- The 2022 Ford GT (US $660,845 when purchased) is so much more than a pretty face designed in a wind tunnel. It has a twin turbo V6 with 660 horsepower, lots of weight saving carbon fibre, and a rapidly-deploying suspension drop system along with an active rear wing that is as functional as it is dramatic. But how does it stack up against a 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 ($164,505 as specced in the US, $189,027 in Canada) which is but a fraction of the cost and has a high-revving naturally aspirated V8? @@mikec538 the tq doesn’t come in off the launch like a naturally aspirated v8 though. But nothing can be taken away from the amazing z06. For it to be able to hang with the gt is very impressive
I was passed a couple of months ago on the 407 in Toronto by a Ford GT and then spent 10 mins explaining to my passengers the significance of it. It is truly beautiful.

How the GT looks (and sounds) in real life is hard to describe. I've never heard or seen anything as head turning as that car, not even close. The thing is incredible.
The dull drown of the V6 is NOT impressive, Only a V8 can deliver head turning sound,
@ricktaylor3748 Normally, I would agree. But a blue GT was coming in the other direction on the I-465 bypass around Indy, and you could hear it that far away with your windows up. So, I rolled my window down real quick so I could hear it better, and the sound it made was just incredible.

The new Ford gt kept as close to the original styling as they could, also there is only 1 gt colored in mystic chrome. The fact that Ford basically took a ecoboost truck engine or Mustang engine and made it run with other hyper-cars that have a v8, 10, 12, and even 16 cylinder engines is phenomenal.
Remember the last GT had the 5.4 Supercharged Triton motor. That came out of a truck as well. Phenomenal engineering.

yup what i got from this is. the C8 Grandsport will be the one to buy. classic V8 muscle sound + z06 handling. and less z06 parts on the body which in this case is a good thing.

I absolutely adore the Ford GT, and I'm in no way a modern Chevy guy, but that C-8 Z06 is a piece of work...... the sound when Thomas is revving it at the start of the drag race...... insane.... and to think it's available at a fraction of the price of the GT, that's just mind blowing.
Agreed chevy has done something impressive and like a lot of Chevy corvette enthusiasts they are probably going to modify it. With some mods I think it can easily take the GT in a straight like and hang with it in the twists. You got an extra $200k to play with 😅
The GT500 hangs and in many instances beats the Z06 it’ll be very close on a road course but I doubt the Z06 will beat the GT500 because it tied with a Porsche Gt3rs. And it’s down on horsepower. The GT500 is $89k and the Z06 $250,000.
They're both badass cars, but nothing sounds as good as a V10 engine like in the Viper or F1 cars.

The Corvette is an insane car for the price and I think people are starting to take notice. Lately (this spring), I've been seeing a lot more C8 and C8 ZO6s in my area.

I first saw the GT at an auto show a few years back. Pictures do not do it justice, you have to see it up close. Unbelievably beautiful car. I have seen a few C8's on the road, and the same goes as it does for the GT, it looks so much better in person. I only wish Dodge still had the Viper ACR so each American brand is represented. Great job guys.
True, they all look far better in person. (Ive seen all 4 at the Chicago Auto Show).. But the Stingray might as well not even be related. The Z06/Z07 is on a whole different planet. Wider, WAYYY more aggressive, sexier & and far more gorgeous. The Z06 is what the c8 was always supposed to be. And imo its the better looking car vs the GT. The GT is awesome & more exotic.. But its more sleek & elegant, but I prefer the sharper angles, aggressive body lines/splitter/aero, and the chiseled look of the Z06. And for the price difference, (and the fact the Vette is the do-it-all daily, supercar, track beast), I think its the best car under $250k

You'd either have to win the lottery, come from a wealthy family or be lucky enuff to land a high paying job. And that's just not a realistic outcome for most. Especially with today's economy.

With even 50-125K in custom performance parts on the Corvette, that could really make a huge difference in terms of power.

For as close as the race is and 1/4 the price, I’d take the Z06 every time.
At no time would i take the Corvette over the GT or Ferrari.. not even a close chance. Pull up to gas up and Corvette never gets a look. Both other cars get all the attention and faster. True Super cars

I don’t like Ferrari’s, and I’m not particularly fond of Fords. I don’t much care for GM cars, except for the Corvette (and maybe the Buick Regal Grand National). I’ve loved Corvettes since I was a little kid. That’s what’s nice about the freedom to choose. You can choose what you like and so can I, and neither of us have to agree, and yet we’ve lost nothing. I found a new 2000 Vette convertible in the showroom. It took me time to get in and my head bulged the softop! The salesman informed me I'd be driving with the roof down! I left and went a few blocks down to Pontiac, took a WS-6 for a drive, now at the time these cars had the exact same drive train. But more importantly I fit into this car! So I ordered one, and 23 years later am I glad I did, as my order included Pewter paint & a Taupe leather interior. The salesman told me only a grey interior would look good with that paint. There were just 32 with Pewter paint and 9 with Taupe leather made, with the combination, just 4 were built, 23 years ago. I have 1 of maybe 2 left in the world and mine has 50K on the clock, never in accident and always garaged...Can you guess the value???

The ford is like making an investment. The actual msrp on the 2022 Ford GT is 500k.. they are worth over a million now.
Take the zo6 to auction and you wouldn’t get a penny over msrp, but you will pay for the markup?

Chevy has impressed me with the statue of how well this Z06 performs. For 1/4 of the price it’s running with a 600K+ car which is insane!! The Ford GT is nice af too especially when it drops but at the end of the day I wouldn’t feel guilt driving the V like I would the GT
The $400k you save you can buy another in a different color. And still have some cash to modify them both to be crazy fast. The value of the C8 is just crazy.
To be fair, check fastest lap times, Hockenheim and whatever else they both have times on. The C7 Z06 and 458 Speciale are within a quarter second of each other. The 458 is faster at Red Bull Ring, the Z06 at Vairano and Nurburgring. Very comparable performance.
Im sorry but if I had the money I wouldn’t be looking at the V. I’d 100% put the 5.2 predator in the Ford gt

This was glorious. What a great Christmas gift! I had the opportunity to drive a standard 458 a few years ago and I still dream about it regularly, I can only imagine driving all three of these machines on the same day!

Now take away the authentic engine sounds from these cars and envision a future of EVs. Oh, and with another 500-1000 pounds more weight to carry. The automotive future isn't looking so bright.
Oh yes they're incredible to drive and if you get the opportunity to drive a 430 Scuderia don't pass on that.
@@rlsedition Controversially, I believe that when EVs get really good and the technology surpasses that of combustion engines, they will be quieter, faster, and more luxurious nonetheless, perhaps cheaper when the batteries learn to work. But alas, I will forever miss the calming brrrrr of a midnight drive, or the rushing growl of a V8, but it's all in the past and you must look at the future eventually.
@@jackCollin403 EV technology is already on par (or better) than ICE powertrains; it's the batteries that have a long way to go technically. Right now they're not even close to the power storage of gasoline.

They are both beautiful cars. I think the OG GT40 really did a lot for the Vette and Viper in terms of future race endeavors and goals. Much respect to the Corvette, and by default the T-Bird, then the AC/Shelby Cobra to the GT-40 and the Viper. Absolutely the best America had to offer. I wish we would have gotten through GT90.

We don’t have the C8 Z06 in Australia yet but having tracked the C8 a few times, it’s hugely impressive for a car that can be bought for under $200k (in Oz dollars).

As James said, the 458 Speciale is really the metaphorical father of both the C8 Z06 and the GT. In a way, that makes the GT and the Z06 brothers, which to me is a really beautiful thought.

@@JS-nd1po It won't. That engine is far too big for it to fit. The Ecoboost was the only engine that could fit the teardrop shape.

The ZR1 or Zora is the planned variant to compete against the half-million dolar GT, but this Z06 proves how efficient its driveline is, down nearly 100 foot lbs of torque, much heavier, N/A vs TT, etc.

The coming TT RWD ZR1 should be amazing, the Zora with the additional electric driven front wheels should be bonkers in a straight line, but all of this will come with even more weight over the already slightly portly C8Z. While the C8Z is epic for what it is, I still feel the C6Z was the pinnacle in some ways, and certainly on the scale...

This was a nice holiday treat. As a Ford GT owner I agree with James said. It really does feel special and the lack of sound deadening in the carbon tub truly makes it feel like a pure racecar for the street. It NEVER gets old. Mine is definitely a keeper. Unlike most owners, I drive it often so I constantly get the thrill they describe in this video. As for the Z06, it's great to see GM out-Ferrari Ferrari's current offerings. It gives me hope that the minority of enthusiasts at GM still have a voice.

@@BEBNC1 really? 812 line up does.... and if they are all hybrid and tt is for a reason and it is obvious. Tell me of one na car that can keep up with a baby 296gts. I am waiting..... dont say the z06 because its not even close. The truth is what Ferrari ia doing now Gm will do too in some years. U just cannot every year make faster cars with lower emissions without resorting to tt or hybrid, and Ferrari draws inspiration from f1 where these changes have been implemented. One should ask...if the 458 has been benchmarked for the experience amd the gt2 rs for performance why not a single review is comparing the z06 side to side with a turbo s (since the gt2 rs is out of production)? Maybe because it puts down 10s flat for the 1/4mile every single time, let alone winning roll races with ease.
@@j7b890 my man, not everything is about "keeping up". Speed is great, but some cars are bought because of the way they make you feel, not how fast they get you from A to B. NA cars, like the 458, have a FEEL and SOUND to them that forced induction cars to do not. Its why there was such a hissy fit when Porsche originally thought it might stop making the GT3, and why the current GT3's are selling for 2x MSRP. (even higher for the ones that come with a stick shift, which in no way keep up with the performance of the PDKs).
