I used to frequent an auto auction in NH where the non-runners (not smashed, just not running) went for $100 or less. I remember buying some for $35! Soon enough, the yard was discovered by foreigners and suddenly they added a zero to everything. Great run down on the vehicle auctions. I've been to a few general auctions and I've learned that it's "buyer beware" and you really have to go over the items for all faults before bidding. I've been caught so many times, especially motorcycles where they say "it turns over" when using the kick-starter (engine moves) but leaves it open to a lot of reasons why it doesn't actually start up. The auctioneers have good descriptions, usually all the good points but don't really point out ALL the bad points. I can see their side of it as they want to get as much as they can to earn a better sale commission. My dad used to go to auctions in the old days to buy horses and gave me good advice when I was very young. He said if you are buying at an auction "sometimes off goes the head, and on goes a pumpkin". Meaning that it's easy to get caught up in a bidding war and pay way over what you wanted. Go in with a firm top-dollar of what you're prepared to pay (plus fees) or you could go way over and get a rude shock when the fees are added, and it isn't a bargain anymore. Keep your vids coming!

That burb might have a 4L80, good score. Enjoyed watching this and you’re right the auctions really get me excited and I tend to spend a bit more than I wanted. I guess the thrill makes it exciting. With the clothes you found, I would look for someone down on their luck (homeless) and offer them clothes. Goodwill despite their name, is in it for profit. Homeless shelters is another good spot to donate to directly as their stuff usually is picked from a bin by the folks who need it. Good on you though, the heart is in the right place. Can’t wait to see that LS in a square body! Make that happen on a future episode; really enjoyed this weeks video.
Those aren't Suburbans, they are Tahoe's except for the one he showed, which is a half-ton. The half-tons with the 5.3 are usually paired with the 4L60E. Not getting a 4L80E unless it's a 2500 with the 6.0.

In Arizona, if your dash light is on it won’t pass inspection, and you have to park it ,and if the plates are expired it gets towed, unless you park it at your own house.
I guess that’s the price you pay to be warm all winter. The truck that I am driving in the video has had the check engine light on for years. Mostly because I cut off the catalytic converters and added headers. Absolutely zero state inspections here and drive literally anything you can get a title for.

3d scan the vehicles, then generate printed repair panels and mods that can cover over previous vehicle damage, and the cost of materials can be as low as less than a dollar to 20 dollars, including the paint and prepwork. I just scored a Revopoint Miraco all in one 3d scanner that has no spaghetti wire mayhem whatsoever, which means your laptop wont go sailing off a cart or table due to tripping over the always changing cable management that also must occupy the operators attention though sometimes is overlooked while focusing on getting a decent scan of not so easy to get at surfaces sometimes. It can do from tiny coin sized data, upto the size of a helicopter, so cars are a walk in the park for such a wireless type of scanner easy to move around with. Ya man, go with mods, seeing as your in prime territory for this due to your habitual purchasing of vehicles that you knowledgably see the vision for.
My neighbor was almost 90 when he died. But the whole time I knew him he went to the state auctions and got all of his cars. That’s how I got the care on my profile. 700 bucks with a blown engine got a rebuilt 1.8 (coming from a 1.6). And swapped it in for under 100 bucks 1700 bucks for a pretty much perfect car not to mention the hardtop is worth almost as much as I paid altogether
@@robertdiehl9003 OK, you made me look and yes it looks good! However, I had a '72 "Rustillac" sedan in NY that fell apart daily until it went to the boneyard. I had bought it for $100 in 1985 or so...
Great if you need an engine or parts but here in TX you have to get a "salvage" title which means in many places they won't insure it or you will pay alot more. And selling it is harder.. Great for a trailered burn out car or race car. Or get the parts you want & scrap the rest.
Yes sir... Great video. Do more of the auction cars every now and then, and how about taking one like that last one and do a couple of r and r videos showing you getting it ready for resale! Thanks. Later.
I can attest to the old adage about going to the Police Auctions when it is cold and rainy. Back in '94, I went to one in Texas, and I was one of like 5 guys that showed up, and two of them were with me, so we weren't bidding against each other. I was able to buy a 92 Dodge Viper that was ceased in a drug raid. I'm not sure exactly if it was involved in a high speed chase or what happened, but there was a bullet hole in the left rear fender, just above the wheel well lip and through the inside of the inner fender. Luckily the bullet didn't hit anything inside the car. I bought it for the opening bid of $2,000. I loaded it on the car hauler along with the rest of the cars we bought Fast forward a few months, and since I was "under 25 years old," I couldn't afford the insurance. So I sold it for like $35k.
I bet you have some money in after market door speakers too. I seen a aftermarket red monster wire in the door jam in the driver wide. Typically for subs. They had aftermarket stero and subs. Worth at least checking to see if they have decent door speakers to sell too

Former Mercedes tech here. Be very careful with any Merc at an auction. Only get one if you plan on parting it out. Generally speaking, it's a trap. They often get abandoned because someone got a repair bill they couldn't pay. Many models are extremely prone to water leaks when they sit outside. I had so many customers bring in Mercs they got at auctions that needed extensive work on the electrical system.

I don't mind the auction stuff I tried to dabble with it myself but all we have is Copart which is the insurance auctions and that stuff can get very spendy as you can tell with the van because when it was a thousand-dollar bid it was about 13 hundred dollars total I was watching when you had your $500 bed that your total was $667 but I just thought it was interesting that you were so to get rid of those hats but you never know you might have been able sell those hats and get a chunk of your change back because to the Hat collector type that might have been worth some money but I don't know and I was looking at that Ford Fusion and you could probably turn around and say 1500 as it sat and you might be able to get your money back
@@streetratgarage problem is you have to be a pain member because it used to be Brasher's Auto Auctions Copart handles a lot of it nowadays now if I lived up in Portland the tow companies there have that type of auction all the time but I'm Eugene Springfield area and tow companies are small occasionally you can walk on their lot and they might have three four or five cars for sale but here most of the wrecked cars are picked up by Copart from the tow companies and take them to the Copart yard I used to work for a tow company and if it was a wreck it would sit in the yard for a while then go to Copart if it was abandoned vehicle the tow company takes it until the storage fees add up to more than what the vehicle is worth and then the company's most of the time just scrapped them because we have big scrap yards here so unfortunately they don't get a buildup like what you got to see and the police impound cars at are at the tow companies and those are the four or five that they'll usually put up for sale I bought 1 years ago for a personal rig when I worked for them a Jetta and it was $900
Isn't actually fines that can't be paid it's the storage fees. In order to get a car out of impound like that the actual owner whose name is on the title/registration (have to show proof of ownership) must be the one present to get it, and then the cost of the tow plus usually $20-$25 per day storage fees. So if someone doesn't get out of jail for like 10 days they're looking at $500+ to recover their car. If they're waiting on a paycheck, the amount required to get it back just continues to increase every single day. Many can't afford it and just abandon the vehicle. It's really a shame because these are always people who can least afford to lay out that kind of money unexpectedly. And they're not necessarily bad people so everyone can just save their "well they shouldn't have been arrested in the first place, it's their fault" comments.
I bought a suburban just like that one but it has the extra seat 😢 the back and ac and heater in the back I've never seen that before 360 Canadian and a 88 firebird baby blue I was surprised it has a 350 5 speed both door hinges are shot so no one could get into it and paid 500 for it I think that car value is going up especially after I get it painted and go thru it breaks and so on
Just found your channel today and I love the content so you got a new subscriber! but bro please your dashboard on your truck wipe it down the dust piled on there gave me anxiety 😂
Was that the Plainfield auction?? I used to drive for button motors here in Kokomo to the auctions to pick up vehicles. A group of us would drive down in a van and we would each drive a vehicle back and get like $20-25 back then. Drove for cpl other places too. Also used to go to another auction north west of Indy. Can’t remember the name
in my city the repair shop is hell for me, I have spent $ 1000 and still can't repair my car, until I run out of money to repair my car, can you help me so that my car is like yours?
People move into vans and that's driven up the prices. I've been living in a van for 13 years and just spent 8k on a new crate motor and new front end on a 1995 Chevy Gladiator Camper Van. $600 on the power steering unit then I'll save up for another trip around the States again.
The problem with these auction cars is you never know what your getting running or not they are all usually lemons.. you validated everything I thought about these auctions the min you jumped the suburban and there was no steering 😂
See if you can make a profit on it you probably know where you can get parts for it rather than parting it out I would rather repair and use as runaround reduce the amount of miles on the truck when you don't need a trailer

@@ABRetroCollections my mistake. Been a while since I looked at the 4L80e swaps, just remembered that some burbs came with that transmission.
Thanks for watching, will have some more auction content later on down the road
I like both but I wanna see more of the auction videos very interesting
@@fredbennett3549 I am putting one together right now that goes into more detail on what you need to do how you need to do it, etc. on the public auto auctions so stay tuned
Thanks so much for this video! I flipped cars a lot when i was around 22! Taught my lil cousin how to do it too! It's a different day now! So cuz wanna start to do it again and i told him ok! Indianapolis is where we will shop!! Thanks Bro!!😉👍
Glad it helped!
This is my first time seeing your channel. I just subscribed. I love this type of content. I’m gonna have to check out the rest of your channel too, but I enjoyed this video cars from the repo lot.
Welcome aboard!
I love the auction videos. It is cool to know more about Police Auctions.
1975 Cadillac 2 door green and white looks like a nice machine.
Saw that beauty too back there
In Arizona, if your dash light is on it won’t pass inspection, and you have to park it ,and if the plates are expired it gets towed, unless you park it at your own house.
And that's why AZ sucks.
I guess that’s the price you pay to be warm all winter.
The truck that I am driving in the video has had the check engine light on for years. Mostly because I cut off the catalytic converters and added headers. Absolutely zero state inspections here and drive literally anything you can get a title for.
A budget LS swap would be cool. Everyone talks about how cheap it is to do, but every time i watch a video on it. Things seem to get pricey.
It can get real pricy real fast. It can also be cheap. First step is to pick the right vehicle to put the ls engine into. Very important.
Stay tuned.
Go watch “thedrivewayengineer” it’s a RUclips channel he has a whole video section on no bullshit best budget ls swap content, highly recommend
Check out DD speed shop. He is doing a LS swap in a 57 chevy. He does low budget builds on different vehicles and other content.
@@327JohnnySS I watch him, he is good. Hard to follow some times because he bounces around between builds. I think he got 5 different cars going right now. 😆
He said the impound fees start off at $300, and go up like $20 per day.....
Where i live it starts between $350-$500 and goes up at least $100 per day..
That’s called greed!
It's fun treasure hunting in the junk cars I have my own impound yard and it's crazy the things you find..😂😂.
It was my favorite thing to do when I worked at an impound lot
Those hats alone would get u around 20 a pop. The Nike if Jordan's 100. And clothes potentially more depending on brand. Google each item before you donate. But hats will sell
First time watching. So far awesomeness thanks brother😎🍻
just discovered your channel, lovin it! greetings from Spain and keep those vids coming!
Thanks for watching Spain!
Nice to see you again Chuck. Still working on the cars.🙂
What’s up!
Alway and forever In The car life!
Hey, Big Ray you got this 👍 you will do just fine. Everyone loves you BIG RAY. Just keep being you.
I liked that '05 or so gold Mercury Panther Body, it looked fairly straight. Those can usually run forever...
Good cars, I have had a few!
The green 1974 CADILLAC. @ 19:44 was even nicer that was right behind that Mercury Grand Marques by a few feet....
That’s too bad about the salvage title. Here in Indiana you just get a normal title.
I loaded it on the car hauler along with the rest of the cars we bought
Fast forward a few months, and since I was "under 25 years old," I couldn't afford the insurance. So I sold it for like $35k.
Bs
I like watching these kinds of videos learning
I just ran across your video and really like it. Will be back to watch a few more.
Awesome, thank you!
I bet you have some money in after market door speakers too. I seen a aftermarket red monster wire in the door jam in the driver wide. Typically for subs. They had aftermarket stero and subs. Worth at least checking to see if they have decent door speakers to sell too
Its good you give back to those in need of a vehicle to get back and forth to work or a to b ..great vid
19:00 "So much goodness here" haha love it.
Good buy on the ford if you lived in Orlando there is a junkyard here called budget you pull it you could get all the parts for around 200 dollars
We have a few up here as well.
I bought a Shelby Charger at a police auction really cheap drove it for a bit, fixed it up and flipped it for way more.
I like the auction stuff too
That was pretty cool it looks like a real easy business to get into I'm a retired Carpenter general contractor so I was looking for a easy way to make some extra money I used to flip cars in my younger days so appreciate your channel thanks for sharing and I'll be watching I just subscribed you seem pretty cool
Thanks!
Great stuff!
Good to know!
43:52 Yall slappin E-40 out there. NICE!

Welcome aboard, UK. Hope you enjoy.
That axle as a whole will make your money back. Good buy
I knew a guy how bought some cars mostly diesels when the 6.5 td was new.... he made engines ready for boats and sold them quiet easy...... He only took the engines and gave the rest away to his friend that could not handle the shop of selling some parts that he got for free..... What a pity!!
pull the tire off that rim then put it on the wall. nice decorative holder for a garden hose.
I would stay SO FAR AWAY FROM THE FORDS 5.4 Tren junk engines, 2 peace plugs now in a Van.😢Nope, the cheaper Chevys, YES TONS OF MONEY TO BE MADED O. PARTS 350 VOTECT N 4.8 OR 5.3 OR 6.0 L LS O YES SER 🤔 👏 🙌
That thing is spacious, coulda sworn you kept taking thing out for 30 min straight 😂
Yea it's cool like to see the deals
Nice scores, thanks for sharing!
i got a 07 Audi Q7 3.6L V6 Quattro premium package suv with newer motor has 138k miles on it for sale no title which could be fixed and used on road if person: changes the 2 flex pipes ; high pressure fuel rail pressure sensor ; and both fuel tank pumps .. I took out the original engine with 186k plus miles out. Installed engine with 138k miles. i have video of it actually running as proof it does run. everything works lights signals horn wipers front and rear.
I would sell all those trendy clothes and shoes. Nice Alpine amp!
I don't mind the auction stuff I tried to dabble with it myself but all we have is Copart which is the insurance auctions and that stuff can get very spendy as you can tell with the van because when it was a thousand-dollar bid it was about 13 hundred dollars total I was watching when you had your $500 bed that your total was $667 but I just thought it was interesting that you were so to get rid of those hats but you never know you might have been able sell those hats and get a chunk of your change back because to the Hat collector type that might have been worth some money but I don't know and I was looking at that Ford Fusion and you could probably turn around and say 1500 as it sat and you might be able to get your money back
Check for your local government auctions in your state. Also check for tow company auctions
@@streetratgarage problem is you have to be a pain member because it used to be Brasher's Auto Auctions Copart handles a lot of it nowadays now if I lived up in Portland the tow companies there have that type of auction all the time but I'm Eugene Springfield area and tow companies are small occasionally you can walk on their lot and they might have three four or five cars for sale but here most of the wrecked cars are picked up by Copart from the tow companies and take them to the Copart yard I used to work for a tow company and if it was a wreck it would sit in the yard for a while then go to Copart if it was abandoned vehicle the tow company takes it until the storage fees add up to more than what the vehicle is worth and then the company's most of the time just scrapped them because we have big scrap yards here so unfortunately they don't get a buildup like what you got to see and the police impound cars at are at the tow companies and those are the four or five that they'll usually put up for sale I bought 1 years ago for a personal rig when I worked for them a Jetta and it was $900
Hats like that sell good on eBay. I’ll buy them on the cheap and send a shipping label!
I bet the clothes are good too.
Well they shouldn't have been arrested in the first place it's their fault. Lol...
It’s a huge scam it’s been working for decades, another way for the gubemnt to suck the wealth out of the populace
That Cruse was somebody's punching bag.
Right on feel smarter watching video lol your tips and advice spot on ...ty
Glad to help
I'm from indiana always wanted go to one of these
That van is perfect for vanlife...junk now, but can be turned into a beautiful home.
Anybody see the beautiful 1974 green CADILLAC @ 1944 ?
Might delivering out the van! Yeah 😊 van looks great!!😊
That silver 07 commander had a hemi in it.
I bought a suburban just like that one but it has the extra seat 😢 the back and ac and heater in the back I've never seen that before 360 Canadian and a 88 firebird baby blue I was surprised it has a 350 5 speed both door hinges are shot so no one could get into it and paid 500 for it I think that car value is going up especially after I get it painted and go thru it breaks and so on
Dang. I may head up there just to see what they have. I'm pretty handy and could probably breathe new life in a couple of those.
Just found your channel today and I love the content so you got a new subscriber! but bro please your dashboard on your truck wipe it down the dust piled on there gave me anxiety 😂
That’s so I can write down phone numbers in the dust.
South side Indy
in my city the repair shop is hell for me, I have spent $ 1000 and still can't repair my car, until I run out of money to repair my car, can you help me so that my car is like yours?
People move into vans and that's driven up the prices.
I've been living in a van for 13 years and just spent 8k on a new crate motor and new front end on a 1995 Chevy Gladiator Camper Van. $600 on the power steering unit then I'll save up for another trip around the States again.
Sounds like a good time.
What is the website you were on? I could not find the pages that look similar to what you were on. I love the video! Thank you!
The name has changed it’s now
app.marketplace.autura.com/home
15:00 You couldn't pay me to take that pos Commander, those are literally one of the biggest turds on the road today trust me
1:22 In NJ its $50 a day and has been for at least 15 years
The problem with these auction cars is you never know what your getting running or not they are all usually lemons.. you validated everything I thought about these auctions the min you jumped the suburban and there was no steering 😂
It’s 100% a gamble. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.
I like these car scavengers videos . They make money !
old ford vans are favorites among Amish taxi companies because there really cheap to maintain
I get all my cars from the auction. As a car gal in 2024 this is how you get affordable cars.
See if you can make a profit on it you probably know where you can get parts for it rather than parting it out I would rather repair and use as runaround reduce the amount of miles on the truck when you don't need a trailer
Good video do more like it.
