    I love her feel. She has such a driving groove. I also saw her first on "count me in" and she was such a cool part of the documentary. My favorite part of the lesson was the fills and hearing her admit she was scared to do that documentary. Imposter syndrome is real!!!!!

    she is... INCREDIBLE!!!! I think SO many people needed to hear her message of not stressing out and enjoying the drums, its so easy as a new drummer to get overwhelmed by the insane drummers on social media. what Jess shows is insane driving beat with simplicity that anyone can lock in with a few months of practice. i cannot stress enough how helpful she is!!!

      I just saw this chick denying that she didn't know who Rage Against the Machine was lol. If you are any kind of musician then you should know who these Geniuses of the 90s were. She didn't even know the song Bulls on Parade if you were born underneath a rock or your 5 years old then you should know who this group is. I think she's just blowing smoke up y'all's ass lol. Because she's definitely old enough to know who they are.

      This girl is definitely not iconic lol. If you are going around saying that you don't know who Rage Against the Machine is then you really don't know your music, or have been on mars, or have been in a basement kidnapped for 30 years and finally resurfaced. Then going on RUclips. My 13 year old nephew knows Rage Against the Machine lol. To me if you're a true musician you should know the history of iconic musicians especially some of the best legendary rock groups such as RATM and the song Bulls on parade lol. Your not iconic if you have no idea who the legends of rock from the 90's are. I don't believe her at all lol.

    Hearing Jess play and seeing how much fun she was having while doing it was worth the lesson alone, but definitely enjoyed all the tips and tricks. My favorite part of the lesson for me was hearing Jess talk about by adding "a little something" to spice up a song can be something as simple as just changing the playing surface and adding dynamics. Thanks for the Drumeo lesson!

  • @attilaroo
    @attilaroo 8 месяцев назад +3

    My favorite part of the lesson was something that was shown, not told, and that's her right foot technique. The way she's keeping her heel in the up position so she can collapse down for a powerful heel toe when she wants it, and she's driving the entire weight of her leg from the hip down for a powerful smack into that batter head. As a drum teacher this is one of the hardest concepts to teach and have a student consistently adhere to it, she put on a master class in it.

    My favourite part is actually at the beginning of the video where she says that simple is better. As someone who’s a feel drummer that was thrown into a metal/punk band, hearing her say that makes me feel a lot better about not having to play exactly what’s on the record. And that maybe it’s okay to dumb down some insane drum parts from time to time. 👍🏻❤

    My dad was a working drummer through the 70s and early 80s, small stuff... I started playing in my 20's and the first thing my dad told me was, son, nobody goes the the bar gigs to hear the drummer! Haha that eventually evolved to exactly what you were talking about, tasteful fills, don't over play everything, use the high hat more. Totally awesome insight and connected a lot of dots to what I experienced as a young drummer. You rock!

I think Travis Barker is a great drummer but there are many times when I'm like can we just hear some more of the song instead of 18 fills every bar. One thing I wondered about as the conversation progressed ... the dynamics piece was excellent and stated me wondering about tempo and playing either just ahead or just behind the "beat" ... to either "drive" the song as it builds or to lay back just a little, to build tension ...
    Are there any videos Drumeo has already produced that speak to this "method" ..? I'd be very interested in watching any. And it seems to me like Jess IS doing this as she plays ... anyone else picking up on it ..?

But he explained the mics need consistant hits and later when mixed the fader will become my dynamic, he said to save it for live! I was drumming against the grain of what i knew to do and it was a challenge to break from dynamics. I had to have constant reminder fom the other rom to stay loud, even though it was a soft part!
