$400? With plastic pieces? Make the pieces wood. Make the board a veneer of birch and maple over LEDs (honestly, works pretty well, when the lights are off you only see the wood, but it's thin enough that the leds are visible through the veneer when turned on.). Do this, and I might be interested at this price range. This weould be more expensive, and the colours would not be as vibrant. But I feel like most people willing to spend this kind of price on an electronic chess board likely don't care about the suggested moves, but rather the ability to play against and ai or someone around the world on a physical board. I don't want a cheap plastic product for a premium price.

I think Mark missed the point. This isn't a board to just play on. It's a training tool. If you want to start playing in real chess tournaments you have to get use to playing over the board. It feels much different than online. The struggle is usually you use an engine to explore the possible lines and figure out what moves are good and why. That typically is only an on-the-computer thing. This lets you get the over the board feel with a computer engine. I think it's genius.
This board has major issues. I will be in the middle of an awesome game only to have the board glitch out and it won’t count my move or let me take it back. Then it wants me to move again and the board has to be reset. This happens about every 4th game. Wish I had never bought it. Junk !!!!

Yeah lets be honest, this is a very niche market. 90% of the people probably even don't wanna train with AI, but only play it in their free time for fun. And probably only 10% of those would consider buying such a real board for that price and can afford it, so that's 6 Million people, internationally. US is ~5% of worlds population, so that leaves 300.000 people...
they can add cool sound when u place a peace on right square or on wrong one, or when u pick up a peace to make horse sound for knight, when u do chech mate or when u check someone, or they can add funny talk while u play, only bad thing is tjhe borad is not made of wood
I am a 2000 elo chess player, I think this product will only bw bought by new players not tournament players. They are great businessmen maybe that's why it will sell.
Don’t underestimate how much money motivated gamers will spend. Some board gamers will routinely pay $100-300 for games that they might never play. Magic the Gathering players may spend hundreds a month. Addicts of games with microtransactions might do the same. A quality chess board with half-decent pieces, clocks, and a travel bag will cost you a couple hundred and as much as thousands or even tens of thousands if you want to show off.
Robert needs to be quicker than that if he wants to show interest. Lori was the right person because she showed interest and didn't hang back. Proactivity shows an interest that money can't buy. Too bad, so sad, Robert.
This idea is trash.. As soon as I saw their idea I stopped watching. I play chess. The only way to learn how to play is by learning with your own mind. Not something that tells your mind how to think. But using your mind to become better, from not even knowing how to play, to becoming amazing, with only using your mind not some other help.

Learning the game is better I agree BUT it requires loads of practice (I'm not a chess player) so I'm not as dedicated as an average chess player I JUST WANT TO PLAY so this product (like an online game of chess) is the solution because it's about playing and not learn first then play. If only though they lowered their prices somehow because if they're trying to appeal to people like me who don't know how to play - I wouldn't be motivated even in the first place to purchase it since it's quite expensive
