2019 Ford GT review! The "new" Ford GT is an iconic supercar -- a truly amazing vehicle with some fantastic features and incredible performance. Today I'm reviewing the new Ford GT, and I'll show you all of its quirks and features. I'm also going to drive the new Ford GT with the car's owner as he sends it off after four years of ownership.

I love that the owner drove the freaking car. Owning a supercar has always been a bit of a downer after the first couple of hundred miles because you start realizing that in order to hold the value you need to be careful of the odometer reading. The one car I just drove and drove was my McLaren 650s. Don't regret a moment of that experience. And it's nice to see a guy with such an amazing piece of automotive history saying basically the same thing. I think if Enzo Ferrari were around looking at all these guys with F50s and BBs with 500 miles on them, he would be disgusted. Hours and hours of research and development go into making these cars a next level experience...but you have to drive them to get that, not park them in a big white room with all the other ones you don't drive. Just an opinion.
What color is your 650? There's an orange one that parks next door sometimes. I don't know who owns it, and I know it's not my neighbor because the house costs less than the car. 😅
Im with you 100%
I always felt that way about the McLaren F1. I think it's the coolest car ever made.
But they're so expensive that you can't really even drive them. It's so sad. Cars are meant to be driven.
And because they sell for a ridiculous amount of money,
they're only attainable by like 0.000001% of the population.
The reason they don’t get driven is also to do with the ego. Drivers generally do not buy high end exotics that are very rare such as an f-50. Collectors do. And collectors collect because of their ego, not their passion. If it were about passion, they would buy one and drive the wheels off because they enjoyed the experience. Instead what they enjoy is telling people they own one.
Drove it??! Barely
Is your name Russ Hanneman?
10000 miles in not even half a decade is basically unheard of for cars worth this much, really cool of the owner to actually use the car for what it was meant for and not just sitting in a collection
The rich snobs that buy supercars like this just use them as status symbols. Kinda like the stereotypical doctor that owns a $40k Harley Davidson but it hasnt left his garage in 4 years

The largest advantage of a major mass-producer of automobiles is that they have stuff designed to be insanely reliable. At its core, the ecoboost is a reliable engine to start with. All those gear selectors and knobs have been stress-tested to ensure reliability across fleets of vehicles. I think that’s a win in my opinion. A reliable supercar? Yes please.
Sadly I think that this is less of a selling feature than it should be. Like the owner of the GT said, so many collectors lied through their fucking teeth about actually using and loving this car, caring more to just add it to their collection or flip it for cash. When you don't intend to actually use the fucking thing it doesn't matter how reliable it is.
I have a much cheaper Ford but am happy the designers put the radio controls on the left side since it is a six speed manual. These guys really do think of everything.
It's a shitty overpriced ford
That’s why as far as supercars go, I’d have this, or a new NSX.
I'd still be hesitant to trust the DCT long term, just given Ford's track record with dual clutch transmissions, but it should at least last 70-80k miles before anything needs repair or replacement
This car is gorgeous, inside and out. They really paid attention to every detail when designing it.
Except the motor 😂
@@jerryrocketandthegogogirls3517 The motor is perfectly adequate and the car would have been worse for having a V8. The fact that it won Le Mans proved this fact.
I'm so tired of V8 fan girls acting like this car isn't one of the best cars ever made just cause it has two less cylinders than they'd prefer.
@@spacebound1969 2019 Ford GT has 630bhp.
Has parts of the fusion , focus , explorer. very unique
@@tpndgo2061 I mean yeah, it is unique. Denigrate it all you want for having Ford parts but I think it's awesome that my Fusion shares some parts with a supercar, besides the obvious fact that you want your simple stuff to be out of the parts bin. They spend thousands of hours making sure their switchgear is reliable and useful, why custom design something that'll be worse just to feel "unique".
Regardless, the Ford GT despite sharing some minor parts is unique for it's hydraulic steering and suspension, it's specially designed body and aerodynamic design, it's awesome steering wheel, and incredible chassis.
Go buy a shitty Ferrari if you want to feel "unique" cause your car has no parts shared with a common car. The rest of us will buy a Ford GT because it is a truly unique car that stands above the rest and will hold it's value well into the future, long after every Lamborghini or Ferrari has faded to obscurity.
I loved the interview with the owner. He did a great job telling us about his experiences with the GT. Doug, you need to do more of this.
Doug Demuro should review Shioriko Mifune's MAZDA 787B! It was also ever driven by Shioriko Mifune.

Since there's few times when I get to play this card, I'll play it now. In early summer of last year I got to drive a 1 of 1 spec carbon series Ford GT. On the highway too. I met the owner at a special event for the GT40 and its descendants, and after the event was over he drove me around in it before offering to let me take it for a spin myself. By far my most cherished moment as a relatively new car guy. I still can't believe it myself.
Out of respect for the car's performance figures, the fact i've never driven any sports car before much less a borderline hypercar, and the safety of the owner in the passenger's seat next to me I didn't push it (I think he was expecting me to but oh well.) But it was enough for me just to be behind the wheel. I had my sunglasses on, felt like maverick from top gun, and being able to look UP at a BMW m8 driving next to me was humbling. this car is LOW. and it'll forever have a special place in my heart. I like to think of it as my version of Doug's yellow carrera gt moment
Doesn’t matter how many times you review this car, I’ll always watch it.
Me too. It’s one of my favorite cars out there.

“In fact, it’s MY 2019 Ford GT.” - Daddy Doug
I like how he mentioned it doesn’t sound like a V6 then proceeded to show a clip of it sounding like a VQ 🎺
That owner is a real car guy. Buy a great car, use that car, and then sell it when they've done all the things so they can get a new car and a new set of experiences. Bravo. A *real* car is to be used, not be a garage queen only kept for speculation value.
The only reason he would review this car again is so he can proudly say it’s on his website
So what? Its a very expensive car, of course he is going to market it.
What people don’t realize is if the car goes on the site and does not sell, this is bad reputation. So he does what he needs to do to sell the car and keep the reputation of the site high.
So it's a profit deal!
I'm a huge Corvette fan, but this generation of the GT is a work of art and I'm happy an American company made such a statement of performance and style.

It’s really cool watching the wing go up as the car lowers in track mode. It seems like the wing is sort of stabilizing in a way, staying in the same place as the car goes down.
It's also an airbrake. That thing will lean straight up and help slow the car down. It's pretty cool.
I never understood why people were so critical of Ford putting a "truck" engine in their GTs. This is exactly what hot rodders have been doing since the beginning of time.

He gives all of his ex's Doug scores too and has a spread sheet.
At first I was disappointed Doug reviews a car he has already reviewed (has be come full circle and are there no more cars left to review ?). But then he surprises me with camera angles on the Ford GT I hadn't seen previously in other review (like showing the vents on the inside of the buttresses, going into the wheel arch and coming out of the engine space). So thank you for that!
I love-love-love the attitude of the owner. He embodies my belief about cars, too.
One of the most beautiful cars ever, inside and out! Truly gorgeous & timeless
Legends still remember CNC motors
I think Doug undersells the styling score. The 2019 GT is at least as gorgeous as the 2005. It looks classy and modern at the same time, without looking overstyled. And those flying buttresses! With functional intakes on the outboard pods. This really should be a 49 or even the unicorn 50 weekend score car. I would absolutely put it up against LaFerrari for top weekend.
Proudly built in Vaughn,Ontario …..Canada
8:53 The fuel cap is not only at an inconvenient place, it also opens up on the wrong side. 😬

But it says easy fuel 😃

Thank you for your kind comment. 😜
I didn’t write the fuel cap was on the wrong side of the car but that it opened on the wrong side. In other words it hinges in a way that when opened, the cap is in the way of the fuel nozzle.

I really love that GT so I'm really happy you posted this! I really wish they'd put the voodoo flat-plane v8 in it from the gt350. It's way too much engine, but it also would have gone 300mph 🤣🤣🤣
best sounding engine of all time. It absolutely screams.
Wouldn’t fit. Too big.
You mean a turbocharged version?
The GT was built to showcase the 3.5L ecoboost. There is NO room for a V8. Everything is wrapped tightly around the V6. When you drive it, the sound is not important. Anyway, Voodoo is not enough engine. The V6 makes 125 more horses. It would take around 1,200 hp to make the GT go 300 mph. It barely cracks 200 with 650 hp.

Doug the kind of guy to call every supercar iconic
The interesting part about a lot of the '17 GT's quirks and features is that many of them are due to the fact that this is a homologation special, originally designed to dominate the GTE class and get a class win at Le Mans. The roadcar basically exists just to meet the production quota for GTE homologation. In addition, the recent efforts to keep manufacturers from just throwing more money into racing (such as BOP) mean that this might be the last homologation special of this kind.
The fact Toto by Africa was the song queued up on the infotainment system makes me unreasonably happy.
