Steve's old videos don't get enough love.
awesome review, I like how you go into the details of the tech. subscribed
I have a 980 Ti Hybrid (Reference with the kit installed later, after a 5 month wait for the kit). it does emit a small hum but nothing that would be considered to be annoying. OCs like a champ though!! 50C at full load on at 1535MHz.
Very informative and highly detailed, you sir are a very professional reviewer.
Thank you
Best GPU reviewer on RUclips. Detailed and structured reviews. Really helps when determining what card to purchase. Please do Fury X when you get that unit as compared to this one. I am trying to decide between the two. Thanks!
Awesome review.
I love your methods to test the thermals.
But I would like to ask whether you can disconnect the rad fan header and connect it to the mobo so that it can be adjustable?
FANTASTIC review with stats man! Top Dog! Now regarding that haircut of yours.........
Hey Steve,
Thanks for your in-depth review, I enjoy your tone and approach more than the other reviewers out there. I do have a question though. You use ΔT to show temperatures where you subtract ambient temperatures. However in my experience, as a user who lives in a country where ambients range from 30-36 degrees celsius, i find that it is only the idle temp that gets affected. The under load temperatures don't seem to have a direct linear relation with ambient temperatures. I am saying this coming from a 580 and a 780. My 2 980s arrive tomorrow so I was just curious as to whether you know of any literature out there where this ΔT methodology of reporting temperatures has been validated.
Wow you are good thanks for taking you time and doing this I would like to put this in a small case what case you recommend for me
i buyed it at 17 september, now, waiting for delivery found this video. That's awesome! Thanks you!
Now, in Russia, i know, that i bought a great card.
HAIL PUTIN!
Hello!,if I'm going to buy this hybrid version, will I need to change the water inside the block in some time,or not?
Does EVGA have SLI support ? and how long should the SLI bridge be if I decides to buy two of it ?
hi steve, where can i get the new face plate for this gpu, thanks
Where can you purchase the modding kit for the 980 ti?
Tech Jesus had better looking hair before :(
Currently running evga 960 with 500psu and thinking about getting this one but kinda lazy to get and new psu. How much power do I need to run this card if I decide to get one?
2021 just here too get info for argument on facebook about power consumption. Thanks
Waiting for the Hybrid version to become available. Come on EVGA!!! Take my money!!
Thank u Steve
Is there a good video out there on how to install this?
Great review on a EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid but liquid cooled GPUs are not a option, can you imagine 3 closed loop radiators in a rig, one for the CPU and 2 more for 980Ti in SLI, not gonna happen. Looking forward to your reviews of custom 980Ti cards, that's what I'll be rocking. Give us your 980Ti take on what Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI, and all the other Nvidia partners have coming ASAP please.
***** Either get the ref card and SLI since blower is better for SLI or invest in a real liquid cooling system. It would out perform three of these anyway.
Do i need tjis or reg 980 ti im not overclockimg
make a hybrid cooler without a blower style reference cooler and a 140mm radiatorand fan, then you got me interested. cool and quiet of you get the pump and radiator fan to spin low enough.
Cant wait for Fury x reviews
Pls do you send me your mod bios for 980ti hybrid?
After watching both you and jay2cents Im getting this card.
Do you have it?
Schmidt McGready Unfortunately they have been out of stock and just missed it, but next time it goes in stock ill be waiting to grab them up
PatsNation Yeah. I'm waiting for it too... I have been waiting for a month.
Schmidt McGready Yeah its WORTH it though cant wait to get my hands on it
PatsNation agree 100%
Awesome review with stats, did you keep the fan config at push or try at push/pull?
Also there's a error in the article "Voltage increases shouldn't be executed lightly, though." just in case someone takes it on board and jacks the voltage right up haha.
Dinxsy Oh. Great catch! Will resolve that immediately.
Didn't try push/pull, but now I'm tempted... ^SB
Gamers Nexus push/pull makes a huge difference in gpu cooling, try it : )
Gamers Nexus i don't see why they haven't supplied 2 fans tbh, for the price would seem appropriate.
Arafat Zahan Push/pull doesn't make a huge difference at all. It looks better set up that way in the case that's for sure.
Mozz Jones n case of CPU, yes it doesn't make much of a difference (1/2 degree).. But in case of Graphics card push pull makes a difference in Single 120mm radiator. Checkout AMD R9 295X2 push pull video on youtube.
How is the sound of the card, because I know the gpu is my loudest part.
I would like someone to SLI the hybrid to see how that would look in a case
is there any point in modded bios if my card is good at 1500mhz?
Alex McNab no not really, I get 1540 with stock bios. However I do have a zotac amp extreme watercooled with a corsair H90 and Kraken G10 bracket.
Wish they had a different color scheme going on with this card!
Five years on and I still think version 1 of the 980ti hybrid was one of the best looking cards ever. I love the color.
InternetUser4843221 just bought one today for 160 USD lol
What I'm having trouble with is gauging whether these would work in SLI. How long are the tubes? Could they reach the top of a full tower? Or would they need to be bottom-mounted?
JoeGamer81 top no way. Work well in a sandwich fan, rad, fan rad, fan in rear hole. One fan can install outside of rear fan rear hole. I take that back. Doing this increased load temps on one gpu by 10oC. Working on another idea.
***** Do you think I'm OK with replacing my rear case exhaust fan with this radiator and fan? I don't think there's any other way to fit this radiator in my case.
yeah works great.
you want the graphics card heat to exhaust.
*****
Yes but the concern was with the heat coming from my Titan Fenrir on the CPU. Would it significantly impair the cooling performance of that radiator? I suppose the CPU doesn't generally get all that hot compared to a GPU so it should hopefully be OK?
Is your cpu really highly overclocked by any chance? I have a separate rad on my cpu, top mounted. I think if my cpu was air-cooled, I would learn towards a really good air cooled gpu and good case fans. This however will be far from quiet. A custom water loop then would be the best of all worlds.
nice card. now that it's $730 on amazon i'm going to pull the trigger.
A quick suggestion:
This or the Asus gtx980ti Strix?
I live in a relatively hotter area. With 45°C max temperatures during summer days
In the benchmark section, why don't you show the 980 Ti Hybrid OC benchmark score? That's would reveal the real power of the card, since it's a no brainer to OC it.
Why do the reviews never show this card in their machine?
Keith Manning We've shown it a few times, but for us, it's a two person team -- I perform all the testing and analysis, and once that's complete, I get Keegan over to film and edit. By the time we're in the filming process of the pipeline, the bench normally has the next card in it for testing already.
That said, if this is something people care about, we could certainly arrange to show the card in the bench more frequently. The bench specs are on the website. ^SB
How would I install into my PC?
with a hammer
+Ray mon lmao this guy
This card costs 900 euros (1.005 dollars) where I live...
The Fury X should be compared to this card in benchmarks. Not the air cooled stock 980 Ti (Even though it still loses to the stock Ti)
Richard Meikle The Fury X didn't publicly exist when we made this video. We will be benchmarking them when ours arrive.
1.294V stabil : 1600 mhz gpu :D
Rap Mester prove boast
you people must have all hit the Hybrid lottery, mine reported an ASIC of 80%.. I would not run stable above 1350Mhz
wow those 980 ti s in SLI don't scale well
I got it for $650 usd ;)
Your hair, is bitchin!
yooooooooooooo
this is selling on ebay for 219.99
wertyoxxx1 Careful might just be selling the cooler.
Will noone tell it how it is?
Making watercooling because of a low powertarget redundand is gimping
overclocking capabilities in my book.
3 times as hot? Someone needs to learn a little physics, no offense

Wednesday everybody will realise how overpriced this videocard is.
