Really love how Tess and Ellie bond a bit in this episode 💜
So different from the game version. But it’s still like the ruins in the city.
Anyone else feel weird that this sorta scenery brings peace rather than horror?
Nope…
Not at all. I loved the Covid lockdowns.
Humans are naturally supposed to live in quiet natural places and this scene has 2 of them.
If you know you're alone, it's peaceful. But in the show, they know they're not far from danger, so, in that specific scenario, not very peaceful.
I often imagine the world around me deserted of people, living a solitary life with everything at my disposal.
Shame they skipped the game's setpiece where they traversed the two skyscrapers leaning into each other.
Yet to see this series properly,,, but the visuals are just stunning. The city ruins are amazing here.
I love how cynical Joel is for most of the game. I mean, guy's got reason to be, having his daughter die in his arms, numerous failed vaccines, general them or me scenarios. Need I say more?

No idea what this show is about, but it looks like a potentially dangerous place. They arent maintaining situational awareness.
One of the fastest ways to get killed in an urban setting like that is to keep talking the way were doing.

As good as the actors and actresses were in their respective roles, I personally would've picked:
Russell Crowe as Joel.
Julia Roberts as Tess.
Kaitlyn Dever as Ellie.
Matt Damon as Tommy.
Steve Buscmie as David.
Kaitlyn Dever for sure looks a lot more like the in-game Ellie. But I think Betta Ramsey is probably the better actress for the role
1. Almost all of the actors you picked up are actors well known with a lot of trajectory that makes them really expensive. Entertainment studios generally don't give budgets juicy enough to hire actors like these for a brand new tv show
2. I see why you'd have cast Kaitlyn Denver as Ellie. Funny how now there are big rumors that she'll play Abby (the other main character in The last of us part II) in season 2 😅!

Ellie looks like a hardened rugby player. I know appearance shouldn't matter, acting skills are most important. But the actor (Bella Ramsey) isn't a good fit for the Ellie character.
She's a great fit; her appearance suits her well. If she looks like a hardened rugby player, it'd make sense given that she literally went to FEDRA school and trained everyday

I actually think she's a better fit. She looks and sounds like a 14yo, unlike game Ellie who - despite having a short character model - looks too mature in the face and sounds/talks like a 30yo.

At first I agree with you but years later I realize bella is the best candidate to become Ellie in adaptation. Ellie in the game feels so unrealistic and matured, though it's for the game but when it comes to representing it in real life, bella Ramsay is the most accurate to represent Ellie.
