- As you may know, for the longest time we have been contemplating getting a puppy! Not only a puppy but a Great Dane Puppy! We are so excited to finally have her home..enjoy our new chaotic life :)

I have had several Great Danes over the years and they are awesome dogs, sweet, gentle, protective and hilarious! The last one was a 6 week old male that was housebroken on the first day, believe it or not!
I blocked off the kitchen and sat with him while he played with a toy and the first time he squatted to pee, I said NO, picked him up and took him outside. After that, he would go to the door and whine to go outside, I was amazed! He never had an accident in the house from then on, I couldn't believe it, he actually housebroke himself at 6 weeks old!
Would love an update on willow and to hear all about how training went with her 🐾

So happy for you. Puppies are like babies, never wake them , they grow when they sleep.

Make sure you don’t give her too much meat too soon, they could become addicted and refuse their kibble. Instead slowly introduce meats into their kibble diet 👍
My dogs had only meat for a few months, they don't wanna eat kibble anymore now....just kidding, don't mix meat with kibble it's bad for digestion
yup big mistake i made with my puppy. since im just a kid and i feed my dog i gave him a loy of wet food and meat to soon, when we ran out of wet food he absolutely refused to eat just the kibble. smh- so spoiled
@@jewel7338 definitely not spoiled, raw meat and wet foods are a lot healthier than the processed carbs that are in kibble. You should be happy that they prefer to eat what is better for them

It’s better for their health because it prevents ear infections
My family had a Labrador for almost 13 years and as long as you wipe the ears whenever they get dirty they’re fine. We never had a problem with ear infections.

the slow-feeder is so necessary! When my ex and I adopted Thor (the greatest dane there ever was btw), his foster mom gave us one and I'm still grateful for that
She is perfect!! It is going to be so fun watching her grow up 🥰
A lovely video. Willow is gorgeous, just like her new Mum. I feel she will have the best Mum and Dad ever. All us dog lovers know how special DOGS are, as life without a dog seems to be a little empty. No matter how big Willow gets, she will always be SPECIAL, as she is your FIRST BABY. I hope that she has a long and happy life with you both. Have fun with her, cheers.

She is so precious! My husband and I 2 both are female, 1 is 3 and the other is 9 week old. Great Danes are an amazing breed.
What a cutie. Your going to hear conflicting information and opinions on various topics. Thoughts and practices can change. Follow your instincts and ignore those that bicker. You love and will do what is best for her. Enjoy and take lots of pictures and videos. We've had our girl for nearly 2 years now. She is wonderful with my family and loves my grandchildren. She'll lay down and watch my 3 year old grandson drive his matchbox cars around. She even allowed him to use her body at a mountain to drive on the last time he stayed the night.

hi! i have a lot of experience with puppies and we just got a nother one a few months ago and i wanted to recommend bully sticks for chewing, they are the only thing that will keep my pups occupied for long periods of time and they have so many health benefits, you can also get holders for them that slow them down and make them not as gross to look at as they chew them down! good luck with your new pup!

Our Great Dane Odin is 5 months and he loves the Merrick treats but it gives him the nastiest toots lol. Also, we are feeding our pup Nutro large puppy breed but thinking of switching him to all natural, let me know how that goes with Willow.

I got a labradoodle puppy a month after this was posted and we named her Willow

What is the book called? I am looking at getting a great Dane puppy in like a year or so and want to know as much as possible.
My friend has two Great Danes the youngest one is 100 pound and is 8 months old and all black and the other one is 1 year old grey Merle and is 150 pounds they are so sweet
Carna4 is the best kibble. Orijen is still very good but had some cases against them.
Willow is more of a daddy’s girl in the thumbnail lol.
Don't be guilty if u take her away from er siblings ts prolly a good thing there is this thing were if he puppies stay with their siblings might end up fighting and sometimes it leads to death also they could bond too much and not bond with the owner

My dog started at the crate and now is at my bed with her own bes at my room so she is the owner. I don’t like to keep them in that cage it’s not nuce for them.
its actually really good to have your dog crate trained.
as long as your dog is crate trained and stuff its fine for them to sleep on the bed though.

feeding them on a raised platform could cause bloating which is common in great Danes, be careful

Sorry I have had 4 danes and my wife is a vet nurse. Dogs should not eat like humans. Kibble is some of the worst dog food. Please read and learn and not what utube science says. I have had years with these dogs. My 1st one lasted till she was 14.
What should you feed them?
@@bekahbogenholm11Hi there, this is the wife and I recommend a high quality dog food. I would never put a dog on a raw diet for a multitude of reasons. However, that being said, he may have been unintentionally misleading when he said "kibble". As such, all of our danes have either been on Purina Pro Plan for large breeds or currently, they are on the Costco salmon and sweet potato diet. They all are in perfect weight and they're coats are very shinny. The dog foods produced now are far superior to the kibbles and bits or ole roy of the past. I have been through many a class with the vets I worked for regarding nutrition and the dog food now, again of a higher quality, is more than sufficient for their dietary needs. If you add cooked vegetables or some cooked meats, that's totally fine but not required. The best thing to do is consult your vet and follow what they recommend. Hopefully they have experience with large and giant breeds so they are intimately familiar with the growth patterns and requirements for dogs like ours.
@@justinstephens72 I’m a vet nurse, same as your wife and I honestly highly recommend a raw diet for dogs with cooked rice, an egg or two raw and come cooked vegetables. Meat protein in the afternoons and meaty bones in the morning.
