Tried it out for ten minutes and it is exactly as advertised. Tbh there is not MUCH to do but all we CAN do is polished and well made. Well worth working on a full release. Too bad it sort of crashes with the release of "Echoes of Wisdom" really or I would be way more hyped. 😉
I was lucky enough to receive access to the playtest build this time, and all I really have to say about it is it's great. It looks great, it runs great on my mid-range laptop running the largest world size at max render distance (160FPS on low, 60 on medium and high, and 30 on ultra) and the only thing that causes any slowdowns is the laser tool, every other method of destruction works fine and looks beautiful. I don't even have any suggestions, honestly. I just wanted to share how well the game is coming along, both in terms of mechanics and stability. EDIT: For whatever reason the render distance didn't apply when I first tried it out and subsequently left this comment. At max (44) render distance the values I listed should be quartered, but on 24 distance or lower they are basically the same as listed above once the world has loaded around you. EDIT2: I have also noticed that the hammer tool does not appear in the creative menu. Additionally, I often spawn deep underwater which was confusing at first (was wondering why the globemap was not lining up with the shape of the world, and why weird things with block placing were going on) but is now just an inconvenience (flying is quite slow even when holding the sprint key)
Congrats on your first playtest! I don’t know English well, but I watched all your videos about PlanetSmith using auto-translation of subtitles. I really want the game to develop and become more popular among people speaking other languages.
dont worry mate, your game runs fine on my intel uhd graphics 730 😎😎 *assuming you dont use the asteroid thingy **assuming you are using the playtest version of the game
This looks intresting. I would like to know, how do you see your final project? What do you want to do in it and what kind of ending do you want to come to? You really got me intrested!
Will Linux ever be supported natively or even through steam proton? I know it's often not as simple as just using the Unity linux exporter but even though proton most games will easily run great, and since it worked fine on Android so it would probably run on linux as well. Also I understand that this is a just a playtest, I'm just wondering about your end goals for the game.😊
Planetsmith runs fine through proton for me. On Steam go to Manage (the gear button) > Properties... > Compatability, then check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatability tool". It runs about as well as can be expected with the lighting engine and my on-board GPU, but it definitely runs on Linux.
@@IncandescentGames thanks for the information. My PC is no longer working :( When Planet Smith is released and available for other devices I will definitely buy! Btw will there be an in-game programming language like the commands in Minecraft?
I played it for a few minutes and already beat the final boss... While a little easy, the boss really did have some creative design, and you managed to balance how it had to stay rooted throughout the fight with still being a valid threat, although it had no attacks of its own being a tree and all. Very few developers are bold enough to make the final boss something as common and seemingly goodly as a tree.
Great project! My laser tool is working strangely. When the laser is activated, the GPU core and memory resets the frequency, as if throttling from the load. The load on GPU memory controller also increases. This behavior does not depend on the graphics and rendering settings - I tested it on minimum and maximum settings. There may be some compatibility issues. My PC: Resolution 4k Ryzen5700x ddr4-3600-64gb 4070ti super (it’s strange that the GPU behaves this way with a maximum temperature of 56* C and using 10gb VRAM).

3 time settings huh? Cool
Are they on check boxes?
Will the playtest version be available for Mac or mobile devices?
Just PC for now. Other versions will happen once the game reaches 1.0

@@TheCommandBox iirc i think in another comment he said commands might be mods? Not sure though

Woah, this looks awesome
I WAS RIGHT!
Wow the inventory has sections, so many games are too dumb for this.
❤
