    Mine (normal) GS 2017 does the same exact noise. Bought it used from BMW dealership. Just found out about the noise after purchase when I was driving it for a whole day.
    When I was test riding it, didn't noticed but it was there for sure. Had it in 3 different dealerships... they all said it's normal.
    Was driving around like this for 10k km now without issues.
    For the 1250 GS there's an updated chain tensioner after replacing it it seems to be gone on the 1250s.
    The noise is very very annoying.

      Problem was solved by changing intermediate shafts + bearings to the new ones, they were worn out on both sides, slightly more on the left. Now it’s ticking like all others. Did ~7000km with replaced parts already, seems to be ok. This is the problem of ALL LC boxer motors. It will appear sooner or later to all of them because of motor head design fail. Thanks God i have 5 years warranty, so all parts were covered by warranty.

    I just got a 2018 & it rattles badly when hot. Noisy SOB. Bad engineering by BMW, clever marketing. Won’t keep mine long, bag of *hit.
    I’ve got a 2006 Bandit 1200, the old oil / air cooled engine way nicer then this pile of German junk.

    • @juliusspiritus
      @juliusspiritus  4 месяца назад +1

      depends on what noise it is, but anyway - worth to remove head covers and check if there is a freeplay of the intermediate shaft (need to remove chain tensioner before)

    Could be throttle body ticking or chain tensioner. Engine sounds fine

      @@milesonwheels8127well, these “new” LC motors are total crap. I would say, you can start looking new heads from 2015-2016 models, because it could be so that the places (or holes) where intermediate shafts are fixed, are worned out, so it can be so that you need : a) make a new shaft with sligtly bigger diameter at the end and mill the head accordingly, b) change the heads c) drill small 6mm hole to the head, make a thread and screw there fixing bolt. In my case those holes in the head were ok, so dealer just replaced new shafts and put new needle bearings.

      No, it was not normal, so I bring motorcycle to the dealer, they replaced intermediate shafts and bearings on both sides of the engine. ~8000km done with replaced parts, seems to be ok for a while…

    • @juliusspiritus

      Are you sure you have the same issue as mine, intermediate shaft bearings worn out?? If yes, then i already pasted a link with bearings (originally you can’t buy them from BMW as a separate product and they come together with the whole unit). And you need both new intermediate shafts as well. You can buy them from BMW.
