Michael Jordan: Ultimate Artistry; Last Dance Tribute Mix

  • This channel exists because in 1982, I first watched Michael Jordan and immediately knew he was the GOAT, and so I recorded all his games from thereon. I made these three Michael Jordan Artistry mixes 14 years ago for this channel which I started in 2006 just when RUclips was born, and because of The Last Dance documentary, I'm coming out of retirement and re-uploading them in one long video, along with some new edits (most of which begin at 11:52) and different music. My equipment may not be as slick but my vision remains. Long live The One, who still inspires me to this day because art and genius are timeless. Please enjoy!

      yep. it is pretty gross to see all those ignoramus now all of a sudden talking about jordan with their typical copy and paste comments when this conversation has been around for 14 years on youtube ( and even more on some forums before youtube). I remember the level of excitement to see hoops uploading rare footages from his own tapes far exceeded the entire last dance combined. I love seeing jordan and other cursing on the screen but basically the last dance provide nothing that most hardcore fans didn't know about. and those so-called '500 hours' of rare footages were more like 10-20 mins max throughout the entire series. i hope i am not the only one disappointed by it.
      it is hard to believe that it has been 14 years. glad to see all the old names still being active!

      @@popeyeisgood I have really mixed feelings overall. On one hand I loved the documentary series BUT I was also disappointed because that there was just so much stuff that they skipped over and the "new" footage was minimal. In reality they actually only featured maybe 10 games from the 1998 regular season but they missed out so many great games like when MJ went on a streak in late December early January and scored 47, 41, 33, 44, 34 and 44 just before Pippen came back. It was that stretch of games that took the Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference before Pippen returned.
      Instead we got the story about how they struggled early in the season and then Rodman stepped up until Pippen came back and then it was the allstar game. Then they skipped over the whole second half of the season like Jordan's game winners against Toronto and Atlanta and his last game against Barkley, Olajuwon and Drexler in Houston. They also skipped over the entire 1996-97 season.
      I was even a bit disappointed in game 6 of the 1998 finals because MJ had 23 points in the first half and was on fire after Pippen got injured to keep the Bulls in the game. I think we saw one MJ 3 pointer from that whole first half.
      I think they could have made it a 20 part series. People are still wanting more. I am looking forward to see game 6 the film tomorrow though.

      @@jxn23 agree completely of what you said. i was really hoping they filmed some their practice games but you only saw a few shots of them doing drills and warm up. with a series title like this they should have made it a lot more detailed with how to sort of riding that roller coaster a bit in 98. the scott burell stuff is cool but i want to see more practice footage. i bet many of us would not complain if they just put up an unedited/ never aired section of their practice game for 5 minutes with no commentary.
      i also feel like they did the first 3peat bulls dirty but not putting much weight onto those seasons. they put too much emphasis on guy like steve kerr. i would take a prime paxson and bj over kerr any day and yet kerr was probably the most interviewed dude other than pip/rodman and jackson. i would think that during the 2nd 3 peat, harper and kukoc were mere important that kerr anyway. it is basically an extremely biased and incomplete history of jordan's nba career. they missed out the scottie pippen all star game which was important to the story. they also wasted so much time talking about the gambling stuff which to me was a snooze fest. like you said, those in-game footages were piss-poor and didn't illustrate what really happened accurately. the last two episodes were just too predictable and boring.

    Wonderful job. You are the very best. Have you ever considered doing a video series the focuses exclusively on the 4 consecutive years the Bulls faced the Pistons in the playoffs, including regular season games? Reason I ask is because I believe that the lessons he learned during those 4 seasons facing Detroit are what made him the champion he became later. All during those 6 championship runs, no matter how tough it got, Jordan and the team had that experience with Detroit to serve as their competitive foundation, and no adversity they faced after those Pistons teams ever actually equaled those Pistons teams. With your knowledge and command of how to paint an accurate picture of Jordan's true otherworldliness, I've always felt that you are the one person that could properly tackle that challenge. Such a series of videos would be unmatched, in my opinion. I grew up in Chicago and was in my teens and late teens during those years, and remember them very well. Would really love to help contribute. Please reach out, if you would it'd be an honor.

      @@hoopsencyclopedia I believe that Pistons-Bulls rivalry was the greatest in team sports I've ever seen in my lifetime. All of the other great ones in sports were damn fine, but after all was said and done, there was a mutual respect that sort of overrode the dislike borne out of competition. However, that wasn't the case with the Pistons and Bulls. I have always found their rivalry, and specifically the way the Pistons approached taking on Jordan, fascinating. Being a native of Chicago and old enough to understand at the time, with each year that passes I enjoy going back and watching those full games. I think they capture the absolute purest form of competition I have ever seen in my lifetime. Just remembering here: After the Bulls stunned Detroit in game 2 of the 88 series, I specifically remember how the Pistons just dialed up their game in Chicago for games 3 & 4. It was really like men against boys. Then in the clinching game 5 back at Pontiac, the Bulls dug in and fought, but I remember the Pistons really never seemed to be bothered all that much. They had a confidence, an air about them, that they had acquired through tough battles with Boston over several years.

    • @SECRETARIATguy224
      @SECRETARIATguy224 4 года назад

      @@hoopsencyclopedia I've always felt very strongly that by far the single most important year in Jordan's basketball life was the 88-89 season. To the outside world the Bulls stunning the Cavs and upsetting the Knicks to get to the EC Finals made the Bulls the Cinderella story of the playoffs, BUT Jordan absolutely KNEW that, in his mind, they HAD to get to at least the East Finals that year or the powers that be were gonna break up that team, and he would be facing another 2-3 year rebuilding effort just to the point where they could get to the 2nd round again. Of course, he wanted to win, but for his championship arc to continue upward, Jordan knew that they needed to not only get to the East Finals, but to give Detroit a run for their money.

      @@hoopsencyclopedia Watching game 1 of that series (89 East Finals) is mesmerizing to me, not because of Jordan. He played a great game, got the rest of the team involved, and the Bulls stole the 1st game of the series in Detroit, but what amazed me about that game was how after the Bulls got off to a huge lead in the 1st quarter, from that point on the Pistons just kept steadily coming back, and even though the Bulls held on to win, it really felt like they were hanging on for dear life in the last 5-6 minutes of that game. That was the thing about those championship Pistons teams: they just NEVER quit. Ever. And they also never beat themselves. Even though they lost game 1, I remember seeing Chuck Daly on the bench in the closing seconds of the game with a smile on his face. It was like he just KNEW that they would win that series, even then.

    I love the lyrics of the song being played for the last few minutes of this video: "Don't think about all those things you fear, just be glad to be here." They pretty much sum up MJ's career in regards to his so called competition.

    Edit. Is that track from The Thing?! One of the best, if not the best, scifi horrors of all time. In my top 10 films.
