Reviewing My Friend's First Budget Gaming PC Build

- Опубликовано: 13 фев 2019
- So my console-gaming friend built a mid range, £400 ($500) gaming PC for the first time before quickly switching back to console (traitor).
Before formatting and selling it for him I decided to review this, his first build, to see what components he used, how much he paid and how well this gaming rig performs. I'll also be talking about any changes I'd make and whether or not I'd recommend a system like this.
Thanks for watching :) Наука
Thats a clean build, good cable management and a no nonsense approach.
rwer qwrqwr certainly it what I’m doing with my coffee like build. I’m going all out with RGB.
@J Fz Most of time front usb ports are for mouse/keyboard due to cable length and they don't need USB3 bandwidth
@J Fz Mechanical drives won't overwhelm a usb 2 connection bandwidth wise
@J Fz its a 20 bucks case, what do you except ?!
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??
I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can offer me
Everytime your friend complains about framerates remind him of what he could’ve had.

@@zigaklun3395 Not OC'd just in general it is better and performing great.
The xbox one x has a better version of the RX 580 so it performs about the same a a 1060.
Cupcake Bunny Productions and still most games are capped at 30 frames. Especially tripple a games. So I doesn’t matter. He gave up a better system that’s so stupid
@@ryez5708 you saying they are capped at 30 just shows how little you understand and know about consoles. Yes PC's are better overall, but sometimes a console is a better choice.
No RGB?
Respect.
@s1mple no rgb=respect
@s1mple Minimal RGB, sure. Las Vegas in a box RGB? Fuck that.
Yeah...NEVER skimp on the power supply. Hint: EVGA has good deals on their refurbed PSUs on their website. Amazon might have them cheaper, but the ones I get from EVGA are solid.
Made sure to get a evga g3 850 watt gold+ i overclock and planning to sli here soon.
Buying refurbished is not worth it
@@owenc4398 i dont buy pre owned lol i dont trust anything but new
The only thing I buy used are old consoles because they are generally reliable and last a long time

Yeah, I'm really quite surprised that it has reasonable horsepower despite the sever lack of flashing lights within.
Even tho I have my new 1500$ pc, I still love watching these videos. Keep up the good work!

Agreed! 1080Ti and he still has me wanting some of this used hardware!

Stop bragging BRUH my PC is only worth 400 :(
It's a 1050ti i5 3470s and 500gb ssd
He gave up the PC...... for a Xbox one x?
Was he high?
i was absolutely flabbergasted to hear this, what a fucking idiot.
worm yo man don’t be a fuck some people want to game on consoles some don’t have you ever fucking heard of opinions yes pc are better then consoles but people have opinions man
@@greenfolk9266 shut up
I'm high and I wouldn't do that!
Was wondering the same thing myself, especially since MS seem to merge PC and XBOX more and more each year. But I suppose there are a couple console exclusives out there such as RDR2 so if you really want to play that you don't have much of a choice right now.
I got my PC for $170! It has an i5 3470, 8gb DDR3 RAM, and a GTX 1050Ti. Do you think I got a good deal? I think it was an amazing deal!
Obviously the person selling it was brain dead. I wish we had more brain dead people where I live.
@Sean DeMarco
Yep. How sad I can’t find one.
Sean DeMarco well they weren’t selling the whole thing I got the pc for $100 but I probably could have got it cheaper if I would have asked. But I got the 1050ti for $70 but I drove over 2 hours from where I live to get these amazing deals but it has payed off to me at least
Sean DeMarco exactly the same here 😤
@@ryleighlawrence6189 what a shitty deal. I'm willing to get that piece of crap off you for $50, no questions asked. Yes, i'm a good samaritan willing to take the blow.

Pretty good first build, Performance over Aesthetics love it!
So, from a PS4 to pc and then to an xbox one x.
Surely a ps4 for the exclusives and a pc is where any serious gamer should spend there hard earned cash.

Jacob Wagers it's not a good PC at all. It's low end. To me anything that costs less than a console is low end and consoles are also low end.

I built a pc for £480 it has a rx 570 and a ryzen 2600x what do you think?
niallg1 How much ram? What Harddrive?
You have the Best bang for buck rig currently possible
TechnoLadz Vlogs, Tech, Minecraft and More 8gb ram 480gb ssd
niallg1 And Which motherboard, if it’s a B350 or x370 then that’s a good value
i think meh...
R5 2600 + RX570 best bang buck.
If you want single core performance just use aftermarket cooler or buy secondhand AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler then Overclock 2600 same as 2600X Clockspeed.
You know
2600 TDP is 65W While 2600X TDP 95W.
why meh ? stock cooler 2600X has very little potentialy overclocking cause TDP 95W and requires more aftermarket coolers to cools the CPU.
The build looks great , good job your friend
Cheer up buddy, keep the good job!
His Channel's name is a big advantage for him!
Yo awesome video!! 🔥 🖥
That's his first build? Nice and clean. It really makes me feel how pathetic I am. I have never been able (or didn't care that much) to build/upgrade my pc and make it look good more than 10 years in doing this myself. I only buy the best/enthusiast parts because I hate jaggies and stutters but really it's embarrassing to look at. If a robber came into a room where this pc and mine were just by the looks he would rather take this pc. But mine has a 9900k, a 3080 Ti ftw3 Ultra and 32 gb of ram plus 4 ssds. I just can't get my pc's to look good and then after time there is more dust in there than in the home. I am so disappointed in myself. Good job to your friend.
I built my entire PC set up a total of $500 (all used parts)
It consists of a i5-4670, RX570 8gb, Asrock Mobo, 8gb DDR3 Ram, 750w Thermaltake PSU, Corsair Air box case, rgb fans and such
I got my 1ms Asus 24” monitor for a nice $100 used, and my mouse and keyboard are from amazon.
I know it is humble, but I thought I would share :)
I built a ryzen 5 1600, rx 570 8gb, asrock b450m, 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram, corsair 650w psu, and coolermaster masterbox case for $492 at microcenter all new. :/
It's like a fat caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but suddenly creeping back into the cocoon to never experience what 60+ fps feels like.
Now this is a pretty cool build
clean build!
Sweet pc. May it serve him well.
I built my pc 400$ with rx 580 8gb
I5 4590
16gb ram
120ssd with 1tb seagate hhd
The 1400 wouldn't have been that bad of a choice with a B350 board to overclock it.
Nice build, and all round good performance! There's only a couple of things I would have done differently, aside from the nasty PSU:
1) Added an optical drive (for about £25 or so?)
2) Added a 2TB HDD (for around £50 or so) as SSDs on their own do not give adequate storage on a main or gaming PC (unless going for 1TB+, in which case, SSDs are mighty expensive).
I reckon I'm going to have to start using my gaming PC again. Don't remember what the mobo is, but it has a quad core i5-4460, 8GB of DDR3 (at goodness knows what speed), the ZOTAC version of the 2GB GTX960, and a 1TB HDD.
Nice budget build there. I'm surprised your friend doesn't keep it in addition to the new console he wants. I agree with him on not bothering with a bunch of RGB lighting. Maybe it's because I'm middle age now. When I started building PCs that stuff didn't exist, and I don't see much use for it now. I stare at my monitors, not the inside of the case.
I just picked up on shpock a i5 2400 8 GB RAM 512gb Samsung 850 pro SSD and gtx 950 for £70 I kid you not. The guy was clearly clueless, *guess it pays to know* Edit: the pc was amazingly £30 on shpock and the gtx 950 was £40 on eBay.
Where did u get these amazing deals?
@@geraldhernandez8749 I got the pc on shpock for £30 after some patience. The guy didn't know anything about it as he got it for free from his work. I got the 950 from Ebay after offering £40 on a current bid. Alot of great deals if you know what you're doing!
@@jakemorris4302 I got a £385 pc with a i5 6600k 4.8ghz cooler master 212 evo, 750w corsair semi modular powers supply, 8gb ddr4 ram,3 rgb fans with remote,a rx 570 4gb, 1tb 860 evo ssd, and a z170 mobo. with a mx340 case. This deal does not nearly compare to yours.

Hey man, Linus Tech tips are looking for small channels to get behind! You should totally pitch them the idea of expanding your channel to be a full time budget pc build/review site. I think it would be a great fit for you because it does not really conflict with their current channel lineup. I would love to see a steady 2+ videos a week from you with even higher production values. (if only because i really enjoy checking out the videos you do)

@@FlopFan69 you're the only person here that has a rich dad.
RandomGamingHD is 100% wrong, I wished he hadn't steered his viewers wrong on this: NEVER get an A320 motherboard, ALWAYS get a B350 motherboard. For an extra 10% cost of the build you often get two extra SATA ports, an extra M.2 port, many more PCIe slots, a decent VRM with passive cooling, as well as more USB 3.0 ports plus USB Gen1 Type-C and faster supported memory, all that besides the ability to overclock. The tiny extra cost for a B350 motherboard will be automatically recouped when you go to sell it, A320 builds are a LOT harder to sell.
Never confuse value with cost.
Exactly ffs.And people are still talking about overclocking like its sth dangerous and difficult .
@@sakispdsw even if someone doesn't overclock with it if they decide to sell off the pc the value of it is worth more with the mobo having the ability to allow the new buyer to do it More options / features = better. : )
@@DeViLzzz2006 that is true as well the value a b350 brings is superior no matter how you look at it
You need to go to the top. Wish it would be possible to give multiple likes.
well its not like people who buy a budget pc are going to be hooking up 20 hard drives and overclocking

Coupled with the fact that you can buy 1060 6 gigs which offered double performance for the same price used. For this channel I press like first and then play the video.
Suggestion : Include overall system power draw during those games with fps numbers.
You can get some killer deals on open-box stuff from Micro Center. I got an i5 8400 for $150 and an EVGA RTX 2070 XC Gaming for $439. Had both for a little while now and they work great.
I quit like this build. Don't know what you have done afterwards but it looks really clean too
Thats a decent build. Difference between 2400g and 1400 is PCIE lanes. Noticed this when trying to crossfire 2x R9 Furys with a Ryzen 5 2400g, only would allow one video card to work.
I then grabbed a Ryzen 3 1200 from the shop and threw it in my build. overclocked it to 4ghz and from there I was able to get crossfire working.
I then bought myself a Ryzen 5 2600 and everythings been running tight.
I wonder if that is from the 2400g's integrated graphics?
Now thats a clean build. Bonus points for not being a fucking disco party in the chassis.
I have a 1060 from PNY and the cooler looks very similar, I think palit and pny use the same manufacture for their cards.
Same
Could you possibly test something like an i3 2120 vs i5 2400s? Would be interestibg to see cores vs clock speed.
Yes, the 8 thread Ryzen 5 1400 and 1500x now can be found closer to that 100$ mark on the used market. They didn't really make much sense when they came out, r5 1600 was waaaaay better deal, but now seems like they finally found their place in this world. And also I completely agree with your a320 statement. If an a320 MoBo can be found for like 30-40 bucks then why not if you are on a super tight budget, you can still easily upgrade the cpu, although I would not recommend going higher than 6 cores, I mean, you can get a Ryzen 7 but honestly it deserves a better board
are you have only biochkshok2 ?(on your inventory )
I just got a used Xbox 1 and have it sitting nicely next to my PC. They seem to have become good friends when it comes to overall gaming :)

i actually just got the same case for my own system about 3 days ago. I got the one with the side panel and its literally like plastic. Its so cheap but it was only 30$ so w/e. Also i cant push my dvd drive all the way in because it bumps up against my mobo, so i think to say it can fit an ATX board is taking some liberties.
i built a pc for 212$ with a i3-4170 and gtx 750 ti, 8gb of ram, asrock h81m-dgs r.2, 500w zalman psu, and a wooden case made by me in a few days. Do you think it is any good? Also it has a 1tb sshd

I'm running a 1060 6 GB founders edition with a 330 W psu, it's in a Alienware x51, picked it up for £70 bargin as it had a great 970 in it
Hey Random, can you add gpu mem usage to your benchmarks?
That is a right good PC right there. Could do with a Storage HDD, and that 1060 looked right pricey, even at the "bargain" price he got it for, but the figures, And at High to Max, were well impressive. That's how much PC you can get for £400.
his cable management is pretty good. also cheap power-supply in this build i would not be concerned i have used multiple cheap power supplies and to be honest never had one die on me the 500w in my dads pc cost £15 and been going strong 6 years now to name but one. im of the opinion a cheap power supply in a cheap pc risk to rewards is not terrible.
i had a R5 1400 and it was a great overclocker. was able to push 4GHz easy
Got one used and performs decently. Though i cant push 4 since im on stock
my first budget build had a fx 8350 with 16gbs of ram as well as a 660 it ran alot of games but i bought a x58 board and eventually got a i7 990x paired with a 780 which im still using today
I built a pc with a i5 8600k, a gtx 1070, 2tb sshd, 240gb samsung 970 evo, 16gbs of g.skill tridentz rgb ram, a corsair h100i cooler and all of that's in a nzxt h440 for £800. What do you think of that? (all parts for this build were bought in August 2018).
1:36 you forgot to tell us that this pc has its own poltergeist
This is why i want to save up about $600 and build something like this cause atm i can upgrade my pc or get a new one BUT in the end they all hover around $450 to $600 so i think rather save up and go all out with a $600-$650 build and enjoy my new setup
is it worth to upgrade my cpu (pentium g4560) while my gpu is gtx960 2gb. If so, what specific cpu should i look for?
This almost exact pc with my first motherboard being different (my first motherboard is an ASRock AB350M-HDV) and the RAM being different as well (my previous RAM was Kingston ValueRam 2133mhz x2 at 4gb each) costed me a total of $1162.45 AUD before I added an external disc drive from LG
I got my Pentium g4560, 12gb ddr4 2400, and GTX 770, 60gb ssd, 1tb hdd(for 1440x900 75hz) for £175. I'm pretty proud of this and easily upgradable with a z170a bios-updated motherboard. Just waiting for 1080ti to drop in price and i7 7700k
I got a pc that is a i5 4440 8gb ddr3 600w evga psu and a gtx 1060 3gb of gddr5 for $200 is that good?
That is a great budget build except for the PSU and I personally don't agree with the graphics card choice but overall that is a nicely balanced system.
How many fps less for not having RGB? Since it's the most important part of the build.
lol your statement about PSU´s hit me hard.
Using my 1070ti and 4790k (bought a few years ago with GTX980 as a high end pc) still uses a no name 600W PSU.
May it be possible that the PSU is the reason for bad core overclocks on my 1070ti?
Could be,a cheap psu may not be able to supply power properly which will hamper your overclocks on your GPU ,could also be that you lost the silicon lottery.
It could be cool if you put the components modeo in the description in the next video
