Well being an Ableton live, bitwig and Cubase user, I can't help but notice subtle abletone like features and workflow improvements. Even the ui and feel. It's like more and more Daw companies are gravitating towards an Ableton likeness. I have seen it in traction waveform, bitwig heck even studio one with the clip launching features. Am not complaining though, am all for easier intuitive workflow it's just that am like what's up with that I don't know 😂. I like the bitwig esque features like modulators in there too. Clearly steinberg did their homework well and as someone who uses all three a very welcomed addition. Instant upgrade 🔥. Nice middle ground of a fun and technical daw.
The scoring of real-time playing is very impressive. Hopefully the importing of Dorico projects into Cubase will also come one day, although using midi import is pretty good… Thanks for a great video overview…
Bitwig still has the edge on modulation but I do like the view in Cubase where you can see/control all destinations. Though it would be better if you could see more at once instead of having to scroll through them.
Cubase in recent years did make a lot of progress, I think I am happier today than I was back with versions VST 3 or 5. I don't like Ableton at all and the only DAW that I really miss is Fruityloops (FL) due to its beat designing capabilities. It looks like Cubase 14 is going forward with the FL beat designing features. I think I like it a lot. The modulators feature is a big WOW!
Man FL is absolute garbage imo. Ableton 1 million times better. Only thing I would want from that daw is the drum sequencer. Throw everything else in the trash. It’s routing alone is like why
@byus6928 i don't know. Ableton is great and imho Cubase is the better DAW. I wouldn't trash FL, I think it is absolutely incredible in many ways and things I've done with it in the past still amaze me today. I think FL definitely deserves a place in the world of DAWs, but that's just my personal experience.
Reg. audio volume: your example in Cubase 13 really is fader automation (post-plugins etc), right? Where your example in Cubase 14 is clip gain (pre-plugins etc). They are similar, but not the same. If you put fades/curves on clip gain, and you've got distortion inserted on the channel, the change in audio level going into the distortion will change the sound. Not so with fader automation, since it's post-plugins (unless sends are post-fader, I guess).
Those new functions are nice. I would like to ask if the machine can separately every pads to different output tracks? Like the Drum designer in Logic Pro 11?
@@thomasshredster4627October 9, 2024. This means that anyone who has activated a Cubase version since this date is eligible for a free update to Cubase 14.
It's annoying they waited to darken the top bars in this release instead of just doing it in C13. But at least they finally fixed that. C12 had a better GUI overall imo as the fonts were larger and the Inspector UI items were taller, making them easier to see.
Hi I wonder if you can help me out with Cubase 14 I saw a video from dom siglas and he went to the media bay section and transposed a loop and when he drag and dropped it to the timeline it retained the transposition that he did in the media bay. Well when I do it it’s off key and not working correctly. I even dragged a drum loop from one of my sound kits that I have and it had the tempo information correct and it’s still off beat? So weird.. I opened studio one and ableton and I don’t have this problem at all so it must be something with the setting I assume? What setting do I need to check?
Make sure the sample rate is the same as the project sample rate. If not, convert the sample to the project sample rate. Or, you can let Cubase do this every time you import a sample by clicking the option to do that under Preferences.
Nice improvement! Too bad they didn't finally fix the articulation switch. It's comical to see Steinberg invent a completely revolutionary functionality and then watch others overtake him for ten years.
Frankly, while some of the stuff is nice, overall I am completely underwhelmed by this update! This is a .5 update at best, at a full update price. The better Dorico integration is the only new feature worth writing home about IMO.
Moving from 11 seems worth it now. I will likely upgrade. Im mlstly interested in the performance updates as Ive just built a new workstation around a 9950x so I'd like to get the most out of it.
@@MOSMASTERING Just testing and audio performance updates seem minimal, if existing at all, so far. But if it really works to identify causes for possible spikes, that's at least something ...
Update: I just had closer look at the new drum machine in Cubase 14, after initially thinking this was just a new groove toy. In fact it is a full blown Groove Tool, with sigificantly better workflow and functionality than former Beat Agent. So this update is much more significant than I thought at first glance.
CUBASE 14...Well... For the First time in my Cubase Life, since Atari St i will skipp a new Version! There is absolutely nothing new!! No Visual new effect...No even Steams on the fly, like separate Bass, Drums etc. Like in Studio One 7... DrumTrack? well i have Battery or even any Drum Samper...Also at least have Splice integration to, but nothing...m4a files not supported.. Where is the new thing? I will stay on Cubase13 at least November 2025. Very disapointing upgrade, very... Modulators? Please, for Normal Producers that have to do 2 songs per day? Not necessary. No new tech, nothing, but is just my oppinion...How hurted i am with this update...
Great video. Appreciate how well you highlighted the new features. This update was awesome. Had to buy it immediately.
Glad you like it :)
Excellent deep dive!
Thank you :)
Dude, this was the Best CB 14 feature video on YT, better than Ondo or Dom
Finaly they come back with real innovation, like they use to be decade ago👏👏
Couldn't agree more!
when u copy Ableton Live its not an innovation
yes! they listend.
if you really roll back, Ableton wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Cubase, historically wise.
They all copy one another, and we all gain from it 😊
defintly the most interesting update for ages !
i would have never expected them to adapt a modulation system, especially not before FL Studio or one of the more modern DAWs. Good work, Steinberg!
Bitwig is the king of modulators been doing it for a long time now
@williamshaneblyth bitwig is the DAW that probably inspired this, yeah
Some Ableton live and studio one nice features were added. Good move 👍
Cerainly!
And Bitwig with the Modulators.
finaly cubase had listend!! a real daw now! upgraded instant! time to make music again!
Finally modulators!!!!
That’s a big one!
What an elegant and useful review. Thanks!
Thank you :)
Nice one, great analyse 👍🏼
love the instant note to score option ..awesome

I thought that drum stuff looked like Ableton.
I quickly noticed the ableton look. Especially in the modulation
Nice Explain.
Thanks for watching :)
Proper Clip Gain and Selection Tool!!!! Hallelujah
Thank you for making this video
My pleasure!
Wow! Dawproject!!! Awesome 👍👍👍👍
I have been waiting for audio event volume options in Nuendo. Now we have more control! Yesss!!!! 😇😇
This is amazing! 👍👍👍

FIREE!!
Exciting
support for the DAW interchange format is what surprises me the most, which I believe was initiated by Bitwig also from Germany.
Yes it is Presonus & Bitwig behind this format.
I'm happy to see a pattern editor incorporated in Cubase like Logic Pro. They could have also integrated a proper drummer track.
Tha's the equivilant of the new drum machine.
I really love it, but I wish you could resize the lower zone in drum machine mode.
But you can open it in a seperate window :)

Cpu monitoring and drum machine are insane.

My example in Cubase 13 isn't fader automation. Watch it again :)
I wonder if its possible to use the modulators on a group channel? Therefore control more channels?
You can, but then you'll control only the summed output, not the individual tracks :)
you have the windows taskbar to autohide? because I cant find a (F11) full screen mode like on the other daws
Not that I know of...

You can do curves in between the pen tool points on automation on both 12 and 13 so not sure why you can't. I've been doing it for years!
In automation - of course. On the audio part itself (volume envelope) - not uptil now.
@@HagaiDavidoff Ah yeah, of course, you're right. Didn't realise you couldn't do that on the pen tool. I was confusing the two. Apologies!

I had a crush on BITWIG because of its modulators. Now no more!
The DAWProject implementation seems to be flawed as it doesn't import or export any MIDI controller information
Havn't tried that yet...
I do hope the old drum editor is still available.
Of course it is!
Looks great , but still no summing folder track ???!!
Nope. It's group dependent.
@@HagaiDavidoff oh man , c14 looks amazing but I really need summing folders !!!
What about keyswitches? Have they made it easier to use?
You do have expression maps to take care of that...
i dont event used 13 and its 14 out now ??
MODULATORS!
This like Ableton + Bitwig and Studio One mashup in steroid
Anyone thinks there will be a black friday offer in 3 weeks ?
The 2 last Year they had one , -30%

What's wrong with expression maps to handle articulations instead of keyswitches?
Expression maps are awesome!! 🎉
Can we install Cubase 14 on Mojave Mac OS ?
I hope there will be at last Full Screen in Cubase 14
nothing!
They did light and dark windows but not full screen
