This one moment I really liked about this version of Joel, is that when he sees it to be an old man, he genuinely wants to show mercy, and begs the old man to not force him to shoot, and then the sadness on Joel's face after he is forced to, it says so much about who he is on the inside. I liked it because it shows that even though this Joel is still capable of great brutality, much like his game counterpart, he doesn't enjoy doing it, but he will if he is forced to. It shows that he still has humanity within him, which to still have that after living in such a violent and unforgiving environment for two decades is incredible.
@@SQOUREE It would also serve to desensitize the audience to the violence on display. The show kept the number of infected and other people lower compared to the games so each would have more impact. Having Joel clearly disturbed by having to kill an old man to protect himself and Ellie, is a lot more impactful than if he's mowing through a crowd like it's a video game.
@@CrashB111 The show is great and all, but I think where the game works is that it was a lot more grimy with bandits/infected were more scarce. Fighting/shootout sections were unpredictable and drawn out + Joel going hand to hand in different environments (not just a simple fist fight) which I think created a great amount of tension than a 2/5 minute fight scene The show having a grand full auto shootout with a swarm of infected looks cool once, but it just immediately desensitizes ALL the action in one scene IMO
Notice how the special effects people screwed up? They’ve got the sound of the shot arriving before the bullet is hitting. As a matter of fact, you see the sound and the flash at the same time. Ooopsy!
Could’ve been a perspective thing they did on purpose to make it more dramatic. Like the viewer is closer to the rifle, so you hear it first, then hear and see the impact. But I agree it’s weird and seems like a screw up.
Joel in the game slaughtered like 30 people in that section, wanna know why? Bc that was a game, this is a show with grounded realism. So dumb people are

and then joel realizes that the old man never chambered the rifle so he knew he was gonna die
1:24 That look on his face of the old man. He knew that if he let them go, the others will kill him for that.
I see they went to the Prometheus school for running in a straight line in front of whatever is coming at you.
I've heard it's a popular school.
The reunions are badly attended though.
Infuriating. It’s exactly how my Guinea fowl act when I drive down the lane. But they have an excuse: brains the size of a pea
I got expelled for running sideways too often
An underrated comment
lol...absolute gem of a comment!
Joel both in the game and in the series💪💪💪 >>>>>
Wouldn’t have worked with the tone they were going for here but I do kind of miss the sniper taunting Joel.
The Prometheus running killed it for me
In Game: daylight and many goons
In HBO: Nighttime and only One Sniper
A game is a game, it must give you a challenge, if the show had so many enemies in these scenarios, Joel would have been dead

No. After he gets to the sniper a crap ton of infected and goons come

I really loved this episode.
What season and episode is this from? I thought I’d seen them all
yes
@@longshucksgaming You’re an asshole right?? 😂😂
They could have just gotten off the road.
Was the sniper using subsonic ammo? Because if not, then the bullets should have hit before you hear the gunshot

Distance is too short to notice the difference.
This is not how this scene went in the actual game. Why do they always get it wrong. It’s not the same. This show is totally unwatchable
Shut up & stick to the game. Crybaby
@tjtaylor3719 i think he making fun of people who always say Show bad because this is not how it went in game
