- The U.S. Air Force service member who was shot and killed by a Florida sheriff's deputy earlier this month was laid to rest Friday. the funeral for Senior Airman Roger Fortson happened at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest before a long procession on I-20 to his final resting place at Lincoln Memorial Cemetary in northwest Atlanta.

When a police officer is killed in the line of duty hundreds of officers from all over the state come and support him and his family over this senseless death. How many law enforcement officers showed up to show the family that they support this beautiful young man that was killed.

Finger clearly not on the trigger, 3.) Left hand raised as if to say "hold on a second officer", 4.) No verbal warning was given by the officer to drop the weapon, although I know he doesn't have to, he should have seeing the position of the weapon, Instead he just jerked his gun and started shooting, meaning he was SCARED from the get go!!! 5.) Officer fired 6 rounds before ever voicing anything further verbally

Who sent the officer to that door and when it was from the police office why did he talk to the young kid in the lobby of the apartment building in the video footage?
Find the full body cam. A manager tells him to go to 1401 for a disturbance and that's where he goes. He yells he's the cops and the IDIOT meets him at the door with a gun in his hand. Not smart, I don't recommend anyone do this when law enforcement is at your door.

@@rosea5864LEO did not announce himself the first time he pounded on Roger's door. LEO was also not visible from the peep hole until final last knock. Roger was playing video games and facetiming with his girlfriend while this was happening. he didn't hear or see who was at his door. LEO was also going off of, "fourth-party information" as stated by dispatch in initial call. female was not certain of location the first two times she was asked by LEO. going off of half-ass information, LEO should have exercised a whole f*cking lot more diligence and discretion. in an age where criminals pretend to be LEO's, Airman Fortson had every right to answer his door armed. at no time did he raise his weapon.

Man this is sad and tragic. I don’t think Roger was a bad guy but he got himself killed by opening the door with a gun in his hand to a police officer. Anybody with common sense knows that would not end well.

My condolences to this young man, but why would he open a door holding a gun in his hand after the police ID himself verbally and with hard knocks on the door. The officer did everything right as far as training, are we to percieve that this officer did not believe his life was not in danger after he identified himself and the person on the other side of the door opens the door with a gun in his hand? Who would tell their child, if you hear a loud knock on the door, and the person knocking says he's the police, and you don't believe it, open the door with your gun pointing to the ground , is this what you would tell your child to do?

Ummm there is very solid facts: you can look up the full body cam footage on RUclips and it will show you from start to finish what happened. The deputy shot him because “this young airman” pulled a gun on him when he opened the door. I don’t know why Roger did that but that is indisputable fact.
@@lennysmith8851Airman Fortson didn't "pull a gun" on LEO. he was holding it in his hand pointed at the floor, no finger on trigger. holding a gun in your hand is not the definition of a "deadly threat". by that standard, a hunter in the woods can be shot because he's holding a gun. Okaloosa is a f*cking clownshow of a sheriff's office - unloading on their own vehicle with someone inside because another LEO mistook a falling acorn for a gunshot. i understand "backing the blue", but they are not infallible. i'm a USAF veteran. if you wrong one of us, you wrong us all. and this was wrong.
@@LoneWolfAnnie a hunter in the woods holding a rifle is not the same as somebody opening the door with a pistol in their hand to a police officer that has announced himself. That was a bad decision by Fortson and it got him killed. And yes holding a gun in your hand is threatening in nature. It’s why you and 99% of gun owners don’t open the door to police officers the way Fortson did. It’s common sense.

Yes he does and it's obviously legal since he was in the Air Force.. furthermore his firearm was to his side it was not raised! That is legally considered not a threat.
