Cuban said when he asked the production team why they had to say it when it didn’t always get included, they said when they are in the final edit, if a show is five or ten seconds short, it’s far easier to just go and add a few clips of them saying ‘I’m out’ to fill the runtime than go back and edit the existing clips. This was definitely a pointless ‘added for time’ one here wasn’t it!

The Sharks, especially Robert, do what called Present Time Value of Money calculations which is why you'll always hear him say the word "today" when defending his stance. He said it in this video and you'll here it in others. He is focused on investment fundamentals which is great! There is a concept within TVM lessons that says "a dollar isn't worth more than it is (today)." That means, the value of his investment is the best "today" so he offers deals based on today when his money is worth the most. Entrepreneurs tend to lack this understanding and don't notice the key word "today" when they negotiate so they often over value their company "today" because they are places "future" value on "today." Since these specific Owners and Robert were speaking in different languages using different paradigms, a deal wouldn't be reached naturally.
Robert was spot on and reasonable for the risk to reward in a space with competition that are Super Giants and can easily knock this off. Glad to see there are reasonable investors with big platforms like this setting a good example and Robert stuck to his guns and rightfully should have since he was being rational. On the Contrary there is the stock market and people are paying for shares of companies at a premium of 50x earnings and higher. Complete insanity
In my opinion, this couple is being shortsighted. If their current problem is not having capital to buy inventory to fill back orders, how is turning down $400k going to help them grow? If they had other ways to borrow money, they would have done it already. It's not just about the money, it's the marketing expertise, business acumen, and networking/business relationships that Robert can provide by partnering with him. If they work with him and prove their business is sustainable, wouldn't they think Robert could provide additional funding to grow the company even bigger? 20% equity is more than fair for the risk Robert is taking. Right now, he can put $400,000 in a CD for a year and earn over 5% or $20k with zero risk of losing a penny of his investment.

As someone who’s been watching the show for years, I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone turn down a great offer from a shark by not being able to understand and see the vision or longevity of value a shark would’ve brought them.. as mark used to say: “seems like they only came for the publicity”

As someone who’s been watching the show for years, I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone turn down a great offer from a shark by not being able to understand and see the vision or longevity of value a shark would’ve brought them.. as mark used to say: “seems like they only came for the publicity”
