- What a bargain! Today we're taking a look at this old school socket 2011 gaming PC. Once a high end beast this used performance system was found online for less than £300. So what's inside this 6 core, 12 threaded behemoth, and more importantly, can it game in 2019?
Thanks for watching :) Наука

@@SusanPDavis Surely no scam at all. Sign me up. 🙄
I laugh when he said sata cable was connected in the air
It is. I already have plans on using it should the situation ever present itself.
It was not.
It wasn't a bad joke but not comedy gold
The feels when you never get the deals that tech RUclipsrs do and pay like 2x-3x more for trash
Just gotta find them. Here in the US I can use sites like craigslist to find similar deals and sometimes the product requires some tech yes lovin'... er, wrong channel.
It definitely isn't easy, especially in smaller european countries.
Sometimes you gotta buy individual parts, depends on your area, may have to win bids. Couple other reasons
Its 200 bucks in Switzerland
Try being Brazilian lol

Yeah I was going to comment on that too.

the hx1050 is a clue that a lot was removed from this pc before it was sold, i guarentee it had a second 980 and probably an array of hard drives.
Nice Brain Man
@@khaledakachat5401 thanks
In my opinion, this guy deserves to be more popular than Linus Tech Tips or Austin Evans. No thumbnails with someone with their jaw detached from their skull with hands on their face, and the videos just feel nicer and less mass produced and view grabbing. I'm very glad that I found this channel.
Imo comparing austin evans to linus is an insult. Linus creates great content….austin on the other hand…..yeah…..
RGHD is great channel. But, it lacks “Enthusiasm”, i would say. Also, he posts videos about old gpus. Which is great but. again, not attractive for enthusiasts and high-end budget ppl. Great channel but, it might just dissapear from youtube recommendations. (If that person will watch less tech-related stuff.)
Old comment but I’ll never understand Linus’s popularity.
He literally gives 0 information and there is less effort in his videos than literally every other tech RUclipsr, he literally just shows off.
I like your "classic RUclips clickbait thumbnail" description. I've unsubscribed from channels I used to like when they started pulling that cr*p. It's so National Enquirer, weekly world news, its gross. I don't know what is wrong that people click on stuff like that.
@@kvetinky there are usually 2 levels of enthusiasm found on RUclips. Too much or too little. I'll take too little over too much any day of the week.
I can't find any love in my heart for vids that start out: "Wassup ballers, this is _insert name here_ for another in your face test drive of the new $9000 RTX 4090 paired with the 24-core i9 CPU that costs 800. We're pairing it with 128GB of DDR5 6000"
I could give a crap less about stuff I'm never going to mortgage my house to own. And false happy go lucky "we're all hip pals over here" attitude.
Lol, this deal would make even Brian (Tech Yes City) jealous!

What a BEAUTIFUL rig. X79 is one of my favorite chipsets out there, and this is the cream of the crop for this era.
Catpirate actually, it was the Intel Xeon e5 1680 v2
Catpirate sorry I thought you were talking about CPUs. The best motherboard was the Asus Rampage iv extreme.
@@jadenpereira760 The Rampage IV Black Edition is the best. Mine is sitting on my dresser next to me right now. :)
This is the best sandy bridge components to buy but I feel like the i7 2700k or 2600k has better value since motherboards are cheaper
@@jadenpereira760 Better value, but much less sex appeal.

i also saw a i5 3450 selling for 100$ shett scam
Gordon Ramsey dude I can get those kinda CPU’s for like 20-30 dollars
@RaZe ship us some for that price, we shall pay 😅
That's an excellent find for that price, I still use the i7 3930 today with a gtx 1080, I can't see my changing any time soon unless I get a failure.
that's a 1080p high-quality gaming price to performance king right there!
That’s a INSANE deal for 6 cores! Lucky you found it! Also glad you made this vid it was amazing man!
I actually laughed at the cloud joke XD
"what a bargain"
hes not kidding. I've literally just used an online auction site and the board ALONE is near enough £200
EDIT: that specific asus X79 board.
kingarthur83rd the board is an absolute beast, I’m still using my 3930k @4.7ghz on the sabertooth at 1.34v Vcore with 16gb 2133mhz ram and a 1060. The best part about the board is the VRM assistant fan which actively cools the VRMs based on temp and blows out of the io shield.
@@MarshallSambell an upgrade to a 2070 and a PCIe card for an M.2 drive and that PC will last you for years to come.
This was a proper STEAL. Wow
I got my hands on a decent MSI x79 board for 110€ and also an i7 3930k for 50€ but mine seems to be a bad overclocker.
I can't get it above 4.4 GHz. Anything above will cause windows to Bluescreen "clock watchdog timeout" or not boot up at all.
But at 4.4 GHz its still basically a ryzen 5 1600x so its fine for the price
Would you guys consider an x99 asus deluxe priced around $75 USD a good deal? No cpu or ram, only mobo with all accesories
3930k owner here and everyday it's ran at 4.6ghz and I purchased it 2nd hand for £380 back in 2012 and its still going strong and I'm well pleased :D teamed with a 1080Ti. I purchased the chip to future proof the system and I'm very glad I did. It still holds up after I've had it 8 years. Every other component such as motherboard and ram is all 2012 apart from the graphics card. Saved money in the long run.
The 3930K was imo one of the best CPUs Intel has ever made. Bought one back in 2012 and this litte demon of a CPU destroys everything gaming wise to this day in my cousins now PC. Having replaced it for a 7820X I will also say it was more stable, cooler and drew less power when overclocked. All in all I miss my 5Ghz 3930K demon to this day :(
1:34 "... and a spider" video cuts into you using a flamethrower.
It's the only way to be sure.
Dude! Your videos get better and better all the time! Keep doing what your doing. What a great bargain there.
Wow, you found a real gem at that price! For those of you saying I can never find stuff like that.. It's out there. You just have to keep at it. I find deals all the time. Nice find my friend.
What a damn steal! Only mobo and cpu can already cost 350$, and you have got so much more
Ahah 350 $ for an old 6 core? Come on you can buy and all new ryzen 2600 that go faster for less 200$
@@andreaprudente1158 premium brand x79 mobo (not huanan or plexHD x79) and original 6 core i7 (not xeon 1650) people would really set 350$.
@@hardware_maniac Who buy a premium motherboard in 2019? to do what? ahaha 3930k is an old and slow cpu nowadays.
Andrea Prudente r/whoosh
Andrea Prudente the 3930k is actually faster than the r5 2600 and it can even be overclocked.
I like how in just about every one of your videos you delicately give the gpu fan a little twirl!
I am about to throw my 980 into a P180...love the video. I worked for Intel at the time, so mine was free, as well as the X58SO it lives in. It's good to see how it performed today...even if a few years later as well as temps inside that case.
Nice to see X79 getting some coverage, I managed to get a decommissioned X79 PC with 16GB RAM and a 4820K at the beginning of this year for free, I upgraded it to 32GB RAM, a 4930K OCed to 4.5GHz, and a GTX 1070 and it can still kick it today :)
Rocking i7-5930k and it does just fine with 32GB of ram and a GTX 1080 thank you. Just built another in the silicon shortage for a friend and they are very happy at the super low price I found every thing at. Thankful for my knowledge and luck xx
Great video..the performance seems to be very close to my X58 board with a X5675-CPU..i wish you did more videos like this.
Duuuude, I love this Antec Full ATX case! I still have one in my basement storage for some random build in the future.
I used to work for CEX 10 years ago, in London. Great place. And it is a great place to get PC parts from, exactly because the pricing team doesn't give a toss about the brand unless it's apple, and give prices based just on base components.
Damn, that was a steal of a deal. Good stuff, dude.
Hi, just want to say I really like your videos 😀they are amazing 😉!!.
Great video man!
Great find dude, would make a lovely Media/RTS game PC tucked behind a big panel somewhere ^^
Connected to air, for cloud storage lol 😂
Man that was a steal. killer find.
1:04 I just bursted out laughing :D I don't know why that fan looked so funny to me :D
Never really see one mounted on the outside like that lol
*reaches round back to plug something in while on and misses*
I had an older version of this case with firewire port it's really was a beast
Bloody good find mate
Great find. I'd given up on CEX here in Bournemouth/Poole.....prices are just too damn high for a bargain hunter like me.😔
This really pumps me to get my X99 build up and running now though.
Just need to finish the custom coldplate for the 1070 AMP and it's "Hello Skyrim with 100+mods and packs"! 😁
sandy bridge really is something else. Even after nearly a decade, it still holds its own in many tasks and its only just showing its age
3:20 that was one of the best transitions i've ever seen
wish we had CEX in states cause sounds like some real bargains can be found there
I recently picked up an Ivy Bridge system as well and it's my main gaming rig now. Throw a Xeon in there and fill the RAM slots, you'll have quad channel memory for some insane memory bandwidth. Something like 60 gigabytes a second! I'm loving the Xeon e5-1650 v2 in mine, still holds up very well even at stock speeds.
Where i live i was actually happy enough to find 2011 combo mobo + cpu for about 170€. It is Asus X79 Deluxe board and i7 4930K. And it is amazing system in 2019.
Amazing deal! My i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz, 16GB of Dominator Platinum on an Asus Sabertooth Z77 with an Asus Strix GTX 980 are still smashing 1080p 60+ Ultra on everything I throw at it. I built this system to game/edit for 5 years and it's already given me 6+ with only a Corsair AIO CPU cooler replacement needed. I don't really play any BRAND new games on it so most of everything I play runs at 100+ FPS unlocked or 60 locked on my 144hz Zowie monitor. Even the RAID 0 WD Blacks I put in this thing for 2TB of game storage are still keeping up with my SSD's for game load times ( GTA V- 24s on SSD vs 32 on R0 HDD). If you built a PC in late 2012-2013 with premium parts you still don't even need to upgrade yet.
One of your better videos and something I am still amazed to this day you are able to get good deals. Do I need to move house?
In mexico, where i live, there's not many 79x systems out there in the used market, but fortunately, i bought a 2011-xeon based workstation machine for cheap n i'm very happy with it
The 2011 builds are great in 2019.
The motherboard you have is a great win for you. There are also some very good cheaper Chinese motherboards available from AliExpress. Bryan from TechYesCity has done some great reviews on these.
The quad channel DDR3 runs very comparable to DDR4 even in 2019.
Nice build.
I have one of those cases. Cable management wasn't as important when you have no side window.
Cheers, Mon from Brisbane.
You stole that thing. Great combo of parts all around. I love that case and i seem to remember seeing a version that was all mirrors. It looked absolutely nuts and just messed with your eyes. This grouping of parts is just asking for custom watercooling. Im sure you can get great deals now on the part specific watercooling items, they are even for sale used. If i remember there is no need to delid. Ditch that case for a watercooling friendly case, I would really love to see the AeroCool P7-C1 used as it is not to expensive and IMO looks amazing without trying too hard. I have rarely seen any builds using it. Its time to finally jump. Custom loop on a budget!
What a steal, nice deal, if only I could pick up more deals like this
Thanks for not being the jerk who kills the spider on camera. I love your content, can you review a GTX 780 with modern hardware?
I still have my old i7 3820 and the same mobo paired with a GTX 1060, LGA 2011 was a beast back then and still capable today.
Ahh good old X79 ftw, that rig needs some TechYesLovin😎
I just love this.this is the third time I'm watching thjs
The last i7-3930K system I owned (with an R9 290X) killed a 550W PSU, It's the reason I now rock a 750W
x79 socket 2011 systems still rocks ! i got the top OC-supporting model e5-1680 v2 with an asus rampage IV extreme ....!
What a freakin steal, wow. Awesome find
I had a p180 the first model they came out with this style loved thst case mine was black had dual 9800gtx+ and intel quad good machine for 2010 wish antec made something this nice
3:42 "My SSD is faster than your HDD"
I had that sticker in my build back in 2012
My SSD is faster than 99% of all other SSD
-Samsung 970 PRO
"My OCZ dies quicker than any other drive and underperforms for an SSD." would have made more sense and be more truthful.
I mean heck, I knew of two OCZ drives relatives used and both are dead after under three years of mild usage while literally any Samsung, Micron, Kingston, Hynix and even No-Name China SSDs and even most HDDs (including Seagate) live on seemingly forever under much more load which (no joke) includes more than 20 drives, some bought in as early as 2012 and used daily. OCZ was crap and went bankrupt for it.
@@aoelp Very true, mine died only 3 years after I bought it
my Vertex 4 is still alive
The P180 base design in general was way ahead of its time when it comes to what we consider to be modern features. The PSU shroud, fan filters, the intake panel, primitive cable routing, sound dampening, removable hard drive brackets and fan support. It even supported water cooling albeit as an outside extension. All this from a base released in 2005.
I held on to mine for a decade before I downsized.
That case will make a great server, good old CEX!
Im running a very similar setup to this but with a xeon and 980ti and a different asus board. Its an awesome setup even today
A bargain indeed. Great video!!!
Good find!
I have that case. It's still a beast with a lot of room and fancase speed controller.
That's an amazing price. Great tip on hdd size....
I terribly died 04:15 hahaha, how lucky you find such deals.
What a beast! Aged like fine wine.
bloody good find.
The power supply was most likely bought for the power effienecy curve which helps with getting stable overclocks, larger power supply have a wider window for said effienecy curve.
I'm still running a very similar system. 4930k @ 4.3ghz (stable since 2014) on a Rampage IV Gene, 16gb of that samsung wonder ram from 2011, and a GTX 670. Since then I've added additional SSDs and upgraded GPUs to SLI 670s> 780ti> 980ti> 1080ti and it absolutely rips today.
got a "dead" HD7950 Windforce for 14$, gave it a clean and its working like new

Btw. the cooler is from Arctic @01:54 ;-)
i wanna see an in depth review of it across the board of high end multimedia, professional works, emulation, virtualization of multiple windows environments, etc.
That's a sweet motherboard for the price, you got a heck of a bargain here.
a solid setup , nice antec case , the psu also got enough capacity for future upgrade tho
however a ryzen am4 with ddr4 may give you better future proof
What a steal u have there! Good find!
Beast of a different era!
That's really not a bad deal. A really good i7 & a 980. It's really not a bad setup for entry level gaming, and knocks the spots off of a 1050Ti with a more modern i3.
Throw in a 1050w COrsair PSU, some SSD's, a freaking Sabretooth and a plethora of RAM. Sell this for parts and you'll make a solid profit on eBay.
Great find!
I was rocking the ASUS X99 Mobo, socket 2011-v3 until recently with the i7-6850K CPU + 32GB of RAM.
I upgraded to the Ryzen R7-3800x, probably not much of an upgrade but I'm sporting the Gigaabyte Aorus Master Mobo now with a 2TB NVMe SSD, Gen4.
Still using my original ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti GPU as I see no need to upgrade that just yet.
Nice write-up. Back in early 2016, I built a 2 cpu Xeon E2667 v2 25M Cache, 3.30 GHz, 4.0ghz turbo rig with 128gb RAM in an S2600cp motherboard and with an overclocked 1070ti card (edit: 1070ti added in 2018). With 16 cores / 32 threads and 50MB total cache over both chips, it is still a (dual) socket 2011 beast today and my main PC.
How did you get a 1070ti in early 2016 when it didn't launch until late 2017?
@@jtenorj Simple: I didn't. That wasn't the original video card. I'll edit to clarify. Thanks for the correction.
8:56 good way to explain xp. A like for that
That's an absolute steal. :) Can you please test it with something like a Radeon 5700 or RTX 2060?
I'm pretty sure the fan on the outside would help as it would create a push-pull effect on the AIO cooler. It didn't look THAT ridiculous, and he removed it before testing the Temps.
I love this because this is close to what I've got, although I've got a I7-3630qm

I cant lie i do miss CEX in US. Great video
Wow, value for money from CEX, give that man a medal.
I remember there used to be some xeons which could be used on lga 775 boards and out performed all most every c2q on the market and perfomed like i7 920 when overclocked
I spot an antec p180 series, those were some of the best cases ever made in my opinion
i used to run a 3930k but it gave out under a bad overclock. to replace it i got a xeon E5-1660 v2. so i'm still rocking that 2011 lifestyle.
I'd suggest leaving it in 4 sticks or upping to 8 sticks for quad channel operation, also i'm pretty sure that machine could still do well with newer GPUs like GTX 1080/1080ti or RTX
I am still using lga2011 and its still doing wonders. I am using a bit newer but similar - 4930k, takes on everything even though i really lost cpu bin lottery, cant push it past 4,3ghz.
Socket 2011 here as well, An HP Z420 with a Xeon E5-1620 v2, 32gb ram and a GTX-1070.
I'm rocking here an i7 4820k with a x79 asus deluxe and 16gb corsair ram, found this combo for a deal of $100 amazing price and one of my best purchase
Now that's a damn deal...very nice!
Feeling quite jealous that you found this machine for such a price
I own a x99 i7 5960x 8 core 16 thread pc with 32gb ram, liquid cooling, and 500gb samsung 850 pro ssd I got for $175, technically it was $225 and came with a gtx 760 2gb but I sold that immediately.

@@RolandTechnicalDesigner well it helps living in the US and living in a well off part of the country. The dude who sold me this lived in the Hamptons so $$$ wasn't something he needed
That being said I strike gold often enough.
For instance a month or so ago I picked up 2 used hp sff pcs with no hard drives and one with no ram for $40 each. The one with no ram had a i7-6700, and the other a i7-4790.
Not even that great of an Price when you consider that the R5 1600 has roughly the same performance as the i7, DDR3 RAM and 120gb SSDs are as cheap as they get and the GTX 980 has about the performance of a RX 580.
Only thing that kinda makes the build specifical is the great PSU and the decent mainboard which allows for the usage of unlocked Xeons (8c/16t, £70 on AliExpress)
