  • The nod-offs or nod outs are a huge part of opioid addiction. Almost every person in active addiction who uses downers will have nod-outs and nod-offs at some point during their addiction.

    You’re one of the first people I’ve heard mention how difficult it is to actually sleep on opioids. I could never sleep on them, I would just stand in my bathroom for hours nodding in and out of consciousness. Sometimes, I’d come to as I was falling over, other times upon impact. My partner could almost never get me to lie down in bed and truly sleep. I would eventually run out, and then just crash from exhaustion and wake up 24+ hours later, dazed and in withdrawal, with sore ankles and feet and often bruises and scrapes. I get anxiety when I think of the damage I did to my brain and body, not just from the drugs, but from the lack of quality sleep on a semi-regular basis. Thankfully, I’m drug and alcohol free now, and I feel like I’m healing.

    • @Inertia888
      @Inertia888 11 месяцев назад +4

      I remember not only having a hard time getting real sleep back then, but I was also terrified of sleeping, because I had trained my mind, to know that waking up after sleep, meant withdrawals. I would convince myself that this time, I would 'save enough' for when I wake up, but that just was not an actuality. In reality, it was get it, use it until it's gone, pass out, wake up in horrible discomfort, repeat. My god. Bless you that made it out. And a moment of silence for the many who did not.

    I do have to say that there is a medical condition that can make you go into that at times. When you have idiopathic hypersomia , you can get to a point where you’re so tired that your body essentially shuts down and almost forces you to sleep . So even though you try so hard to stay awake your body just still thinks that your overly sleep deprived and you need sleep so it will still force you to fall asleep. I know that before I found the right medication for me I would have periods of times where I would be “falling asleep”( my body would force me to fall asleep cuz it thought that I was so sleep deprived and if I didn’t get sleep then I would be in danger ) and I would have to force my self to stay away and I would be in a state where I would be going up and down trying to stay awake all the while my body would be trying to sleep.

    Man I could realky keep my s**t together on opiates til I added Somas to the mix, it was all over then. I nodded out in drive thru two times.

      Oh man, for me it was when I started throwing in phenibut or alcohol in with my opiates....somas were very hard for me to find but when I did, I'd mix them with my opiates and I know exactly what you mean. That soma+opiate combo is super intense and euphoric, I took so much somas one time I had a weird type of seizure

      @@mongogojjo5944 holy crap. I remember looking like I was having a seizure when on lortab & somas I'd be shaking trying to get food or drink to mouth people thought I was having seizure but It was just intense nod. I liked mixing alcohol w/ opiates but only with coke in the mix the 3 would put me at perfect level. It's crazy how we'll put anything in our bodies just to feel good for a few hours.

      Somas and opioids have a synergistic effect when mixed meaning they are amplified by using together. I was on a combination of hydrocodone and soma after spinal surgery. I wasn't allowed to move around much and that was probably a good thing because those drugs together knocked my ass out!

    My x husband is doing something. He's losing his home and everything he ever owned for non payment. What I've noticed is that nod and his eyes will roll up ..under his lids, even while he's just standing and talking to you. It's very scary. I do not think he'd use a needle. How would he be taking it and what!? What is he doing. It's so sad to see.

    • @azrael4771
      @azrael4771 Год назад +7

      He's definitely on an opiate. Look at his arms and if you see marks he is shooting up. Otherwise he could be smoking,snorting or taking pills. If you find foil and black soot he's smoking it, if he has a constant runny nose and sniffles he's snorting but it's hard to tell. Hope this helped

      @@JLea3 I went through this myself, I was a normal functional full time working person who was on OxyContin extended release and oxycodone instant release, I didn’t realise how bad it was, I knew there was a slight problem, but it wasn’t until I had a chat with my doctor that I realised it had become very bad, I was nodding out a lot. I’m extremely lucky I got through and I’m now 2 years out of my addictive behaviours. It’s so hard because you don’t necessarily believe you have a problem. Especially if you’re mostly functional. No one had any idea other than my partner. I do hope he can get the help he needs, because nodding out is extremely dangerous and it’s a sign we are in a state of respiratory depression, I wish you the best and I hope things have gotten better for your ex husband.
      I hope this is helpful.

    To me the nod was as good as the rush. I would love my holy trinity cocktail my soma, Xanax, and oxy or opana or morphine. The rush was obviously orgasmic, but better but the nod was the same. I loved it, getting to that point right on the edge of death because I feel death in itself is a release and can be euphoric on it’s on as scary as it sounds. I believe there is life after death, I believe we have lived many lives already. I just loved the nod and loved that jolting up after being nodded out. I still mix my Xanax with my methadone, i shouldn’t but I’ll never stop the addiction is too deep. I don’t do opiods to get high on there own anymore and methadone has saved me. I tried quitting methadone several times and to me and doing more harm than good quitting methadone, my chances of using off methadone are extremely high while almost non existent while on some because I have no cravings. No one should feel bad either that’s what these meds are for. The 1900 complete sobriety is bullshit it rarely worked and we have safer options now. Everyone stay safe

    As a chronic pain patient on opiates, the only thing that helps, let me say I am not an addict but dependent on opiates for pain relief only.I never experience nod outs.I am either awake or asleep, none of this behaviour. But I am looked out with scorn at chemists and doctors. I wish I didnt have pain, I wish I didnt need pain relief, I wish opiates werent the only pain medication that helps, I wish the greedy, corrupt doctors who changed the rules and made it so difficult to get what I need, not any kind of high, would come clean and dedicate themselves to really helping pain patients instead of punishing us to death.

      Definitely! But every single one of them will deny that they ever nod off. Most will admit that they would be able to nod off when they first started using but their tolerance now makes them unable to achieve the nod. Most will swear by this statement and believe it. Although it's BS, and if you do happen to catch someone mid-nod they will almost always say it's only because they are so tired and haven't slept yet.

    • @suzysturgeon244

      If the question was "Do ppl know that they are nodding out when they do it" the answer would be no. They will typically wake up to 4 different scenarios. 1 is realizing all their belongings have been stolen. 2 is being woken up by someone making sure they are okay. 3 the cops and 4 to ems trying to take them to the hospital. But typically ya also have to take into account how much they've taken. Some ppl nod out for seconds and some for hours.
