    I have a 23 TLX Type S. I’ve had it for about 2 months now. I test drive the M340i and I will admit, it is a much better car all around but sadly and good for Acura, not by much. At least the one I drove appeared like a “base” M340i. It just didn’t have that aggressive appearance for such an expensive car. The BMW motor is by far better but again, that V6 Turbo with all-wheel drive does not fall short. I gave up the extra 34HP on the M340i largely for the monthly payments, and overall the Type S is all decked out. To get an M340I to even LOOK like and Acura or get what it has, it’s almost 70k and I just couldn’t justify a lease payment of over 1k. So, the Type S FOR ME me was the closet to an M340i for now. Great review

      Let me also say, no regrets at all. Sure, should it have at least 380HP?? Absolutely because of the weight but man!! This car OVERALL what it has to offer it is truly a complete package and trust me, it’s hard to find something like this in todays expensive market.

      Thanks for sharing. You hitting some key points. For the price, it undercuts the 340i by a lot. The TLX gives just about everything but heated rear seats

      I truly respect your comment for I have a BMW 23 x3M40i that I strategically had it built from the factory that is well equipped, but not fully loaded, and my lease payments are a bit over a 1k, but I did not put any money down and I got a few more extra options. I am comfortable paying it, because cars are getting more expensive these days. It is what it is,and if you can afford it without breaking the bank, by all means, get it. The horsepower that BMW says on paper is not the actual horsepower figures for the engine. The horsepower figures are to the wheels; with that being said, I feel like the TLX should’ve had at least had 400ish to compete with the Germans , and Asian with a bit more in HP figures. Overall, it’s a nice looking car; it looks very aggressive , but cheats you out of performance. I feel like my x3 would give this car absolutely a fight down a straightaway

      @@Mr.Lambert777 i agree with you 100% and that is one of my biggest gripe of the brand (Acura) that they didn’t provide at least 380-400HP. I have been the first to admit, the TLX Type S CANNOT compete with the German rivals but I also admit, it’s close to the M340i and overall it competes in a fun way. BMW is BMW; it speaks for itself but man! Acura has been doing a great job over the last couple years especially with their performance versions of their cars

      @@francysantos1916 I apologize for the typos. I should have proofread my comment before posting it ,but I did ,however made some edits lol. I agree with you. Acura has done a great job with the TLX , MDX integra ! Acura is definitely doing better than Infiniti even though Infiniti is trying to make a comeback, but Infiniti has given the Q50 a 400 hp engine ,but the tech sucks. I am glad that you do not have buyers remorse, because I definitely don’t ! Enjoy your S type ! I am definitely enjoying my Bmw.

    Great Review.. I drove a type S this past weekend and found all the same stuff you pointed out. I'd rather the type S over the A-spec, but this whole VCM system they use in their 6's and have to put in a VCM tuner or Muzzler to fake out the system makes me rethink getting the 6 cyl and going with the 4 cyl A-spec to avoid issues...

    Great review. I've watched tons of reviews for this car and yours is one of the best; straight forward and unbiased. You didn't miss anything. Liked and subscribed man. I love the exterior design of this car. However interior is definitely cramped and bulky center stack is good description. Hate that stupid track pad so much. I have a 2019 RDX with the track pad and it's very frustrating. I could overlook those few negatives, but the gas mileage is really what's preventing me from buying this car, as I don't want to be at the gas station every other day. Sticking with my 2007 Type-S as my daily driver for now- it still drives like a champ.

      400hp/400lb-ft would suffice. Doesnt need to be the fastest in the segment, just needs a bit more power to mitigate that curb weight. Sidenote: the A-Spec with a Phearable stage 3 tune (and no other mods) is good for 300 hp/357 lb-ft at the wheels.

      @QueTheChaotic It's bigger than all the compact cars, its just lacking interior space due to design. Cars like the Tlx Type S can't really brag about being equal to the 540i and e450 so marketing has it goes against the m340i and s4. Cadillac did the same thing with the ct5-v.

    Owner of a 2024 TLX Type S checking in. Yes, i do believe the car is underpowered.
    The car weighs 4200 lbs (as you know).
    This isnt a SPORT car, its just a really nice sedan.
    It actually has simular power to weight as a 10th gen 2.0 accord. (Not that quick)
    Compare the power to weight ratio of this 350hp and 4200lbs, to most other SPORT cars, and you'll see it is, in fact, technically underpowered for a SPORT car.
    I didn't buy this car to be my SPORT car, i bought it to be the ultimate daily driver for a sporty driver (like myself).
    If we're getting nit-picky, you keep saying the TLX isnt as fast as other cars, but it actually is. FAST is speed, this car tops out at like 155mph. Thats pretty FAST.
    What this car isn't is QUICK, which is what most people actually care about. Quickness is acceleration, and that is where this car is lacking (kinda).
    Finally, the truest testament to this cars quality is that everyone keeps comparing it to cars that are objectively out of its league. Thats because if you compare it to its ACTUAL competition, it blows them all out of the water. (So all the reviewers have to keep comparing it to the M340i unjustly to give it any competition)

    • @QueTheChaotic
      @QueTheChaotic  4 месяца назад

      What is the actual competition?

    • @megatrolltrollington

      @QueTheChaotic
      According to Acura's website...
      1. Audi A4
      2. BMW M330i
      3. Infinity Q50
      4. Lexus IS 300
      5. Audi S4
      6. BMW M340i
      7. Genesis G70 3.3T
      Frankly, i missed the fact that they DO list the M340i as a competitor. If that is the case, i would say it loses here. Still, its the cheaper option by like 10K (not counting maintenance). (Also, i hate the TV stand on the M340i's infotainment screen 🤢)(i also hate that its near impossible to get ventilated seats on a M340i. Waay too many sacrifices for 10K more. I live in Texas, ventilated seats are a must)
