time. Cubase 14 really is above and beyond!
I totally agree!!! This version changes everything!
This update puts Cubase back on top again. No question, no doubt...
I Just bought Cubase 13, damn it! But... I got an email from Steinberg saying i'm entitled to a free upgrade to Cubase 14! That's awesome!

@@ilan50 Totally. I should upgrade from Cubase 12 to 14
Not only Ableton, Modulation systems looks more like Bitwig-inspired, and the drum step sequencer reminds me of Roland Zenbeats or Logic.

@@lonnyhandwork422 my thoughts exactly
This would have been a great video to add chapters to for easily jumping to the 30 different features. 👍
Steinberg basically added what I described (in depth) in their feedback/implementation form, from last year.
Definitely happy with the result!
Im curious...can you post a link to the feature request?

I literally just upgraded to Cubase 13 not that long ago...shows you how far behind I am! Some really cool quality of life features! I love that new Auto-save feature!
Thank you, Dom. One love 🔥
I am waiting for an integrated AI feature where you can write what kind of sound you are looking for, or as helper where you can write why the sound is sounding like that if it shouldn't be, so the AI will recognize all applied settings and plugins and it will answer with some suggestions what you could change... 🙌😍
Cubase got some Ableton and ProTools inspiration! Awesome!🎉
Holy Sh!t... This is INSANE!!!😱🔥
The volume curve edit update was sooo necessary...
As usual a very good and punchy video. Thanks a lot, you convinced me to upgrade. A video about the way to use the external fx would be really appreciated.
Always nice to learn cubase news from you, thanks Dom!
Awesome Awesome Awesome. Looks like I'm upgrading from 13 to 14.
Thanks for the concise & enthusiastic update list Dom 👍
# 27 made me smile bigtime 😉
( have they finally added ‘ save custom set ups ‘ for the audio connections ??
