  • 👋 In todays head to head comparison, we take a look at the 2024 Acura TLX Type S and the 2024 Audi S4! Be sure to check out the full detailed reviews on each car if you'd like to see more details and specs on these models!
The 2024 Acura TLX Type S is a luxury sedan that is also sporty! It's a great daily driver, has plenty of power and roomy for passengers. The 2024 Acura TLX Type S looks like a normal sedan (aside from this bold color combo), but underneath with the turbo V6, this is a powerhouse! The 2024 Acura TLX is a nice family style, everyday sedan that is comfortable to drive and very practical!
The exterior on the 2024 Acura TLX Type S has a great look to it and especially with this new grey and the bronze and red accents, makes it a sharper looking sedan! The interior is also nice with the bold red leather seats and some great technology to use! Acura in general isn't the most technology focused and that's great for a buyer who doesn't need all that. It's easy to use what is available and you have the creature comforts you would want for the price. The only thing missing is a heated steering wheel which would be nice.
Driving the 2024 Acura TLX Type S as a normal commuter is great. It's comfortable and smooth and even quiet in the normal settings. When you go into sport mode, the car livens up, the exhaust gets a bit louder, and the performance and handling is amazing. Definitely not something I was expecting, but this is a "Sportscar". It was amazing to see and feel how this Acura TLX can take the twisties that I put it threw! If you are looking for an understated sedan but want some performance, this Acura is a great option especially against some other more luxury focused and performance sedans. It definitely will give them a run for the money!
The newest 2024 S4 features a turbocharged 3.0L V6 with 349 horsepower and 369 pound feet of torque. The 8 speed automatic transmission send the power through the Quattro all wheel drive system and this is a fun car to drive! The S4 styling isn't all too out there. Very simple overall with just a clean look. Especially in Daytona Gray this S4 flys under the radar. The interior is very nice on the S4 Premium Plus. Really high quality Nappa leather with alcantara, carbon fiber and contrast stitching. Everything you touch along the interior of the S4 is super nice! I really loved the refined high quality interior. The navigation screen is a bit tacky looking just stuck on the dash and I can see how it looks a bit odd. Other then that the virtual cockpit looks nice with the massive display and the tech all works well. The S4 rides so smooth! Very powerful engine and it's fun to drive. It feels pretty fast even though the competition might have more horsepower. This was a blast to drive! Dynamic mode stiffens up enough to give you a fun to drive car, and the comfort modes relaxes everything to be a true luxury car. Good amount of space inside the S4 as well and this would really be a fantastic daily driver!

Good review. For me it's the TLX Type-S. I had an S5 with the 4.2L V-8 and it was a great looking car with solid handling, but I wouldn't call it fun to drive. Loved the sound of the V-8, too. I got a 435i GC afterwards and its personality was so different and i couldn't wait to hop in it to drive it every day. Never got that feeling in my S5. The Type-S is more similar to the 435i in personality though a bit heftier.
Constructive criticism: The selfie style filming while trying to get the shots of the two cars, and switching back and forth induces motion sickness.

It's not supposed to look like a 'sports car' It never has. All S4s have been subtle and that is a lot of the apeal. It just looks like a really nice Audi sedan to regular non car people, while being faster than the TLX and holding a candle to a V8 Mustang or Camaro.

    TLX:
Better value, more standard features for the money
    Better exterior styling (subjective)
    Nicer interior
    Better exhaust note (subjective)
    Better handling and AWD
    S4:
    Better engine
    Better transmission
    Better NVH
    Better switchgear
    Better infotainment
Better dealer experience (dependent on dealership)
Verdict: Make the TLX 400 pounds lighter and you have a world-class sports sedan. Right now, it only really appeals to people who either prefer the Acura’s external styling or prioritize value and long-term reliability. The Audi S4 is undoubtedly faster than the TLX and you’ll probably have a better experience at the dealer when you buy an S4 vs a TLX S. I just think the Audi has a very sterile look, both on the exterior and interior.

Let me start with I am a fan of Acura, I have a 2012 MDX with 140,000 miles and still going strong, car is solid, safe and is as comfortable as a couch. However, looking at the TLX, meh, it looks like a Honda and the cockpit is way over stimulating. A lot of tech does not make for a “fun” drive. I had an Audi A5 ( never had an issue) and as of last week I now have a S5. It’s as amazing to drive as it is to look at. Plus the fit and finish of an Audi is as perfect as it gets. I don’t love the S4 look, but the car is an absolute blast to drive. Audi Quattro speaks for itself.
