  • These rich, fudgy brownie cookies are a chocolate-lover's dream that just melt in your mouth. When something mixes up in one bowl in just a few minutes there's no excuse not to whip some up!
    RECIPE: preppykitchen....
    When a chocolate craving hits there are few things better than these soft ultra-chocolatey brownie cookies! I like to make a batch of the dough off then bake half and freeze the rest for later so I can have on demand chocolate cookies when the need arises. It’s the cookie version of money in the bank!

    Definitely a chocolate lovers cookie! 😋 I made these today and they did not disappoint! I chopped some pecans and toasted them to sprinkle on some of the cookies for those in the family who like nuts! The sea salt flakes are great but remember to sprinkle sparingly as they are very concentrated doses of saltiness, but sure does add depth of flavor to the chocolate and cookies as a whole! I did add the hot coffee... also great for chocolaty depth! I placed a few chocolate chips on each cookie for a decorative touch. In fact I probably added more than half a cup of chocolate chips... that’s the beauty of it... it’s your call to improvise as you like! These cookies don’t seem to get super shiny, (even though I mixed for a good long time to increase the volume, but that may be a good trade off, as other recipes have more eggs and/or loads of powdered sugar. I do recommend Thanks John for another great recipe, and oh so easy & satisfying! The whole family loved ‘em! 💓 Very rich like most of your chocolate creations! Chase with a glass of ice water! Or some folks might like ice cold milk! 🥛☺️

I thought mine looked undercooked so I put them back in for 3-4 minutes. They are delicious because they're chocolate, but crisper than I like on the edges. The 8 minutes cookies are perfection. He probably only eats that one bite at the end. I realized a long time ago that I should only eat only one portion (one cookie, one cupcake, etc.) of whatever I bake, or it would get out of hand really, really fast.
      For some things I probably wouldn't eat any at all but I don't like to feed other people something I haven't personally tried, I'd hate for something to be wrong with the batch and only figure out after somebody spits it out.

    Did anyone else make these? My batter is in the fridge right now and it's still pretty soft even after being in there for 45 minutes. Something is wrong with the recipe. I used all the same ingredients except for the brand of cocoa powder (I used Hershey's Special Dark Dutched processed) and possibly the butter (I did use good quality butter). That alone could not have been the reason as to why my chocolate mixture was more on the liquidy side vs how John's looks in the video (his looked like a semi wet *dough*). I even brought out my handheld mixer just to make sure all of the wet ingredients merged together the way he said they needed to. As for weighing my flour? I did that too. If you follow the link to his website other people had the same problem. When asked about it John never replied. Come on man. Most people don't watch these videos just for fun. Many of us want to make them. And we want our bakes to turn out...

      @@stirlingsilver8880 Awe, I'm sorry to hear that. The recipe states it makes 24. In order to get that amount I had no choice but to use less dough which resulted in a few flat cookies. My larger cookies did rise but I couldn't find a crinkle on any of the cookies. As for being baked through? Thankfully I read some comments on his blog. Some people had to leave theirs in a few minutes longer. I set my timer for 8 mins checked them and realized they needed more time. When I bake cookies I always start with a small batch (like 6) so I can gauge the time. Also, when I make cookies that call for the dough to be chilled I always scoop, shape, etc ALL of the dough then place the unbaked ones in the fridge till it's time to bake them. If you don't have extra cookie sheets you can always place them on a plate. I definitely won't be making these again. Best of luck to you in your future bakes... 😉

      People always have to have in mind that everyones recipe won't always come out like the one you see in the video. You need to experiment yourself, if it's too runny maybe add more flour, also the baking times may differ depending how your oven works, and sometimes you need to chill your dough a little more than the recipe says. You always have to experiment, not expect the recipe to work 100% for everyone.

    • @tammiemartinez6485
      @tammiemartinez6485 3 года назад

      @@fatimachavez1662 When you read my comment did you not see that I wrote that if the dough calls for chilling that I actually prepare all of my dough then put it back in the fridge till it's time to bake them? Or that I bake a sm batch 1st in order to gauge the time needed? When it comes to adding more flour you do realize John recommends that we weight it for accuracy right? If more flour may be needed that is something he should tell his viewers. If someone is putting out a tested recipe then that recipe should come out the same regardless of whose house it's being made in. The only people this won't apply to are those who live in higher altitudes.... 🙄

    You read my mind John, saw a box mix of brownie cookies the other day in the supermarket and thought I'd look for a recipe which would probably be nicer and here we are. Love my kitchenaid mixer, slightly more expensive but worth it over the cheaper ones which don't last. Oh and I laugh at your notions of portion control when it comes to anything brownie 🤣.

    These look so great and I'm happy that I have the ingredients already in my pantry! Should we let them set on the cookie sheet for a few minutes and then transfer them onto a plate to serve? Or do we pull them off and put them on a wire rack? What have you found for the best results?

    Hello. I LOVE your videos! I'm trying this one out right now. I had to come check the video though because on the recipe from the link, on instruction you call for "Baking Soda" instead of "Baking Power" as specified in the ingredients list. Thanks again for all of these master class quality videos and recipes!!! I'm definitely going to order your book.
