Ian, just a heads-up. When doing the ham full power test the reason the noise floor across the whole band being viewed by the specan is going up is because your saturating something in the receive chain of your specan. It's going nonlinear. Put a 10-20 db pad on the input and see if you get the same results. I think you'll find things look much nicer and is actually representative of what's being transmitted at full power. Keep up the good work! ~pk
Glad you pointed this out. I do indeed put air-units on some planes without flight controllers. This would have caught me out, had I not known. Cheers for that.
So just to confirm once the cfg files is placed on an SD card and more channels are available (higher power unlocked when the O3 or Avata is armed/flying) can you just leave it in auto for channel selection? DO you still get the same benefits rather than having to txt which channels are best manually? Keep up the great work!
Oh so need an FC for full power. Crap I was going to make it swappable on some of my planes without FCs. I guess I'll be opening a ticket with DJI to suggest/request this power and Inav osd support
I'm wondering about just having something like a tiny arduino board that just sends the arming msp command a few minutes after powering up... Then attach that to the air unit and you have a swappable FPV system. Or just use one of the other two digital FPV systems and drop DJI like a sack of potatoes as we should. 😉
8:20 Wait, is it just swamping the entire spectrum there? So this system won't work at all with friends flying other systems - eg one person flying O3 and the other flying HDzero? Edit: Also, odd that we don't see it again in the "Testing" section of your video?

Hi, I live in New Zealand, so CE mode is about 25 mW, I can only fly the dam DJI FPV about 250 - 300m away before I start loosing signal. So the Ham file is going to make a big difference. Now do I also have to put the Ham file on the drone? Since the V2 goggles will put out more power, but the drone also has to increase power back to the goggles for video. This is where I can not find any info about increasing the drones power back. Or am I still going to be restricted from low video signal back?
Did you find a fix? Also a kiwi and waiting for vista and 03 units from china. Worried they'll be in CE and still not sure if these hacks will work with current firmware etc. New to DJI.

Which one should I pick, and after choosing one, do I leave it in whatever random channel, or do I need to select a specific one since it's now manual?
Dear Mad! I use g2 with og air unit with og Dji cam and as the cam is 1080p I get 1080p live view and record in the g2. I also have Vista, if I attach an og Dji cam to it, will I get 1080p live view and record in g2? Thx!
Does this also work when using an old air unit/vista with the goggles 2? Compared with old air unit with fcc in combination with the v2 goggles. Thatd be interesting 🙏
Maybe someone can answer me? I wanted to test the hack and while the connection to the racer was already active on manually changed to channel 2 in 40mhz. So, no restart of the drone! When flying while looping, the VTX connection suddenly went away completely. Is the problem known? On the other flights I no longer had the problem (after restarting the drone). Thanks
Hi all. If anyone sees this question and has an answer, please help. If I update firmware on my caddx vistas to work with goggles2/integra, does the full power mode still work without arming command? I ask because after updating the vista, all the menus look just like the o3 air unit. So if I turn off low power mode on the vista, will I get full power like I used to or will I need arming command from a flight controller? Thanks
Hello drone purchased in January 2023 IN ITALY with update 01.02.0015 the text file is not supported, there is by chance a new ilnk for unlocking in FCC
Thanks for your video. Just to make sure: ham file really cranks up the power much higher than CE so we can call it “FCC” hack. Not sure if i got correctly “low power mode” - this seems to have nothing to do with the signal strength/power and works independently from arming command (which in fact increases the actual power to a full whack) so what does it actually do? Is is to preserve the battery at the cost of picture quality? So in simple words: if i want the best range and best picture quality I should put the ham file on both ends and disable “low power mode” on goggles, am I correct? My config is o3 and v2 goggles. Thanks in advance!
Very interesting. Do you think if while activating/updating the O3 Air unit in Europe but using a VPN in the US you'd get it to FCC mode? How did you get it to "Proper FCC" mode at 11.50 in the video?
Hi Ian, What I'm always wondering is does it make sense to use only certain channels when the unlocked Vista or O3 gives you the additional channels in order to have stronger signal but stay at least in the right frequencies in CE countries. I live in Germany and since I unlocked everything I often think of minimizing the risk with no effort. I'm always flying alone and I don't care on which cahnnel I fly.

Nice video 👍. Have you done some tests with another vtx on at the same time? I'm interested what happens when in auto mode. Will it avoid the other frequency?
I fly planes with no FC for aerobatics and long range cruising using the old DJI system where you could set the system to "auto temp control off" which gave the full power you selected once you powered up without needing to arm the system. This gave good range. If there is no way to do this on the goggles 2, I may need to cancel my order for the new system.
@@holmesteadready Yes that's an option but I don't need a FC for my flying style. I have adopted an Arduino based system which sends an arming signal to the AU and this seems to work fine.

@@PuppetFPV Hi. I have the 03 air units and the new goggles 2. I can confirm that when you switch low power mode off in the goggles, although the bit rate increases it does not go to full power and you have limited range. It only goes to full power when the system receives an arming signal. This is no problem with drones with a FC, but I fly planes without a FC so have used a very clever Arduino board mod to send the arming signal which also starts the recording. The instructions for this can be found by searching ramiss Arduino dji. It's quite easy and I know nothing about Arduino LOL.
Hello Ian: Please forgive my noob/layperson/dullard question here. Ive a new avata, goggles 2, and motion controller. Due to poor range for video transmission i sought ways to extend range and found my way to your Sept 6th “DJI Avata & FPV Drone - Free FCC Hack” video. So last night before installing your Ham hack onto my SD card i checked up on your channel for an updates i should know of and came across this video, which i viewed. Again please forgive my dullardiousness, but as of now, is the Ham hack you described in september still likely to give me extended video range for my goggles 2 video transmission [ loss showing up as the ever decreasing “HD” signal bars in my goggles 2 display], or does all the testing youve done mean that i shouldnt bother as there is no power increase for transmission of HD video signal from drone to goggles2? And if that tragedy is true, is there anything else i can do to get extended range? Thanks much.
I have the same question. I have Goggles V2 and motion controller. I cannot see channels, there is no menu. And is that hack of benefit in non-USA , non Europe, like let's say Singapore or Australia?
@@axe3920 You can use the ham file to view the channels. It has worked on mine. You shouldn't need the FCC hack if it was bought outside EU or CE country. If you are still getting terrible range. I bought a FCC hack that has seriously improved the range. It wasn't expensive but is an annual license.
Allright guys. I need to apologize. the Ham hack still works. There was a series of mistakes on my side after I purchased the RC2. When I tested the mini 3 I noticed that the penetration was less than usual, then I tested the AVATA, and the penetration was the same. So I was wondering, What on earth happened? So then I removed the HAM file, and then I retested penetration and it was the same. But today after spending the weekend changing firmwares on all my devices, and testing and what not. I FINALLY resetted the goggles 2. AND ONLY THEN I SAW THE TRUE CE LIMITS. And they were terrible!! Much worse than what I was used to. SO Then I wondered why the penetration wasn't the same. So I went on my recordings to see when was the last time I flew here with the AVATA, and it was last month when there was less vegetation... Im so relieved to know that I didn't spend thousands for nothing. I was already putting things up for sale :-). Again sorry to all for the FALSE ALARM. Now it's super awesome I love the RC2 motion controller, much better than the sticks for both drones and I only hope that permit the full 500m height limit now for the mini 3 when using the motion controller like they do for the avata PS HAM file also works for mini 3 when used with RC2
The ham file hack works great with the Avata and motion cintroller 2 (I'm using integras). Does anyone know if this works with mini 3 Pro now that it supports goggles and motion controller?
can i race the O3 air unit? I needs to be limited to 25mw and STAY on one raceband channel. Do you think DJI will patch in support for this in a future firmware?
After doing the ham file I'm not seeing the ultra wide fov option in my goggles. Have I just got something wrong in my settings, any tips ? I'm also on the newer firmware and running the v2 goggles, not the goggles 2.
@Mads Tech I looked, that's where it was before. It only has wide and normal. I've tried 16:9 and 4:3 in different resolutions and framerates but ultra wide isn't there for me anymore.
Great info! I need to get an 03 unit and find out what happens or if it even works with the TBRC OSD boards. The way our board works is essentially sending an arming code via MSP to take the system to max power on the original system perhaps it will do the same. Now I am wondering since Wezley has taken the goggles 2 and 03 airunit out so far if the required firmware update to make the V2 goggles play together with the 03 airunit if it also ends the 13.3km hard limit in the previous version airunits. LOL this shit makes my head spin somedays. :P
Thank you for this very interesting and very detailed video. I understand that the transmission power of the Air unit 03 is 1W in FCC mode and 25 mW in CE mode. I want to know if the Goggle 2 are only a receiver if they are also a transmitter? If the Goggle 2 are a transmitter, what is their transmission power in FCC mode and in CE mode?
Can you confirm which firmware versions you were testing? I see DJI have released a batch of new firmware updates today for the Googles 2 and the Avata Avata: v01.02.0000 Goggles2: v01.03.0000 Goggles v2: v01.05.0000 RC2: v02.00.0400
Seems like the ham mod is a complete butthead move. Noise level massively increased and would knock out any range benifit if flying with a buddy. (Ce kids just do fcc hack)
Great Video. Just one question. How did you test FCC and CE mode when not testing in CE AND FCC country? Real FCC should only work in FCC countries. CE should only work in CE countries.
I fly hardcore aerobatics, and this O3 system just doesn't hold a lot of appeal for me. I don't want to wear a bunch of Crrp on my face; just give me a nondescript black box digital receiver with an XT60 connector and a real HDMI port out. If you still wanted to wear goggles you could connect it to something that does goggles better, like some old Fatsharks, or virtual reality goggles like the Occulus Quest 2 or the like... that are cheaper and can do way more than the Goggles 2.

Now it's super awesome I love the RC2 motion controller, much better than the sticks for both drones and I only hope that permit the full 500m height limit now for the mini 3 when using the motion controller like they do for the avata
PS HAM file also works for mini 3 when used with RC2
The ham file hack works great with the Avata and motion cintroller 2 (I'm using integras). Does anyone know if this works with mini 3 Pro now that it supports goggles and motion controller?
No it’s for FPV only sadly
can i race the O3 air unit? I needs to be limited to 25mw and STAY on one raceband channel. Do you think DJI will patch in support for this in a future firmware?
I doubt they'll add anything like that. They're focused on the best image quality and nothing else. HDZero is the best link for racing.
After doing the ham file I'm not seeing the ultra wide fov option in my goggles. Have I just got something wrong in my settings, any tips ? I'm also on the newer firmware and running the v2 goggles, not the goggles 2.
It’s under the camera settings
@Mads Tech I looked, that's where it was before. It only has wide and normal. I've tried 16:9 and 4:3 in different resolutions and framerates but ultra wide isn't there for me anymore.
O3 system 23,4Km hard limit confirmed!
Interesting.... Source?

well done
Cli command for arm mode.
Part 15 max power would be different than part 97 if these go beyond 1 watt
Thank you for this very interesting and very detailed video.
I understand that the transmission power of the Air unit 03 is 1W in FCC mode and 25 mW in CE mode.
I want to know if the Goggle 2 are only a receiver if they are also a transmitter?
If the Goggle 2 are a transmitter, what is their transmission power in FCC mode and in CE mode?
Are you sure that ham file has to go only on goggles and not on O3?
Yes I’m sure.
8:26 might be a useful moment for people
Can you confirm which firmware versions you were testing? I see DJI have released a batch of new firmware updates today for the Googles 2 and the Avata
Avata: v01.02.0000
Goggles2: v01.03.0000
Goggles v2: v01.05.0000
RC2: v02.00.0400
Seems like the ham mod is a complete butthead move. Noise level massively increased and would knock out any range benifit if flying with a buddy. (Ce kids just do fcc hack)
Thanks for the video. Very useful information,
However..................
The new HDzero goggles + the Walksnail VRX should do just this beautifully 🤓
Most likely 700mw. Like always
You are very preachy, baldo
Can I ask you what Spectrum analyzed do you use, I have interference in my area and I would like find what area I need avoid
