This is the only tutorial I found that is a TRUE tutorial. I was really appreciative of you actually showing and describing the technique- up close. I think other tutorials don't go into this much detail because they have done it so many times, they just assume we know things or think we can understand just by watching? But sometimes you need to show it and describe it- like the "feathering, just over the surface".

you need to try mixing goldwell color thickener into your lightener! it makes balayage consistancy without weakening the lightener

Do you recommend foils ? I was going to do a full balayage root melt and I was going to take the product half up with bleach using flat foils and then take the melt and blend them together and I was gonna use 10 volume
Yes, if you watch the entire video I do say that you can/should put it in foil. This video is strictly demonstrating how to stroke on the lightener and mixing thickness of the product.
Nice!! How long did she process for and did you put the bleached sections in foil?
I processed for 30 mins and for the purpose of this video I did not use foil to show the visual strokes of my lightener.
Which lightner were you using that is clay drying to avoid cotton or foil?
For the sake of the video demo I used clay lightener mixed with regular lightener so you could see the stroke pattern. For more lift I always use regular lightener mixed to a pancake batter consistency :)
Do you have to have clay lightener? If you used a different kind of lightener would you use foils somehow?
Isabella Hyde you don’t have to use clay lightener. You can you regular lightener and foils. I just used this method for visual demonstration purposes.

Can this be done with highlift permanent color? Just to go up a level or 2.
Color and bleach have different consistencies. You wouldn't be able to sweep it on like how you would bleach. You could try but it would be a unpredictable outcome.
I find it sooo hard to not end up with a dark root blonde ends ...how do u keep some ends dark x
By leaving some hair out of the lightener :)

Thats a very vague question. That depends on your hair type and what color you're trying to achieve.

Hi! Glad my video helped :) but the word " taut" that I am using is the correct term for the action that I'm displaying.
Here's info from the dictionary
Taut: adjective
stretched or pulled tight; not slack.
"Taunt" is not the correct term because that term refers to " a remark made in order to anger, wound, or provoke someone".

Correct. Balayage is not a technique that saturates the entire hair. It wouldn't be balayage if you did so.

I gave a demo of what you're looking for as you eyeball. Every bleach and developer is different. Therefore I can't give a specific measurement.
