- The nod-offs or nod outs are a huge part of opioid addiction. Almost every person in active addiction who uses downers will have nod-outs and nod-offs at some point during their addiction.

To me the nod out was almost like a psychedelic in between state between sleep and wakefulness dreams and visions are more visible and and it’s more of a euphoric rest
Yes to me is same
But it's seems impossible to function in this noddig thing and how much is lasts?
@@ofirvvv4566 depends my nod from heroin was the most intense ,. I woke up dreaming for hours. it is not exactly a dream like state more like a pictorial thoughts.
@@ofirvvv4566 it sounds boring, it is hard to explain in words. I had those experiences but not any more it is stupid.
@@danny_89 yeah I think cannabis it's better and more interesting...🤔
You’re one of the first people I’ve heard mention how difficult it is to actually sleep on opioids. I could never sleep on them, I would just stand in my bathroom for hours nodding in and out of consciousness. Sometimes, I’d come to as I was falling over, other times upon impact. My partner could almost never get me to lie down in bed and truly sleep. I would eventually run out, and then just crash from exhaustion and wake up 24+ hours later, dazed and in withdrawal, with sore ankles and feet and often bruises and scrapes. I get anxiety when I think of the damage I did to my brain and body, not just from the drugs, but from the lack of quality sleep on a semi-regular basis. Thankfully, I’m drug and alcohol free now, and I feel like I’m healing.
I remember not only having a hard time getting real sleep back then, but I was also terrified of sleeping, because I had trained my mind, to know that waking up after sleep, meant withdrawals. I would convince myself that this time, I would 'save enough' for when I wake up, but that just was not an actuality. In reality, it was get it, use it until it's gone, pass out, wake up in horrible discomfort, repeat. My god. Bless you that made it out. And a moment of silence for the many who did not.
50 pages of the book Dopesick (now a HULU show) is my story, I’m Spencer in the book. I did 5 years in federal prison, started a channel 2 months ago and at 900 subscribers so it’s rolling slowly but surely. Just subscribed to your channel. I’ve been off heroin since April 9th 2010, am a judo brown belt under an Olympian, bjj blue belt under a world champion, train twice daily and box to keep right. Training’s what’s done it for me, but I also do work with addicts and kids which helps me remember how I’m one line or shot away from losing everything.
That’s awesome man. Wowow that nuts that the show is about you. Incredible brown belt in judo. That’s great. What do you do for work with addicts? Email me let’s chat and do a collab. Soberdogs2@gmail.com
I have to admit tho.
Noding out was the best times when I was on. Its like half a sleep half awake, sense of time feels different and one is teleported to other places, really sweet and dangerous sweet spot.
This feeling is really so addictive ?
@@ofirvvv4566 Im not sure about all the time because one would get used to it and it would become "normal" and sober state would become something new.
But yeah no lies being in that place in between feels very very good that one wants to go back there, I think its one of the main reasons for addiction.
@@PurpleSixBeatsyeah no thanks. Looking like an idiotic junkie leaned over drooling isn’t my cup of tea. I’ve been more addicted to working out and making money. That’s just degeneracy
@@ofirvvv4566yes very much addicted, that was me the whole time wanting to just feel numb and go to sleep. I would nod out then wake up and get another hit then fall asleep again. Just to sleep was the best. But it’s dangerous

Congratulations, me too but i was able to kick it at home. Thought i would need rehab too
I used to nod out while walking...I'd run into walls and shit. It really is a state of both Wakefulness and dreaminess, depends on how heavy the nod is at that time too....things like alcohol, benzos, muscle relaxers, antihistamines and phenibut all make this nod much more intense
Yup feel that bro
alcohol nods are definitely overlooked, they haven’t been all to common unless i mix it with cannabis.
@@HarvestingMangoesInTahitiyou too huh, no one ever talks about this but listen to this. With a beer I can finish one in 3 sips 6 if I take my time. I would take a rip of the cart after every sip or before but like 6 times for a beer. I'd be knocked out in a hour after .

I Stopped mixing the two a while back because it certainly can turn into a horror show if you're in too deep. Honestly one of the worst experience in my life was having the smart idea of mixing Brandy with Thc carts. Fuckin horrible mistake. I fancied being dead that night.
The only feeling i would say is worse that that is food poisoning, not by much tho and that says something 😂
I nodded driving sooooo much. Having to battle to keep my eyes open every 5 seconds, when it would only really happen in the car. I’d get home and feel sober, then hop back in the car to go get something to kick it up a bit and instantly start nodding the second I got on the freeway.

I just came across your channel this evening and i want to commend you on the content you make. I can tell thru your comments you have a fan base of not only others living a sober life but also actuve user and also ppl who are simply curious. Lord knows with the drug stats these days... Almost everyone knows someone in their life who is currently struggling with addiction. Which is why having this channel is so insightful. Especially coming from a past user. I hate hearing people preach about stuff they've never actually experienced themselves. I truly believe addicts will only ever take advice from someone else who has been where they are. Your doing a great job helping inform accurate knowledge about this topic. Keep up the great work 👍🏽 you gained another sub
I heard you say you were going through a tough time a while ago I hope you got through it. You're strong dude and you can do this. Be good to yourself
I love this channel I'm definitely subscribed and can't wait to get more content
this video was so helpful, thank you! i've never done opioids but it's helpful to know what to look out for in other people. thank you for this video!
Used to nod out riding my motorbike back from scoring in Bangkok all the time. So dangerous. Just microseconds but so many walls... so close.
Hope you're doing well
Great video man, always appreciated 👍
Appreciate it! Thank you so much
Omg! Lol! Yes! One of the things that makes me laugh at my old self is the fact that when I was obviously high out of my mind I would always deny it and in my mind nobody could tell but me. Yeah sure. Lol! I've nodded out and face planted in my dinner, a bowl of cereal, etc. Thank you for covering this topic.
That is exactly what i mean Rooster isnt it so nuts how we think no one can tell... its the stupidest thing ever. face planted in your bowl of cereal omgggggg
Ohh yes.. I remember all too well, face planting directly into my dinner where we had mashed potatoes that night. And nodded probably 4 times before I hit the food the 5th time. And when the family then asked me about I had taken drugs, my reaction was always to go from 0-100Mph in a fit of rage yelling "No I've been clean now for 2 months and you don't understand how to trust me and for once show pride that I've been clean so a long time. I'm just very, very tired and that's why I obviously face-planted directly into my dinner".. Fortunately, 3 years clean now, and I'm happy that I don't have to go and lie every single day and disappoint my family
@@rasmusthomassen2287 I hated lying all the time. It would've just been easier to disappear. Good on you for 3 years sobriety. Even one day is worth celebrating.
Oh man. All that lying, right to my family's faces. Even after I was actually clean, it still took close to two years for them to really show trust in me again. The damage is real. @@rasmusthomassen2287
My friends accidentally drove into the window of a jewellery store. They had alot of explaining to do. They had been parked outside and gone on the nod. They remained on the nod even after the car went into the shop window (this was before bollards).
Sad
wow That is sure a lot of explaining to do. I'm sure they thought he/she were robbing the place or trying to.
Thank youu for this information
Lol. I used to have to wake my dad up when it was a green light. I’d be on back of his motorcycle
o wow thats insane how on earth did you not crash?
nodding out feels so weird. sometimes it felt amazing like my head was completly silent but other times it was scary and even painful it felt like something took over my body and was fighting my brain i wanted to stay awake i just couldnt. Im almost a year sober now, some days are still a struggle but i know the effects on my body and i dont wanna do it anymore
RUclips trying to help nodded out with autoplay on and woke up to this video.
I’ve never had the full blown standing balancing act, but I’ve definitely been caught just standing there with my eyes closed. It’s like you get lost in the most interesting daydream and nothing else matters, meanwhile really you’re just playing a scene from spongebob in your mind over and over and over.
you explained that very well. I think its easy to tell the difference but maybe thats because i did drugs and know what to look for.
yea good point you did them soo you know exactly how it feels
Also the weird hand and arm movements. Like acting out some sort of thought or something!
Its funny how some ppl will keep on talking
personally never have been addicted to opioids , thankfully, but i was given an unknown quantity of fent instead of mdma with me and 5 friends, we collapsed onto a single couch in a hotel lobby for almost 3 hours, until one of our friends (who took the same but twice as much) had emt's called, someone who knew us both was like, hey ___ is going to the hospital please help cheer them up, and literally all 5 of us like a pile of half alive beached fish stumbled over to him in a wheelchair, said our hopes, and each individually passed out in separate corners of a hotel room, we genuinely all woke up wondering how we were alive, i sometimes get drunk and think wow haha this is like how hard that was to remember but every time i think about that event sober i realize how close to dying we were, how am i still here
I'd gouch out half sitting upright with my head up facing the ceiling or even right into my food on a plate. At my worst I nodded out while standing at a till in work 😖
Ik this is going to be weird but I use to like the nods but I’ve never ever done them when driving ever
I hate to say it....but I do this...however I never ever thought it was funny. I kinda felt like a junkie frfr....but after watching this video and your comments and reinactments....I'm 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭🤦♀️
yeah after i nodded or in front of my bf i stopped usingdrugs. ifelt so embarrassed
popped 2 percs when I was prescribed them for pain relief just cause I was curious never again lol was drifting on and off laying on the couch had to stand up and start walking around never again lol ts was awful I get how people get addicted
My brother would nod out all the time it was pretty disturbing. He would be basically be half dead.
I have a question. If you find somebody like that on the streets and you wanna help them get to a safer place or something. Can you try to walk them? Will they follow? And will they get agressive?
I wouldn’t approach someone high on drugs, if it’s someone you care about that is a different situation.
I do have to say that there is a medical condition that can make you go into that at times. When you have idiopathic hypersomia , you can get to a point where you’re so tired that your body essentially shuts down and almost forces you to sleep . So even though you try so hard to stay awake your body just still thinks that your overly sleep deprived and you need sleep so it will still force you to fall asleep. I know that before I found the right medication for me I would have periods of times where I would be “falling asleep”( my body would force me to fall asleep cuz it thought that I was so sleep deprived and if I didn’t get sleep then I would be in danger ) and I would have to force my self to stay away and I would be in a state where I would be going up and down trying to stay awake all the while my body would be trying to sleep.
I just relapsed for the first time in years. My bro just offered me a bundle of fent and some hard and I did the whole bundle and then smoked the hard. I might be nodding out now if it wasn’t for the hard. I’m really disappointed in myself even while being messed up. Also may have just reinfected myself with hep c even though the syringe was flushed with bleach. Not worth it, so stupid.
Stay away from bro...

*DONT FIGHT DRUGS* I RARELY NOD OUT, I LOVE SIPPIN... I HAVE A PRESCRIPTION EVERYONE SO PLAY SAFELY WITH DRUGS.. I JUS RATHER GO TO SLEEP, IF I FEEL MYSELF SLIPPIN CONSCIOUSNESS I JUS GO LAY DOWN FU€K IT. BUT IM ALWAYS SOMEWHERE SAFE
HEy good for you you got your own system but your dead right about being safe and playing smart with them for sure.
Doing that now but I broke my hand
If with family, I was always sure to be clear enough to be able to sit down and eat dinner wthout falling into the bowl of soup and most times it worked but ofc sometimes you really nod off at the wrong time. Like when i walked into a large thorny bush-thingy that was huge. Im on Suboxone now so no more nodding for me 😂
Top 5 Famous Excuses for Being on the Nod:
1) I’m tired. I didn’t sleep well. I was up all night.
2) I just smoked a joint (right after I snorted two pressed Fent blues).
3) I was just resting my eyes.
4) I took a Benzo (not a handful of sticks with 300mg of Methadone).
5) I had a hard day at work
Serious question, what if you decide to do heroin and nod off while laying on your back in bed. Is it recommended to fall asleep during a heroin high?
You are at very high risk of choking in your sleep and dying
I’ve never done hard drugs but I have nodded out once or twice from this herb called kratom when I first started taking it my tolerance was very low, first time talking 9 grams I nodded out for like 10 min it’s like you are day dreaming and seeing a bunch of rapid mental images it was kinda cool.
Kratom is an opiod
@@foreign4552 not really it’s a semi one but I consider it a unique substance unlike any other including opiates because it has a stimulant effect along with a sedative and relaxing one.
Kratom😂😂😂
Funny story, im watching this just curious about what its like.
I used to smoke a lot of weed but instead of passing out id like go to Twilight. Thats what i felt later kn very high Kratom dosages.
But on kratom it kinda feels bad. Spinsy.
Every time i took opoid i got hyper
No way bro I was using these shirts for two years and I say I got the best sleep off that
Seldomly happens to me on METHADONE by the way. and then ONLY when sitting or liyeing down.
I don't like the nodding effect cause then I won't be able to read or watch RUclips.
It's feels amazing the nodding process and suck together?

I'm glad sober dogs mentioned the misunderstood thing about nodding and sleeping; if I take so much I begin to nod, I still can't possibly sleep, at all.

Nodding: maybe the absolutely best, and most dangerous, part of opiates/opioids tbh
Man I could realky keep my s**t together on opiates til I added Somas to the mix, it was all over then. I nodded out in drive thru two times.
Oh man, for me it was when I started throwing in phenibut or alcohol in with my opiates....somas were very hard for me to find but when I did, I'd mix them with my opiates and I know exactly what you mean. That soma+opiate combo is super intense and euphoric, I took so much somas one time I had a weird type of seizure
@@mongogojjo5944 holy crap. I remember looking like I was having a seizure when on lortab & somas I'd be shaking trying to get food or drink to mouth people thought I was having seizure but It was just intense nod. I liked mixing alcohol w/ opiates but only with coke in the mix the 3 would put me at perfect level. It's crazy how we'll put anything in our bodies just to feel good for a few hours.
Somas and opioids have a synergistic effect when mixed meaning they are amplified by using together. I was on a combination of hydrocodone and soma after spinal surgery. I wasn't allowed to move around much and that was probably a good thing because those drugs together knocked my ass out!
I would bet anything this dude is from Jersey/Philly/New York

Listening about nodding out while I'm nodding out 🤓
My x husband is doing something. He's losing his home and everything he ever owned for non payment. What I've noticed is that nod and his eyes will roll up ..under his lids, even while he's just standing and talking to you. It's very scary. I do not think he'd use a needle. How would he be taking it and what!? What is he doing. It's so sad to see.
He's definitely on an opiate. Look at his arms and if you see marks he is shooting up. Otherwise he could be smoking, snorting or taking pills. If you find foil and black soot he's smoking it, if he has a constant runny nose and sniffles he's snorting but it's hard to tell. Hope this helped
@@azrael4771 thank you for reply. Appreciate that.
I do not see marks, but...
What I notice is he does it in the bathroom and there's always like white chunks of something in the sink drain. I'm so afraid he's going to fall over face first he's so bent over. :(
@@JLea3 hmm it could be cotton from shooting but you said no marks so I'm not sure. It could also even be throw up Because heroin always made me get sick. Much luck to you, I'm sorry I know it's very sad and you feel helpless. My advice is sit him down, tell him you know he's using but you need to know what it is so if he overdoses you can treat him properly
@@JLea3 forgot to add if he's on an opiate his pupils will be very tiny, if he's on cocaine or meth they'll be big.
@@JLea3 I went through this myself, I was a normal functional full time working person who was on OxyContin extended release and oxycodone instant release, I didn’t realise how bad it was, I knew there was a slight problem, but it wasn’t until I had a chat with my doctor that I realised it had become very bad, I was nodding out a lot. I’m extremely lucky I got through and I’m now 2 years out of my addictive behaviours. It’s so hard because you don’t necessarily believe you have a problem. Especially if you’re mostly functional. No one had any idea other than my partner. I do hope he can get the help he needs, because nodding out is extremely dangerous and it’s a sign we are in a state of respiratory depression, I wish you the best and I hope things have gotten better for your ex husband.

Can xanax cause nod outs?
Sand Moon
do h users know when they are nodding out?
Yes. It’s part of the addiction
can methadone cause this?
Yes
Had to take pain meds for my tonsil surgery and was essentially was nodding out for 2 weeks. Never slept great and wasn’t much fun. Don’t recommend
My Inlaws on opiates, lyrica, and benzos but esp opiate pills. And the constant denial of not being an addict. And it’s nothing like a sleep apnea or insomniac nod as you said, but a true drug haze weird nod out.
I messed around with oxy years ago, found the stimulated feeling nice but found nodding annoying, not that intreresting or that enjoyable. Opiates are pretty overrated in my opinion
Opiates are for end stage cancer patients. How can it be overrated? 😂
I kno someone standing nodding his head is almost touching his feet hes bent but standing
To me the nod was as good as the rush. I would love my holy trinity cocktail my soma, Xanax, and oxy or opana or morphine. The rush was obviously orgasmic, but better but the nod was the same. I loved it, getting to that point right on the edge of death because I feel death in itself is a release and can be euphoric on it’s on as scary as it sounds. I believe there is life after death, I believe we have lived many lives already. I just loved the nod and loved that jolting up after being nodded out. I still mix my Xanax with my methadone, i shouldn’t but I’ll never stop the addiction is too deep. I don’t do opiods to get high on there own anymore and methadone has saved me. I tried quitting methadone several times and to me and doing more harm than good quitting methadone, my chances of using off methadone are extremely high while almost non existent while on some because I have no cravings. No one should feel bad either that’s what these meds are for. The 1900 complete sobriety is bullshit it rarely worked and we have safer options now. Everyone stay safe
1:09 damn Dr House took toooo many vicodin this time sheeesh 😤😤
As a chronic pain patient on opiates, the only thing that helps, let me say I am not an addict but dependent on opiates for pain relief only.I never experience nod outs.I am either awake or asleep, none of this behaviour. But I am looked out with scorn at chemists and doctors. I wish I didnt have pain, I wish I didnt need pain relief, I wish opiates werent the only pain medication that helps, I wish the greedy, corrupt doctors who changed the rules and made it so difficult to get what I need, not any kind of high, would come clean and dedicate themselves to really helping pain patients instead of punishing us to death.
The ending - talk about a cliffhanger 😅
hahahhah got to keep it enticing
Do the ppl know that they noded out
Definitely! But every single one of them will deny that they ever nod off. Most will admit that they would be able to nod off when they first started using but their tolerance now makes them unable to achieve the nod. Most will swear by this statement and believe it. Although it's BS, and if you do happen to catch someone mid-nod they will almost always say it's only because they are so tired and haven't slept yet.
If the question was "Do ppl know that they are nodding out when they do it" the answer would be no. They will typically wake up to 4 different scenarios. 1 is realizing all their belongings have been stolen. 2 is being woken up by someone making sure they are okay. 3 the cops and 4 to ems trying to take them to the hospital. But typically ya also have to take into account how much they've taken. Some ppl nod out for seconds and some for hours.
