    The one thing that sherrifs department won't be able to do as law enforcement agencies routinely have done with other black men they've killed, is use this young man's past against him to justify his death. He was an Airman in the United States Air Force who worked in Special Ops. I don't trust FL law enforcement to do an objective, unbiased investigation into this. By him being a member of the US Air Force, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) which is the primary investigative law enforcement unit for the Air Force, and comprised of Federal agents will have a hand in the investigation of this killing. Hopefully, they will get answers, and justice for this young man and his family.

      One thing to consider also is that the AF was paying BHA so there may be a way to say that his apartment was being supplied by the AF, meaning the police killed him in a government facility. That might be a stretch but if could be possible to bring federal charges since it is highly likely the sheriff will investigate themselves and find they did nothing wrong.

    They should pass a law that mandates at least 3 independent address checks performed by other officers. They have to document that the address is correct and put their name on it . Disciplinary action if wrong house entered regardless of outcome. LEOs still have too much authority in some areas. This stuff is reckless negligence. I would check that address a million times, seems like common sense.

    Since when does a disturbance call warrant bursting into a home without identifying themselves as law enforcement?

    • @quavera
      @quavera 4 месяца назад

      Bodycam footage was released and shows that the attorneys statement is completely false. As seen in the footage, the deputy announced they were law enforcement twice out loud, the male inside is heard saying the word "police", the peephole was NEVER covered as claimed and before the door was opened, the deputy was out in plain view in front of it, and finally the deputy never "burst into the home".

    • @scotttaylor9133
      @scotttaylor9133 4 месяца назад

      The cop didn't burst in, he knocked first and crouched out of view of the peep hole with pistol drawn. When that didn't work he yelled 'police up the door' while repositioning to the other side of the door, still out of view. You can hear the kid saying 'they say they're cops but I can't see them' or something similar. I have no idea why this cop approached a noise complaint like he was arresting Gotti or enforcing a warrant on El Chapo. Because of that I can't see how this isn't just a murder. Plain and simple.

    Self defense vs self defense. A person at home has a constitutional right to defend themself and own a firearm. As far as the video shows, the airman was in the right. Why the deputy would just murder him like that is totally beyond my comprehension, except for the fact that every police department and sheriff's office is training their staff to shoot first and ask questions later because dead people can't testify and they can't sue. Great world we live in right now where even if you're a law abiding citizen, you'll still be murdered by a cop. Cops: Any doubt in your mind left as to why we hate your guts? Any?

    • @scotttaylor9133
      @scotttaylor9133 4 месяца назад

      The only one of the two that showed ANY restraint (from the body cam footage) was the homeowner. The cop just auto-murdered this guy. The guy was standing, armed to defend his home and family (because he could not visually verify it was a cop and someone claiming to be the police but hiding from view doesn't remotely sound right to me either) if needed against someone he could not verify wasn't an intruder intent on harming them.

    If it was only a disturbance call. Why didn't police notify that they were there, like they normally do.. if he would of knew that police were at his door... he wouldn't have made the decision to grab his gun.

    • @scotttaylor9133
      @scotttaylor9133 4 месяца назад

      Right, because the cop was hiding from the peep hole the whole time. When they wouldn't answer to just the knock he identified as police, but repositioned on the other side of the door keeping out of view of the peep hole. The homeowner only knew someone was hiding, beating on the door, and claiming to be police. The officer had his gun drawn before he ever knocked.
      The bodycam footage is very damning, it clearly shows a cop that wasn't there to talk.
      He was there for a noise complaint. In an APARTMENT COMPLEX. Those are very common and very commonly baseless neighbors bickering because they have to live so close to one another.

The fact that the police refused to announce themselves and stood outside the line of sight of the peephole, shows that there was an intent to invade.
      If the complex was located in a predominantly black neighborhood, that could be a factor in the officers choice to use this level of aggression and deception with a complete disregard for life.
      Even if they were at the correct unit, they shouldn’t have been so aggressive and ready to kill. What if there is a baby or child present?

      to my understanding no warrant for search or arrest. A neighbor called in a noise complaint that she said 'might be domestic violence'. So not exactly solid ground to go in guns a blazing from my experience. The kinds of neighbors that complain are not always the most...trustworthy. Watch the body cam footage, the cops started the whole interaction expecting a gunfight. I cannot fathom remotely why based on what I've heard about it.
      The homeowners should not have answered the door PERIOD. But shouldn't have answered with a weapon, although I think this cop was going to kill whoever opened that door, and just got lucky that his acting dodgy enough that the homeowner was scared and armed when he did.
      Don't open the door for cops, don't talk to cops. They're not there to help.

It's like the biggest threat to a gun owner is having your gun when an overzealous unannounced cop kicks down your door when it's dark.
