Just keep in mind that it can only heat when the air intake temperature is 40 degrees F or above; below 40 degrees F the unit’s safety shut-off feature clicks in as other testers have noted - the workaround is to have a small heater like a My Buddy or Hcalory (loud diesel heater but gets the job done and inexpensive like the My Buddy) - the Wave 2 is the quiet, fast-easy (keep it charged and push a button) way to go for when it’s between 40-100+ degrees F outside, which is most days
The intake and outtake are a separate loop from the recycled air in the room which blows over a radiator. How does outside temperature affect the recycle loop?
Thank you for the review , we are going on the road with our new Northern light camper to AZ this winter and want to consider this ECOFlow Wave, we will use mostly for the Air Condition option however your review still has help me understand the quality. Thank you from Michigan
We’re in the Bahamas now and it works the same in cooling mode. Perfect for closing the doors and cooling/heating the cabin at night or the saloon area with cabin doors closed!
Just found this portable unit and wanted to determine it's effectiveness in an 8m highly insulated motorhome, so your yacht cabin looks an ideal comparison and I expected to divide the rooms in the RV into living and sleeping so can reduce the area required to be cooled/warmed. Thanks for a useful honest review.
I a tech addict and I have several products from ecoflow. never got any special discount or anything from them. I was thinking about the wave 2 but there are so many bad reviews out there... But I think is just that, people think that they can put this 5k btu AC on a car without insulation under the plain sun in 110f weather and expect that will cool down perfectly. I traveled all around us with a lance travel trailer, that had a 13.5k AC. When I was in Arizona in summer, it couldnt keep up. And remember the lance is insulated 4 season trailer. the best that an A/C can do is to lower 20F the ouside temp and that if you have insulation. So, if the air temperature going trough the condenser is 120, the gas will cold down to 100 in the other side. The BTU will be how big the condensor, compressor and how much gas, so the surface for cooling (the internal radiator and the external condenser) would be bigger, and cover more square feet. Also specs says "up to 8 hours" on battery, but that is considering that the compressor will be running 50% of the time. like it should be if the size of the room is what it should be for 5k btu. But since people want to cold down a full garage, it wont stop, so instead of 8 hours, will last 4, which is expected.
Great review. And so nice to see the practical side from a real sailor ⛵ Question: are you venting the hot/cold air out of the boat. Or just using unit 'free standing'. Venting will be difficult and make it less mobile.
Thanks for a great review. I travel with a s m al 19 foot rv behind my pickup truck. With your help, I'm pretty sure we found what we are looking for. Thank you. Dan.
Thanks Britt that was educational. You said you were in mid winter. If that's the case this video was taken February 2022. If you mean 2023 we are in mid Fall as winter start December 20th. Anyway date doesn't matter, but this heater/Air Con EcoFlow seems like it will do the trick. Looking forward in upcoming video what your reviews on this will actually be once it's colder. You, Ryan and Jackson stay safe and warm looking forward to next video
We just filmed it, it was -3 Degrees celcius...It feels like the middle of winter! It went into limp mode at -3. I think it was too cold because it worked again the next morning.
@SailingSunday -3, and it's not even the coldest time of the year. This is why I said I am looking forward to your review. I was thinking if 1 is sleeping, the other is on watch, and below the deck. Wouldn't two of these EcoFlows be better. Or is there a way you can hook up a vent system so it can flow the warm air into two rooms at a time ? Or get a diesel heater hooked up. You definitely work it out. I am sure. I'm looking forward to the next. video.
I'm in the same situation you explained at the start of the video. Can you make a video on how well it performs outdoors?: 1. How large is its cooling area when used outdoors, like on a soccer field? 2. It is comfortable to use outdoors? 3. Is it loud/obnoxious to use outdoors, or do you recommend it?
Come on guys, you act like she's on a bikini. The woman lives on a sail boat. She wears nothing. In this video she's formal. I'd love to be the post on that boat.
I would guess that either in heat or cool, the battery life would be affected by the temperature difference between outside and inside. You might want to lower the temperature your heating to and see if it lasts a bit longer.
Yep, that’s true! We have it set on 25c and depending on how long it takes to reach the set temp and how often the compressor kicks in and out determines how long the battery lasts 😀.
@@SailingSunday if it is practical, adding insulation should give you a longer battery life. Also, if it doesn’t last all night at 25, it might at 20 which would leave the ending temp higher.
Hopefully this summer you do an update on its cooling ability, as that seems to be the bigger challenge on DC power, and doing it affordably. Thank you.
Trying to cool my RV with limited electric available. Bought the Icy Breeze cooler but only cools with ice for about 2-3 hours. Have to run a generator if running a 115 window unit. My Hessaire swamp cooler does help some. Thinking about buying one.
Excellent! Just waiting for my Wave 2 duo to be delivered. I also have the Delta 2, as a backup. I'm sure you have, since your video was posted 3 mos ago, but have you checked into the Bouge Cigs 360 degree flexible panels yet? Thank you for your comment. How is your experience with the eco flow wave 2 and the delta 2 ? I am about to order the same setup wave2 without the battery and the delta 2 max probably for using in my van. I have a portable ac unit but it’s just big and drains my two extra batteries too quick. Thinking that ecoflow has a good option for me.
This would work pretty well during a power outage in winter time. Texas area was without power for over a week in some areas a few years ago. This would have came in handy as a small heater to warm the room up. Double clothes layer and blankets were ok, but wow it got cold during that time. And thats in DEEP DEEP SOUTH texas by south padre island. North texas by ft worth / dallas area was even colder. Some folks tried propane tanks with a camping burner for heat and they had to goto the hospital. This seems like a better saytof getting some heat for folks without gas generators. Curious about the AC cooling ability for a small 10 " 12 bedroom. And a battery powered Fan.
We usually put it in the cockpit and vent down into the porthole. If it’s going to rain that night, we put it on the shelf at the end of the bed and duct the exhaust out through the porthole, it fits almost perfectly.
Thanks so much for this review. You are good, short & very nice info! I'm looking for an portable a/c for my mom in our super hot climate in Puerto Rico. This is an option. Thanks!!
Seems that this may be an option for those in Texas experiencing power outages due to hurricanes, etc. I will investigate more the options included in the video above. It is amazing how difficult it is to find good cooling and heating options as backups to power outages. This may do it! One thing I don't want is a gas fueled generator!
I find it a bad design to not be able to charge the battery independently. Having to mount the unit to the battery in order to charge it completely negates the whole point of "portable"
Not good The cool air that comes out blows to the left so you have to point the wave on a 45% angle to the right of your boat to get it to blow down the middle Also the air out temperature dose not cool down unless you close the air out vent And when you open it back the temp goes up and the wave2 start to consume more power Talking and power The wave2 consumes 72wats of power when plugged in to AC when the wave is in standby (Not switched on) The heat that you pipe out the hot air leaks out from where you put the hot air outlet pipe onto the wave2 And the heat leaking out blow where the cool air comes out 🤦 🤦 🤦 I’m on my 3rd replacement already And I bought my set up 3 months ago Hope this help and this comment get a like for the owner of this channel for being truthful 👍 There’s lots more I could tell you 👍

Based on pre-purchase research, equivalent advertised specs, price, value comparison would have been interesting. Even just the top 3 you considered. This wasn't a paid review video, just a few things we noticed when researching it ourselves. We are making a bunch of videos of cool stuff for xmas! We could run it directly off the house bank with the inverter but we definitely need more solar, hence the portable panel. Hope this honest review helps someone to save money! Oh don’t try to contact support you will be waiting for a long time.
Mine sucks as well. It only blows 68 degrees Fahrenheit at its coldest. That’s not cold enough to even put a dent on my boat during the day. Night it works OK but still having to work kinda hard just to cool my 38 foot.
Sure maybe they'll give you a free 1 for sponsorship
? They already have one
hey guys
And what is it we are selling here, for Lucifers Coins?
Plug it into a AC and look at your battery monitor meter when the wave2 is switched off and tell me what you see 😂
The wave2 as power consumption problem it take 72watts of power when switched off 🤦
Pls reply and tell me what you think
I have the same set up as you but I’m on my 3rd replacement
And now EcoFlow say it’s normal for the wave2 to take power when switched off 🤦
Pls tell me if yours doses the same when plug into electric ⚡️ 🙏
Also be careful when using it in 0.3m swell on anchor
Can not wait for your reply
Safe wind
see you around one day
